Ok my phone is showing that I have a notification in my Txt messages but I have no msgs. I have removed the Txt from the home screen and deleted all of my Txt msgs but it still shows that I have one Txt. I also cleared the cache and have no notification in the lock screen. Any suggestions? And I'm sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

Try rebooting the phone.
I did. I've tried everything short of un installing the factory txting app and I would do that if I could figure out how to get rid of the factory apps.

By a notification in your text messages, do you mean in your notification bar or does the icon show a "1" on the icon?
Mine do the same thing on the lock screen. The way I get rid of those notifications is to go ooen every single message that u get. With the emails I need to delete unopened emails because it will always show that I hsve new emails. For me is annoying because on my fascinate I just ipen a message from the notification bar and it will mark it read.
Opening a text message from the notification bar will mark it as read on this device too.
Swiping it away (or even clearing notifications) does not, never has, and probably never will (as stock).
Shows a 1 over the Txt icon, only after the phone has been unlocked though.

If nothing else, clear data on the messaging app.

I've tried that already also. That's why I'm so confused.

Had that problem, very irritating. This is the only thing that fixed it for me:

I have the same problem
if you are still having problems with this try the following.
go to settings - application manager - swipe across to ALL - scroll down to badgeprovider and clear the data and the restart your phone. This cleared the message icon for me. Hope it helps out some other folks who are having this issue.

I been using it but i have an issue... when i download something the notification bar says it's completed however i cannot CLEAR it from the notification bar. i have swiped it off, pressed clear, no matter what.... the file i download still appears up there. anyone else having this issue?
have you tried just opening the file? it could be that it's built into the app persistant like a voicemail or text message.
I actually disabled something on auto start manager... I'm back up thanks though

Is there a way to disable the screen from turning on when a notification is received? When I go to pull the note out I'm either hitting random keys on a text or dialing something. Is there a way to stop that?

First things first..I assume you are sending a recieving text messages, so here is my question. What app do you use for texting handcent or go sms....
for example I use handcent ass my messaging app so in the settings of handcent this is how you disable the screen on when you receive a notification.
Setting>Notification settings>Notificaton Settings (again) >scroll down and a box will be there were you can turn on/off the screen when you receive a message using the pop up option.
Idk if this helped but.. if anything let me know what apps your using or the version of android your running. The more info you post the more we can help you. Thanks
Hey. I have a question about Whatsapp notifications in notification bar.
Every time a message is received, it shows a notification. So far, so good.
Thing is, I can't swipe it away / delete it. The notification disappears and just comes back again. I have to read the message for the notification to disappear for ever.
Can anyone help with this annoying issue?
Galaxy i9300 owner.
Thanks!
It is the default behaviour of that app,. Don't worry you'll get used to it

When my friend (another i9300 owner) deletes the notification, it disappears forever. Mine just keep coming back...
I don't believe it's default :/
no, its the app.. i have the same problem with whatsapp...
I got an amber alert and a text later. The text will not let me delete it. I googled but found no instructions how to delete. I turn off emergency alerts and tried to delete, but that didn't work.
sorry, go to messages-click on the amber alert-delete from within there, that worked for me

Tap on the icon in the messages and then you should be able to delete it from there

The icon is a red msg symbol with an "i" in it. It won't do anything when I tap on it. When I tap on the other message icons the sender's info comes up, but nothing for the emergency icon. If I tap on the text then the text info comes up.
Ok figured it out. Tap on the actual message, then tap on menu tab on top right corner, then it gives the option to delete.
Thanks tjeeeeee
Is there a way to get notifications to pop-up when the always on display is active?
You get the icon above the clock. Are you wanting a whole heads up notification or something? The screen to turn on? I don't think there is an option for something like that. At least I haven't seen one.

Yes - I would prefer a pop-up notification for text messages, emails. Was hoping there was a setting I was missing to be able to allow this.
Thanks.

It only shows an icon. I wish it showed the actual message Like Pixel does. but it does not. If your main concern is text messages you can download something like Textra which has an option to wake up the phone when I message arrives. Then you will see the message.

Is there somewhere an app that will also show pop-up messages? Using the Outlook app for example...I find it totally worthless that I get a notification sound but absolutely no popup. I don't want to have to pull the notification center down, I just want a pop up showing the message that I just received.
On that note, I *HATE* how the lock screen INSISTS on combining notifications from an app. If I get 10 emails, I want to see 10 separate notification entries, damn it.
Using Android....is, well, annoying. I shouldn't have to download apps just to make everything work. No wonder my wife rejected the V30 and went back to iOS.

Believe it or not Android is getting better and better with how notifications are handled and how they can be custom tailored per each app. The usage of the notification center is that way for a reason for quick and easy access to your notifications without completely interrupting the user. The cool thing is that there are other apps that you can use in order to adjust the phone to perform how you want it. Android is all about customization. You can have it the way it comes from the manufacturer or you can add apps to customize your experience. For this reason it may take an Android user longer to initially set up a phone vs a iUser.
Good luck.
