Android bluetooth tethering + VPN - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've posted this in the HTC forum for my mobile and realized that this may be more of an Android directed inquiry.
I've been able to use Wifi Tethering (from Google Play) (version 2.0.7) to successfully connect a Motorola Xoom to my HTC One X mobile via bluetooth. However, when I connect to my VPN service with my mobile, I no longer have active internet access with the Xoom. The bluetooth connection is still active but when I try to surf the internet the browser just hangs and then errors out. I was wondering if there was something I could do with the DNS settings with the VPN service or IP routing on the mobile to fix this issue.
Can anyone provide a little direction on where to begin troubleshooting this issue? I've Google'd this issue to death for the past four hours and have had zero luck finding anything regarding VPN's and bluetooth tethering. I have found similar issues with WiFi tethering but I believe that protocol works differently. I could be wrong though!

[Q] Wifi connected, can't browse, download internet

Hi everybody, i have the next issue:
I can connect HTC HD2 to wireless network with wpa tkip encryption , but i cannot browse internet, download, and the youtube player shows the videos list but doesnt play them. It is very frustrating... i tried to find a solution but didnt find find anything.
Tried the things with Network connects Work/Internet and other ones but did not work.
Does anyone knows how to solve it, or what settings should i use?
thanks
Uhm the problem you experiencing is not related to the HD2
You need to edit you internet router configuration of your internet connection (at home).
Some were there is a setting called Mac Client filtering. If your Mac adres of the wifi adapter of your HD2 isnt showing in the list and having the status "accepted" you can make netwerk connection but the router is blocking your internet connection.
Adjusting the Mac list of your internet router will fix this.

Wifi Connected in HTC explorer but not able to access internet

HI,
I have seen thread with the same problems but im not able to find a permanent solutions in all these threads
problem: I have HTC explorer, i have a wifi connection in my home of CISCO router. My laptop with windows 7 is able to connect to the wifi and im able to access the internet. When i connect my mobile to it, wifi gets connected but im not able to access internet.

I do not have much technical knowledge about wifi networks, so please can someone tell me what exactly to do to solve this isse. I have been having this problem from the last two months. it will be of great help

[Q] Wifi sharing via wifi on Android

Hi all,
I know the thread's title may sound ridiculous, but it's really not.
I'm looking for a way to share my mobile wifi connection (I'm currently using the latest HTC one device) via wifi.
Meaning, I'm connected to a wifi network from my Android device, and I want to share this connection with other laptop/pad/mobile devices via wifi.
So my device acts both as wifi client to a hot-spot infra, and also like a hotspot infra for other devices.
In the past, I did it successfully using my iphone and MyWi app.
I've spent quite some time goggling for a solution, but non of the threads/articles I've read really address this problem, as most of them refer to sharing the mobile data connection rather than the wifi connection.
this is the closest thread I've found (from 2010) and it refers to wifi sharing via USB and not wifi.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276723
the reason I'm looking for such a way is that I have a iPass certificate on my mobile, which enables me to connect freely to iPass wifi hotspots around the world (popular at airports for example) and I want to use this connection with my laptop or my friends mobile devices.
can anyone shed some light on this subject?

[Q] PPTP - Auto reconnect

Looking for a solution to what seems to be a common PPTP VPN complaint. I understand that Google does not like PPTP. I have it setup on a Cisco router and it seems to be working great. My issue / questions is, I need an application or advice on how to get the connection to auto reconnect when it drops.
Due to company policy I have not rooted my HTC one running 4.4.2.

VPN direct connection - problem

Hello everyone,
I have problem with VPN software in Android. I wrote "Android" because the same problem appear on every phone with android which I've tried. I have server with which I connect via VPN, server has two internet connections. One is ethernet connection via router (local internet provider), second one is mobile internet. Both solutions use static IP.
Android does not has any problem with connection via router, however in case of mobile internet there is no connection. The program show "Connecting..." and after few seconds there is information "failure".
Settings of those connection are very similar. Anyone know how to solve it ? I know that my description is probably a little bit chaotic but I'm willing to explain everything because it is quite important.
