I have to say i don't love this keyboard and frankly it is hard to notice the diff between this and the one that was on here before i flashed GingerBlur ROM
I can't believe there's a Smiley face by default where i would prefer to have a Return key (there's not one there??)
am i missing something...what is everyone else using?
Coming from a hard kybd and having a tough time getting comfortable with the onscreen kybd still

I agree, I think the gb keyboard is crap compaired to other options available. Also not really a fan of the launcher either :- (

I use the new swype beta, really no complaints they made it more streamlined. Better keyboard is pretty good also. Thumb keyboard uses an interesting layout.

Have you tried using the multitouch GB keyboard from the Market aka "Keyboard from Android 2.3"? You can customize the size of the keys and the spacing. I tried to copy the dimensions of my iPhone4 keyboard spacing with it. I believe my settings are, from left to right, 85, 15, 15, 38.
Personally I use Better Keyboard. I couldn't get used to swype for typing words like too / to so I went with a multitouch. Better keyboard has better autocorrect than stock or swiftkey, so that's what I went with. Unfortunately you can't turn off the haptic feedback without getting the pay version, but oh well.

i am using this keyboard and love it. how do you change the spacing? i went into the settings and under keyboard appearance every option is greyed out.
OMG....
I think I FU.. up
I did install the GB keyboard and the Multi-ling one as well...
Now I am in the situation that ALL my keyboards incl. the SWYPE keyboard have NO enter key but ALL have the "" smiley on the enter position ?????
How can I correct this????
Remove ALL keyboards? and reinstall???
To be honest I like the layout and skin on the GB board but to have no enter key is just ridiculous....???
Robert
On 'Keyboard from android gingerbread'
if you hold the space bar and pull it up, arrows will appear at the bottom which allow you to move through your text for that one letter you mis-typed.
That's great!
You don't know how to get a return key though do you? good when you need to type an address, etc

This ^^
By the way the speech function of this keyboard is awesome
Just used it to send this message and it's flawless
I have now used GB keyboard for a few days and realizing that when you write emails the "enter" is present, when you are typing an ""action"(password, search ect.) the enter button changes to a "GO" button and when you SMS it again changes to a "" button.....
This is actually pretty cool but I still miss a hidden "enter" key on the menu?? If anybody reads this with the skills and power it would be great if the "shift" key was changing the smiley to an enter????
Otherwise this is fantastic and I will stick to this keyboard.
Robert
Thanks for the settings! Perfect!
Uploaded this gingerbread keyboard so someone could fix their keyboard settings. This is the small buttons that isnt configured for qHD. Mods feel free to close/delete thread.
ty very much
How do I install this on my phone?
This keyboard has tiny keys though. It doesnt display correctly on qHD. I only posted it because I couldnt send it in a PM, or at least I couldnt figure out how to send it in a PM.
You can use the sideload wonder machine, or you can put in on your phone and click it if you have sideloading enabled...
Hi,
My phone is Xperia Mini Pro. A few days ago I switched to CM9, the difference is huge, everything comes faster, smoother generally better, because anyone who is considering the change I suggest to move as soon as possible!
But this is not what this post was to be in CM9 default standard keyboard with Android. The most I miss T9 keyboard layout, a notice on the status bar (or typed text 'will be introduced from a large or a small letter', and that the normal characters or special characters [the blue button on the keyboard physical]) or it can be simply zbackupować with stockowego ROM CM'a and move on? If not, it is certainly a different way.
I also tried to copy the stockowego textinput-tng.apk to /system/app and chmod 644 it, but does not work, also tried to copy the files from the stock rom on CM9:
screenshu.com/static/uploads/temporary/h5/1a/70/iezd71.jpg

screenshu.com/static/uploads/temporary/md/je/ha/3lip2h.jpg
screenshu.com/static/uploads/temporary/qh/hk/6t/pt2pp9.jpg
unfortunately to no avail, I know that this subject was already discussed in this forum, on the other also but did not find any specific solutions.
Can I have someone that has adapted keyboard from stock rom for CyanogenMod 9? Thanks in advance for your help, besides, I think not only me that is useful.

The same for me with Mini Pro.. Also, I cannot find a way to have word completion enabled with the physical keyboard, so I always have to type the whole words. Also accented letters are a lot faster to type if the word completion is available, as long-pressing a letter sometimes does not work. Finally, also the "world" key (which I often use in the original rom to change input language) is not working with the normal Xperia S keyboard I found in another thread. Naturally, that is beacuse the Xperia S has no physical keyboard =)
I am planning to follow your path of copying some files from the original rom, but I don't think it will be so simple =(
Has anyone found a solution?
Unfortunately I have not found it. In this forum, and the other is a lot of posts on this issue but no solution. ;/
I have found this thread on a new rom based on the stock ICS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852916
At the second post, the author links to a "mini pro stock keyboard": we could try that and see how it goes!
I will try this week end and post the results =)

Problems with SK17i physical keyboard on CM9
Hi, I update this thread because i have the same problem.
Is there a way to have the stock xperia mini pro keyboard working on FXP138 CM9??
Now I'm using xperia S keyboard, but it doesn't have the symbol on the status bar and you can not tell if you are in normal or special characters.
I've tried to flash stock xperia mini pro keyboard, but it doesn't work and spoil the gsm!
Help please!
Otherwise, is there a keyboard on the market that is 100% working with physical keyboard of xperia mini pro?
Thanks in advance

no way personally I use swiftkey3, it gives you autocorrection for phys keyboard, but still no statusbar icon and the globe icon had same function of shift (you must choose qwerty usa, with qwerty ita you'll get incorrect layout)
(on my sk17i sym key give work fine on both standard and swiftkey)
sorry for poor english

I'm also looking for the stock keyboard.
xperia pro (sk16i) with cm 9.
currently use smart keyboard. Work quite well. But if i use hardware keyboard sometime the key indicator (shift or FN) doesnt work with every apps (eg. messaging)
I also tried "Xperia S keyboard.zip" from some post before, with out any effect.
I think there is no way to get working keyboard app for the physical keyboard on CM9 and CM10. Sooo saaaaad
I think...
This might be it (although minimal chance of autocorrect for HW-keyboard really working)...
Stock Xperia S keyboard port for CM9
I am backing up my phone as we speak, getting ready to flash CM9 and this keyboard... If it works I will report back (I'll report back regardless, but gimme a day for testing).
[EDIT]
Works, but now I realize this is as reported in many other places; SYM-key IS working but the menu it brings up is different, T9 for portrait-layout works, blue alt-key and CAPS indicator not working as well as no auto correction. Still better than after initial install but not good enough...
Good afternoon everyone.
I've recently installed on my Xperia Mini Pro the new Cyanogenmod 9.1.
It's more than brilliant but lacks of a very important feature... I'm not able to use the onscreen t9 and the hardware keyboard has not spellcheck or autocomplete feature.
for the first problem, i've solved with a zip flashable file containing xperia S keyboard and i managed to have t9 keyboard in vertical and qwerty keyboard in landscape, with a perfectly working autocomplete and spellcheck...
But when i use hardware keyboard I hate I cannot have the spellcheck or autocorrect, because italian is very reach in stresses and it's disappointing using a long press key every time i have to strees a vowel... with the stock rom i just typed the word and it got corrected automatically.
Also, the sym key shows me just symbols and would be great to have all the smiles back like in the original firmware.
I've found a system folder from 4.0.4 original firmware of Xperia mini pro [SK17i_system_folder_4.1.B.0.431.rar if u wanna google it] so I would be able to post here all the keyboard files that could add the original t9, autocomplete and spellcheck both of on-screen keyboard (so we don't have to use the Xperia S files) and expecially for hardware keyboard...
Can anybody help me?
I want to stay with Cyanogenmod 9, but if I dont find a solution i will be forced to go back to 2.3.4 to have the original keyboard back
Thank you so much for help!
Hello there, I had the same problem as you but luckily I found a solution to that problem.
I can't attach the .zip cause it's too large, but here is the link to the thread containing the keyboard: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1725050
Look for "Xperia S ICS keyboard", download it, flash it via CWM, select in settings, voila you have a T9 keyboard that should satisfy if not all, some of the things you were looking for.
It works on my SK17i CM9.1 100%
Press thanks if this helped you.

it would be the best if somebody could do that kind of file with original Mini pro keyboard (onscreen and physical)... it would make CM9 the perfect rom...
Thanks, i like the Keyboard a lot! Works almost 100%

Hello to everyone in this forum.
I have the same issues. I'm Italian too.
The same here in germany. Swiftkey has a nice replacement feature, but it misses swipe in vertical mode. It would be nice to be able to change keyboard depending of HW-Keyboard status. If Keyboard is out, use Swiftkey, if its in, use Xperia-Keyboard. maybe this could be solved with Tasker, but I didn't test right now.
edit: I tested with tasker and needed an external plug in, - It worked! but this solution doesn't make me happy as Swiftkey cannot handle the extra keys like ? and ' right.
+1
does anyone have a proper fix for the hardware keyboard on the Xperia Mini Pro, Including the symbol and globe keys?
thanks
Maybe we need a porting from the original stock rom. Is there any way to extract the files from the original rom? I also tried to backup the original keyboard with Titanium but I fail
Same issue here.
I am italian, too.
For a language as ours, it's very important having predictive text in hard keyboard.
Is there any workaround?
Please reply!
I've tried some keyboard's apps but no one satisfied 100%
Thanks.
Any news?
Any workaround? What keyboard do you use at the moment? :cyclops:
I use Swiftkey, but I'm not satisfied 100% yet.

yes... it's a real pity that there is still NO solution for that problem
THIS is a simple but the ONLY reason because I can't handle with cyanogen.... i'm a great fan of this project but i really miss the keyboard (which is a must for a mobile like mini pro)... so I'm still so sad that nobody was able to fix this problem ALL the mini pro user have
I think i'm on the right way to use the keyboard but i still need some help from experienced developers.
I've managed to install the keyboard but still it crashes.
I dumped all the system folder from the lastest Mini Pro firmware (4.0.4 built 567 if I remember well) in a zip and installed from recovery all the files related to some keywords (used the search function of a mac).
I've used
- key
- keyboard
- input
- text
- emoticon
- emoji
- qwerty
- font
- slide
and something like that (I can't remember all the keywords but i think they are all)
Anyway as i wrote before when i turn on the keyboard it keeps crashing without even starting (i can never see the keyboard on screen and with the slide keyboard).
I think it's great i managed to install but i have not the right experience to know what files are missing or are disturbing the keyboard...
Does anybody have a clue? (unfortunatly i cannot post this post in the developer rooms)
I will attach soon the zip file i'm testing on Cyanogen mod 9.1.
(I've added TrackId to see if the installation process was ok, just while developing this zip file)
Tell me what, according to you, would be good to add for the keyboard
Have you set all permission properly? Because if not it can't work. And you would have to take the textinput-tng.apk (not sure how it's named) from /system/app
But I don't know if this will ever work, I hope so :good:

Fellow modders, could you please suggest some good Keyboards?
The problem is that there probably won't be a good swype-like keyboard available for Serbian language for a long time (there are simply too many word-forms and irregular forms per word). I've been trying to get used to Swype (the latest version) for 2 weeks now, but it's simply not possible, their Serbian dictionary is not really big and I have to type in manually at least one new word per a message which then completely destroys any speed effect that swyping has I've added ~150 my words so far, but I still have to write in new ones all the time... And wnex ord prediction is non existent, Swype sucks at predicting words. The good thing about Swype is that it keeps the standard 26 letter keyboard (all Ć, Č and C are under C; Š and S are under S etc).
I've also tried the latest SwiftKey X. The problem with it is that it shows all 30 letters of Serbian Latin script and that makes the key too small... The dictionary and word prediction seems a lot better than it is on Swype, but the keys are just so small I couldn't find an option to switch to a 26 letter keyboard while using the Serbian dictionary
So, after weeks of experimenting, I would like to return to the usual way of typing - letter by letter. What keyboard would you recommend for this?
The best keyboard for letter by letter typing on Gingerbread was that HTC one, it was A LOT better than the 2.3 AOSP keyboard! But it doesn't work on anything higher than Android 2.3
Coming to ICS and JellyBean, the AOSP keyboard has been greatly improved, but I find the keys a bit too small for our screens and when I type fast, mistakes happen all the time
I will try to use SwiftKeyX as a regular keyboard, without Serbian and "Flow" enabled, but would you recommend any more? Are there any good brand-made keyboards for Android 4.x? Sony/Xperia, Samsung/TouchWiz, HTC/Sense?
*sorry for the terribly long post*
I remember seeing a HTC Sense keyboard somewhere for ICS+. I'll post the link if I find it.

I've switched from Swype to Swiftkey and have been using it for the past week or so and deleted it last night. The more I used it, the worse the predictions and the corrections became... The Xperia keyboard is nice, but the keys are utterly to small for me, I couldn't achieve any speed or precision
I will try TouchPal and Kii keyboards in the following days, maybe one of these two will work out for me
If not, I've also signed up for the Minuum keyboard beta and I'm waiting for them to contact me.... (you can sign up here - http://minuum.com/ )
I also was searching for good keyboard for our "small" screens.
Also i needed Serbian letters and Ћирилица. I tested a lot of them and last 1 year i am using Smart Keyboard Pro.
You can edit everything you want. There is also calibration so can be calibrated it to your usage.

Thanks, mate, will check it out for sure
I have tested Kii Keyboard and Touchpal since my last post. Kii Keyboard is not on par with the bigger names (like Swype, Touchpal and Swiftkey), it just doesn't feel that mature. I didn't find it enjoyable.
Touchpal was very good for my needs, but I couldn't turn off its "toolbar" (that's how they call its word suggestion line, because it has shortcuts to some tools) which was very irritating

There's a lot keyboards at marketplace for sure but i never found any keyboard that i can change everything i want, there is always that something need to stay or i am missing something from reall keyboard. When you are typing, some suffs are just anoying and that was:
- Turn off complitlly text predirection, only Auto-capitalizion to stay,
- add enter button,
- remove speaker button,
- remove smiley button,
- remove or change popup button (usually that can makes small deley when you type fast, so without it you can type how much fast you want)
- having " , " and " . " at same time
- control extra space
- having normal, not some colored styles
- support for needed language and when i use it, i don't need to use that layout. So when i am using Serbian language, i dont need to have changed letters Z ana Y. English layout can be used.
- Calibration is incredible, its impossible to wrote wrong word with it. I dont understand how perfect can be but it is. I just will never learn to use touch screen for type message
- after all after you restore backup from memory card, calibration and all settings are same as you saved them.
There is so much more stuffs that i didn't found on other keyboard but i just need them. That was the only reason why i hated this phone when i buyed it At first look i tought that its impossible to write normal messages without 30% of bad typed words but after this one, i found it possible. Maybe there is many peoples who will find that less important but when you wrote some important mail or something, i don't wanna spend 10 minutes more to find all strings or keys i always need.
Phone is just incredible and i want to make it most possible incredible that i can

I know, and Swiftkey and Touchpal have those features as well, but I don't want to use text prediction and auto-correction... I've tried living with those features for almost a month and it didn't work out, the Serbian dictionaries available for keyboards are not very good and the amount of word forms covered is very low...
Thanks for the suggestion, though

Which I did But then SwiftKey didn't make much noise, because the keys are more cramped up than they are on the AOSP keyboard and, furthermore, the symbols were strangely positioned and smileys weren't as accessible as on the AOSP one, so...
But it doesn't matter, because Smart Keyboard Pro is just what I needed A tad bigger keys than on the AOSP keyboard and that's it. Everything is in the same place, but I have a higher speed combined with a better accuracy
Thanks goes out to all of you who had any suggestions!
