Thanks you so much

Did you change the folder of the restored files or modify anything in the restore folder?? Then only MD5 miss match occur.

[Q] CWM fails to restore backup

Hello all.
I had Litening ROM 4.2 installed on my SGS2, then I wanted to try Cyanogen Mod, and first made backup with CWM. Now when I try to restore backup, it restores it, but when I boot phone, everything is messed up, apps that I installed dont work, etc... It even shows me that first-time screen, to set up connections, time etc. Can anyone give me some hints what am I doing wrong please ? Thanks.
I even tried to install Litening ROM from scratch, deleted cache & davlik cache, and installed it with Odin, but when I try to install any application, after install it works fine for couple seconds then it shows me error and that "force close" dialog... And it happens with every app I try to install.
I have also tried to install Frankesteins Stock ROM that I found here, then install Litening ROM, but got same errors again...
Same problem here. After a restore, I get the first time screen. No apps, no data, default settings. Please help!
This just happened to me as well.....
Version of can? There's deffo something odd with some of the cwm versions going about. Also I notice that v5 doesn't like yo restore v4 backups. And vice versa

Backup created with ver 4.x.
Both ver 5.x & 4.x failed to restore system data. Tried installing ROM and wiping everything, reflashing CWM, but still the same problem.....
CWM4 and CWM5 use different formats for the backups. That's why backups of those are not interchangable, you have to restore with the CWM you made the backup with.
Also, don't change the dir names of the backups, I did it once and the backup woudln't restore anymore, changed name back to original one and it worked again.
The OP also sounds like only the /system partition was restored for some reason.
Try a clean format of /system, /data and /cache before the restore.
Were apps installed to sdcard?
Just to be sure, you can try advanced restore, and restore *.img one by one.
Just posting to point out that it seems to have affected me too. I made a backup, but restoring just restores the ROM without my data.

thanx man thats my problem
CWM is great for restoring the actual rom. But I have found with a large app load (I have 3-400 at any given point) it struggles.
Reconfiguring is common place, personally I use CWM for roms and titanium for apps these days.
You can coax CWM by restoring bits at a time rebooting then doing the next piece.

[Q] ClockworkMod Not Restoring Backups

I'm on stock 2.1 with 2.1.1.A.0.6. and my phone's rooted. And I have never been able to use CWM to restore any backups.
Everytime I try, I'm told there's a MD5 sum mismatch. Even if I've made the backup a few seconds before and I'm still in CWM. I've gone into the backups and changed the checksums in nandroid.md5 with the correct ones (or at least I assume they're the correct ones, I use ES File Explorer to generate them). CWM then restores it..but I get thrown into a boot loop when I start the phone.
I do a lot of fiddling to get my phone just the way I want it and every time anything goes wrong (like a ROM not installing properly), I have to reflash the whole thing, re-root it, re-install my app's, re-remove the bloatware, re-set my settings, re-do my widgets, blah-blah-blah..
Anybody any idea what's going on? I'm using ClockworkMod v3.2.0.0-r5.
when you create a backup using clockworkmod NEVER rename the folder its saved all your backup, if you do then that will cause the MD5 to be invalid,
if thats not the issue then try downloading ROM manager from android market and use this app to backup and restore your .img files
Well, I don't rename the folder, I don't rename anything. I think I'm not wiping the right things first. At least, I hope it's something that simple. I'd hate to be the one poor soul on here whose phone doesn't like doing backups..
ROM Manager sounds like the sort of thing I need though, even if I do get CWM working properly.
Many thanks!

[Q] md5 mismatch

Hi guys,
I know there are several threads on this topic, but no solution worked for me.
Yesterday I made a nandroid backup and everything went fine. Than I installed MiniCMSandwich, which works very great. But then I wanted to restore my old backup and got a md5 mismatch.
I tried this and this method, but they didn't work.
In my backup folder are only these files:
data.yassf2.img
system.yassf2.img
.android_secure.vfat.tar
There is no nandroid.md5 or any other file
What have I got to do to fix my nandroid backup?
By the way, I didn't rename it!
Please help
Michi
Ok Terminal Emulator method worked after trying a bit, but now I've got another problem! I created a new thread for that
You could have made new backup and replace the data and system stuff...? Or it might not work?
OK could you explain that pls? What exactley have I got to do.
I tried to take system and cache out of another backup before and put it in the (bricked) backup folder instead of the system and cache of bricked up. Then I tried the terminal method again, but theres md5 mismatch!
What have I got to do?
But... if you have an older backup, couldn't you just restore that one? Just saying.......

Yes I restored it and it works fine, but that was a backup immediatly after the ics update and all apps installed. There are no settings from apps, etc. Can I restore Data and Apps out of my old Backup? Is there an App?
What I can say for sure is that you cannot "mix" files from different nandroid, and that's because of the md5 checksum itself. If you mix the files, you'll always get an error.
I'm sorry, but I don't know if there's a way to "extrapolate" your apps and settings from another nandroid. Think you'll have to reinstall all your apps
Titanium Backup Pro can extract apps with data from Nandroid backup.
