Xperia U does not fast boot - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I have installed the correct drivers from C:\Flashtool\drivers.
I then connect the USB cable into my PC, hold the volume up button and connect my phone to it, but it just starts charging.
I have used the search function, but it was of no help.

Did you unlock the bootloader ? You cant get fastboot access without unlocking the bootloader
Hope it helps !
Cheers

Since you had a doubt, I thought Id just clarify, Fastboot isnt the only way to flash Kernels. We can also do it via Flashtool and CWM Only thing is, if the kernel we flash isnt Sony-signed (ie, its not released by Sony themselves and unmodified) only an unlocked bootloader device can run that kernel

Fast boot does work without an unlocked boot loader. (At the least, the phone does connect in Fast boot.)
Was the phone off when you attempted to connect it (in fast boot )?

Yes you should be able to flash wizard love rom or the rom that your device was shipped with.
Just download either of these roms then put your device into bootloader mode. Make sure that the word USB is visible in the lower left corner of the bootloader screen when you plug in your usb cable. Then you just have to execute the installer of the rom that you downloaded.
If you get an error message you can use precautionary measures such as killing wcescomme.exe in task manager, turn firewall off, remove memory card, reboot pc etc.
Good Luck
Thnx for reply.
Eqx also just sent me mail and told me the same thing.
I am just busy charging the battery before i attempt another go at repairing the phone, i want to make sure that all goes smooth this time.
Will post my sucess or failure when i am done.

[Q] Xperia P {Fastboot Issue on Branded Handset}

Hi Guys. I own a Branded (O2) Xperia P on stock 6.1.B.0.5.44 ICS.
I am trying to access fastboot so I am able to install a unbranded stock rom on my Stock Handset.
To do this; i know i have to access fastboot however i am unable to do so. I have tried every method possible however my handset still goes into charging mode (Hold Volume down then insert usb, Volume up then insert usb, Both volume keys then insert USB)
Just to let you lot know I have read through every thread related to users not being able to access Fastboot however I still haven't found a solution on how to Access It. I have tried manually installing the fastboot drivers however I still wasen't able to access fastboot.

to use fastboot to flash a new kernel you need to have a unlocked bootloader

follow the instructions on this site to see if you can

[Q] C6833 Sony Z Ultra - Can not enter fastboot but flash mode?

Hi Dev's,
verified the bootloader can be unlocked via *#*#7378423#*#*
installed the fastboot, flashmode & sony xperia z ultra drivers from the flashtool 0.9.18.2 installer (flashtool.net)
on windows 8.1 with deactivated driver compatibility check.
Now i've tried all 3 methods to enter into fastboot mode from here
(theandroidsoul.com/sony-xperia-z-ultra-fastboot-mode)
via volume up + usb in, adb & quick boot reboot (even if the device is not rooted at the moment)
, but no success. The device always starts into flashmode, and this is the only state being recognized by the flashtool in windows. All hardware keys are working fine.
Any more ideas how to enter fastboot? I am really stucked at the moment.
Thank you!
what does it do on vol down and usb in?
You are doing this from a powered off state?
Hi,
I really tried every method and button combination. it is just the same as in this thread I found later.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2716418
Seems like the fastboot mode is being hardware locked or something.
I return the device tomorrow, and check a new one (if I get) with android 4.2 stock Rom.

M4 (E2303) stuck at Sony Logo - bootloader is not unlockable - Have NO recovery

Hi - have been searching these forums for days now but cant find a solution.
I am OK at flashing etc but am stuck now. Phone is stuck at Sony logo and won't go any further.
Phone is an Xperia M4 (E2303) and the bootloader is locked - have tried unlocking it but get 'Failed - command not allowed' so i'm guessing it is not unlockable!
I can't get into recovery (nothing happens when i try) and cant get into FlashMode either. I plug usb into phone while holding the volume down key. I CAN get into Fastboot mode which seems to work fine and is recognized ok by PC - drivers all installed ok.
Is there a way of flashing an FTF using Fastboot rather than Flashmode? or even installing any recovery. I have 32 and 64-bit Flashtool installed, i have FTF files and i have EMMA.
Can anyone help please? I would be very grateful - many thanks - ian
With bootloader locker you won't be able to flash anything. I had the same problem.
Desperately, my friend thought it was a good idea to put the phone on the refrigerator for a while.
Surprisingly, in the next day, I turned it on and the cold phone booted normaly and then I was able to set OEM unlock authorization on developer settings and unlocked the bootloader with sony unlock key.
Then I tried to flash a twrp, but I'm stuck back on boot loop again, and fridge didn't help this time.
Power OFF phone, then hold together for at least 30 sec in this order "volume down" + "volume up" + "power button". Then release 3 buttons and try to power on phone with power button. This procedure will revert your phone back to default settings.

Hi there,
Same problem as OP here.
I am trying to revive my wife ex-phone, model 2303 which has been forgotten for two years at least.
Stock rom
No root
Bootloader locked
Stuck at Sony Logo when starting up the phone.
Can boot in FastBoot (blue light) and is detected by PC
Can boot in FlashMode (green light) but PC doesn't detect anything. Nothing appears in Peripherals.
Any advices ?
What can be done in FastBoot mode with a locked bootloader ?

Also Xperia companion will install all needed drivers and could also recover device.
https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00236877
Thank your for your advices.
But in Flashmode the phone does not even appear in computer peripherals manager.
In FastBoot, Sony Emma does not detect phone neither.

Have you tried using an older version of flashtool ?
Hi, sorry for the late reply.
Which version of flashtool would you recommend ?
Would it change anything as the phone is not detected in device manager anyway ?

Xperia 1 Bootloop

Xperia 1 goes on boot loop after flashing the ROM.
What happened.
>Flashed Xperia 1 using new flasher.
>Device started and while setup went on boot loop with a message"Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot. Your device will be powered off in 5 seconds."
I tried to repair using Xperia Companion but it won't stay to the Flashmode. It goes on loop with the message.
Used original cable and things.
But the device goes to fastboot mode if I press volume up during plugging.
Flashtool and new flasher cannot since the device won't go to flashmode while volume down and plugging.
What can I do further? Please help.
Does the phone turn on again after it automatically turns off?
What region did you flash btw?
It turns on and off automatically in two of the cases.
1. Connected to the PC.
2. Connected to the charger.
But stays in Fastboot mode connected to PC.
I was getting bootlops after flashing rom (locked bootloader, wanted to change region), using both newflasher and flashtool. In my case the problem was i had to wipe/format reset when flashing with flashtool, otherwise got a bootloop.
Once phone is booting, force a shutdown with volume + and power at the same time, then hold volume - and connect to pc, then use flashtool.

Yes, I tried that way but the problem is it won't stay in Flashmode. It shows that warning and goes to bootloop.
I still can see the light turns green while doing so but cannot hold.
Same with me, recover using pc companion and use good cable..
The problem i have because using bad cable

Thanks!
My phone doesn't stay in flashmode.
It only stay without loop and message in Fastboot mode.
Else would have flashed already!!
Yes my phone always said my phone not trusted..
I tried using newflashe always failed.
But after chae the cable and recovery from pc companion now its work
I agree, it might be PC problem (drivers) or cable definitelly. Try diferent cable and diferent pc, go to someone with PC and try with his cable

Thank you but the thing doesn't work.
I tried on Windows 7 PC ;
Installed Xperia Companion and Xperia one driver and yet again it booted into fastbootmode but not flashmode.
I used USB C-C cable, and then another sony phone cable but it didn't work.
I even tried a short cable of a battery bank.
Thats strange. Can you write in details what you have flashed and what you have skipped? Did you done something with your trim area?
Hi @munjeni
I unluckily flashed new device J8110. It was a new firmware for device named Sphinx or something similar which isn't released yet.
It was to be j9110 actually. I then flashed the firmware through new flasher. I flashed everything. Then device booted and during setup steps it rebooted. Then I knew the device was different.
I tried flashing J 9110 but then the device started showing the mesaage.
Why don't you reflash trought fastboot? Boot an recovery image with fastboot:
fastboot boot recovery.img
you will need to unlock bootloader to be able to do that. Trought recovery and adb to recovery you can do many things e.g. flash an custom rom... etc, just for idea.
I have thought of it but loosing drm keys was reason.

Doesn't matter anyway as you need access to the phone to toggle OEM unlock before unlocking bootloader
So..
What should I be doing?

But do you have choice? Did you tried?
fastboot erase userdata
Usedata sometimes cause boot loop and message on screen about corruption. Another thing which I curently thinking about, is your battery charged? Maybe empty battery don't allow you to get into flash mode.

I'm not sure. It was more than 50% when I did everything.
Not sure now.
Will it charge in fastboot mode?
I don't own device to be able to tell you. Seems you are not only one who have problem with flashmode, here https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/xperia-z3v-general/bricked-sony-z3v-access-fastboot-t3510214 . Did you tried to erase userdata trought fastboot? I'm believing you will need to unlock bootloader first because you have no choice with locked bootloader because everything you try going to give you "command not allowed". Unlock bootloader, install an recovery, trought recovery you can reflash broken things, e.g. reguest from somebody with same device to give you raw partitions dump (excluding trim area, system, data, cache) and use DD command to reflash it on your phone, remember do not touch trim area, its on first partition! Good luck!

That link is 3 years old....
Without access to the phone there will be no access to the OEM unlock. Without that I don't think the bootloader can be unlocked.
It's hard to properly brick a sony phone with flashmode. With previous ones a different PC with different cables etc has worked
