Unlocked with S-On
Hboot -2.09
Can go into recovery but will not boot a rom
Hboot says no image or wroing image
any ideas?
What ROM are you trying to flash, and how are you trying to flash it? Custom ROM's are typically flashed through recovery, not Hboot (bootloader).

CM10 through recovery, none works.

When you flash the ROM through recovery, what happens? Do you get any sort of error message? Does the phone go into a boot loop, hang on the splash screen, or what?
Sent using my HTC EVO LTE and a magic wand
The ROM installs and then go into a boot loop. Sorry I am learning as I go.
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using xda app-developers app
Sounds like you need to flash the kernel separately from the ROM itself since you are S-on (I don't believe CM10 includes a kernel installer for those that are S-on). You will need to use something like Flash Image GUI (an app available on the Play Store) to flash the kernel separately from the ROM so it will boot.

Yes! Thank you very much. I installed kernel separately and that did the trick. Now I shall work on installing jb.

Hello Guys!
First of all, i wanna apologize. I know this thread might be rude because im noob but i need my phone in 2 days (since i got trip to france)
Im on GSM Evo 3d Hboot 1.53. I tried to flash King Cobra ICS rom. I got bootloops. I tried to fix it as here on htcevohacks site using DumLock . It havent helped. I was using 4ext recovery and i think it is a problem. Now i changed my recovery to CWM Revolutionary. When i reboot (or boot) my phone normally or after restore of my normal room it boots up with 4ext recovery. What should I do?
Thanks very much for your help! i Need this damn phone!
Can you access the recovery?
Are you s-on or s-off?
If you're s-on, then go into 4ext recovery and enable smart flash, then flash a working custom rom (plenty of them out there)
Do the same if you're s-off, just don't enable smart flash
Remember to wipe all the normal partitions before flashing, this will wipe all your data though

Since this is an emergency, I recommend you flash a Gingerbread Rom since those seem to flash better with s-on phones. Use 4ext and set it to s-on mode. Then flash a GB Rom like leedroid or mwakious.

Good to know. I'm CDMA, so I learn about Gsm from the Gsm people.

1. Download CoolExe's ROM
2. Copy boot.img from that ROM into your adb folder
3. Install ROM trough cwm
4. Reboot into Fastboot and use
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
5. Reboot.
This worked for me, after unlocking (htcdev) and installing cwm on 1.53.007 hboot.

I've previously rooted my EVO 4G and just recently, my Transformer TF101.
I'm finally bored enough with my EVO LTE. I booted to the Recovery/info screen and snagged a screenshot (attached).
I'd rather NOT wipe everything off my phone by using HTC's unlock.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I thought 1.15 was latest.....o.o
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
1.19 is the latest hboot and as far as I know the only way to root is to unlock hboot. There is a universal root tool but it won't let you flash roms and if I'm not mistaken it still unlocks hboot on newer htc phones
I have the new HBOOT 1.19 and Im unlocked, rooted and have TWRP recovery. Being s-on or s-off isn't a big deal. I could pretty much do what anyone with s-off could do but only thing is I have to approach it differently.

I have hboot 1.19 and my software version is 2.13.651.1 710RD. I'm unlocked, rooted and also have TWRP recovery and am s-on. When I rooted my phone it also gave me SuperSU. I'm super lost now because I can't flash any ROMs to my phone. I've tried the charmeleon ROM and also the tranquility ROM but when TWRP is at the end of the Installing process it says that it failed and that there is no md5 or something like that.
what am I doing wrong?
You have to flash the kernel separately unless you're S-off (or Hboot 1.12, then it doesn't matter).

Does anyone know of any kernels that would work for the Evo LTE with what I described up top?
Get the ROM you wanna flash, then pull the boot.IMG out of it's zip , then either fastboot flash that or use flash image GUI to flash while booted, the go to recovery and flash new ROM.
Boot.IMG contains the kernel.

MeanROM and JellyBomb Domination as well as others have kernel installers written into the script for people that are S-ON so no need to flash the kernel separatly. Click the names in my SIG to go to those threads
Also make sure you are using the latest version of twrp 2.3.1.0

Do you know how to get a recovery log? Depending on your recovery you should find an option to copy recovery log to sdcard. Normally it is under developer options or extra.
Boot into recovery flash a sense gingerbread ROM (meanrom 4.5 would be a good choice) after flashing copy log to sdcard. If you are using 4ext (recomended) the log will be in the 4ext folder cwm and twrp put them in the root directory. Once you have a log attach it to your post.
Also if you are using 4ext make sure you use the s-on smart flash option.

I just tried flashing with several different roms and copied a fresh log
Okay looked over the log. None of the files you tried flashing will work that way. The pg86img is a to be flashed in the bootloader same with the twrp.zip. Your superwipes are not designed for this phone one is for the amaze the other is for the jewel aka evo LTE. Flashing those could brick your phone!!
Now on another note your firmware is too old to run ics/jb aosp roms and sense ics roms most sense ics roms need hboot 1.58.
Try this... download meanrom 4.5 and enable smart flash. Then install the ROM and report back.

You can. I would only suggest upgrading your firmware. Stick with the hboot you have. I will give you a link to the firmware in a bit. With updated firmware you can run ics/jb aosp roms such as cm10.1 or pacman.

Hey I have a HTC evo 3d gsm EMEA x515 hboot 1.53.007 stock ICS, as I said in description.
I unlocked bootloader via HTC dev method, then I installed recovery and I rooted it .Then I tried to flash kitkat trough recovery. After flashing it said <installation aborted> and i rebooted.
Now I am in bootloop: when i turn the phone on it shows the htc boot logo then after about 30 secs it restarts and show again htc logo and again restars.
I can get into bootloader , cwm recovery.
I tried to flash a rom but now it appears htc logo then a lighted black screen.
I read some other posts and it sais to flash the boot.img icluded in rom.
I have the boot.img but now i don't know how to flash it.
please someone tell me how
It's because the 1.53 hboot is not compatible with kitkat or other ics + roms ,you can flash the srock ics rom or cool ics or other ics rom's but not kitkat, try to flash the CoolICS rom
Sent from my Evo 3D GSM using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Did you backup your rooted stock rom before flashing?
If yes restore it.
If you don't have 4ext recovery, install it.
The easiest way is to use the recovery updater app.
When you install 4ext recovery with this app, you are asked if you're s-on.
If you click yes, the smart installer feature will be activated in 4ext.
This means, you don't have to flash the boot.img separately with fastboot.
If you want to install other than ICS sense roms, you have to do the wire trick to get s-off (look here) for instructions and forget any other tutorial.
