It is expected to be released February 2013 and after Windows Phone 8 "Apollo Plus" update. It is no easy feat to interop/develop unlock the Titan I and currently impossible to either with the Titan II. I share your frustration; I have one device unlocked and what that device can do compared to my wife's "locked" device; amazing. It is unclear whether the official 7.8 update will have more than the start menu resizing tile feature. There is some talk that Skype maybe "baked" or be able to run in background with the upcoming release. Like many, I share questions as to the logic behind their thinking with Windows Phone 7.x. They said the same thing for Windows Mobile 6.x users too.

Are you referring to carrier release? It's already out as a custom release.

I think he's referring to carrier which if AT&T he might never get; I read over on the Titan II - Radiant some guy made a stock ROM with 8112 build and I said to myself why would someone go through the trouble of making a stock ROM if WP7 Cab Sender will get you to 8773 at the very least. I'm not aware AT&T is releasing 7.8 to its users but this is something Microsoft is doing directly, but I don't know; I'm sick of the both of them and how overall throughout Windows Mobile 6.x and Windows Phone 7.x they have treated a very loyal customer base that certainly hasn't deserved being abandoned; why they made the Titan II the way they did is inexcusable. As for the Titan I, I'm living proof there is a Plan B to HSPL your Titan I by other than conventional straight up by the book instructions, but neither is it for the faint of heart or lack of patience.

If we see it, I think it'll be a positive sign that the carriers listen to the voices of users wanting (demanding) updates and similar featuresets to other models of the same handset (not stripped down) but I'd be really surprised if we ever see another official update out of AT&T for the Note.
We're under contract for two years, IMO we should get good support and reasonable updates for those two years.
I still think if carriers didn't screw with the updates so much, they could get them out faster and cheaper, but I doubt that'll happen

true but not exactly what I meant. What I mean is say Samung goes to release say the Note 3, they write an ASOP rom, and then another that has all of the touchwiz, multiple windows and other cool samsung apps. When the phone hits the carrier, it will inevitably be laced with AT&T bloatware, but we'd still have the original ASOP from sammy to choose from. Now I know in this model there's no way a company like Samsung could maintain 2 ROMs for every phone, but I think many of us would prefer to go without touchwiz for a clean experience and true customizability that Android was meant to be.
Really though, if Google went to more of a modular design instead of encoding the hardware drivers within a kernel that would be the end all of that. Yes I do understand that kernal compilation with the drivers provides a speedier system, but heck our phones are packing a dual core and it's just linux and linux is quick by nature.
Just my thoughts.

Where is our update to 1.29?

With all the of 4.2 coming out where is the 1.29 update?
I just want the battery enhancement ans camera upgrade.

Indeed 4.1.2 and 1.27.531.7 is what we are stuck with....
Just called T-Mobile and the woman saw nothing about the updates in their system...
She said if you can download the update and apply it from HTC's website that would work, but rooting and using different software would break the warranty.

The rep would not know anything except an update currently in the pipeline, that is, already heading our way. Only someone at Tmo corporate headquarters would know the strategic deployment strategy, and they do not talk. TMO tends to release updates later than other companies.
t-mobile tends to release updates not at all...
a few years ago my smartphone was updated for all carriers except t-mobile. everyone went up an android version while I did not.
who cares how much difference it makes... t-mobile is clearly lazier about updating than other companies and need a push to do so.

Well, for my Amaze 4G, they released the upgrade to ICS after about 5 months. And then very recently they did another upgrade, which would be almost a year later. But that first major update wasn't that late.
The way I look at it, if you're using these forums, you shouldn't have to wait for carrier updates. HTC did announce that an update is in the works.

AT&T One X+ 4.2.2 Update Guide with RUU

Update Details: http://www.htc.com/us/software/software-updates/htc-one-x-sense-5-update/
AT&T RUU: https://s.basketbuild.com/filedl/de...5_18.27.11.35L_release_341689_signed_0220.exe
Sense 5 ROMs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36091570&postcount=1
Q&A
I am on the stock ROM, but my bootloader is unlocked and I am rooted. Can I accept the OTA update?
No, you must relock your bootloader before taking the update. Otherwise, it will do nothing.
Can I accept the OTA update while on a custom ROM like Viper, Elegancia, Blackout, etc?
No, because the OTA checks to see if any files have been tampered with from stock, so your phone will refuse to update. You will have to go back to a stock ROM or flash the RUU to get the update.
Will the Telus One X+ be getting the OTA update?
It looks like Telus isn't getting the update according to this update schedule, which lacks any mention of the X+.
How do I get said update if I am not on the AT&T network?
Your only options at the moment are to flash a custom ROM based on Sense 5 or flash the RUU, as you cannot receive the OTA from AT&T while on another network.
Is there a way to get the update without updating the bootloader?
Yes, flashing a custom ROM based on Sense 5 will give you the update without updating your bootloader.
I tried updating, but it downloaded a 13 MB update and I'm still on Sense 4+. What gives?
The Sense 5 update is a two-part update. The first small update gets the phone ready for the larger and fully Sense 5 update.
But now I have to wait another 24 hours before I can check for updates again! What if I want it NOW?
You can go to Settings > Date and Time and uncheck Automatic Date/Time, then manually set the day ahead by one. This will allow you to check for updates again.
If you still have some unanswered questions or want something clarified leave a reply and I'll see what I can do. :fingers-crossed:
Good to know but I might be moving on to the One.

It could have been a good phone if the development crew behind the OTA updates didn't **** around.
Now everything's been shifted towards newer tech. What a waste, and what I don't get is why were there two different versions of this phone to begin with? I'm sure AT&T is outside the US, and I'm sure the wireless communications are just the same everywhere else. Just plain stupidity in the development chain.

AT&T may also be outside the US, but most international carriers and countries haven't fully taken advantage of LTE as of yet, so that kind of difference is more understandable. Hopefully once the new update comes out development will pick up again. I know I'll be looking into ROM development once the new update releases. :good:

The AT&T version has different radio hardware to the international version. Because of this the devices require different kernels amongst other things. This is why the different roms are not compatible nor will they ever be. This has been explained many times on the forums.

So, the EVO 4G LTE has been confirmed to receive Android 4.3 by the end of the year. I don't know what that means for us, but considering the X+ is almost 6 months newer, there's a very likely chance that we'll receive 4.3 at some point as well!

I think HTC are going to stop supporting older devices even more now. They made a massive quarterly loss this previous quarter. And in fact no smartphone manufacturer that has made this kind of loss has ever survived in one piece. The last two companies to do it was Blackberry and Nokia. Sucks really as HTC are the only smartphones i've ever really liked.

Android 4.4 May cause issues with g2 locked bootloader.

It may make rooting future devices much more difficult. I wonder what bug crawled up Google's butt.

So do we get the pitchforks out and commence advance on LGs social media, etc? To get them to churn out an official build, of course.
It's a great phone and I bought it knowing they might not be quick on the draw. Didn't consider that 4.4 might make all these ROMs all for naught. Still, I needed a faster phone and this certainly fits the bill!
At same time I did know that short of a GSM Nexus that I couldn't have guarantee of latest Android.
I'm stuck on Verizon until March 2013. I can then slap a GSM Sim in, hopefully. But I paid retail so it's not like I want to buy a new phone anytime soon.
Well. I have myself to blame. Again. But I am off contract in March and this will never happen to me again!
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
I am hopeful that when 4.4 comes out our devs will be able find a way for us to upgrade from 4.2 to a custom rooted 4.4 with out any issues. I do think that even stock unrooted this phone is fantastic it is carrier iq that is killing me. I'm sure att will put it in 4.4 also. Even though it was the carriers idea LG allows it to happen so I blame them also.

LG to my knowledge locks the bootloader on all its devices regardless of carrier.
This is troubling. The reason I chose the G2 was because it was the closest thing to the Nexus 5 on Verizon and had good developer support. Hopefully our fantastic developers will figure out a solution.
From what I understand, unless we upgrade to the official 4.4 LG ROM, there is no chance of this happening. Is that correct ?

That's my take on it. It is built into the 4.4 kernel. I wonder if this had anything to do with Google buying Motorola in August. Lock the phones way down for the carriers.

If there will not be a 4.4 rom within 3 months guess it is a dirty shot for those who bought it and want to buy it like me
Looks like I'll be rolling with Nexus devices from now on. I guess it was bound to happen though, I'm sure OEM's wanted another security layer because of bootloader work a rounds. On the upside though, there will be less threads on device release days asking for root and ROM ETA's!
Sent from my Nexus 7
the funny thing even though android are opensource, the phones and hardware are not. Thats where improvement is. If you create an abstraction layer, where due to propriatary stuff its closed and updateable by vendor. Another layer, the OS can go on top, thusly eliminating hardware dependancy as well as increasing updatability. OS and security issues can then more easily be adressed, without the now unduable vendor involvement needed in integrating the new OS with all the hardware specifics. Given the entropy rate of new phones coming out, its undoable. This last, as wel as commercial reasons is why updates and fixes for security holes dont come fast. As of yet.
Right now we see the true devs juggling various devices as the rate of entropy in new devices is higher then more true devs coming in. Devices not even picket up by community cause there are no devs for it. The breaking point has come.
A new design must be made for this momentum, a new standard

I think people who are already rooted will be ok , they will just need to avoid the official 4.4 until a custom rom is built. The bigger problem will be for new unrooted owners. I would imagine it being tricky to flash a custom kernel without the ability to root. I also agree in time the devs will figure something out.

[Q] HeartBleed 4.2.2 on Htc one x + At&T stock

Call me crazy, I have HTC one x + (At&T) running android 4.2.2. (STOCK VERSION, updated from 4.1.1 that came out a few months ago...also locked bootloader and an unrooted device).
I've read multiple articles saying the openSSL bug should not affect my phone. However ever security app I download to test for the bug says I have open SSL version 1.0.1c and the behavior is enabled. Now, i understand that android apps can be packaged with their own version of OpenSSL, but I'm not checking the apps. Lockout app & Blue Box both save I have the bug & it's enabled system wide. Annoyed with HTC customer support because they keep saying i don't have it. Perhaps I'm missing something, but why do multiple secruity apps say I'm vulnerable. Any suggestions would help.
thanks all

I got the same response from htc, they kept saying I was on 4.1.1 and privacy matters. Didn't even listen to me. Hope they fix this...was gonna buy a new phone in a few months. Not sure if HTC will be my first choice unless they can change my mind.

Wifi/BT being one of them..
Going for a sony Z2 now, IF sony can deliver them any time soon.. Like this year at least..

You should since it's not hard do detect when you know what to look for.. .. Didn't expect any difference between One X and One X+ though..

we should get htc over to give us an update with the bug fixed, no matter if we get a new version of android the bug has to be fixed

well there has to be something
right now im trying to put the kitkat openssl version to jellybean to see if it works :d :fingerscrossed:
I read somewhere (android community?) that HTC is thinking about updating the ssl library in all phones.

Old topic, i know but yet to know, the only way i found to fix heartbleed is to upgrade to android kitkat.
I am using mokee rom at 4.4.3 kitkat latest stable and it has openssl 1.0.1e which is vulnerable but heartbeats disabled... So its safe

There is an official update for the International One X+ which fixes the heartbleed vulnerability. I'm not sure whether an official fix for the AT&T version has been released yet though.
