[Q] Stock 4.1.2 mail app fit to screen? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have to set up an Exchange account to get my work email, and I must say that the stock 4.1.2 mail app is pretty good, except for one thing - I can't figure out how to fit the emails to screen like I can in the Gmail app. Even if I pinch to zoom out, it will still not fit the whole (HTML) email to screen.
Please tell me that there is some way around it. I have looked at the other mail apps (K9, EE, etc), and I just don't like them.

Gmail items not actually being marked read.

Gmail is acting kind of funky on this phone...
Every now and then Ill take a look at the Gmail account on my phone and Ill see:
Inbox (1)
But all my emails have been marked read on the phone. So Ill log in on a desktop, and see that one of my e-mails is unread, even though I just marked it read on my phone.
Sometimes Ill get a zero unread count in my app, login on a desktop and see that Ive got 3 or more that were never marked read.
Gmail used to be the best email experience out there on a mobile device, in my opinion. But its now gotten to the point where this bug plagues just about every email I receive.
Am I the only one? Is there even any action I take to prevent this?
Sounds like a syncing issue. Everything works fine for me. Are you on a custom ROM?
Stock rooted.
I seem to remember having the same issue on my G1 and the myTouch Slide, though not to this gravity. I guess it must have something to do with my account itself, but I would really hope not. Starting over with a new Gmail isnt the most elegant solution...
I'm getting this today too. Frustrating.
my wife's Vibrant can't even sync with gmail since yesterday

K-9 Mail - Some links in emails do not open? Works fine on Droid X.

Hi guys,
Recently I noticed with a bunch of e-mails that I received in K-9 mail app, that normal hyperlinks to websites in e-mail bodies do not open the browser at all or do anything. They are clickable, but nothing happens when clicked.
Since I receive the same exact emails on my Droid X in K-9 (same Gmail account), I tested on there and those same links work just fine and open in Dolphin HD. I don't get it??
I made sure the Tab has Dolphin Browser set as default, it does. No other browsers are installed besides the stock one. I even downloaded Dolphin Mini and removed the default selection from Dolphin HD (so technically the links should prompt which of the 3 browsers I want to open the sites with), but still, nothing at all happens when I click them.
Keep in mind this is most links in emails but not all. There seems to be no difference among the links that work and don't work. Again, they ALL work on my DX.
K-9 mail was good on GTab 7 but not so good on 10.1. I uninstalled it and using the stock e-mail client which is perfect.
Well K-9 is perfect on the 10.1 just like on my DX except for this issue. I'd like to continue using it if possible.
Doesn't the stock email client (the icon is the letter with the red circle seal over it right?) not do push email? Going through setup now, it only gave me options for interval poll checking for my gmail??
EDIT: Oh you mean the Gmail app, not the Email app.
I guess I'll try this since it has cool tablet columns support, but I really love that you can theme and edit every bit of K-9 in settings (colors, font sizes, number of text lines, etc). I would really love to figure out the links problem in K-9. Damn.

[Q] Email Low Importance

Quick question.......Trying to help a friend out.
He just set up his phone but all his emails are being sent out with "Low Importance" and he can't seem to find the setting. I haven't looked at the phone personally....Can anyone point me in the right direction to turn that off?
Thanks,
KB
is he using the gmail app, the other stock email app or a 3rd party email app? kinda need more information.
He's using the built in email app......His yahoo mail is also setup. I guess he says his yahoo and work email are in the same app, he opens them together.
anyone ever find an answer to this? I am having the same issue on my AT&T Galaxy s2
This seems to be a bug. I have the same issue with the stock email client. I use K9 instead.

GO SMS Contact Picture issue

anyone else here use go sms? i can't figure out why, but for the contact pictures, it's pulling everyones picture from their google picture i have on there (which was from syncmypix like MONTHS ago, so they're all outdated)
i have checked "pull pictures from facebook" and have checked email, name and number..and it doesn't work. this worked correctly on my incredible, and it was able to pull their facebook images in gosms fine...won't work with the rezound.
anyone else have any insight? i'm wondering if it's because they got rid of Facebook for HTC Sense and only use the facebook app for syncing now :\
Mine has Display Facebook avatars checked and I have it Match by Name. It seems to prefer facebook avatars over what are in my google contacts. Not sure if any of that helps you :/
wtf mines opposite, it shows google pics over facebook, which is really annoying lol
Mines the same, if I have any Google photos, it shows those instead of Facebook. Where as it shows Facebook on GO Contacts. No matter how I configure the settings. It's weird. Lol.
I had this same issue. What I found out, is the official Facebook app does not support access to the friend photos by third party apps. That's why it uses the google contact photo instead.
The older phones had Facebook for HTC Sense, that obviously is not the official facebook app so it allowed third party access to the photos. I have run into the same issue with SMS popup. Try using Friend Caster to sync facebook photos to your contacts, that'll allow third party apps to access the photos.
I just deleted google photos and it defaulted to the Facebook ones
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
i cant confirm this works but i have heard it works..

let me know if it does
guys, great responses!
i didn't know friendcaster replaced facebook in terms of contact pics..i tried using it once and didn't really like it's UI.
as for that script, i'm going to run that tomorrow. i'm perm rooted, so he says you should just be able to push some lines of code to get it to work. great find, guys!!
I'm a huge fan of GoSMS, its definitely the best out of the third party sms apps on the Android market!
Handcent on the other hand seems to display up to date contact pictures. Which does it take from though, Google contacts or the Facebook app?
So basically GoSMS previously synced pictures from HTC Sense's Facebook, but now in Sense 3.5 it no longer exists being replaced by the offical Facebook app which doesn't allow access by 3rd party apps :/

Click to collapse
I know this thread has been quiet for a couple weeks, but just wanted to confirm that did indeed do the trick. I use Handcent normally, but I did download Go SMS real quick to test and that showed my contact pictures again too.

Stock Email And Browser

my phone should be coming in tomorrow
ive had the motorola droid series of phones since the star 1,2,and currenly 3 with this phone i got lazy with new apps and really trying out much
but with my dna i intend to really get back into it and use it for all its worth
so my first 2 questions about apps would be how is the stock email and stock browser
currently i use k-9 email and dolphin hd browser
should i stick with stock on dna for both of these if not what do you recommend as an email and browser client if not k-9,dolphin or stock
I like the sense mail app actually. That, and the gmail one.
I saw a review of 'mailbox' on the verge the other day, looked great, but only for iPhone. It looked a lot like sparrow. Wish we could get one of those mail apps over here on android.
I use Chrome more than the default browser. I like the gesture features and that it's pretty much just the desktop version and syncs all my bookmarks and history. I'm not such a huge fan of the stock email app. I use it for my work Exchange email, and all of the messages pretty much have letterhead images or documents and I've had to go into the setting and tell the app to download all attachments to get all the images as soon as I open the email. Otherwise it takes FOREVER to get the full message downloaded. Just my .02.
