Hi guys,
I've been tethering my phone to a windows laptop via usb for about a month now with no problems. However, because of the lack of support for usb tethering on the mac, I'm forced to use wifi tethering with my mac.
The issue is that wifi tethering keeps disabling its self every so often (maybe 20 mins)
I have the international s3 with the latest available ota update.
Any suggestions?

I've noticed similar behavior myself. Seems to turn itself off when nothing is connected on mine. Haven't used it enough to know the details of the behaviour though.
Mind you I'm using a firmware from six weeks ago, so a lot could have been fixed in the builds/updates since. I figure it has been fixed because I've not seen any other reports of the bug.

Go to portable hotspot settings, hit the menu button then timeout settings, hit never timeout (or a time)

LOL. I never though of a menu there too. I feel pretty ashamed of myself right now. But, I was spot on on the timeout though

Yup, this was indeed the issue. Timeout removed and I managed to successfully sit there browsing for a few hours last night.

HI,
Smart started no longer seems to be working. Tried different screen time out settings and everything but the eye icon just doesn't appear and the screen just turns off like normal.

have you tried using different lighting conditions?
mine only worked during afternoons, and even during then, its a hit or miss.
so i ended up just disabling it.
Tried under all conditions, the eye icon in the status bar just wont appear. Used to work before, don't know why its stopped.

In my case its working just fine, but after i turned it on first time i had to reboot my phone. Now is working (almost) perfect. If its oto dark front camera see s*** and power off the screen if you dont touch the screen.
Try to disable this feature, reboot your phone, turn smart stay on and reboot one more time. Should work.

Have you checked your front camera? Is it working right?
Camera is working fine, use it on Tango and for snapping photos.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem.
Fix
Look under Settings->Security->Lock Screen->Secured Lock Time and see if any of the options is selected. Select the option you like and this might fix the problem (it fixed mine).
My auto rotate has been horendously slow. Maybe taking it 20 seconds sometimes to turn. Does anyone else have this problem?

That's actually a feature. it's called S-wake. It scans your eyes and keeps the screen on while you're looking at it and turns it off when you stop looking at the screen. At least that's how it's meant to work but fails sometimes if ambient light is low, or for some reason if it doesn't detect your eyes.

Ok so kinda hard to explain.. but I have a Note 3 from Sprint - unrooted and just plane stock..
I like it and enjoying it..
I noticed the other day something strange.. then I thought.. I saw this a few times on my Galaxy S2....
when you turn my phone on it has the default red background to swipe...
With my phone sitting there every now and then I notice it turns itself on and gives a totally different screen...
this is just more of a why is it doing it and has anyone seen it before...
I seen it to but I think much of it
