If you want MS Office the only way you are going to get it it to buy a Windows RT or Windows 8 device. Even if someone finds some kind of hack for it it won't be legal and microsoft will sue them out of business like apple dd with the company selling OSX on non-apple hardware.

I use a lot MS Word and Excel files in my Prime for work.
Polaris is as good as you need just for viewing.
To edit MS Word files. Polaris, Quickoffice and Officesuite are great.
To edit MS Excel files is more difficult but Planmaker has all you need.

MS Office for Android will be out in the Spring..
Google it.

This is the truth...
The textmaker and planmaker office programs are impressive indeed.... They are pricy but worth the cost as they are by far the best in my experience.

If you really need windows on your prime try using OnLive Desktop, it allows you to log in to your own personal Windows 7 virtual machine with access to apps like Word & Excel for free

I think Google Drive is awesome as it automatically makes your files accessible on Google Chrome on your computer.

Best remote desktop viewer for nook?

I've been looking for a good remote desktop viewer for awhile with no luck. Free or paid it doesn't matter. I just want one that works great.

I'll second TeamViewer. You have to download the .apk from their website though. They don't distribute through the Market.

I didn't like the free version of Team Viewer, because, correct me if I'm wrong, it timed out the server on my desktop after a few minutes (30 or so).
I'm currently using androidVNC, which works pretty well, and Wyse PocketCloud (which can connect to RDP, but I've only used the VNC capabilities)

and is open source . +1 for androidVNC.
I personally use the paid version of PocketCloud and love it. I've set some clients up with the free version and they haven't had any problems that I'm aware of.
*Edit*
I didn't see NCKevo's post from earlier. I use PocketCloud's RDP and VNC depending on the situation and have not run into any issues.
Also, the free version of PocketCloud is now limited to 1 saved connection.
I know this is bringing back a dead thread but if anyone finds this thread I want them to know what I decided on. I finally found a great solution. Splashtop. It is the best solution for me.

I downloaded Splashtop and the streamer for my PC but can't get them to connect...my nook doesn't find my PC. Anyone have any experience with getting them to connect? PC is running Win& Ultimate behind a Verizon (westell) router.
Never mind 3rd party software that you have to install on your pc/mac/Linux, I like Jump Desktop. Just set up an SMB server on your machine and your good Togo. Should be simple enough since most platforms comes with native SMB support.
Remember, this is just my 2 cents

After testing many apps, I settled on TeamViewer.
It's the only one that offers a decent refresh rate, doesn't pixelate, has simple controls for single-click, double-click and drag. Plus it's the only one that I've found that works well on my Nook and my LG G2X.
EDIT:
After reading about Jump Desktop (market:http://goo.gl/1SPPQ) mentioned by racks, I think I'll give that a shot. Looks intuitive.
+1 Splashtop
It streams sound, and I was able to play minecraft on the NC streaming from the PC. Also tried watching a couple of movies one of them 720p and it ran great. All this was done connected to the same network obviously, I haven't tried the option of entering your google credentials to be able to access the pc through a different network, I would think i would be slower, depending on the internet connection. Specially since my ISP only gives me 1mb upload.
If you are still undecided google or youtube "splashtop skyrim"

[Q] Internet Explorer on Android ?

Hello there,
I'm willing to buy an asus transformer tablet and I need to know if there is any possibility to run internet explorer on it, cause I need it for my job and all other browsers aren't fully compatible with the online system of my company. Thanks in advance
I don't believe it will ever be possible at all to run Internet Explorer on Android, specifically because it's Internet Explorer. I don't think you'll ever see it happen, sorry.
I would like more chrome google for android, but I do not think it is possible
Unlikely, Internet Explorer as a Microsoft product is only made for Windows Vista+ (XP is no longer supported as of IE9) and Windows Phone/Zune at this point. The Mac version was last supported up to IE 5.2.3. You could always use a browser that lets you change the user agent. My college forces use to use IE to log into their site, however, I managed to get in with Midori (as a linux user).
As for the Transformer, I have one of those my self and love it. I just want Dolphin Tab to improve (note: Dolphin DOES support the ability to change your user agent.
You could also use splashtop HD to connect to a home computer running windows and use IE from there, I did that to run Windows Developer Preview.
chrome lite is good

In my experience when I have ran into this Firefox has been accepted as an alternative to IE, but I know it wouldn't work every time.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
You will never get internet explorer on Android. Don't hold out for it.
You definitely can try using a browser that allows you to change the user agent, but be sure to test it on your current computer before buying android. Many IE-only websites won't display correctly (or at all) in other browsers, regardless of what the user agent is set to. Its unfortunately common.

I need to use a particular website for work which requires IE browser and the closest I've got is with Firefox and adding an add on called Phony. Although the formatting isn't the best and i can't view some menu items due to this. So really is a pain and not much good in the scheme of things.

I haven't tried this, but it should work
1.Download Dolphin Browser
2. go to Menu> More> Settings> Dolphin settings> User Agent>
3.click custom
4.enter
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/5.0
or another useragent string(you can get them here: useragentstring.com/pages/Internet%20Explorer/)
What do you want IE?
Not available for android.
Chrome is better
Why are so many people asking WHY he wants it? Can you not read the OP? It clearly states other browsers don't work for his job.
OP, sorry to say, this probably will not come to fruition. =(
I really hate those websites that don't work on other browsers, except the worst browser I ever saw.

Yeah, it's easy for us to say that, but try convincing IT managers from nearly every medium/large corporation in America to switch to browsers made by smaller firms that can't offer the huge support base that MS has. Firefox would be the most viable alternative, but mozilla's already turned away large groups of potential users with their update methodology.

Requesting : A very Windows Look alike theme?

Hi , im thinking about to buy a Asus eee pad transformer/prime , can't decide.
and i saw aloooot of reviews and stuff like themes if you root it.
For an example , metro Ui , And Xbox dashboard theme, ive been looking for something to look alike windows.
There are alot of things that makes me want to buy this tablet.
For an example (the primary thing) open it up superfast Open the web browser or check mails really easy and to watch movies.
But since i saw you can also root it and make it play Modern combat 3 with mouse
or just without rooting it play With a xbox360 gamepad.
Sorry got off-topic
But anyways im requesting any theme looking like windows (NOT METRO UI) <
the main reason im not going to upgrade to win8 when it comes, unless you can disable it.
Or otherwise a Mac theme , Or anything to make it really look like a notebook in the home
Im not a android user now but ive had a android phone before i broke it.
Thank you in advance : D!
Theres an xbox theme and tutorial on here if you look around.
Edited, here it is

In the release preview how? I hate the metro look on a pc.
There is an app for the phones called launcher 7 but it does not work on tablets, maybe u want to search the play store and ask the creator to make it for tablets too.
Secondly, you could also use splash top to make it look like windows too!
yes, going all the way back to Win8 Developer Preview

Yeah I seen this but not for the release preview, I had to set up a scheduler to bypass it when the pc starts. and use an app to make a start button
For real? I bet if the registry does not allow switching modes out-of-the-box, adding the key or string from the developer preview would fix the problem after reboot.

Windows 8

Hi,
it's possibile to install Windows 8, with vmware or something like this, on note 2? or we can only use the infrastrutture client server, of vwmare client for android? Because i need to intall it, in local, for work...
Thanks in advance.
That's an ambitious wish, but the Note 2 has no x68 architecture, so no...
Windows 8 on Arm won't help either, without some serious porting efforts an besides that: you' d need the specific Arm arcitecture Vmware client too...
You can however use web-based clients to control hypervisors. There are many, not only Vmware...

No. Not possible. Windows 8 is x86 architecture. You will never be able to run it on ARM.
WinRT or WP8 may be possible, but extremely unlikely.
All you'll really be able to do is use an RDP client to connect to a real Windows 8 machine.
I second the RDP method: I use it myself (Remote Desktop Client, Xtralogic) and on the Note 2 with all that screen real estate, it's a breeze...
Combine it with a VPN (either builtin or download OpenVPN) and you are ready to go anywhere with it.

It isn't possible.
But....you can install windows8 launcher that fakes the appearence of windows 8. Search it on playstore.
