[Q] G-tablet Help Please..?? - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have tried everything I can find (many times) ....I had a working gtab with 1.1, have not touched it in years, wanted to load one of the new roms as apparently they are much faster now. Did a few things, 1.1 to 1.2, stock, etc....not really sure of the order or where I messed up, but now I am stuck with APX only, no recovery menu, no birds, yet I can always get to APX. No matter what script I run it always ends with a bad data error of some type: "sending file: system.img \ 18743296/125207808 bytes sentdata send failed NvError 0x120002 command failure: create failed (bad data)". I have tried 250mb, 300mb.
I feel I have messed up the partitions somewhere related to the bct? Tried format, comes up with magic mismatch.
Any ideas on what I can do next, besides use the wife's Ipad?

Fixed....
Well I finally figured out I cannot possibly be the only person in the world with this issue.....(right, I can't be)..so took a deep breath after 2 days of messing with this, found another cable, system resolved! Don't think your usb cable is good just because its new.......now on to install a rom!

Sound like you might have a bad download. Try this link http://teamdrh.com/DRH-Downloads/Full_Stock_NVFlash_CWM_5504_Touch.zip.
That one is already modified to expand the system partition to 250m and prep everything else. Also includes the recovery image 5504 beta 15. With this setup you should still be able to run any of the ROMs I post and later ROMs like HC all the way to Froyo. If wanting to run any of the other JB firmware you will have to use a system prep setup to expand the system to a 350m. That can be found here http://teamdrh.com/DRH-Downloads/TeamDRH_350M_Prep.zip. I would start with the first one and update your drivers and use a USB connection on your PC that is connected to the mother board and not a hub. Both packages have the updated drivers included in the package. Just guide your wizard to load them from the folder they are in.

[Q] bricked note2, some help?

Hey all, had this guy running fine for a while, ticked the wrong setting in twrp and deleted everything. Previously used Casual with no issues. This is an i605 (Verizon Note 2)
Can use ODIN3 (1.85) to get it back to stock 4.2.2. VZWAMC3. Loads, fine.
Want to unlock so I am going the route of casual.
Tried on 3 diff comps, 2 windows 1 linux. Same errors each time,
Output from the linux box is here
pastebin dot com / RhAM2YPk (sorry I can't link since new user)
It's bootlooping afterwards, gotta jig it and odin it back to stock to be useable, blah, no fun
Note also tried the root66 ROM, Odin no likey. (maybe versioning or something else?)
I have a nandroid on my sdcard if I can get this rooted/twrp installed to go back to. I was doing them daily since I had been running cyanogen nightlies.
and ypeaxp
Ran it again @ work, linux mint box. Diff cable. Same result
pastebin dot com /VnGsjTE2 (sorry still cant post url's yet)
key lines seem to be
ERROR: Failed to confirm end of file transfer sequence!
ERROR: recovery upload failed!
Ending session...
ERROR: Failed to send end session packet!
Back to Odin and reflashing stock I suppose for now. Really curious to why this won't work... is there another method I can take to this?
In my own stupidity, panic, and lack of sleep over the past day, I realized my issue.
WRONG VERSION of CASUAL for current stock rom.
I hate when it's the small oversights, but then also at the same time am happy that I was able to fix it.
CASUAL is awesome, and I owe Adam some props and likely donations. Works beautifully in linux and windows.
Last time, windows, flawless,
This time, linux, and flawless.
How is it that XDA devs can make something cross platform that WORKS and most corp coders cant...
Just updating this thread in case anyone runs into it. Don't be dumb and miss the small stuff. Saves time and frustration.

[Q] Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong in getting my device back to stock?

So I'm trying to get my device back to stock so I can ship my device to someone I sold it too but somehow I'm running into issues.
I installed Terrasilent kernal and custom rom on my US 4.0 way back last spring and never had to connect my device to a computer since. Well now obviously I have to and am trying to do it off a new laptop I recently purchased.
My steps so have gone like this.
1. Downloaded and installed Samsung Drivers
2. Downloaded and installed C++ Redistrubiutable from: http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=30679
(I only got the bottom one. Did I need all 3?
3. Downloaded Latest Heimdall
4. Ran zadig and updated the one Samsung device that showed up
5. Ran Heimdall and loaded the pit and recovery files from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850
But every time I get some sort of error.
The latest error being
Beginning session...
ERROR: Failed to begin session!
Releasing device interface...
After trying reinstalling drivers and such I've also ran into this error
error: failed to access device. libusb error: -12
Am I missing a very simple step? Somehow even though Heimdall won't flash anything I've also managed to get my device soft bricked.
Sadly I don't remember having such issues when I originally rooted my device and flashed it. Any ideas? I'd really love to get this device shipped out to the person it was sold to.

Did you installed the drivers while you were in download mode? Maybe this would solve your actual issues. Also if you used a different port, you need to reinstall the drivers once again AFAIK.

[Q] Frustrated, bricked - Hipstreet Titan-A

Hi
I've looked around the XDA Forums, and on various other forums. I have a Hipstreet Titan, I tried to root using the Tasselhof's Root package, and it went reasonably well until I selected the option (#3) to copy over the build.prop file. After that I get the Android logo every boot-up. Factory wipe I guess wiped - I don't really have any way to verify. I pushed a different build.prop on, but that didn't seem to take (or make any difference). For some reason my adb shell (whateverother parms) doesn't work. It returns "- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -". So I figure the OS has been toasted. (I didn't have this much trouble rooting my LG Eclypse. )
Now, I just need to find an original ROM, or some other slightly modded (rooted would be nice) ROM to get on to my device before I find out how far out my back door I can throw this thing. As this Hipstreet tablet is an off brand (really far off, but hey, I got it free), I haven't been able to find a ROM posted anywhere. Likely I just haven't looked in the right spot yet. Yes, I know, I should have backed up first - but I didn't. As soon as I get an OS working on this, I'll back it up - promise.
I've also tried "adb sideload system.img" using a system image file that comes with the Android ADT kit and the factory recovery mode. That appears to upload the file, reboot the device then report (on the windows terminal) "* failed to write data 'protocol fault (no status)' *". The device reboots into the recovery system screen.
So, if someone would be so kind as to point me to a rom file that will work on this device, it would be most appreciated.
PS this is the Titan rev A, when I got the device (second hand) the Google Play store functioned just fine. The person I got it from is not a techy, so I doubt they applied any root or update to it, so I'm guessing it came already set up.
Ok, let me rephrase simply.
Can someone with a working Hipstreet Titan, rooted or not, please send me, or post a link to their ROM?

I know people have this device, and it's quite reasonable to assume that not all of them are bricked, therefore this request is technically feasible. Further, with a number of people posting about this device in technical forums, I know people with technical knowledge own this device.
I would really hate to throw out an otherwise perfectly good tablet.

Not yet. I had given up for a while. Most of my internet searches kept coming back to the same few articles on this website.
I have a lead on someone who has another Titan, but they live seven hours away - it's been difficult coordinating a meeting.

It looks like they made a few different versions of the tablet and it matters also about how much storage as to which firmware you should try. The person here: http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...eet-titan-a13-7-inch-tab-firmware-needed.html was able to load the firmware from another device that was similar. There were some major issues, but better to get it running first and sort that out later I guess. But his link has a bunch of other a13 tablet firmwares. If that is the same as yours, possibly one of them will be enough to boot up.

Thanks for the help! I'll have a look at some of those. I'd really like to have a tablet back that doesn't have a 3.5" screen.
So I managed to get LiveSuit 1.11 installed on Win 8-64, yes it IS doable. But, my problem is I can't get the tablet recognized. The Power+Vol boot takes it in to "recovery" mode, (so reports "adb devices") - does this keep it from being able to be used by LiveSuit?
"adb wait-for-device" hangs
In my Device Manager I have Android Device->Android ADB Interface, and Universal Serial Bus controllers->USB Device(VID_1f3a_PID_efe8) with a yellow exclamation.
I know I had "adb wait-for-device" passing fine at one point, but I don't remember what I had to do to get there. So much trouble for a free tablet.
I have a Titan that I unfortunately tried to root using what would only work on the ICS model and it's the JB model. It bootloops on the Android boot sequence. I can adb into the tablet and browse it, and I can see in the logcat where it gives up and restarts.
I saw the post on that other forum about using the Tragidy firmware but that file at Dorkfiles now appears to be paywalled. If anyone has that or another compatible firmware already downloaded and would be able to share, that would be wonderful.
At this point the Titan in front of me may as well be a mini cutting board or a large coaster. Not that it matters much, as some store gave it out to my parents for free and we all own better devices. It's just that they don't own any Androids and I thought I could configure this one as an easy remote for them to push content from their media server to their Smart TV instead of using the TV's complicated interface.

So I managed to get a system backup off of my father-in-law's Titan - just have to figure out how to get it on my brick. I'm having great difficulty trying to do a restore while in recovery mode.
What means did you use to back it up?

The adb backup command doesn't back up the system files. Unless there's some other way to use it that I'm not aware of?

Aw crap, really? The cutting board a-la-iPad commercial is sounding like such a good idea at the moment.
On the good tablet I could get in the shell - "adb shell", and then "su", but then what? How do you copy all the files off the system through the USB onto the computer from the shell? For whatever reason (and I dislike ADB for this) I could not do "adb pull /* /destination-folder/*" - it kept saying that it was skipping a lot of files. Or otherwise if I was trying other variations on commands and parameters, adb would just spew its help page - never mind telling me what's wrong with the command I just entered.
Why, oh why, is it so hard to take a copy of a good working OS and put it on to another tablet?
But, make you a deal - help me get a good system image off this working tablet and I'll toss it to ya.
If you can find the right mount points on the partition table got may be able to make a system dump using dd. But restoring it I have no idea since there's no custom recovery available for this tablet.

[Q] missing bitmaps & drivers on dis nabi 2 device specific help plz

Plz pardon my rant but I need major helpppppppppp lol, I've spent days scouring this site & google to try to fix this myself. I've built pc's but delayed learning droid because it's worse then mickersoft from what I've seen. I babysit for a lady raising her 3 granddaughters, they don't have net & were only able to access a few things. Sooo I volunteered to add some games, I was so flabbergasted at the bloat, shear greed and limitations of both versions of dis ui. I wanted to just disable it to use a different launcher but nooo to easy. no good deed goes unpunished lol. I updated the stock to the current as of two weeks ago ota kitkat and it went down hill fast, the dis ui worked for the most part but it wouldn't let me in the settings that's on the nabi mode for no apparent reason.
So not being able to find much current info for dis version, I made the huge mistake of using kingroots apk. it chocked but then work fine except I still had the above problem. no matter what I tried to clean or debloat. I got stupid tired and did a factory reset it now won't boot fully. I only get a pop up loop even in safe mode of nabiSetup has stopped. I can only turn off but can access recovery and the fastboot etc! I give it wins this round lol.
I have tried both win 10 32 & 64bit I only got it to connect once, it said I unlocked the bootloader but nothing can find the device to reboot-bootloader thru adb or NabiLab, 15 sec abd and etc. I'm to tired to think straight and to new to this so I must be missing something. there has to be away to get droid back on it! I can usually access the tablet and the sd card thru win explorer but no matter witch drivers I've tried it will not connect properly or the drivers won't install fully even with drive sig disabled. so it has to be because of the bitmap error I found in recovery or because it won't fully boot to access the usb on the tablet??
cliff-notes
1. the devise will not fully boot I get a nabiSetup has stopped popup loop in normal & safe mode I can only shut it off.
2a I can still get in recovery I tried to flash it but I assume I was using the wrong file nothing would load, but noticed E: missing bitmap stage_empty & stage_fill it seems to be a common droid problem but no info to be found for this devise version.
2b In the device manager fastboot comes and goes or I see a USB device descriptor failed or set address I think it was and pdanet stalls. I'm gonna fdisk laptop again it's had way to many driver attempts to be sure that's some of problem not operator error or usb in a mood again.
3. being brain-dead tired & a droid newbieish. I can't get to the usb to play nice so I can't install twrp. I assume because of the usb drivers ie google and etc not showing up right in device mangr. no usb on nabi which I just remembered the developer options vanished, that's why I decide to reset since what I think is the reset pinhole didn't work?
p.s I can access win explorer most of the time. the common droid/disney folders are showing but I'm unclear what all is missing.. can someone please give me a laymens clue how to get the os back on it. I deleted the cache and etc to no avail. I pieced together other peeps info here but so far I'm special no one has my exact errors lol. my gut says it's fixable from what I have read it seems to makes a difference its a disney version I don't care what's on it as long as it works at this point any ideas or help is deeply appreciated. I'm running win 10 ent 64bit at the moment and it was stock disney version of NABI2-NV7A-US-D with 4.4.1 before bad update of kitkat ota.

It's hard to understand all of that but it sounds like perhaps you deleted some bloat that you should have, you sound like having driver issues, and possibly wrong TWRP version. Need to clear that up and then reinstall the stock Disney ROM.
I'd start here it has all the tools/TWRP/ROM's you need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nabi-2/general/nabi-information-t3229119
So sorry hun, toshiba is driving me nuts and I'm having a bad add moment or three lol. I read about you retiring. so I tried hard not to bother you. now I'm really confused. I've read your nabi2 general info post and even ran across your youtube vids. the problem is I'm not familiar with adb. & the included NabiLabGUI drivers, win10 either fails to finish saying it was interrupted. or it just won't install the 32 bit drivers, I thought I as suppose to use.
The 64bit driver 3 out of 4 install but, I can not get the Google Inc, driver to install properly even with the inf file. (ie the android_winusb.inf ) it says the system can't find the file, it can install the older versions from NabiLabGUI or naked drivers. but doesn't show in add/remove and it still won't detect the tablet most of the time lol.
Pda also has conflicts with adb, I got the nablab disney option to detect it but still failed to install twrp saying it can't find devise and I noticed in device manager 2 driver problems that will not let me update manually or they go missing if I try to force windows to reinstall. (device descriptor request & set address failed)
I must be missing something big, I also tried the 15sec and minimal adb. I assume because the tablet won't fully boot up, windows doesn't know what to do with it. when I tried different cables. windows 10 enterprise won't play nice at all now. so I will format again to be safe but lost what to try next.
I guess my questions should be is there a work around or a full inf version of the newer drivers for NabiLabGUI2015 that might work with this demonic disney nabi2.
&
Is NabiLabGUI compatible with .net framework 4.6 advanced services? (I may have to downgrade o/s. on the nabhacks site is says .net 4.5 is a prerequisites.) I don't know much about the app but saw 4.6 comes preinstalled, I can't install 4.5 yet, I saw there has been compatibility issues. and it won't let you revert versions easily if at all.
I'm to tired of this tab to think straight anymore and so grateful any help I'm in way over my head here.
Update
I lost the battle but I won the war, now google & supersu are messing with me as usual but it boots so I win lol :victory::silly:

Question Any workarounds for OTA not working over USB 3.0+?

Just got my Pixel 6, trying to get everything updated - after a bit of a battle and having to use the web flasher to rescue it, I'm almost there, but currently I've got A13 on one slot and A12 a the other (I uploaded the bootloader on the 12 side at least, so no risk of a hard brick). But every time I try to sideload the OTA, it hangs at 0-7%. Tried the other PC, same issue, different cable, same problem. Using a USB 2.0 hub lets it proceed, but at like... 1% every two minutes. Is there anything faster than this/any workaround for the USB 3.0 bug? I've tried on two different PCs, and reinstalled the Google USB drivers, to no avail.
I'm also totally new to the whole A/B partition thing - I have no idea when I'm flashing to slot A or slot B, apart from the fact that apparently sideload installs to the inactive slot. (Since I did get the new bootloader installed to the other slot at least, can I just switch slots and use the web flasher again? That worked fine for this slot.)
Edit: Sorry, bad phrasing in the title; issue is sideloading the OTA.
Edit 2: PixelFlasher flashes the whole factory image (with the patched boot image)? I thought it just flashed the boot image. Huh.

Edit 2: PixelFlasher flashes the whole factory image (with the patched boot image)? I thought it just flashed the boot image. Huh.

That did work for the current slot, yeah - that was how I ended up saving it after I ran into the "Your device is corrupt" error. That flashes it to the current slot, though, and I was trying to figure out how to flash it to the other so I'd have Android 13 on both, and was still a little nervous even after flashing the 13 bootloader without having the entire OTA on that slot. I ended up just sitting out the couple of hours getting the OTA to sideload over USB 2.0, hopefully from here on out I can just use the web flasher or PixelFlasher since I don't have to worry about bricking anymore.
EDIT: Found a fix for fastboot/sideload not working over USB 3! Stick this in a .reg file and run it (or, if you don't trust it, you can always do it by adding these values yourself (they're all REG_BINARY), the reg file's just faster.) After I made these changes I'm able to use at least fastboot over USB 3 with no issue, and MAGNITUDES faster - and I'd imagine it's the same case for sideloading, since I was running into the same issue. No apparent issues caused by doing this.
