Moving apps to SD???? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I got a 64g class 10 SD card for Xmas and want to move my apps to my SD. I've tried apps2sd from the play store (all of them) and it says something isn't supported or recognized (something along those lines). I did the mod with script manager swapping the internal and external storages which essentially gave me 60 gigs of internal and 10 gigs external but the gallery, camera and a few other things were sort of borked.
I was talking with a buddy that said apps2sd worked for him with his 32g class 10.
I have less then a gig of storage left on my internal just from apps (my music, pics etc are on my external).
Is this a 64g SD card thing or am I doing something wrong?

Your friend is lying, most likely. That or its not apps2sd.
Not that you need that anyway. You need something to move the associated data, like DirectoryBind. Moving little piddly apps under /data/app isn't going to do much for you.

Check out the mod under android development that swaps the internal storage with microSD, so essentially your 64gb sd would be swapped with your 16gb internal, and all apps would go to sd by themselves.

In this dropbox are two SD Card Swaps. One is for a card formatted in exFat and one for Fat32.
If you use TWRP you'll be fine with the exFat one because your card is most likely exFat already. If you want to use CWM go get a program that will format your SD card into Fat 32 and flash the Fat 32 zip.
NEXT DISCLAIMER: In the event that radios are leaked you may want to remove the swap before flashing. It will most likely screw something up. You can remove the swap by going into the etc folder, clicking on init.d and removing the file that is named similarly to the zip file

The OP DOES NOT WANT TO DO THE CARD SWAP.

32gb class 10 card format via pc or Evo3d

In the past I've been formatting any card via my pc prior to putting it in my phone. But being the 3d is dual core and the card being class 10 I was wondering if it was best to do it in the phone or does it really matter?
Or does it even need to be formatted at all?
You can just put it in the phone and it will format it automatically for you, unless you need to copy over the contents of your old card to it, then you can format it on your PC and then copy the data over to it.

Thanks. I will let the phone do the formatting then. I was just under assumption that formatting through pc would be better for it.

Oh man I saw this too late. I've already copied over 29gb of stuff from my old card to this new one. Dang it. It took about an hour an half which isn't too bad but I have to think it over if I wanna redo this. Anyway I will keep that file handy incase I see some issue with the card that might require reformatting.
How does this differ from default PC formatting?

(R) Mod to have phone recognize removable SD card as internal

Is there a mod out there that mounts the external, removable micro sim card as the internal sdcard, and the internal as the external? I have a 32gb class 10 SD card and at this point it is practically empty because all of my nandroids are on the internal SD. It would rock if someone could make this and inwoukd definitely donate to the person who is willing to help. It is getting annoying because I am already almost out of space on my internal SD. Thanks in advance

I'm not sure how to answer your original question but you can move nandroid backups to your external sd card and if you need it, move it back later.

Yes i know that, but that takes too way too long and it is a pain in the ass. But thanks
what would possibly warrant posting this in the dev section?
I swear someone did this for the international. Or it may have been another phone I have but I know its been done. But even the Dec who wrote the script.to join the partitions said he wouldn't use it on a daily driver. I think it was just more a proof of concept

It can be done with CM7. There is a setting in there to swap the cards so that the internal will be emmc and external will be sdcard. Some people have accidently swapped them and didn't know how they did it or how to get it back to normal.

If the root method you are helping me with works you can just place the vold.fstab on system/etc yourself, glad to be helping

oh yes sir you can ''use'' it but all apps are automatically installed to the ''sd card'' (internal hard drive)
will reflashing undo the swap?

This mod is wonderful. I like knowing that if my phone's internal memory fails (or if I accidentally wipe it), I can just pop out my SD card because it has all my important data. For me, one of the benefits of most Android phones over the iPhone is the removable memory! And only about half of the apps I use were able to default to using the external card when the internal one was present and mounted first. Switching them solves that.

Not necessarily. Coming from the Nook Tablet forums, this has been an issue that has been debated for some time. When you want to write quickly to a card you are better off with a higher class. However, if you need to read from a card, i.e. running an app or a whole OS, or booting off of into a recovery, higher rated cards don't mean faster read rates. Some lower class cards have a higher read rate. There is a discussion about this in the Nook Color forums and is hit on sometimes in the Nook Tab forums, sorry I don't have a link though.
IMHO Sandisk class 4 have the highest performance for reading from. This may not apply though, once you go to a bigger cards; 16G or 32G - I've only had personal experience with 4G cards.

moving apps to sd card

i didn't see any priors threads to this so i am asking is this possible i don't see any options in the app managment section and app2sd card pro didn't work do custom roms have this if so i will be rooting asap. EDIT: Looks like i have found a way around it those of you interested in moving big data to sd card, app does require root but works flawlessly in my experience so far http://market.android.com/search?q=pname:com.slf.ListglApp

It is there you may not have searched with the correct terms.
Apps2sd hasn't really worked in a while on a lot of phones. Least that I have owned.
If you flash a custom ROM you can do an SD card swap. So if you had a 32GB mem card it would become your "internal" and your 16GB would become the "external"

Though I haven't tried it yet, there are reports that directory bind works on the note 2 in a similar fashion. I hope this is true because the nand in the phone is much quicker than a card.

I can confirm that Directory Bind does work providing you're on a non-4.2 rom. Android 4.2's new multi-user feature causes Directory Bind to not properly mount apps to the external SD card.
Anyway, here's the link if you're interested. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262

I have an external SD card that I keep the latest version on, and move the old versions to my PC and keep them there until I get rid of the device. If my ROM devs come out with a new version, I download it to my PC, check the MD5 to make sure it downloaded correctly and then after it runs cleanly for a week or so with no major issues I move it to my phone and install it. Then after it runs cleanly on my phone for a week or so I move my backup of the old ROM and Nandroid I did before loading the new ROM, to my PC for as long as I feel it's necessary. I'll eventually delete them from my PC when they get real old and I'm sure I won't want to use them again. But I do keep a backup of the original software the phone came with or anything else I think is significant.
Anyway, that's what I do but I'm old and anal about this kind of stuff. If you talk to 100 people about this you will get 100 different responses.
Good Luck!
If I've helped, please hit the thanks button.
I do just about the same as the guy above me. I'll move older backups to a computer so I'm not filling my internal/external storage. I generally keep one back up on my external as well as Roms I have downloaded. It would be less time consuming to move files with a computer than downloading what you need. Tw backups are larger than the ROM itself in my experience.
I don't have a computer all I have is my Gs5 to use to do this with?what storage apps do you guys mostly prefer to download ROMs,apps, pics, etc to Google drive, mega,Dropbox, box, etc.Because on my Gs5 I usually have 2,3 ROMs backed up on my device and I want to move the ROMs,apps, etc to a storage for I can free up space on my device. And then whenever I can always move a backed up ROM from my storage and reinstall them onto my device. What's the fastest, easiest most convenient way to do this. Thanks In advance!!!

Honestly, if you don't have a computer its probably better to get a higher capacity SD card. I don't download loads of Roms. If I feel the need to test one I'll backup, flash, test, then keep or delete the file based on my experience.
All my photos are backed up to Dropbox, as well as videos. I try to keep as many things as possible on the external card to keep the system running smoothly. I'd also suggest maybe keeping another micro SD with all the things you want on it.
Backing up things online usually requires you to download them again to access them, which to me, is inefficient. You'd also need to find a site that hosts large files. I don't know much how much help I am, but I'd try to get at least a 64gb card if you don't have a PC. I have over 40 gigs of backups alone on my computer.
