HML HDMI out working with ROMS - HTC Amaze 4G

Which roms (Preferably ICS or JB)work with an MHL HDMI out adapter, I currently have Dark Glass ONE 0.4 CM10 ROM installed but it doesn't seem MHL is working :/
this is the same adapter im using
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Micro...105?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2578f45f81

hmm im not sure if there's a list but you could always go directly to the threads of rom's you might want to flash and ask them directly to get a faster response.. and if its broken in a CM10 base rom then chances are it's most likely broken in other CM10 based roms.. (likely..) but anyways it'd be faster to go to the roms you might be interested in and ask directly

I'm new to s2

Heys guy I just brought a S2 and it will arrive in 4 more days, been using a x10i and has been rooting and installing custom rom.
Now I'm new to S2, any thing in particular that I should know?
What is the Original Android Development and the Android Development difference?
Which is the some of the recommended ROM (no bugs, don't want MIUI) since there's really a lot custom rom compared to my previous x10i.
And one more question, what is the price of the HDTV Adapter? Can I connect S2 to a just HD ready tv with hdmi port? Or it must be a full HD tv?

Original android is supposed to be ASOP tweaks/roms whereäs the other has to do with touchwiz (I believe, but then again I've seen threads crossposted in the wrong section all the time). As for ROMs, I would personally stay far away from the ICS ROMs because they're nowhere near ready for daily use; there are many bugs and problems. When looking through firmwares there's no difference between XW and XX other than the countries that the ROM was released into, you can still flash these ROMs for use anywhere in the world. Personally I'm using XXKK5 because KL1 and above are developer builds with inconsistent framework changes. CheckROM KK5 is what I suggest for a stable ROM that works good. I also highly recommend JKay deluxe. CM7 is also an option, but I personally had problems with charging and was forced off the ROM. Your mileäge may vary. Also there are a ton of radio firmwares available: try out the latest revision and take note of your battery usage over a few days. Try others to see which works best for you. There's no real "golden" radio firmware. I personally use KH3 on AT&T in Phoenix.

If you wanna to try ICS ROMs, I will suggest you try simplistic. Now I use it as daily rom and I feel it's good enough.
And if you want to use HDTC Adapter , I suggest you stay in Stock Rom first. As I know, most custom roms don't support HDMI output.
There are no recommended roms. Try some out for yourself & see how you find them. A rom that works well for me will not necessarily give you the same experience.
for my opinion i suggest you flash cm7
but if like the intersting things, just flash cm7/andyX

Have you tried wiping and reinstalling the ROM
Ricey
wait for cm9, i've tried the devel vers and is very fast!
Just a suggestion
Hiya! Well, since you haven't got your phone yet, I would suggest you play around with your stock ROM first. The Original Android Development is for AOSP ROMs, ROMs that were created from scratch. The Android Development section is for custom tweaked versions of the stock ROM if I'm not mistaken.
I'm currently using Simplistic ICS but it has its fair share of bugs. You might wanna try insanity ii. It's a nice AOSP ROM. Never had FC's and it's amazingly fast and battery life is great. Good luck!
Hi bud, good choice of phone. If you want best standard ginger bread go to original development and flash intratech KK5 original Sammy ROM it's seamless!!!
Or, like me and you want to jump into ICS go to www.darkyrom.com and flash facieto's ICS LP2 THEN on top of that, upgrade to his LP6! Came out this week and it's seamless and crash free, all works!

As I know, to get someone call your phone just solve the home-button issues.
I never met lock screen problem. I am using RC5 + Update 2 , try this combination. Also remember , don't directly flash update package after installation. Following these steps: Install RC5 - (reboot) - Install Update 1 - (reboot) - Install Update 2 - (reboot) - Call from others phone to unlock home button.
Hope this help. Good Luck , bro.

Or is there any custom rom that is based on stock rom and also does support HDMI output?

Stock ROM, or any ROM based on stock. It needs the Samsung framework. So nothing that is pure AOSP (such as CM or MIUI) will work. If you want a ROM that is as close to AOSP as possible that still supports the MHL adapter, try GingerMOD.

See above, but there are many others. I don't personally use any of them (I'm still on stock, rooted, modded myself), so I can't recommend one above any others. It's a personal preference anyways, so you should just try some and decide yourself.

[Q] questions about root and CMW

I have experience with rooting HTC devices and the HP touchpad, but i am a complete samsung noob. Things seem to work completely different with recovery on the this phone. I managed to get cwm recovery on the phone by flashing the entropy kernal (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289460); however, it also says this is for gingerbread non-aosp roms only. Does that mean the CWM will not flash an ICS rom such as ICScrewed?
I am just generally confused cause on my other devices, kernals were always flashed using CMW, not the other way around. If someone can clear this up that would be amazing. I tried searching and looking in the stickies but i still can't find the info im looking for. thanks.
ICScrewed is not an ICS rom, its just themed that way.
We do not have working ICS yet, check the sticky.
You can flash one but audio will not work.

o ok, thanks. thats clears that part up thanks. I'm doing this for a friend but it turned out to be much more hassle than i was expecting. So any rom suggestions? I don't like the idea of pretending to have ICS much. I'm looking for a rom that's debloated, faster, more battery life, and has some visual polish. I'm not a huge fan of the stock touchwiz look.
UnNamed and ShoStock have a few themes and are by far the most stable I know of.
Or you can check i9100 roms and port them over or grab one that already is ported.
Read the Sticky thread thats in the General Section.

Which custom rom to use?

I was wondering if someone can tell me for which rom to go. There seem to be many along with CM for this tablet so I am not sure which to use. The tablet comes with 2.2 loaded on mine and thats pretty useless since one of the main uses will be Skype. But I have read that it can be upgraded to 2.3 which support switching cameras so it will be useful with skype.
Thats what I want from the rom too at least. Just be able to work with skype. Can anyone suggest me a rom to use or should I just stay on the official rom after upgraded and just root it?

Thank you very much for the replies The phone is a european one (I think) build number is FROYO.XXKD6. So I should stick to 2.3 for now I guess. Thanks again for the help guys!
It would also help if you told us whether you had the 4.0 or 5.0 version of the player as ROMs are dependent on which player you have and whether there international or US versions.

Any rom developed for GPS 5.0 should work. Just make sure you load the INT kernel.
As none of the ICS builds have the camera thing worked out yet, your best bet is to stay with GB custom roms.
I have both INT and US GPS 5.0 with Eryigit 3.5 roms. It's smooth and stable.
Have fun with your player.
Thanks cvcduty I will go with Eryigit for starters. I do not want it to do crazy things or play any high end 3d games, afar from skype some games would be nice but I want it mainly to read and get on skype. I hope I can install the modded roms without updating it through kies first.. because no matter what I did Kies can't detect it.

You would want kies just for the drivers so your pc can detect the player when you connect it via usb. That would be the only reason you need to load kies software. If you find the right drivers by other means, you really don't need to load kies at all. Matter of fact, I have loaded custom GB roms on players straight out of the box. These players had Froyo from factory.
No need to update your player to factory GB in order to flash custom GB.
If you are having issues with kies, try uninstalling and then reinstalling. You need the driver from that app in order for Odin to detect your player. Once that is done, locate your selected rom in the "pda" area inside Odin and flash. 5 mins to flash and reboot and you are done. Your first boot might take a while so be patient.
Good luck.
For now I am looking for Odin. Lol it can't be so hard to find it since it will be in these forums. Is the latest version 1.85? Also do I have to install the Kernel too or its inside the modded rom? Do I just run odin and choose the rom and install?

there may be newer but 1.85 is KNOWN to work without issue, so best to use it.
It worked like a charm! Very smooth and fast rooting, Odin seems like a great tool to use although the part of having to use certain versions of it for certain devices is a bit complicated. After searching a bit around I understand what you mean that later version might not work as well.
Well I will be sticking to Erygit probably until an ICS rom with camera support appears, if it will. Thanks again everyone for all the help

Custom ROM with HDMI support

This is not a thread for asking about the best rom out there for this phone, but i need help finding a custom ROM that works with my problem.
So i got a motorola Razr xt910 with a broken lcd screen(not turning on) and a non functional touchscreen. Everything else works fine(tested it all day long).
The phone is stock 4.1.2 and i managed to do a fresh flash via rsd lite and fastboot. I can use the phone with a HDMI cable and a usb otg cable. Thats realy the only way for me right now to use it and if that feature wouldn't work the phone would be completly useless for a while.
So what custom roms have a working hdmi out? And how can i flash a non stock rom without seeing the screen or using the touchscreen?
I got my eyes on the MIUI Rom and hope i could flash that rom. All help is welcome thanks!
To my knowledge, there aren't any non-stock based roms that have HDMI support. A lot of devs are working on it, but it has something to do with the source code not being available from Motorola. Also, I do not believe you can use HDMI out in recovery (safestrap). You can root it, debloat it, and install a cool launcher. Even if you wanted to use a stock-based "custom" rom, like Eclipse, I don't think you will be able to install it without being able to see and use the device's screen.

Thats too bad :/
So the only thing i can do is root it and install one of those launchers from the market right?
I might give it a try :highfive:
Well iam trying to root it right now and using this(@TheRazrGuy) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mOIcBLffYE&feature=youtu.be tutorial, but as you can see i can't us the otg cable and connect it to the pc at the same time! I kinda have to use the screen :/
Is there any other way of rooting it?
Edit: Phone is rooted. When connecting to the server the phone doesn't need to be connected via usb. I unplugged it and plugged in the otg cable with mouse and connected to the server then plugged it back into the computer and continued on the computer. It worked! Superuser is working and iam now using the miui launcher
Glad to hear it. Just be careful if you decide to debloat. I would recommend using something like titanium backup and freezing the apps, over deleting them. (I don't mean to presume that you don't already know this.) I bricked my Fascinate more times than I can remember, deleting the wrong system apps.

Nah, a fresh install with a Miui launcher is enough at the moment. I will wait until i get a new screen to replace the old one, before doing anything.

Why is that? Not even the stock-based roms? Is it realy that hard to make it work?
(thanks )
To clarify, when most people say "custom", they are referring to roms like Cyanogenmod, etc., that are complete rewrites of the AOSP, designed for a particular device. Stock-based roms use a device's original operating system. Essentially, a custom rom is built independent of any device, and then adapted to each device. A stock-based is taken from the device, and modified while retaining the original OS designed for the phone. So, the HDMI support is just one of those features that hasn't been duplicated by a custom developer. It's simply utilized by the developers that build on what's already written.
If anyone feels I was incorrect, please set me straight!

Both are good,100% functional with good battery time...
About the kernels,it doesn´t matter when you flash it,before or after. If you have GSM Razr on EU JB stock, then you don´t have to flash the kernel because you already have it.
Btw,14 is for EU,17 is for Latam.
Personally,I use BMM,it gives you possibility to have 6 roms at the same time.It means that you can have your stock intact and another rom installed on System 2 or 3 or 4...
System 2 is the webtop partition, systems 3-6 are virtual slots.
Here are some video tutorials how to use BMM and Safestrap.

[Q] Re-romming a Vibrant after 2+ years

I pulled my old Vibrant out of a box and thought I'd try to run a newer version on android on it, but I haven't been about to make heads or tails of the development forum. After 3+ hours of fiddling and 3 or 4 programs downloaded, I'm at a loss. The phone currently has Bali kernel and Bionix-V FishmanMod which I loaded on it in 2011 or 2012 and have no recollection of what I did. :silly:
I think my questions are:
Do I need to revert to stock? Because odin refuses to recognize my phone in download mode. It sees it fine when it is booted normally.
Otherwise, what do I need to do to update the kernel and put kit kat on the phone?
If there's anybody out there, thanks and I tried really really hard and I'm just really confused.
I think it would be best for you to go back to stock first.
1. Make sure that your drivers are properly installed
2. Try different usb ports, reboot computer/phone, different usb cable if Odin won't recognise the phone.
Honestly, going back to stock won't help much. Install a JB rom and or kernel and from there install a kitkat kernel then rom. In that order. Make sure you wipe data and cache completely to make sure there isn't any problems.
