Im Having This Wierd Problem On All AOSP/AOKP ROMs That When I Restore My Messages (Thousands At A Time) And I Go To My Messeges It Just Freezes And Does Nothing. I Restart The Phone And All And There Still not There, I Tried GoSMS And Stock Messeging App And Same Thing. This Is A Big Problem For Me Because I Text A lot And Have To Switch Back To my Sense ROMs To Do A Lot Of Texting Although I Prefer Sense. Anybody Know A Possible Fix Or Anything That Helps?
Did what someone suggested in the other thread about upping the limit help?

I have searched the web and found no discussion about it anywhere, leave alone xda-developers forum.
I have an X10i running on an Android custom ROM - CM 6.3.1.
I have a very unique and strange problem in my phone which is very annoying and causing inconvenience.
All the messages (SMSes) are being threaded wrongly and randomly. That is, an SMS coming from 'A' threaded to 'B'. B's SMSes threaded to 'C'. C's SMSes threaded to sometime A and Sometime B. And A's SMS create a new thread sometimes. An SMS coming from a totally new person or source threaded either A, B or C whereas they are not at all related anyhow etc.
This may sound unique and unbelivable but i am really facing this problem since a couple of months. Before that it was working fine.
The various steps which i have already tried but got no success are :
1) Wiped out the entire depository of SMSes and started afresh.
2) Reset my phone to factory default.
3) Tried different custom ROMs or different version of a custom ROMs.
I do not understand why the phone is behaving so strangely. A help from someone will be greatly appreciated.
Don't know if this would help but did you try using Stock super vanilla 2.1 just to see what happens?

Sorry.... but would u mind explaining what is Stock super vanilla 2.1?
1. Installed History Eraser app and erased app cache, search histories, SMSes, and call logs.
2. Uninstalled native Messaging app through Titanium Back up app.
3. Rebooted and then installed another popular SMS handling app - Handcent SMS.
The problem still remain as it is.
Anyone there to take the challenge.
This doesn't happen all the time but when I send an sms to a friend who I have sent plenty of messages to (more than usual friends) there is a lag in the animation when I send it. I have tried limiting the number of messages per thread and that did not help. It also doesn't seem to matter if there are a lot of apps open. It is very annoying and hopefully can be fixed. I am on the stock 2.3.5 firmware (KI3) but this has been happening since I got the phone. Any suggestions?
No one else has this problem?
I did when I first bought the phone, however after updating to 2.3.5 it dissapeared. I stopped usng it anyways, prefer handcent
i noticed that in 2.3.4 which i updated yesterday.....i tried to delete the conversation with lots of sms and it was smooth again, it wasn't doing so in 2.3.3. they fix one thing and another goes off, classic!!
gabrio
I fixed it actually by taking off split view. So far so good.
If anyone can help? I'm using Omega 8.0 at the moment but I am still playing around with various roms.
I want the sms app to be able to show the time the message was sent when you view message details (as opposed to only time received).
I know the MIUI rom does this well and when I flashed MIUI and restored my messages the information was there. I've only seen this feature on MIUI roms. I'm wondering is there some way of doing this with other rom sms apps? I currently use sms timstamp but I don't like the fact that it puts the information into the message body.
Still wondering about this - I was on paranoid android and CM-9 for a while and they had this feature, I've since changed to criskelo and the sent time is not there.
Is there something I can do to change this without having to install 'sms timestamp' or something similar?
In s3 stock sms app there is no option
But u can download cm9 sms app
And try
Thanks! That seems to have worked - so simple really
Stock SMS app has been modded to display sending time: here
Hi there, long time lurker first time flasher (oo-er)
I put the ICS rom on my phone by xball and loved it (still to remove bloat etc and will probably wait untill both cameras are fixed before keeping it) however....
One thing that doesnt seem mentioned in the topic or anywhere else on google i can find is in ICS when using messaging i have an inbox, outbox and spam tab. There doesnt seem to be any way to switch it to conversation mode (that i can see) the same way it worked in GB. Have i missed something with this rom?
A second question, not as important but ill bolt it on. I backed up all my texts using SMS backup and restore, yet when i restore them in ics, they don't appear. some research suggests its to do with the way that ICS now handles a "database" of sms records is there any easy way of restoring them from the SMSBaR xml file?
Cheers
Mozzy.
Hey guys, i have a problem with stock messaging app, more of an annoyance actually, on all touchwiz based ROMs, even the stock one my messaging app has slowdowns when i scroll through messages. I really don't know what's causing the lag as i don't have much messages plus I've even tried emptying all messages just to see if it'll make it go away but it didn't. It's really a thorn in my side on an otherwise super fast and fluid phone so if anyone has any ideas help pls
Same here... Need a fix asap anyone know? :-\ my s3 is international version, problem occurred after android 4.1.2 update and I've done factory resets no fix
