Hey guys,
I ran the Suckit Verizon boot unlocker exploit, and it was successful. At which point I used TW Recovery to flash Android Revolution HD 8.0 (N7100 ROM). My phone wouldn't connect to the Verizon network, saying I did not insert the proper SIM card. I found this strange, but realized Verizon locks their network to international phones. I then used the Verizon Toolkit to flash back to stock recovery and ROM. After doing so, I still had no luck in activating my phone.
I called tech support (now having stock everything) and they told me it was likely my SIM card. After spending 2 hours at the store today, it is clearly not the SIM card. They have no idea what the problem is...
When I flashed Android Revolution, I wiped my efs. Could that be the problem? Is it possible to flash a new EFS or COM3? I have no clue how to reactivate to the network..
Anyone have this problem? I did a search on both Suckit Verizon and the Verizon toolkit thread and no one appeared to suffer from this. Please help! Any solutions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Will update if those guys at Verizon come through.
Definitely has to do with wiping my EFS and not saving it. Under Settings > About > Status IMEI is unknown as well as all other carrier info.
Can someone send me their EFS or is their a way to restore the EFS without having backed it up?
Flash the full Odin restore image and that should fix the problem. Note, it will wipe your data and re-lock the bootloader, but it should at least connect to the network again.
If the stock Odin doesn't work since your imei is unknown this may be what you need, but listen to imnuts first

Flashed stock rom. No luck. Now I have to root back, as one of the prerequisites is being rooted. Will get back.
I kind of had this same problem right after I rooted/unlocked and before flashing any ROMs. I was getting signal bars but kept getting a cannot connect to network error every time I tried to place a call. I called customer service and they "reset" my account, whatever that means but it still didn't work. Started driving to the Verizon store and decided to try one last factory reset and it started working! An IT guy at my work said the account reset plus factory reset got my device sync'd with Verizon signal again. Don't know if what he said is true...don't know why it worked...don't know if this will help you but I thought I would share my experience. I know what you are going through so good luck!

I had almost the same problem using MIUI for AT&T's variant. I was able to get most functionality back by accessing the hidden menu and doing the ##RTN#, but still cannot get 4G LTE back. Maybe this will help you get started too.

According to the OP instructions - which I have done entirely correct. Put phone in Debugging, Went to Qualcomm settings in Hidden menu and set to "RMNET + DM + MODEM" , connected to the proper COM port, clicked the READ on top, however when I go to click the second read to populate the information -> Says cannot set device into DM mode.
The instructions and accompanied video do not reference having to place the device into DM mode at all. The fact that I am getting this error message is also a unique problem.
Anyone know what this could mean or how to fix it? Could it be due to the USB Qualcomm settings not "taking or shifting", although it does confirm that I changed by saying "Saved"
Also, can Verizon Wireless sync my IMEI in store if I bring the original box with the IMEI barcode on it ? Can they flash / scan it to the phone?
anybody?
Can Verizon Wireless sync my IMEI in store if I bring the original box with the IMEI barcode on it ? Can they flash / scan it to the phone?
I know with a fact that the stores do not carry any flashing software for any smartphones. So there is nothing they can do.

Managed to wipe my EFS partition while trying to factory unlock my Galaxy S4 SCH-i545.
I had an IMEI of all 0's. I used EFS Pro change my IMEI to match that of the sticker under my battery. I managed to connect to the mobile network again, but this time as data/voice roaming. I have also backed up my /efs folder to my SD card. I used ODIN to use a .PIT file to repartition, and a stock Galaxy S4 image to do a full factory restore. I then re-rooted and installed CWM using the I545 All-In-One Tool. The phone was then in Factory/Test mode. I used Rom Toolbox's Root Browser go to /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode. I then changed it from "OFF" to "ON," removing the Factory Mode display after a reboot.
However, I am still unable to get 4G, still data roaming, and still unable to use the phone as I normally did. I no longer have a copy of the original /efs folder, as it was lost during the ODIN restore. Any way I can restore full use of my phone?

I'm in the same boat. I didn't explicitly delete my EFS partition. I simply backed it up using Hyperdrives Aroma prior to installation. My phone has these connection issues also. Are you certain EFS is responsible? I'm not sure how I managed to corrupt it with a backup. Moreover my IMEI wasn't reset. I can't find the backup on my phone either. Was on the phone with tech support for an hour last night to no avail. Please let me know if you figure out how to fix it. I'll keep you posted as well. I just order a new sim card

Currently working on a way to use another phone's /efs folder, after the proper modifications, in my phone.
I did this. Do a factory reset through settings menu on phone. It reset and bingo

found a solution ? got same problem
Since my original post, I have obtained a copy, obtained via dd using ADB while the phone was in recovery. It has not fixed the issue. Rather, the IMEI was again reset to 0 after the restoration. Getting a new SIM card has not helped, either. I'm about to restore everything using an ODIN image to complete stock, and send the unit in for repair.
EDIT:
Here are the things I've tried so far:
I have also tried flashing the ME7 radio firmware, to see if that could do something. So far, nothing.
I have edited the serial_no in the efs folder, no luck as well.
I may restore the bootloader to factory, and update to the ME7 build to see if that can fix the issue.
Restored mmcblk0p10, mmcblk0p13, mmcblk0p14, and mmcblk0p15 with clones from known-good devices obtained via dd when the phone was in recovery.
Used DFS to push a PRL and change the IMEI to the correct one.
Tried EFS Pro to restore an EFS backup made from another phone.
Repartition via a PIT file.
Factory restore of VRUAMDK via ODIN.
Flashed VRUAME7 radio firmware.

EFS problem?
I'm not sure if I'm having a similar EFS problem...
I factory restored then rooted with the all in 1 kit. Periodically I see a message and big red X that says "please install sim card"
I'm getting a terrible delay from hitting call to when it actually connects - sometimes it won't connect at all. I have to reboot phone to get voice calls but data works fine, which makes me think its not EFS...
sound familiar to anyone?

I thought you had already eliminated the EFS as an issue. It sounds like you need a new SIM card. My phone did that before I received a new one
EFS Problem here also
I have a similar problem. I can surf the web in 4G and on Wi-Fi, but when I attempt to make a call, I get "Service Unavailable" and all my inbound calls go to voicemail. So, no voice calls for me. I called verizon, and they gave me a new SIM, but I still have the same issue.
IMEI and IMEI SV match the back of the phone:
Fix:
> Settings > Accounts > Backup and reset
> Factory data reset
i restored back to stock. verizon sent me a new sim and refurb phone.
installed the new sim in old phone and it said could not activate...
thoughts?

Odin packages do not fix the efs partition. The efs partition is where the phone's information is stored. Like your unique imei number. Without said number the phone cannot be activated at all. There are paid services available that will fix it for a fee(Don't pm me... You have Google. Use it)
You can try to do an nv data reset but I doubt that will work either because that relies on the idea that you just messed up something in your NV data and not fully deleted the partition.
To do nv data reset you need to get into your touchwiz hidden menu. Can't access hidden menu? You need to enable it(Google).
Hidden menu is huge with tons of submenus. I won't be walking you through any of it specifically. But here are some dialer codes. For more... Google.
*#06# shows if your IMEI is still there
*#1234# show hardware and software version
*#*#4636#*#* test mode. Set preferred network mode. Enable disable radio. Change band. Etc
*#7780# and *2767*3855# factory reset
*#197428640# and *#0011# and *#9090# and *#2263# and *#27663368378# service menu (through this you can generally access the entire hidden menu by hitting menu button and selecting back until you are at the root of the menu)... Navigating said menu is on YOU.
*#2263# rf band select
*#7284# UART MODEM PDA selection
Not trying to be giant **** or anything but that's why there are EFS warnings&posts. Also why some root users shouldn't really have root( / ) access.

I'm in a similar situation.
Empty EFS folder (No Backup)
Because of this it is stuck in Factory Mode.
I was able to freeze factory mode through TiBu but the only things i haven't been
able to fix are my lock screen and power menu. (no lock screen/power menu)
I've tried every fix i was able to dig up on here but no luck. :\
Any suggestions would be appreciated
I recently rooted my i527 then unlocked it for use on T-Mobile, And it was working just fine, Getting Signal and EDGE, So earlier this morning I took out my sim card and rebooted the phone a few times, Changing the APN from epc.tmobile.com to fast.tmobile.com thinking that was going to get me from going from EDGE to 4G or LTE... Yeah Right! Little did I know, It requires a lot more than just changing the APN.. But thats beside the point.
Anyway, While I was taking my sim out and rebooting, After once or twice of doing this, The phone would not come up with T-Mobile signal AT ALL. After a while of just blankness it would pick up What Im guessing is WCDMA signal or something, But not T-Mobile Active signal like it was doing just fine before. So after 20 or so reboots (thinking that was the problem), And looking around, I noticed that the phone is not issuing a IMEI number. Not in settings, and not *#06# either. The IMEI number has been lost. When I go to settings to view it in About Device it just says "Unknown". I'm assuming this is my problem, Once I get the phones IMEI number back, It will pick up T-Mobile signal again.
At the beginning of this, I was simply trying to get high speed data on the device.. Now I can't even make and receive phone calls. :crying: Any help on how to recover the IMEI would be great, and highly appreciated.
Thanks

If you still have the unlock code try reseting the phone using kies... then see if your imei comes back..
Used ODIN to install correct ROM. This might help.
Get your officla ROM from http://www.sammobile.com/

Hi XDA ,
Am new in the Forum & First of all thanks to all of you for helping the forum and people. I'm having difficulties and I cant seem to find the way to fix this(its been 2 weeks)
My problem is the following: I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 details:
software version: N900PVPUBMI3
hardware version N900P.00
Status: network: Digital roaming
mobile network type CDMA-AxRTT
Android 4.4.2

A friend bought me this phone and called my carrier METROPCS and made them set up the phone so I could use it. they asked him for imei and sim number. He was able to use the phone and 4GLTE(he was doing this to verify it was unlocked) later on he gave me the phone and I had to do the same procedure he did but first I did a factory data reset.
After it I wasn't able to set it up again.
I've noticed that APN SETTINGS has disappeared from the menu, cant search for networks, when I load IMEI it no longer shows the imei but it shows MEID B0000000 and besides all of this I have a message that says SIM CARD INVALID.(but the sim card works perfectly on my other phone)
I will all my life appreciate if you help me with this matter please!
PS. phone is rooted as far as I know(root check on Google play store said it was)

Hi Jim/XDA
I'm still not able to connect to the network. Regarding the IMEI on the back part i know its there however what im saying is that im not able to see my imei through command when i dial *#06#
i as well had this errors today when i woke up:
: LTE:ESM-x EMM-14(ive seen this error when this issue started but it dissapeared and it came back know)
data roaming: you have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off.
On mobile networks i remember i use to be able to select many(GSM,CDMA,etc) now in network mode i only see 2 options LTE/CDMA,CDMA. Currently LTE/CDMA is selected and if you just look at the network mode option without actually opening it it shows CDMA/LTE/EVDO.
Also when i opened the SCRTN it shows on black screen.
I tried to do some minor changes on Galaxy tools like the SIM UICC UNLOCK all mps, sales, default code on XAS. Factory & keystring ON. MSL/SPC show 222222.
After i did SIM UICC UNLOCK and restarted phone know took away all errors but i see the signal bars faded out and with a little red x on top of it. I've read the manual but im still wondering if there might still be things to set on a particular way that are not specified on it Can you please help me set this up properly?

Is this a Sprint variant? If so, you shouldn't have factory reset the phone. It looked like the phone was previously flashed to MetroPCS and by resetting the phone, it removed all the carrier data.
You will have to reflash the phone to get it working again.

Hey guys, for those who need to edit an APN (Access Point Names), there is a little secret.
Go Settings, and scroll down the list. You will find a search box. Type there Access Piont Names and here it is.
The steps above are neccesary, since APN setting is hidden.
Before I start with the issue, let me begin with some basic information: This is in regards to my Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900T (T-mobile), running Lollipop 5.1.1, FOG6 build, DOB1 baseband, rooted, deodexed, but otherwise stock.
My problem: Today I flashed a rom via Mobile Odin Pro and soft-bricked my device. After a lot of hair pulling and screaming at my phone and computer, I finally got my phone up and running again. After trying many different solutions, I eventually tried re-flashing TWRP through Odin (recovery initially would not boot, hence the soft-brick), which succeeded, and then recovered my phone by restoring from a previous backup.
This got my phone up and running again, but once it boot, I had no service. I first checked my APN settings, but was presented with a message stating, "Unable to view the access point name settings. Access is restricted for the current user profile." I tried adding a new APN, but once I added it, it did not appear in the APN list, which continued to only display the above message. I then tried to "Search now" for Network Operators, but nothing was found. So next I checked my IMEI through "About Device", and discovered it was set to "Unknown". Checking the IMEI through the dialer (*#06#) lists the IMEI as "null / null".
I have searched high and low and tried everything I could find to fix this. I tried restoring my TWRP EFS backup to no effect. I also tried flashing the modem through Odin, as well as restoring my TWRP modem backup. I tried using an Xposed app to manually set the IMEI back to its original value (I happen to have my phone's original IMEI number written down from when I SIM unlocked my device), but while this updated the IMEI displayed in the dialer (through *#06#), it did not change the value in "About Device" and did not restore my service.
The last solution I tried (found here: http://www.technobezz.com/restore-galaxy-null-imei-and-fix-not-registered-on-network/) involves me using the dialer to enter Service Mode to make some changes; however, while dialing *#197328640# did open the Service Mode menu, the menu was totally blank.
Please help! Given the current state of my phone, I cannot make or receive calls or texts or do anything else requiring a mobile connection. I have looked everywhere and I don't know what else to try :crying: :crying:
Assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated, as until I am able to fix this, I don't have a functional phone
Any suggestions?
