Hi every body.
i am interested to buy a Titan (new and unlocked) in China the model name is X310e is the 3G (No 4G) i have read about the problems with the call and the HTC say is the antenna problem.
i read this problem is only for the American Version but i dont know if they are talking about the TITAN II.
I am really interested in this smartphone, can someone tell me is this problem with the antenna is in all titans model or only in the American Model.
tank you and have a nice day.
All Titans in general will have the antenna issue due to the phones schematics on how the antenna was designed. Since the whole casing shell acts as the antenna, it uses conducting points, which over time can get loose and weaken the signal. Another fact is that sometimes, even just holding the phone itself can reduce signal because your hand acts as a barrier between the signal and the antenna. I live in an area with plenty of signal, other phones get around 4-5 bars (Nokia Lumia 800, Samsung Omnia W, HTC Trophy), but my Titan gets barely like 0-1, 2 if I'm lucky. This also raises the problem of calls being dropped (and calls being muffled/quiet is another problem of the Titan). I love my Titan, but despite these issues, I can live for another 4 or 5 months until they release the 2nd gen WP8 devices.

Thank you for the information.
It means is a serious antenna issue then, the Titan is almost the half price than two weeks ago.
But this make me think more about if buy or not.
I want to buy the HTC 8S, but i lost my phone (Nokia N9) a few days ago and the 8S is no in China yet, i found the Titan is very good option and has a good price also.

Then it depends if you want to get it. It's a great phone but all these faults isn't making the phone any nicer. It's not also a developers point, unlike its predecessors HD7 and HD2 which are quite popular for making custom Roms. I heard china is getting a Lumia 920 soon on contract for free, I'm not sure on which network tho but that, I can recommend getting.
I want to buy a Windows phone to start to develop WP7 apps and WP8 also, i am begineer in mobile development but i want to start to do it and get some money.
BUt i need to use the phone every day, i dont make too much calls only messages and whatsapp.
the Lumia 920 is a great option, but is too expensive for me and with plans are free but the expensive plan for 2 years, i never use a mobile for more than 1 year, i always brake or sale it (i always be boring usin the same mobile every day)

My cell phone is dopod 830,also called Prophet,it used for more than three years. Now is Chinese Spring Festival, and I can be given sums of money from the adult.I wanna to buy htc Diamond 2 before, but since I have tried to play htc G2,I had been attracted, althought I haven't used Android System before.
To be honest,WM System is more attraction to me.Lately I found Toshiba TG01 is become cheaper than before, and the price in oversea buy is better than in China. So I wanna to buy it oversea, but I haven't decide where to buy is the best choice.I have friends in Toronto,San Francisco and Australia, and some of them will come back China lately.I want to know where to buy is more suitable? It's better to buy an unlocked phone. And can you show me the price you know?
Thx of all.
In UK you can pick 1 up for £150 and £10 you can unlock it on the web. Don`t know what the other countries are charging tho. May be Ebay you can get it cheaper. Good luck.
eaby cannot use in China...althought i have an international credit card, but is in US pay not UK...
can i unlock the machine myself?
£150 is very good price!I wanna to buy in Hong Kong, but need nearly £250, a bit expensive...

Still not unlocking method. Think before buying. If it's me I go buy a Iphone 3G. I did the mistake buy one. For Iphon you have a lot of help and program. TG01 have = 0. It's true have a big skreen and is fast but still hard locked.
Think before buying.
Maybe iPhone 3GS is better.I agree that iPhone is a good machine, but in China,we cannot use wifi everywhere as western countries. What is the worse, that Youtube cannot be connected. If I live in Hong Kong,iPhone is my choise, without thinking.
But you said that TG01 is = 0,I think it's too exaggerate.Although its now popular as htc,but it still a wm phone, isn't it?

Proobably can't do GPRS, and instead of the 3G icon you get HSDPA instead, and a roaming icon
Cheap price seems always far from me...what bad luck!
Well..i got mine in Italy over the net and got it mailed to me in Malaysia where I work just over a month ago for EUROS 280:-...compared to when it was first launched in 2009 and it was going for EURO 560:- or something in that neighbourhood of prices
The additional good news is that from the moment I got it and turned it on until now:
1. It has never hung
2. The audio in-call quality has always been great.
3. It is damn fast and showed little or no lag.
4. Battery is good enough unless you are using wifi and playing around with it 24/7
5. Ringer is a little on the quiet side (reminds me of the Motorola 'Ming' I bought 4 years ago) BUT it is not at all as bad as many have described.
Guess maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones but then again I guess I did something with my TG01..basically I did NOTHING never tried changing flashing ROMS, installing Manila, Jakarta etc or whatever else was never intended to be on it in the first place.
Now might the time in the UK to buy one...
I keep being tempted by this phone, just because of the size of the screen alone. Also, in the Orange shops here in the UK, the unit price has gone down to £129, but I don't know what the obligatory top up would be. If anyone has one here in the UK, what is the multimedia on it like? Are you able to download BBC iPlayer programmes to watch on it when commuting etc.? I'd be grateful for any input

Yes, if you use a program like Iplayer downloader or similar you can download videos from iplayer (and automatically remove DRM) and then play them on the phone, I watch videos almost every day as I commute; the good thing is that the core player that comes with the phone has got hardware acceleration so the videos are played smoothly and it play xvdi/divx files (if you know where to get them from )
Cheers
Hi I think if you have a problems with budget, than TG01 will be sold in Eastern Eur with 40% discount. If the point isn't in money, than wait for a TG02, its a real HD2 and iPhone killer
I'm itching to get off of T-Mobile. Think I should wait for the 900 or get the 800 from the local Microsoft store? 900 LTE sounds great. Battery life might suck bad though. Or get the 800 which has the screen size I like.
Thoughts? Do you love your 800?
This is exactly the dilemma I have. I've decided to wait for the 900 which most sources seem to be saying will launch in May in the UK.
I've had Lumia 800 since December. Had I known in December everything I know about this phone now, I'd have never bought it.
My advise, wait for 900. At least it guaranteed to have tethering.

What do you know about the 800 that's so bad?
I was also waiting for the Lumia 900 release, but that changed when I saw the size of the 900. It is bigger than the Samsung Focus S even though they do have the same size screens. Also the 900 is slightly smaller than the Titan. I had the Titan for 2 weeks and found it to be WAY to big for my needs.
So I am holding out for a good deal on a Lumia 800 with 850 band. Just my 2¢.

First of all as I customer I don't like to be lied to do. Nowhere in advertisement it was mentioned that Nokia Drive requires a data connection to find a location. It was advertised as a completely offline navigation software.
Secondly internet tethering was promised to be released in Jan'12. We would be lucky if we see it at all.
Of course everybody heard about the battery and audio quality disasters.
Basically customers who purchased 800 in Nov'11 - Jan'12 were using a beta quality product.
As for me my next phone is not gonna be a Nokia phone.

Internet tethering is coming in a future update - Nokia have confirmed this. Battery and audio quality issues have all been fixed since 12070. Can't comment on the Nokia Drive advert (I haven't seen the Lumia advertised with Nokia Drive) - however, Nokia Drive has been updated to version 3 and was presented at MWC with fully-functioning offline navigation and free traffic rerouting. As far as I know, it will be released in April.
This is Nokia's first WP7 phone - give them a chance to get used to the platform. They have released a new firmware update every month for the past four months, so they're obviously working hard to iron out all the kinks - most of which have been fixed with the latest 12070 update.
I'll admit there were issues to begin with, but the Lumia 800 is finally shaping up to be a decent phone now.
It was pictures of the 900 that made me consider getting a Lumia, but in the end I went for the 800 for the reason already mentioned above - screen size.
I had a HD7 with a 4.3" screen and yeah it's great for the web etc. but it's a pain to use as a phone and useless single-handed.
My Galaxy S with 4" screen seemed to be the perfect compromise between large screen and usability, I wouldn't want to go above that on a phone.
Personally I'm going to wait for something like the Nokia Prodigy.
Yes I know a long wait on that one but I have an iPhone 4 that will do for now and a great sim only tariff. I can wait a bit longer to get the phone I want.
Wait for 900 i guess, comparative with 800 it will rock!~~~
Took the Lumia 800 for screen size. I personally don't want a bigger phone and I am quite happy with the 800 so far.
@moosic Think of few things, like 4G LTE ready Windows Phone device, big screen, refreshed rear camera and a front-facing camera built-in it with a wider apeture and great image quality. You are getting a good featured smartphone but it seems like you'll have to wait for it way too long. There are rumors out there that say, it has been delayed on A&T till April 22nd. Does it worth it? I can't tell, basically for me, i'd like to have all those features but the size doesn't fit my pocket + you still have to wait.

I was also waiting for 900. But the size is to big for my woman hand, and i was also disapointed that the screen wasnt curved like the 800. So last friday I bought the 800 in magenta and I just love the phone.

Currently facing the same dilema. I'm due an upgrade on Orange to replace my Omnia 7.
Personally I don't care about a FFC so that isn't a selling point for me on the 900. I do think however the Omnia 7 is as big as I'd want to go at 4".
Having used Galaxy S2s i find that to be possibly too big.
Has there been any official word if the 800 will be updated to Apollo / WP8 when it rolls out? I don't want to upgrade in April and then have an obsolete OS version by November...

When you have carpel tunnel syndrome (me) thats a 10000x worse
Ive been forced back to a 4s just so I can keep value in my hand set till the next gen 3.7" screened Lumia comes out
I think the 800 is the perfect size and form factor. Just something about 900's size I don't care too much for..
That said, if front-facing camera were a priority, then you need the 900 regardless.
Camera's important to me; so my gut tells me that Nokia will use the 900 platform for their rumored Lumia Windows Phone incorporating Pure View- so if/when that happens, I'll make the jump to the bigger phone and live with the size of it..
Pure View in Windows Phone won't be until 2013 so waiting for that isn't that great of an idea.
Hello all,
I love big screens because I read a lot on phones,
so I decide to buy either the HTC Titan or the Titan II
my question to whom used both phones for a while
please advise which one should I invest my money in
I don't care a lot about camera or LTE network because I live in Egypt and LTE will be available within more than a year
I care a lot about signal strength and phone stability and long live
and somewhat the good looking and feel in hands
will the Titan I metal body be better than the Titan II plastic body?
I'll be waiting for your comments
and many thanks in advance
I have owned a Titan since January and find it to be one of the nicer Windows Phone 7 handsets after owning a few, However after trying a Nokia Lumia Have now ordered a Lumia 900, Screen size is 4.3" compared to 4.7" but has amoled screen and some nice Nokia Apps, Maybe worth considering? Can't comment on the Titan2 as Not available in UK yet but does look abit plasticky.

Thanks for your opinion,
and yes I know that the lumia phones are great, I've checked them at germany my self, they look great
but to be honest with you I prefer SLCD screens over AMOLED screens,
in reading small text AMOLED screens are horrible, but SLCD are great
as I said I read a lot of emails, news, and books on phones

Overall Performance is identical.. imo i like the look of the titan II but not enough to actually replace the reg titan... And the whole non removable battery i dislike... If for example i dropped the phone in water i would go for the battery OH WAIT you can't
can't speak on the titan2 but i have had my titan since november and its been rocksolid.its been dropped and accidently flung a few times and no problems.i use a rubber case and screen protector as the environments i work in are harsh. Great phone and excellent operating system. camera is good and the spec stands up to the recently released 900 and titan2 win7.5 phones. if you don't need lte and 16 mb camera then the titan is the one i would choose as they've sorted all the bugs that some of the titans had.
OK, but what about call quality on the Titan I
and rceiption bugs
I had a Titan until I shattered the screen. So, I got a Titan II.
Both are great phones, but you may as well get the Titan II for the extra benefits (camera, LTE, etc). It will not hurt you.

Mostly since things are fixed with updates while AT&T sucks at that
it does seem atandt titans had more than their share of problems where as the european unlocked titans have been for the most part very good. a couple issues with the early release pre nov 2011 but from nov on a good phone with regular updates

Hi. I am debating between the Huawei Honor 5X and the BLU Vivo 5. I am leaning towards the Vivo 5 because of the 32GB internal storage and the 3GB RAM (as compared to the 16GB and 2GB in the Honor 5X). Has anyone used the Vivo 5 enough to comment on the GPS? Does it lose the signal often, or can it hold on to the signal all the time the GPS is used? I had asked this question in the Honor 5X forum and have received replies that the Honor 5X has no problem holding on to the GPS signal at all. Did anyone face GPS issues with the Vivo 5? Thanks!
Gps blu vivo 5
I've had my VIVO 5 for a week and used Google maps for driving several times. I haven't had problem yet.
I was worried about the LTE signal of the 5 compared with the VIVO XL as it only has 3 of the LTE bands that ATT uses; but I haven't had any issues with that as well.
I like the storage, the build is solid and I've had several compliments from iPhone owners about the phone already.
Again, I've only had it a week so far but I really like. I came from a Samsung Galaxy S4, which had a ton of issues with the manufacturing of the phone and sim card errors and signal problems(and that was Samsung). I might have had a lemon as well to give credit to Samsung.
I would keep checking BB and Amazon but if you see it's in, buy it quick. I kept checking and one day I bought it and the next day it was gone again.
I think the Honor 5 has some better specs though from what I've read(minus the ROM).
I was in the same position, pulled the trigger on the Vivo 5, brought 3 of them. Im still pretty amazed by how light the device is, from the build, OS, to how fast it is out the box. GPS works excellent, I've been using it for two days now hard core. Haven't had any issues at all.
Hello, I've been using my new BLU VIVO 5 during the last 3 weeks and I have not found any problems, GPS works perfectly, no signal is cut or there are delays, the duration of the battery is approximately 1 day and a half, normal use , the charging time of the battery is super fast.
Excellent phone!
Yes the battery charges super fast!!
Answer to GPS Question
I have been using my vivo 5 for about 3 months now and the GPS is excellent. I have been using Google Maps to travel all over California and it has never let me down. This is an amazing phone, don't let the price fool you...I have owned Galaxy S3, S4, S5, and S7 Edge and this phone outperforms up to the S5 and is just as good as the S7 in my opinion. Personally I will never go back to $200+ phones as long as BLU keeps up with products of this quality and crazy cheap cost. I am still in shock...the phone just keeps impressing me everyday. Soon it will be the talk of the Cell Phone Industry...I don't see it staying this cheap once the word is out and the public has seen the proof. I'm actually going to purchase a couple more for gifts. Currently not many cases available, but I'm sure once they become popular...and they will, we will start to see more cases and accessories. Plus the phone comes unlocked! And I could go on and on, but the specs are enough to impress anyone. Been using the camera...beautiful pics...and the panorama option is so easy to use and the photos are amazing. Sorry to ramble, but this is my first response about my Vivo 5. Trust me, you will love this phone.

They still sell it on the regular website and Best Buy and New Egg are still selling them on ebay. But this is very interesting that they have stopped selling it on ebay.
If they don't have any stock, how would they be running anything on eBay? I don't think ebay lets you run pre-orders and such. I'd bet it will come back up when stock arrive shortly.
It's no about stock actually.
They don't want non-US users to get the chance to buy the US model outside of the US. Which you were able to using eBay.
I was told by BHPhoto that they are restricted by ZTE to sell the device to non-US customers.
The US version is the better one compared to the international model.
Lucky me I have a buddy in NY area who got the newegg pre-order of the grey version and will forward it to me. I'm in Europe and have tested the A2017G. Sent it back as I'm waiting for the A2017U (US Model).

Could you please detail why G version would be worse than U. It is same hardware and only modem is different but modem behaves better in G as read comments anywhere? What do you expect from U? If you have software issues I am sure that if any is fixed in one of two it will be sorted out on other one too.

Actually only a few points that tipped it over for me in favor for the U version.
A: Better Software support from ZTE USA.
B: The U version has VoLTE which is supported in ROM/Baseband. The G version does not and never will. (Not supported in the modem firmware).
C: U version allows you to enter EDL mode (Qualcomms Emergency Download Mode). I need this as I'm a dev. The G version can only enter DFU mode.
D: All the band's that are required in my Euro country and in the US are supported. I travel to friends in the US and don't want to have to switch phones.
E: With the newegg pre-order you were given free headphones for around 200$. After customs it will be the same price as the G version in euros but with additional free high quality headphones.
F: My buddy tested the phone for "bad signal reception" and other faults/defects I mentioned to look out for. For over a week before sending the device over. Else I would have told him to send it back.
He is using an OP3 and even compared them as a daily driver. He said it's on par with the OP3. He even said the Axon7 is like "stuck on 4G" while his OP3 loses 4G occasionally and gets 3G only.
He is an experienced IT tech. I trust his judgement.
He is even thinking about selling his OP3 and to grab an Axon7 as soon as CM is done.

The G model has a lower volume cap, possibly due to EU regulations, while the U model has a much higher cap. The G model also seems to have more issues with bootloader unlocking, while the U model is pretty straight forward.

Thanks for the details. You see it from developer point of view mainly as I see.
A) I don't know. May be but as I see much less G related problem was reported than U.
B) May be but Volte is not as wide spreaded in EU as in US. as far as I know. Otherwise It looks that workaroud (if not the final solution) for signal issue of US model is turning Volte off, so you can get in same boat easily.
C) I don't know how important it is for avaradge users. Orherwise it is also software fearure if I understand it well.
D) You are lucky. Not eveeybody can say that US bands cover of his/her country exactly.
E) Just because of this fact US version is not better. It is only cheaper.
F) It is strange because mostly US users complain for signal reception. I haven't had any issue with. G. It works perfectly and expectedly in big city as well as low signal country area. As I mentioned earlier it looks that workaroud (if not the final solution) for signal issue of US model is turning Volte off.
Also I read that overwriting field APN manually can solve few cell issues. I did it due to orher reason and I don't have any issue.
So after all you didn't mentioned anything why U would be better for users except Volte. It is just your taste and chance to get it cheaper.

That's why I said it's only a few points for _me_ and not for _all_ users.
And as I have a chance to get all those pros for the same price in the end it is a no brainer.
Also I do not believe that the antenna is so much different to the G model. It is more likely that a few batches had a bad antenna build-in and when ZTE realized that, due to complains, new batches after the affected one's were sent off, were all build with a better antenna in place.
The Chinese and US Models were on the first batches. The international ones were produced later. Look into Chinese forums complaining about reception problems.
Unfortunate it is how the greedy corporate industry world works today. Sell those affected phones until enough users complain. If they complain, offer an exchange. If they don't they made profit.
Just look at the Samsung Note 7 disaster. Same **** is happening there.
Not to mention Samsungs Panel Lottery for their TV which has been going on for a decade.
I worked for Huawei Europe HQ and could write a book about how corporations do their quality check behind the doors. Just saying I'm never gone touch a Huawei phone because of what I know.
(Don't ask I signed an nondisclosure agreement.)
In the end it's on you to decide if you want to keep the phone or not. Or if you want to pay 399$ with more pros or 449euro for more cons.
Isn't the chinese A2017 model better than the rest? I mean... like, you know... 6gb RAM vs 4gb... 128gb internal vs 64... and you can use all the U unlocks/tools w/ no issue?
Seems that many of you forget that having US version in Europe you are out of warranty.
To many customers warranty is very important to them.
Also EU has 3 years warranty policy while US 2 years.
I'm having a month now both gold and gray G version and no reception /WiFi issue at all.
Compared to my S7 Edge the call reception is the same level and WiFi is better.
Also G version will have in coming weeks official root and boot loader unlocked from ZTE without loosing the warranty.
Even that US version is getting first the official software updates it's just matter of time(less than 1 month) until G version also received the software update for the specific region(Europe)

You could be right. That's how the world works. You also are not enemy of your money as well as no one else.
Regarding the price I would say that EU price contains the average 21% EU VAT. So it means that price of EU version would be between $410 or 415 in US. So it is not a big deal. Also I think that EU citizens should pay duty if they import from US but it is already off topic.

They do. Just not on specific electronics like Notebooks, Computer Hardware, Cell phones etc
Oddly enough, amazon has also stopped selling the phone. I guess it could just be sold out though.
Hm, still "in stock" at amazon.com:
https://www.amazon.com/ZTE-Axon-unl...TF8&qid=1476347129&sr=8-3&keywords=zte+axon+7
Amazon.com has gold for $399.98, but the grey (which is what I want...) is $479.00. What gives???
