Hardwarewise, they're exactly the same.
and doesn't the GSM version have an unlocked bootloader?
XT910 is the code for RAZR GSM international
And XT912 is the code for RAZR GSM/CDMA

Even though I feel the Razr is a superior phone I dont think there will ever be a dev scene even like for the Bionic. If there isnt one yet there most likely wont be unfortunately. The Razr was over shadowed by the release of the GN and with a locked bootloader why invest your time into it? The dev's have pretty much gone from the bionic too. The only reason it was getting some love was because of timing and the GN wasn't out yet.
I think the GSM version might get a little bit due to its bootloader being unlocked but even now there doesn't seem much. Shoot compare it to the GN a week after release and it has a dozen or so ROMs already.
Droid is a name registered with Verizon ... notice that all phones named Droid are only on Verizon and no other network ...
As for Dev scene... give it time .... amazon thanksgiving sale helped the Droid RAZR base to grow huge ... and within month time came nexus with icecream sandwich which devs were eager to get hands on.... I think RAZR will get support at least after it receives ics

Motorola is saying they're selling bananas, but when you buy their bananas, you'll find that they're pears.
No, it isn't unlocked and it isn't unlockable. Still not.

So the Razr I have in the US will not work overseas? That is my understanding but seeing GSM with the XT912 confuses me. Thanks.

Correct. US Phones use CDMA radios and other countries use the GSM. I don't think there is a "world" LTE phone yet.
I know I just saw a posting earlier this week about how Europe finally got the HSPA+21 and will get the 42 later. It talked about how they were testing LTE in the UK but were talking about a period of 3-5 years before it even starts to roll out. Maybe when the UK gets LTE they will be compatible.
The US has the best radios even tho we don't always get the best phones.

nopes it wont work...
912 is for CDMA/Verizon/Locked bootloader
910 is for GSM/Other countries/Unlocked bootloader
But if past releases pattern is true Droid 4 will be a world phone just like droid 3 and 2
Can a gsm /system/app dump be used on the cmda razor to restore the stock /system/app or do you have to have a /system/app dump from a cdma razr?
USA is neither the first nor only country with LTE.
In Fact, the world's first commercial LTE network started in Sweden in December 2009 and now they're already testing the next generation, LTE advanced with speeds up to 954mbit/sec.:
http://www.intomobile.com/2011/06/2...dvanced-sweden-hits-954-mbps-download-speeds/
Also in Germany LTE is already available in most major cities and I guess it's also available in some other European countries.

I have a buddy with a XT912 that he can't dump due to a bad ESN.
He is willing to give it to me, I have heard rumors that you can re-flash the XT912 with the 910 software to unlock the GSM part of the phone...
Will that allow it to work with AT&T?
The specs I have seen show the 912 has the radio built in, just locked.
Can you re-flash it for AT&T?
i would like to know as well. my gf has a droid razr.
At the moment is not posible
There is another post which can help and i also got the same problem

Yes its a CDMA phone which is old tech which is not compatible with GSM. Try and buy the GSM one which is XT912 I think.
The XT910 is the GSM model and the XT912 is the CDMA Verizon model. As long as you buy an unlocked XT910 you should be able to use it on any GSM carrier.
Does Verizon sell gsm variant?

The Verizon Razr does come with GSM radios. I believe with the ICS update the global SIM capability has been unlocked. Check this thread for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619563&highlight=verizon+razr+gsm+radio
Hope this helps.

Last info I got was that the XT 912 will only work on global GSM carriers. It has been locked from USA GSM carriers. I have heard some reports that some people can get it to work on AT&T with voice only no data. If my information is outdated I apologize hopefully I helped in some way.
Edit: I thought I would add that I own an XT 910 and XT 912, currently operating on Deutsche Telekom (German T-Mobile)

I am hoping someone could help me please, I am trying my best and I have spent about 5 hours searching online for the answer, to have different conclusions.
I was living in USA, purchased a Verizon droid razr maxx lte 912 from a friend. I did not use this in the USA, I left in the hope to use this phone in the UK.
Is this possible ?
Many thanks
No the xt912 is specifically for verizon and cdma which is in the united states. If you wanted to use it in another country or internationally, you would have to get the xt910. Hope this helped

The phone will work with any GSM sim if used "outside of the US". It will NOT work on GSM in the US.
So yes, you can use it in the UK without any issues.
if your phone has been updated to ICs then its fully capable of being used all over the world for gsm usage ( but not in the US )
just insert any gsm sim
go to network and select gsm/umts option and thats it.
the XT912 razr and razr maxx both have unlocked gsm radios for all gsm operators outside US.
