No 3g/h after flash via kies. Reflash required? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I commented on a previous post about how great my battery is on 4.1.2 with wifi on, much better than 4.1.1, was draining at about 0.7-1% per hour overnight with 5 hours screen on time.
Anyway, last night I thought I would try something else and when I went to bed I turned off wifi and left on 3g. What a mistake! Battery drained from 71% to 24% in 7 hours. Thats about 6% per hour!
Nothing else has changed, no apps were left running. My screenshot looks like it couldnt go back to sleep on 3g? I dont have wifi at work and need my phone during the day, recommendations? Flash back to 4.1.1? I've seen others complaining about same issue on 3g but as mentioned above, couldnt find the thread. On the screenshot, where wifi turns off the third time was when I went to sleep- the battery hemoragies at this point.

I just checked my data usage last night and nothing was used so it wasn't a app syncing or anything, just doesn't like been on 3G!

If I turn wifi off and turn mobile data also off, it hardly drains at all. As soon as mobile data is on, it's constantly awake. I have quite a good signal also. Most strange.
I will just keep wifi off and mobile data off at work, I may get more work done anyway!

Hi check this thread out some usefull ideas and tips regarding greatly increasing battery life for heavy users .. all tips are tested ..good luck
Anyhow here is the link

Ok, I have found my problem, sort of. Just realised, when wifi is not on, even though I have a h in top screen, I'm getting no data. Tried running some speed tests etc and didn't work at all. The orange download arrow is never on and the green upload arrow is nearly always on. I'm wondering if I have had a bad flash? Did it via kies. I'm on o2uk if that helps. Tried switching to 2g and I get a icon, with orange and green arrows but still no data! Just spoke to o2 and they have resent me all my 3g internet settings etc but still not working.
Can anyone help please?

Thanks for all the help!
I have reflashed via Odin and that didn't resolve it. I have then done a complete factory reset and that hasn't resolved it either. What should I do now? Is it a rma job?

[Q] No Service in Standby / Sleep

If anyone can shed some light on this issue or a fix please let me know. When I am using my phone I get "No Service" when in standby mode or when waking up from sleep (but most of the time still shows full bars). I have tried:
Changing builds
Changing kernels
Changing radios
even swapped out the SIM
Anyone have any ideas? Settings changes or otherwise?

Maybe this is why sometimes when i look at my battery usage in standby, apparently like 80% of my battery is used over night and lets say 72% of that time was spent searching for a signal.
Here's some additional information on what I've found:
- If I turn on Edge (use 2g neworks) I don't see the behavior.
- If i boot into WM I noticed the phone will jump back and forth between 3G Tmobile and Tmobile, but it still has full service for each.
I wonder if it has something to do with the attempts to switch between edge and 3g in this particular area and android not being able to stay connected while doing this.
I want to reiterate that I have literally tried everything I know of to fix this:
- Hard reset
- Changed sim card, ROM, builds (some PPP some RMNET), radios
I'm out of ideas.
Something to enhance this theory..

No Service in standby
Hi I am also facing the same issue, i am using the build Mdeejay eVo Sense v. 2.3 rEVOlution, when the phone goes to standby after some time when i try to unlock the phone i see "No Service" on the lock scree, as soon as i unlock it gets the t-mobile signal. Did you guys find any solution for this problem? i am using US t-mobile HD2( i haven't tried upgrading radio or rom).
Thanks
I haven't found a solution, but try putting your phone into 2g only mode. For me this tends to alleviate the problem. Also, some areas this doesn't happen for me, so in those areas I leave the 3g on.
Keep posting if you guys find anything else..
No service in voyo a18
Hello everyone, I recently bought this Chinese tablet voyo a18,its having strange issue for no service when ever I turn the screen off but it receives the signals again on awake, any thoughts Please?

[Q] Am I suffering from the battery drainage issue?

Hey, got my phone yesterday and it's been great.
Updated to KE7 via Kies and I haven't done root yet.
Battery is good. 3G or wifi always on, but when I see the battery stats, they show high percentage of Android OS (16%) and Android System (19%).
Also, 9% of Wi-fi sharing, but I haven't used it yet.
Is there a way to reduce this numbers?
Is it ok if I kill wi-fi sharing here?
Thanks

Just use the phone and dont be another paranoid about usage stats .
You can kill WiFi sharing its sharing your WiFi with others for free .
The page you are looking at says of the xxx amount of power used
the power has been used mostly by the display etc etc .
It is not a measure of the battery power just how its total use has been proportioned out .
No battery stats 100% charged switch on Display shows 74% .
Thats 74% of the 1/4 % of battery used not 74% of the battery .
jje
I don't have wifi sharing turned on it with KE7 it keeps using up the most resources of anything. I ended up having to freeze it.

thanks man.
I'm not paranoid yet.
I'm just concerned if my phone may have any issues.
Actually I don't notice any of the problems people report here.
GPS is locking fine, battery is good. Wi-fi keeps on most of times, it's not getting too hot, etc.
I've just done my first full charge since yesterday.
I'll see how it will perform.
Another question. I can't turn data off. Downloaded APNdroid but it doesn't turn it off.
Is there a way I can put a toggle in the notification bar with wi-fi, GPS, etc?

[Q] Please help with my battery issue

I really need help understanding what is draining my battery, sometimes even while it is charging.
I'm rooted, and on Simply Honey 5.1
I've set up my Facebook to sync once a day, Titanium Backup to backup 2ce a week, and usually, while I am sleeping, all my wifi/bt/gps etc are off.
Recently, i've noticed that while my battery is charging at night, i wake up with a low charge (50 - 70% range), and that basically my battery has been draining at the same time.
I installed Watchdog lite, and have had System Panel monitoring my system.
Here are some screen shots.
System Panel - Plot - 8 hours - battery drain even while charging. CPU is being used a lot, even though the device has not been touched.

}
System Panel - Top Apps - 8 hours. System, system process, calendar storage seem to be using a lot of CPU
Watchdog Lite - Android Process Home Screen - what is that? and Facebook doing it's daily sync, I assume.
Can anyone explain to me what System, and System processes do? Also, what is Android Core (Home Screen), and why would that run, if the device is asleep?
Any answers would be much appreciated!
Thank you!
I ran into the same problem, what I did I went ahead and got juice defender from market. It allowed me to turn off all radios at night. This allowed the phone to remain charged the whole night. Also while charging I activate the clock app and dimmed the screen at night while charging this also helped the phone to charge 100%.
Sent from my T959 using xda premium
I have juice defender already, but i don't turn off all my radios at night, because i do want phone calls to come though if they have to. wifi/bluetooth and gps are all turned off though.
I'm really wondering what Android Core (Home Screen) and System/System Processes are, and why they are eating so much battery.
Thanks for your help, fear676
have you tried clearing your cache and fixing permissions? since juice defender doesnt work, you can try to uninstall facebook and see if that changes anything. i know that i had a problem with both facebooks on my vibrant and i set the integrated account to sync once a day and the app to never sync.
i also had a problem on my SGS4G where my android core killed my battery in 2 hours randomly. i ended up having to reformat everything on the phone and reflashing the rom.

If you enable 3G and WiFi at the same time Android will only use one connection, first will try to connect via WiFi and if not will connect via 3G. It won't connect via WiFi AND 3G at the same time.
Yes its normal.
looks pretty similar to what I have seen on mine.
The main exception is the Awake time without the sreen being on? Maybe something still running. I found my biggest battery killer for backround apps was my Jorte / calendar running when using alarms on appointments.
stopped that and much better!
Alright thnx mate and how do u came to know that which app created problems regarding awake ?
seems to be awake for quite a bit there in the middle without the screen on. is that just music streaming??
its normal

Better Battery stats is very helpfull for seeing what is potentially eating battery life, whilst the screen is of.
This is a thread on maximising battery life - quite helpfull! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351663&highlight=better+battery+stat
This thread explains and shows what Android OS is and is not - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18140918
Here is thread for better battery stats, well worth a read all the way through the first 2 posts - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
The partial Wakelocks was the most telling for me, cant remember the exect procces now but for me it was something like: android.starting.alarm.calendar (I know thats not it exact, but it was always high!!)

Incredibly annoying battery drain/WiFi connected but no internet issue

My phone has a very strange issue which I'm unable to fix. It happens totally randomly. Sometimes it occurs multiple times a day, then it won't happen for weeks.
It goes like this: Sometimes, even though I'm connected to my WiFi network, apps won't connect to the internet. However, the apps won't give me an error message telling me that I'm diconnected. As the WiFi symbol is active, the phone probably thinks it's online while it's actually not. All apps are affected.
At the same time, the battery drains rapidly (about 10% per hour in standby) and the phone gets slightly warmer. Maybe it is trying to connect all its services to the internet, fails constantly and therefore gets warmer?
This battery drain has also occured in flight mode, so it is not necessarily a WiFi problem. It has happened in various WiFi networks and my other devices don't get disconnected, so the reason must be within the phone.
I've done multiple factory resets but it didn't help. I'm tired of doing factory resets. The only way to temporarily fix it is turning the WiFi on and off again or rebooting the phone. I'm on Oreo btw.
I should add that this only begins when the phone is in standby. When the screen is on, i.e. I'm actively using the phone, I do of course notice the issue but it starts before waking up the phone from standby. That makes me believe it has something to do with standby / Android doze.
Someone on Reddit suggested that it might be due to Android Doze. I followed the advice there, went to Settings > General > Battery > Power saving exclusions, switched on the WiFi and restarted the phone. That was two days ago and there's still no improvement.
Apart from that, battery life is bad overall, even when the WiFi issue doesn't occur. Just see this screenshot from today below. It's almost as if the phone has a bad day sometimes and drains the battery for no apparent reason. Then, on other days, it's better but still nowhere where it could be according to other V30 owners' screenshots.
What can I do?
It is really really annoying!

Not sure if this would help or not but try (from the playstore) Greenify. It works best if device is rooted but also works (give permissions through adb) without root.
Would it fix the problem? Oh no, doubt that. It *might* point to what's going on though?
