[Q] Help, Hung on AP Fastboot with low battery! - Motorola Droid RAZR

I think I have screwed up badly....
I was using MattyP's 215 leak to go back to 211... while it was downloading/flashing system it somehow hung up. Now it will only boot to the AP Fastboot mode and the battery is low - low enough that the moto flash command(s) will not work (says battery is too low).
I've tried a bunch of suggestions found here to try to get the battery charged, and none of them work. I know that if I could just get a 50-70% battery charge I could redo the flash and get the phone to boot.
So, any ideas now on what to do? The only other thing I can think of trying is the suggestion from another post to cut open an old USB cord and connect the black and red wires to the battery posts to get the phone to 'think' it is connected to a full battery. I'm just afraid I will fry the phone....
Any suggestions? Unfortunately I am out of warranty (just this month, naturally - Murphy's law!)

There is a factory cable that let you power-up your device without battery so you can flash it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055839
quote:
- The Razr must be charge to the minimum required the bootloader to enable the flashing process. There are other ways to charge your phone without the stock charger. You can search here on XDA for it.
PS: The factory service cable, allows you to bypass the battery check, by allowing the Razr to receive 5v straight from the usb port. As per CellZealot explanation on third post.

[TIP] Failed flashing SBF..

Hey, for anyone who fails flashing their sbf and is about to crap their pants (me a minute ago)....
I just flashed an SBF (or failed flashing it) and holding volume up or down would not work when powering on. Out of frustration I let my device just sit there, and after a while it automatically went into RSD mode because it failed to boot.
Not sure if this is talked about anywhere else (I didn't find it when I searched for a solution) but if anyone else is lazy like me and tries to flash on their front USB ports, here ya go.
Sounds like your battery was to low to flash......happened to me...think it needs to be above 50% to even flash or it will fail everytime

Oh word!?! I didn't think it would of played a major factor....quick question once I unlock the bootloader, which is the correct/preferred recovery program I should be using on my Photon cause I'm confused
I tried flashing it with 100% 90% 80% etc etc. Failed everytime. From what I've read that's just an issue. It fails when you flash it no matter what. And I downloaded a CWM custom recovery. And installed that onto my phone from fastboot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218417
Go there, and follow the steps. Should work. Worked for me. But I had to use the stock color.

Confirmed battery must be at least 50% to flash with RSD. It failed on me over and over again. I had to actually take the battery out and charge in an external charger for over an hour then it flashed fine.
Whats wrong with the front usb ports?
from what ive read i dont think you can charge your battery when your phone is in rsd mode.
i had to cut my usb charger and use the red wire on the "+" and the black wire where the "-" on the battery then i place the battery back in the phone and it will charge the phone while in rsd mode. and will keep it charging throught.
Hmmm this is why my phone isn't charging. Thank you. I have an extra cord laying around
Make sure your windows drive has around 2.5 GB of room before flashing.

They provide less power than the back ports. Ive always used my front ports for everything with my Photon though, through unlocking and all that and never had any issues.. I was way too lazy to pull tower out.. lol
Yea the back usb ports data transfer rate is two times faster than front usb ports. I've noticed when transferring music.

[Q] Phone will not charge - no ROM installed.

hello,
i have a bit of a predicament here. yesterday, i was preparing to pack up my atrix as i am selling it. i was making use of fastboot - erasing system, user data, recovery, and so on. the long and short of it is this: i erased the custom rom on the atrix, and i also erased the custom recovery. i didn't realise the battery was low, and, well, it 'died'. when i plug the phone into a charger, it doesn't go past the red motorola logo, the green led doesn't turn on, and the phone doesn't appear to charge.
i cannot make use of fastboot to flash a recovery image, as the battery is always too low to flash. whenever i try and charge the phone, it doesn't get past the red motorola logo (as the phone has no rom installed, and the custom recovery image has been erased), and the green led doesn't come on, as stated above. if i unplug the phone from the charger - be it after an hour, or two hours, it turns itself off immediately. trying to charge the phone via usb yields the same result.
so, with that said, it looks like i will have to buy a new battery, as that will have a bit of charge in it, i imagine. i imagine te original recovery is long gone, and there is no other option but to buy a new battery?
Well, you could charge your battery on a friend's phone or a store, or ask a friend to lend you their battery.
Once you get a battery with a charge, fastboot a recovery, copy a rom zip and flash it
There are more threads about battery charging than I have fingers, (and yes I have all 8 fingers and 2 thumbs)! I am not going to search for you for this exact reason. The predicament you are in is very easy to get out of! Use the search function, that's what it's there for!

Agree his method.
Simple method. Take an old phone charger or USB lead. Cut of the micro USB end. Strip the red and black wires. Fasten red to the positive terminal and black to the negative terminal on your battery with some tape. Let it charge for a few hours. Unplug if battery gets warm. This should put enough charge into the battery so you can put it back in the phone and flash. I had to do this with my HD2

Or try this just to see... it helps with some battery problems. Take the battery out and plug in the charger. If it goes to a picture of a battery with a question mark... put the battery in and let it charge.

[Q] AP Fastboot problem

I was downgrading from 4.0.4 to 2.3.5 and while flashing with RSDlite the battery suddely went down and it showed failure.
Since then I am not able to turn my phone on, nor even in the menu which shows the option of AP Fastboot.
When I plugin into the computer, it shows a white LED and nothing else. What should I do?

I have been seeing many threads here. One of them suggested to charge in AP fastboot mode using the buttons but that didn't work for me. I am yet to try the cable method.
Is there any other way out?
Guys, I cannot understand why users are trying to flash with low battery again and again. The problem is already known well, am I right?
So, put your device on the charger, NOT TO THE PC. Wait a while and check if it's charging. Maybe you are able to put the device into the fastboot mode only for a short moment, there you can shut it down pressing the power button shortly. The you should be able to charge it normally. If not, try a factory cable. AND at least: READ THE FORUMS!!!
Edit: And do NOT charge it with your PC! It will only charge with you charger.

My phone automatically boots in the fastboot mode and it shows battery low. I am not able to charge it.
I have been reading the forums and all the stuff I found is not working, that's why I made this new thread.
I think from fb mode press vol down and power. This should turn off and you may be able to charge. If not either get a factory lead made or make on yourself

doubt it, ive been trying endless methods to try make it work as waiting for factory cable from ebay is gonna be like 20-25working days, not counting the despatch of the item after 3 business days of payment being received. god that is soooooo long 4 me!! arghhhh
You'll need a factory cable to flash a new rom in order to charge ur razr. Do a factory cable forum search.
Don't be scared by the name, it's just a modified cable you do by yourself.
Good luck

I screwed something up trying to flash. I get back up sometimes but
Now my phone no longer charges. It also shows signal but cant
Do anything unless on wifi. I cant flash anything else to this phone.
I think it still charging in fastboot mode but it takes longer time. Try to charge it (in fastboot mode) for 3-4 hours. It works for me.

No I think it is looking like going on e bay or getting one made locally either by yourself or electronics shop
I have given my phone in a Motorola Service Centre. I will get it back next week, so now I just have to wait!

Failed CM10 Install

So I wanted CM 10 on my phone and did all the reading as was following a guide. I got as far as installing CM 10 and on the initial start-up it says it can take up to five minutes.. Well, it sits there forever and goes there every time I reboot.
Now, when I hold the volume and power buttons it goes into Android system recovery <3e> I know I had to boot into bootstrap recovery to be able to load the file off my external drive - otherwise you get the failed signature and it won't load.
Can I do anything here to fix my phone? I don't don't care what I loose, I need this working.
Thanks-
Kyle
Ok - so I'm trying to fastboot VRZ_XT912_6.5.1-73_DHD-11_TA-3_1FF_02 onto my phone bia FlashME as RSD Lite will no longer work and its telling me battery low.
I've had this plugged into a Motorola branded wall charger for nearly 4 hours and it still says battery low. Im switching to the dual usb black square charger and a Motorola branded usb cable and trying again - after this I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to charge it...
holding volume and power and going to bp tools to get the battery meter to show does nothing, sits at moto screen forever... I dont want to claim this on my insurance - but I may have to. Help?

To charge the phone, you will now need the Motorola factory Charging Cable that bridges pin 4 with pin 1...anyways this will allow the phone to charge now that it is stuck in bootloop. The bridging of the pins allows the phone to think it is in the factory programming mode, allowing it to charge.
I would include a link to the post, but I am a new member...can't post links...but Google the below search term, and there is a few sites on how to make the cable, or where to buy it.
Now, I believe this will solve your charging issue. I don't know about flashing back to stock or making the ROM work, and I would look around a little more on the subject of this cable because I just stumbled across a thread about this a few days ago. A quick Google/XDA search on "Motorola Factory Charge Cable Razr" Should be sufficient.
---EDIT---
After looking through the forums again, I found a thread that may help you...it is in the middle of this forum, and it is called Low Battery charge in Ap Fastboot Fix. Take a look at that and it may help you.
Its toast - wont charge. took it all apart, hacked a cable and put the leads on the battery and gave up. put it back together - calling asurian to get a replacement. **** this thing

Is it possible to boot up my old Droid X without a battery?

I replaced my old Droid X a long time ago. Eventually the battery swelled and I threw it away.. so my old X currently has no battery. When I plug it into PC USB, nothing at all happens. If I plug it into wall power, the Motorola logo comes up, then a few moments later a big emtpy battery icon appears with a question mark in it. I can't get it to go anywhere from there.
Is there some kind of key combination I can push to force it to boot into the OS or is a battery, even a dead one, required to operate the device?
I just want to tinker around with it.
You are going to need some sort of battery. My X's battery lasts a grand total of 27 seconds after boot but as long as it's there I can flash roms and turn it on. I had an issue where I had to flash a rom to charge it and I couldn't flash a rom till it was charged.. I looked everywhere for a way to use it without the battery but the only one was to find a charged battery. I ended up borrowing a friends' battery.

interesting to know. I've tried charging my battery with a USB charger and it takes forever to get any type of charge. I am surprised to hear you could boot the phone with a USB.
What would happen if you short out the battery contacts while it's plugged in? Would that trick the phone into thinking there's a battery in place?
