i own a sumsung i9001 with cm 10 on it.
my question is it possible to use the miui messaging system in a cayanogenmod rom?
and if it is possible can some one tell me how do i do?
Just grab the apk of the messaging app from miui and put it in /system/app with right permissions (rw-r--r--). Remove the old one (backup first). Reboot. Try. Idk if it will work properly or not. Make a backup of the old messaging apk, so that if it doesn't work u can put it back there with same permissions.
And u have to reboot for the change to apply.

And as without the - camera )))
maybe you can hide album app, or set new app that u want to use as default and Album will not be used
just freeze it using tittanium..it same like u remove it..the advantage is,if something happen u can just defrost and used it.
i quess there is two camera.apk with different version in system/app folder, just remove the right one.
(correct me if i'm wrong)
Download SystemApp Remover and remove all systemapps (well the ones that u want to uninstall)
I deleted gallery.apk from system/app and it work, greetings sorry for the english jaja
Now I only have gallery3d.apk
also, if you have rooted (phone), go to market, search root uninstaller and unistall system app
Titanium Backup Pro also can be used to unistall system apps.
Hi everybody.
I use paul-xxx 's MiniCM7 Pro - V20-Final and was wondering if it is possible to use the stock 2.1 calendar.
I cannot use android calendar because of the need to sign in in a Google account, as i don't have one and don't want to create one.
I liked the stock apk cause it is simple and just wanna see the date without having to sync with internet.
SEMCCalendar and other calendar associated applications are not working with MiniCM7 Pro...
Thanx in advance

normally what i do is if i want a app from older ROMS i save the apk of that app on to my SDcard and use App installer to install it (normally it works)
if that doesnt work i try copying the .apk file to where the other app is stored
e.g if i want messaging app, i copy it and paste it in system/app/Mms.apk using file managers like root explorer, astro file manager etc...
because theres where the Mms.apk is stored
to see change reboot your phone

Yes i understood what you said m8 and have done all those things before but nothing happens.
It seems like it's more complicated, it's like the stock SE calendar apks are not compatible with the rom.
As far as i'm concerned for the stock calendar to work in stock 2.1 rom are required 3 apks placed in system/apps:
-CalendarProvider.apk
-SemcCalendar.apk
-SemcCalendarVanillaApi.apk
I put them in system's apps, i change the permissions to rw-r--r-- and then reboot. The only thing is the calendar's icon that appears but if you press it error appears, meaning the app cannot be run.
Ok so i just installed cm 7.2, love it by the way adw launcher lagged when scrolling and animations so i deleted and installed adw launcher ex, silky smooth). Anyway to my point, on my old rom and stock rom (gingerreal 2.0 and android 2.3.6) i had swype which is the best android keyboard in my opinion. But on cm7.2 theres no sywpe so i installed it but every time i installed force closed (i installed them manually by putting them in system - apps and changing permissions and rebooting). The beta worked fine but i didnt like the look of it. Is there a version of swype that doesnt FC or do i have to live with the beta version
Download this - http://db.tt/EXqZjyCe
Copy to system/lib folder using root explorer and set permissions to rw-r--r--
Copy swype's apk to system/app folder and set permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot
Not really sure if this will help.

Didn't work still displays fc window I've attatched the permissions I set
Are they right?
Why not just stick with Swype beta? Just install and use, no need to copy libs and set permission and whatsoever, furthermore its so much better than the old Swype.
And if u dont like the original looks, theres plenty of homemade repack out there with lovely skins. Currently i use a flat black skin.
oh no even the beta wont install now

Delete the libs u copy for the old Swype
Ive aldready done that it says the application was not installed
Good news and bad news. Well I managed to get the swype beta installed, all I had to do was get the installer, boot in recovery mode, clear cache and dalvik cache and reboot, the bad news is it keeps force closing

It isn't the right permissions. tj_droid wrote: rw-r--r--
I tried his method and it worked for me, not on CM, on StockLite, but I think it'll work for you too.
Btw: I understand you, the beta is very annoying for me too. Once you try to put back the stock swype, you will not able to use beta.
So copy that lib file and swype.apk, set the right permission , it must work. I attached you a picture, it'll may help.
Is it possible to push the aosp mms.apk to system, fix permissions, and then delete the Sense messaging apk. I won't to replace the Sense sms with aosp, which I have from the play edition roms. This was possible on my old Galaxy S3. Anybody know?
I can confirm this is possible. I pulled the aosp messaging apk which is named Mms.apk out of a GPE rom. The apk is located in system/priv-app/. I copied the stock messaging app and placed it on my external card as a backup. I then deleted the stock messaging app which is found in system/priv-app. I ut the aosp in that directory and changed permissions to Owner - R/W, Group - R, Others - R, and then installed it.

Kitkat has a built in feature to allow you to set a default messaging app just like you can set a default launcher. You can just install the AOSP messaging app and set it as default.
I know anyone reading this will find this question weird but its not normally Trebuchet is the stock launcher but not in Carbon rom.
Phone : GT-19300
ROM : Carbon Nightly for GT-I9300 Android KitKat 4.4.2
Hi All,
Carbon ROM for GT-I9300 comes with "Launcher3" as there default launcher, it seems like a modified version of CM11
Trebuchet Launcher. It seems to be buggy in the rom and i just wanted to replace that with stock CM11 Launcher so tried a few things.
Trick 1
Set the default launcher as Apex after installing it.
I used Titanium Backup to do a backup of default "Launcher3" and then Uninstalled it.
Rebooted the system and then Carbon rom some how restored the Launcher3 back automatically.
Trick 2
Set the default launcher as Apex after installing it.
I used Titanium Backup to do a backup of default "Launcher3" and then set it as user app.
Rebooted the system and then Carbon rom some how restored the Launcher3 back as system app. :silly:
I mean why cant i simply get rid of the buggy Launcher3.
I have the CM11 Trebuchet Launcher as a flashable zip but flashing it conflicts with Launcher3 and that's why need to get rif of Launcher3 completely.
My last resort seems to be some how modify the rom zip and replace the Launcher3 and put CM11 Trebuchet in its place.
Is this even possible is the query here

Titanium seems to have issues uninstalling system apps unless you update your Superuser app to SuperSU from the Play Store and update the binary and reboot. Other options include using a root uninstaller app or, I think there might be a system app remover option in the Carbon Fiber settings, though I have not played with Carbon in awhile, so not 100% on that.
Thanks for you reply will check and revert.

No problem. If you want to know how to do it before you install the rom, then you just need to grab 7zip for the PC, and use it to open the rom zip as an archive then browse to /system/app and delete the Launcher3.apk and copy Trebuchet in. Important to open as archive and not to unzip and re-zip or you will have to re-sign it as just unzipping breaks the rom's signature and it will fail installation in recovery with an aborted message.
How can I check if the zip remains or is signed?
I hope this is not a dumb question.

Just open as archive and don't unzip it and you'll be fine. You'll know if it doesn't work if it fails to install. lol
