Hi all.
I am currently on the phone with AT&T as my USA beta Streak has quit working!! I am being told that the US Streaks were designed to quit after the evaluation period was over!! I now can not make any calls with it at all except to AT&T!!
Any one else had their Streak IMEI blocked by AT&T??
UPDATE: Over at Modaco they are starting to drop like flies......several posts about it now! It is happening as we speak!!
UPDATE 2: Quote from Dell:
All 1100+ US beta Streak IMEI's are now invalid! They could not (or would not) say if the IMEI's will be good again after the release!
UPDATE 3: Dell states that it was AT&T that did this to us and that the affected units will work again AFTER the official USA release! They could not say when that would be tho.....
that sucks. im glad i didnt do anything rash like buy a streak on ebay or something.
Yeah, mine went down around 10 am. Sucks, I've only had it two days, I guess I'm stuck using my old unlocked G1 again temporarily...
just a heads up guys... found this on engadget!
AT&T blocking Dell Streak beta units?
looks like your out of luck till AT&T sort themselves out.
mine went down an hour ago, im glad i got mine through the beta and did not pay for it
mine is down now too. I was using an Ipad sim card. Will try later with my other ATT sim to see if it works. Let's hope the streak releases soon!
Another reason to hate at&t. I was 100% going to get the dell streak once it came out in the U.S. for tmobile. Fortunately, I had a change of heart when the Galaxy S (Vibrant) was released. Not only has dell announced it will be available only for at&t, but also at&t has delayed its release for ages. Poor dell, should have gone with a different carrier.
so if it's only being blocked on AT&T then if we use it here in Canada it should be good then right? Or is it the actual device that is being remotely nuked?
I'm curious. Couldn't those who are blocked use another SIM card?
I found my answer. International_Mobile_Equipment_Identity is phone specific, not SIM specific.

That answered my question too... I guess I'm ok to keep using my Streak in Canada.

To put it bluntly... that is 100% illegal. It is the equivalent of changing the VIN of your car.
Pardon my language, but its **** like that, that made me say **** AT&T and move to Sprint.
They're just digging their hole deeper and deeper. It amazes me that Apple renewed their contract for the iPhone. That makes Apple a bigger idiot... besides being too slow to the market with the iPhone4. But I digress.

According to rumors, Apple did not renew with AT&T and we may see a new iPhone come holiday season with the possibility of it being from Tmo. There are HUUUGE articles all over the place right now that there is a possiblity that AT&T is movin to WinPho7/Android in place of iOS devices ... even if you look at their line up and the fact they are to be the first WinPho7 carrier in the US you can tell something is changing at AT&T. This could be for the better .. or the worst but they need to get the ball rolling faster if they want to survive as the #2 carrier with out Apple pulling them through...
ok now that's it's been officially announced... who's putting their sim back in?
I think a few have tried it, and there's mixed results..
I put mine in, and within 2 minutes I got the text. Been using it about an hour now though with full service.
EDIT:
Still works after the night, been about 15 hours now.

Yes, the fact that it's blacklisted simply means that Verizon's database shows it as not being able to be activated. This has no effect on the phones usability on another carrier.

Keep in mind att uses gsm radio and Verizon uses CDMA.
You may run into trouble.
However I believe the Verizon note 2 is a works phone?
Who knows exactly what that means for you.
God bless the American people.
Figures someone who uses barrack Obama as name wouldn't be any help how fitting. The note II has gsm and cdma radios. It's unlocked from the factory so you can throw a t-mobile, AT&T, straight talk ect and it'll work fine. The note supports 1900mhz frequency which is the refarned hspa42 for t-mobile and 3g hspa for at&t

I buy/sell/trade phones and I've run into a couple bad esn phones (no I don't buy them, shady people report them stolen). I actually picked up a Note 2 several months ago. I checked the esn over 611, came back clean, brought it home several hours later to put it on my wife's line. We popped her sim in, it activated, then almost immediately deactivated. After hours on the phone with Verizon they said the seller reported it and there was nothing I could do. We got her a new sim card and reactivated her S3. As I considered my options, the next day I called Verizon and checked the ESN again. The lady said it was clean. I didn't understand and took it to the store to ask a rep. It was explained to me that when a IMEI is blacklisted, it "burns" the sim card you put in it. Since we are in no way faulted on our plan, we were given a new sim card. The rep explained that the phone is blacklisted against that one sim card. So if I put my new sim in, it is now linked to my (clean) account.
Long story short - if you pop in a sim card, it will get zapped. If you get a new one and try again, it SHOULD work fine on Verizon.
I hold no responsibility to what you do or how accurate that info is. It worked for me and was approved by a Verizon rep. Try it or don't.

And "yes", it will work on AT&T if you add APN's. No LTE though. Only AT&T's 4G (kinda like 3G+) and lower.

if all the next guy needs to do is pop two sim cards in it and it works?
I believe something is amiss.

If a seller reports a phone stolen, they can sell the phone and collect the cash, then turn it into insurance and get a new phone.
They don't care about you actually still being able to use the phone or not, only that they get free money and a new phone.
I bought my Note 2 off of Craigslist in November I checked the number with Verizon. I was told everything was good to go. About two weeks ago I got a call from the Sheriff's office letting me know that I was in possession of a phone that had been stolen directly from one of their stores. I had put my own SIM card in so I never had any issues.

I would assume that you could, Just because Verizon has put the ban hammer down on the phone doesn't necessarily mean that other carriers would also. I guess the best way to know is to give it a shot.

I had a similar issue with a S3 when they first came out. I traded a Razr Maxx for it. I used it for a while until I found a blue one, so I gave it (white) to my wife. About 3 months later I got a call from an investigative department of Verizon. I explained the situation and they allowed me to keep the S3 (unblacklisted) for cooperating with them. I gave them all the info of the person I got it from. That guy called me a week later to warn me that Verizon may be calling, lol. Turns out the person be bought it from had stolen several of these off a Fed Ex truck before they reached the store.

Hello everyone!
I'll get this out of the way now, I'm a noob and I'm finally bursting the cherry of posting on here even though I've referenced this site for several years now for different phones, roms and rooting. In other words, please be patient with me if this post is somewhere else and I missed it.
Anyways, as the post topic asks, did anyone order the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 developer edition? If so, did you guys get it? What do you all think of it?
I thankfully ordered mine at 6:30 pm the day it came out before it went on back order, so either samsung wasn't planning on so many ordering and didn't make many or its a really popular phone. I'm waiting on the UPS guy to show up here with my phone today and I'm getting antsy.
Ordering from samsung and checking on its status yesterday was a nightmare because so many departments couldn't find my order number and I almost told them to cancel the order. Glad I didn't.
Does anyone know if you can take it to the store and get insurance on it or where to get mobile insurance on it? This is the first time I ever bought off of contract and do not want to waste my $715.49 investment should something happen to it. (Mom of a 9 month old, anything can and will happen.)
Thanks for the help and happy experiences with the new phones!
I don't think the Google Edition S4 will work on Verizon. Like other Google phones, it's GSM unlocked but I don't believe it has the proper bands to function on Verizon. You may want to research and/or possibly cancel your oder if you plan to use it on a CDMA network.
That said, anyone get a dump of the rom yet? I'm sure it's just a matter of time before someone ports it for our phones (assuming partitions are the same - they should be).

Would have bought if 32gb.
I ordered one yesterday. My DROID bionic has been flailing, and I want to keep unlimited data. I can't wait to start playing with it! This will be my first foray into playing with ROMs and such.
P.S. 64GB microSD cards are like half off on amazon, at least they were yesterday. Got one of those too since only comes with 16GB :/
Make sure you give the dev's the AOSP rom from it so that we can get the IR remote working on AOSP builds... SO !!!
Wait, it doesn't come with touchwiz right?
I read it does come with TouchWiz on droid-life, just not all the verizon crap. I guess I'll find out Monday when it's supposed to show up.

Hey no problem, so many phones going out at once, its easy to get confused.
Now all I need is that darn UPS guy here already and I'll let ya'll know what it does/doesn't have on it if someone doesn't beat me to it. And I still wish they would have done it as a 32 gig version, but I don't see that coming... at least to verizon anyways.
Mine is in transit; should be here Monday. From what I understand, it does come with VZ bloatware but once rooted, you can ROM away.
and iewctal
So update here.
I just got the device, getting verizon to activate it was a pain because several techs kept saying "they don't support a developer device" but I finally got it taken care of.
Yes it has bloatware, will be taking care of that.
Also is not rooted, will be looking up ways to do that now to make sure I do this right.
Too bad there isn't a one click root for this thing, I'd really like to save some time than fighting doing it on a mac.

Hey no problem, I actually got one tech now going to put herself on the waitlist to get one because she didn't know it existed. I'm hoping that after the hour I spent on the phone they now know that its out there and to be ready. The phone does not come with a SIM card so if you can pick up a card early and have it ready it may save some driving time/hassle.
Does anyone know of a simple and fast root method that works? I'm curious to see how it works with an unlocked bootloader and very surprised that it didn't already have root access. Maybe that's the noob talking here, but I was hopeful.

I don't know what size that card is. I had a samsung droid charge (horrible phone) and its card didn't fit in it. It needs a micro SIM. If you have time before yours comes in, I'd be safe and just get one free from verizon.

I know it has the radios, but has anyone been able to activate it on Verizon? They couldn't do it for me directly, so we tried activating a different tablet, cutting down the SIM, and sticking it into the 9. No dice...the cut SIM works fine in my Droid Maxx so I know it's not the the cut SIM, and the number shows up in my "about tablet" so the sim is being recognized, but there's no service.
Anyone have any luck yet and/or suggestions?

this thread is of great interest to me. Since this will really determine if I get a N9 LTE.
Also find the troubles interesting since a simple sim card swap worked with the N7 and is currently working with the N6.
I know Verizon won't do anything officially but doesn't stop us from getting our 6's running.

btw opened a case with google see if they know anything with verizon.
Looking into your account, I saw that you had contact support previously today (Case: 9-41030000*****) in regards to being unable to activate your Nexus 9 LTE tablet with Verizon. I wanted to let you know that your case has been escalated to the next tier of support and is currently being reviewed. You can expect a reply by email from either the previous agent or the Specialist who has reviewed your case, within the next 1 - 2 business days.
Thanks,

Actually didn't go to Walmart trying to use the Sim card which came from my nexus 6
And connected. 30$ is spent.. I guess I'll get to test them again.. But at home just like when I left them getting 2g
Glad I sparked interest in this...I'm confident now I'll get this figured out one way or the other now that xda members are on it lol.
FYI, someone just mentioned it seems like their radio state is off. I noticed this too...i installed the 4G switcher app just to see if I could get more info from it, and it defaults that the radio state is off.
I did get it to seem to turn on once or twice but it didn't actually do anything.
I'm just hoping this isn't something stupid where verizon has decided not to sell the nexus 9 so they are blocking it from their network.
I used this app to dial *#*#4636#*#* to access the radio when it was off. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modoohut.dialer

Figured I'd try to chat with someone from Google...they don't know of any reason why the device shouldn't work on Verizon. Here's the transcript - http://pastebin.com/ZuhwvnAY

Yea the 4G switcher app gives the exact same info, and same thing showed when I tried what you did...seems like the radio is turned off, and it won't turn on.
My first thought is maybe google has the devices deactivating the radio when it detects Verizon but then they would have done the same with the 6 one would think.

Well the Google Play support guy says there's nothing on their end that he's aware of for why it wouldn't work on Verizon...I wouldn't see Google doing that, but I COULD see Verizon doing it haha.
One thing I am holding onto is that I ordered this the day it went on sale on the Play Store, so its just possible Verizon hasn't done something it needs to do to allow the connection. Its all conjecture for now though lol.
Im not sure if this is breaking news (lol) It was for me though. I finally got a Sprint Galaxy note3 (rooted) and activated on Straight Talk Service. All MMS, Picture mail, voice mail, 4G/LTE working A lot of people told me I couldn't do it and get 4G LTE but that is definitely not the case. QUOTE=hubertdjr;57954455]Im not sure if this is breaking news (lol) It was for me though. I finally got a Sprint Galaxy note3 (rooted) and activated on Straight Talk Service. All MMS, Picture mail, voice mail, 4G/LTE working A lot of people told me I couldn't do it and get 4G LTE but that is definitely not the case. I wont try to be detailed about it because I am by no means a developer but if anyone needs the information that I used feel free to leave a message and I will try to go step by step thru my process and thank the necessary developers on here. You guys are AWESOME!!!
Could you help me?

Could you help me out with the step by step instructions please thanks in advanced.
Wasn't a big deal. You just have to call straight talk and they will need the number off your sim card. You cant use the automated system but apparently not all straight talk reps know how to do the note 3. I've been using mine for months now and can't tell I'm not on sprint. I was on student plan and sprint was going to make me buy a new phone in order to get a plan. At the time there wasn't a better phone for sprint so why would i want to give up my note 3 for something lesser or buy another. After a couple months on straight talk i paid for their 6 month plan. Probably will keep doing that.

Can you tell me how to do this? I don't have a sprint simcard, just the straight talk sim.
So has anybody gotten a reply with the process to do this?
If you have time I would like you to try to help me get my sprint note 3 on straight talk I've been reading a lot about it not sure if I have to root it and then put it on locker in it I'm not sure mine has lollipop 5.0 on it too

Cool but the only bad thing about this is (first 5GB data at high speeds then 64Kbps that's only 2G on Straight Talk...
Well, Straight Talk also has a $55 a month plan that gives you 10gb high speed 4G LTE data & then 64kbps after. The plan you're referring to is the $45 5gb high speed 4G LTE & then 64 kbps. You can also refill early if you go over & get throttled on any "monthly 30 day plan" & restore your high speed LTE data.
Just a friendly FYI post from a long time Straight talk user ?

Thats all cool, but no one has said anything on how to get the phone working on straight talk.
I spent 8 hours on a "PAY" site only for them to fail, how did you do it.?
