What does this mean? Sorry a newbie! Am not rooted, all stock! Thanks

Basically, if you ever have an issue with your phone and doing a reset doesn't help you....you can run this file through your computer and it will reinstall everything as if you never opened the box....its more useful for people that flash custom Roms due to the fact that sometimes flashes go horribly wrong and ONLY option is to have this file to restore phone. Hope that explains it a bit. In your case good to have but if you plan on staying completely stock you prompt won't need it.

Your Hboot will be updated to 2.09, but you'll still have S-off. You'll have to re-root your phone after running the RUU.

Ya man is keep that lazypanda hboot too. If its a known issue I'm sure there'll be a fix on the way

After I successfully complete the RUU, Google Play gives a server error. Google Now doesn't work. Google Wallet gives another error message of its own. Google Talk will not sign in. Yet, Gmail and YouTube work perfectly fine despite being slightly outdated due to no Play store there updating them. I have tried every suggestion from factory resetting to clearing cache for Google play framework under apps. Even signing in and out of my Google account doesn't work. Please help!

I just wanted to know if that ruu works fine or there is any issues with it? Thanks.

fair warning to all, this update has been known to cause issues. there's a good chance it will break root, turn S on or update your Hboot. even if you jusy flash the radio. If you want to keep your Hboot or root, check out the androidforums LTEvo root section.

Interesting. Yes, updating with the RUU (or the JB update in general) will cause you to lose root, but all you have to do is dev unlock your phone and root it once again. There have been no reports here thus far of anybody losing S-off by upgrading to the newest Hboot, as long as they were S-off prior to upgrading. Also, there have been no reports of any issues upgrading the radio or other firmware, assuming somebody didn't flash the wrong file in their bootloader and update everything, including their Hboot. I don't know what's being said over on other forums, but I keep up pretty well on here. The only known issue has to do with system write issues for users who are S-on with Hboot 2.09, and there is already a fix for that. It even appears as though Dirty Racun may work to gain S-off with the newest Hboot

I have a question.. I am s on hboot 1.15 htc dev unlocked. I want to run meanrom 3.6 but it is based off the new update. I have read you can use fast boot or flash gui to flash the kernel and than flash the Rom after that. Question is.. Is this true for my setup and is there any concern about not having actually updated everything on the update? I read stuff about a Rom or base mismatch issue..Thanks for any help..

You got it...just fastboot flash the boot.img from the ROM, then flash the ROM in recovery and you should be all set. You shouldn't need to install the latest firmware for it to work, but it's probably recommended. That being said, since you're s-on you won't be able to anyway. Should be fine with just the kernel and ROM.

If you are having issues though before you decide to take that awful journey of relocking unrooting to take that ota stop and think of the consequences and the possibility of never being able to obtain s-off...from what im reading the new base aint that exciting anyways

The new radio kicks but. Solves most or all problems with LTE. The dream of s-off for hboot 1.15 is a fantasy. Even the developer for Meanrom decided it wasn't worth waiting for an s-off that will probably never come and took the latest ota to bring his new phone up to date with the complete firmware package. Mikey was s-off and completely bricked his phone by accidentally putting the old firmware zip on his sdcard and flashed it. His replacement phone came with 1.12 and instead of going with s-off he decided to take the ota and keep it s-on. That way, he will have to flash just like the 1000 other users that use his rom. Yes, I am happy I am s-off, but if you aren't, you might as well get the full use of your phone and take the ota, unlock your phone again, and install MeanRom.
Those people that chime in and say the latest ota isn't worth it sure haven't tried it. This phone is so smooth now it is indescribable. The radios alone are worth it, but HTC did a great job with this update. Sense 4.1 and Android 4.04 are a grat combination.

Are you still s-off with all the latest firmware and base Rom?

How Can I Flash New Radios with S-On?

I have Hboot 1.15, Fresh EVO OS. And used the Regaw Autoroot following the OTA Update. I heard you can do this using fastboot or HTCdev, but I'm not sure how to do this... And could not find any answers (My concern is that the new FRESH updates use the new radios, and I updated to it, but can't flash the new radios)
If this has already been answered I apologize, but I couldn't find it.
Thank you for the help!
Dude there's threads all over the forum about this issue. Just spend 2minutes looking and you'll be all set
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
You can't update radios if you are s-on hboot 1.15. Your only option to update the radios is to relock and take the ota or install the new ruu. Then unlock again, install twrp, and then install your favorite rom. As many will state, never take the ota because you may loose ability to get s-off in the future. This may be true, but there is no s-off solution for your hboot anyway so you might as well bite the bullet now and live in the present instead of waiting for something that may never happen in the future.
Interesting. All right Thanks for your help. And as for there being threads "all over" I was getting conflicting reports, since I saw on one page where it was possible to flash using HTCdev with S-on, but there was no link or instructions given.
To address ur main concern, there is no need to update your radios. If you want to run a rom that is based off the latest update all u need to do is make sure your kernel matches the kernel in the rom. You can update your kernel with Flash img GUI, found in the app store. Just download the rom u want open flash img GUI select the rom and choose to flash kernel img. Once complete, wipe and flash rom. Njoy!

Ok, so I'm rooted, s-on with hboot 1.12. I was able to do the firmware update and update the radios. I've read like crazy and I'm not seeing anywhere I can update the PRI without s-off. Is this correct? One thread said I can flash anything since I'm hboot 1.12 so I'm confused.

I'm a little bit hesitant to do that since I've read it can go crazy wrong and I'm not as savvy with the phones as the folks on the forums. Do I have to though in order to update my PRI?

I am S-ON HBoot 1.15. Is it possible to flash HTC Stock recovery, go to stock rooted rom, use OTA root Keeper and take the new OTA?
You don't need OTA root keeper because your going to have to do HTC dev to unlock the device again.
With that being said I wouldnt recommend taking the OTA or running the ruu to update because you'll be on the new hboot
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Not to mention the new base for stock has introduced a few of its own issues that the new firmware/hboot can not fix. Several people have attempted to downgrade thinking its the best alternative and brick their phones in doing so. The new firmware doesn't change much anyway

Yes, I used ZedoMax unlock tutorial to unlock the first time. Why do you not wish to have the latest hboot?
I was hboot 1.15 when I ran the latest RUU unlocked and updated on the firmware. I decided that having the latest radio was important and you can not get one without the other right now from what I could find. So, I now have the latest radio and hboot, I unlocked the bootloader once again and reflashed my custom ROM.

Install SDK tools first - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaNM-lt_aHw&feature=fvwrel
Relock bootloader - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yS7yy4XVA4&list=SP53B1EB8DBE7A5B59&index=1&feature=plpp_video
Update with latest RUU - http://stockroms.net/file/HTCEvo4GLTE/RUU
Hope this helps...I love mine after the latest hboot and radio together. It now has none of those pesky issues I was fighting.
P.S. after you relock, the phone will NOT reboot. Just keep it on "bootloader usb" and then run the RUU from your computer. Then unlock again. It will be all updated and run great.
I would suggest waiting as well. Chances are your missed calls and texts aren't going to be fixed by a new radio

Its being worked on. Nobody is going to announce "oh hay guize I'm working on getting S-OFF". You'll know who is is when they find S-OFF and announce it.
What makes you think 1.19 will be found first? That doesn't really make sense.
I just think it makes more sense to have the latest radio. It was updated by HTC for a reason and everyone that wants it, not being s-off already, has to do what I did. Consequently, since the update I have LTE nearly everywhere I go in NW Houston, prior to the update was spotty connectivity at best.

Most people don't have LTE coverage yet, so for most the radio isn't worth hboot 1.19

Unless of course, you're having issues running a custom rom on the latest firmware and older hboot. Then, one may wish to look at the options even if they are the "most" as you say or the least as I clearly represent in your estimation.

HTC dev bootloader unlock/relock and the next OTA

I unlocked my bootloader on my LTEVO using the HTCdev method hoping to be able to run the ICS RUU because I dont like a lot of the problems that came with JB. Unfortunately I learned that it will not work with the new 2.09 hboot and so I cannot downgrade back to ICS. So I went ahead and relocked the bootloader which now says "relocked".
My question is whenever the next OTA comes through will it reset my bootloader to say locked" or will it remain "relocked"?
I will always say relocked unless u s-off and customize your bootloader

You have to have your bootloader locked or relockedto accept and OTA. I'M REALLY not positive about needing to have stock recovery installed.
Really been s-off makes life so much easier because u can flash the update thru bootloader without relocking, losing root etc. You should keep an eye out on the dirty racoon thread because one of the team unlimited devs posted a sreenie. Of boot 2.09 with s-off.
Not to repeat myself but s-off really is the way to go. As for the problems u have with the update it seems it's the s-on people that r having the most issues..
Good luck man
Edit...........why u don't flash an ics rom if jb is pissing u off so much. I ran Ics after the jb. Update with no problems

I'm not rooted and honestly don't want to get involved with rooting as I am a super noob when it comes to this stuff. I just want to get back to stock, unrooted, locked hboot, ics. I really don't want to deal with rooted and custom roms which often seem to have things not 100% functioning properly or other issues with accepting ota's and other horror stories I've read about. I just don't have the time to mess with it all. I just want to go back to stock everything.
Sorry to inform you once you unlocked you can't change it back to locked only relocked unless your s-off

I am guessing it is for Tmobile?
I have that same version.
It disables revone or moonshine for working so essentially s-off.
I was able to still unlock the bootloader via HTCDev and root using TWRP and SuperSU.
Not really sure what s-off does, since I am able to load custom roms and etc. with current setup anyways....
....
S-off lets us convert to the full GPE version and get ota. I hope devs find a way of getting s-off on 531.11

s-off is security check off. it stops the bootloader from checking for signatures pretty much letting you flash Whatever aslong as the recovery accepts it. can also turn off the recoveries signature check but thats alot easier to do as the recovery alows you to do so freely.
And anyone wouldnt happen to know more info on this would they. as ive noticed sense i did the manual OTA update via HTC's site, regaining s-off is proving to be imensley didficult. "i s-on'd whiel debugging things and regret it lol"
From what I have been able to gather the updated 1.44 or 1.54 cannot be s-offed using revone or moonshine currently.
I'm pretty happy right now, all I care about is GPe 4.3 anyways. Running of 4.3 ROM, firmware, and radio with just unlocked boot loader
