Get stock MMS.apk - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm surprised nobody has asked this! I tried out jellybeans rom and one thing I absolutely love on it is the stock mms app, but I can't put cleanrom down, its way too good! I'm trying to extract the MMS.apk from jellybeans but so far no luck finding the file. Any advice? The first thing I noticed when I got the Note 2 was how far behind the MMS app was in terms of looks and really just the fact that it only shows 3 messages at a time. Odd. But if I find a solution I'll post back.
Edit. Found it, its in jellybeans zip at /default/aomms but there is a framework.jar file I dont know where to put. And its missing secmms.apk.

Well guys I found the solution use the mms from the galaxy s3 jellybean thread and use xposed to make it 240 dpi.

Yeah dude I wasn't getting the Samsung messaging app either. I tried Jelly Beans ROM like you did and was happy to see it but like you Clean ROM is just too amazing. I may have to try this out but for now handcent is working well enough for me. Thanks for posting!

Blurry mms FIXED for 2.2 TouchWiz Mms.apk

This is not the CM6 AOSP mms app. This is the stock TouchWiz Mms.apk. I just edited a couple files and the blurry mms issue is now fixed.
Not sure if this has been posted yet, but if not, then please, try it and enjoy.
Just flash the flashable.zip through clockwork and reboot.
This was built for ur Ov3, Correct ?

I have a modified aosp mms.apk in obsidian v3 right now. But this apk is the stock touchwiz mms that comes with our phone. However, I fixed it so there is no more blurry mms issue that all 2.2 roms have been experiencing.

Do I have to remove the AOSP MMS app from Obsidian V3 before flasing this?

No, when you flash this, it will replace it automatically.
^^ Thanks. As soon as booted back after the flash, battery dropped from 40% to 5%. Weird. but MMS works perfect and the TW MMS app is much better looking. Thanks Sombionix.

love the cm messaging app (i hate everything touchwiz lol). but it wasnt resizing my images for me. lemme know if theres a fix around for this please.
i flashed this one over for the time being and its working beautifully *Edit: App is working perfectly but it keeps forcing airplane mode*
first off, thank you som for fixing/adding this app, i hated the other messaging app and love the twiz one. thank you.
but one question, do you know why there is no smiley key in messaging like there was in eclair? there is a pointless enter button instead. in talk and voice, the smiley button is still there, it is silly, but i use it a lot, and would really love it back in messaging. any way to make that happen?
Worked just like u said, I mess the little green messaging icon tho, I guess u cant have ur cake and ice cream and eat it too.

Doubt this would be app related at all. I've been using the exact same mms.apk I posted here all day and haven't had any issues at all.

ok. cool. ill try reflashing and then do a few reboots. ill post results. thanx in advance
*EDIT: flashed it over gave me the airplane mode toggle but after 2 reboots it disappeared* working pefectly and i can actually send pics now, lol. thanx again Som
Will this be replacing AOSP mms.apk that is in V3 in the next release?
Ok i would love this if it fixed the "error in server response" issue. Im still running the original upload of Stock 2.2 only because I dont have home internet. Anyway..the only app that works is the CM6 version. I dont know if its something inside the apk itself but ive tried every APN possible and they all work with cm6 and none work with TW MMS. I love the TW but I dont know what it is with my phone and the TW MMs but Ive never had the blurry issue... Any ideas?
Thanks. This worked for me. Much better now.

[Q] Can I replace dialer & contacts apk on stock-touchwiz ICS

Hi i would like to know if I can replace touchwiz stock dialer and contacts apk with the one in the AOKP ICS, I was trying both and found out that in the contacts app in touchwiz there are low res contact pictures and on the AOKP no, I liked in overall the toucwiz ics more than google stock.
Can I just replace both contacts.apk and phone.apk with the ones on AOKP using root explorer?
nevermind I found out that they are different frameworks, I do really like almost everything about samsung ics rom, wish I could change that contact and phone apk.
You can use a different dialer from the market probably.
I am going to look for alternatives, cause 2 apps in my dock for calls isn't what I want.
go contacts ex works just great.
Get ex dialer and the pics theme. That's what I'm using with phone bricker and its a perfect fit.
thanks man. I had spent quite a bit of time trying to find out how to get the dialer to work after flashing inverted gapps.
I'm waiting to check out v2 of this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552852
It says in the changelog he already ported AOKP system apps incl. Contacts and Phone, but in the thread he says he needs to fix some things and it will actually be for v.2.
Id like to know the answer to thus as well

Trebuchet launcher works great on TW ROMs, so if we could import AOSP Phone, MMS, and Contacts, it would be perfect. Calendar works as does the camera apk, so those aren't necessary to modify or anything. I've tried for hours to get the other apps working but to no avail. If I find some way to get them working, I'll let you guys know, but I'm happy with CM9 and AOKP at the moment. I might make a nandroid backup and try again tonight, though.
exdialer with ics theme works pretty well
Its not the same i wasn't impressed with exdialer

I tried that (used TB to extract it from a Nandroid back up), but i continued to get the same error.
I finally bit the bullet and did an advanced Nandroid restore and just restored the "system"
That worked.
Also decided to try the EX dialer. Love the interface. Much nicer than the stock LPG one! Faster to get the job done.
Did u push them to /system, set permissions, then reboot?

[Q] Stock ICS MMS.apk?

I've flashed around a bit with different roms and as much as I enjoy touchwiz, I love the stock mms app that comes in AOKP/ vanilla android ICS and was just wondering if anyone had made any type of universal port for touchwiz roms that work just as smoothly? Saw a couple on the play store but they were total rubbish and full of bugs. gonna stay on AOKP in the meantime. Just curious if anyone else shared the thought

I did see that but I read the actual ability to receive and download MMS is broken in it. And I'm not knocking the Samsung mms, I just personally prefer the overall UI and feel of the stock 4.0 one. Sammys is great though.

That's the problem. Even if you get a compatible full asop mms, you have to keep the default samsung app. If you delete it, it will cause problems and FCs.

Thank you phalanx, I hadn't realized serendipity incorporated aosp apps into touchwiz. That does further spark my curiosity as to if It's possible to pull the AOSP mms app as a stand alone apk that I could keep and install no matter what ROM I switch to since serendipity makes it seem possible if I just disable the stock mms app.

Simple way would be to change your pngs in your drawable-hdpi folder and change some xmls as well, not really all that difficult once you get started
Edit: sorry, completely forgot that Samsung's has text bubbles, so it would get a little trickier, I'll look into it
Edit: So, I've been real busy with school and stuff, so I haven't been able to look at the apk. Also, I don't have a Samsung Mms.apk since I like the AOSP feel of ICS better and have been on AOKP since it came out. So in trying to find a Samsung Mms.apk in our dev threads, I found that Serendipity 9 has an AOSP Mms.apk in it and is TW-based. It also has a lot of other AOSP apks in it, and it looks nice and runs pretty well. (flashed it to see everything first-hand). That might be an answer

I try to keep the system as functional as possible but remove as much as possible. This may or may not cause instability using certain functions. Flash at your own risk.
Know issues: VZW Backup Assistant Plus in Settings causes a FC. ill try to get it out of there.
Basics
4.1.1 Stock Rooted Deodex Debloated
3.0.36 Perseus Kernel Alpha28
Some AOSP Theme, black status bar
Wifi notification gone, WIFI TOGGLE ADDED. finally
Wifi Tether works, may add toggle to status bar
Many UI noises removed including camera(reboot may be required for ringtones to show, also, camera noises are required by law in some states. check your nearest map if you dont know what state youre in)
some Cyanogenmod alerts and rings
removed live wall papers, boot animation
other things
YOU MUST BE ROOTED WITH AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER AND RECOVERY. FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK
IF IN TWRP, WIPE DATA/CACHE/SYSTEM, FACTORY RESET, INSTALL FILE, REBOOT, ENJOY
IF CWM, LET ME KNOW, HAVENT TRIED IT FOR THIS YET

On any modern device, there is no advantage to being Odexed outside of a slightly faster initial boot time, and a little saved storage space. It will give you no added performance benefit after the first boot.

This was the first ROM I flashed to my note II. It worked very well. It was missing some key features like Mail and Google talk. I ended up going back to my stock backup.
I just lost patience with pulling the apps from titanium backup application. I may come back to this ROM after I have played with some of the others.
Thank you, OP for this ROM. I really like it, a lot. Coming from Gnex and AOSP ROMs, for a long time (since eclair). Great job. Just what I was looking for.
Shelooga, everything's working fine. Have android notifications, but not ringtones. Downloaded ringtones from another xda thread but get an error message when trying to add any of them. Any ideas appreciated.

[Q] aosp messaging

so i've searched around the att lgog, nexus 4, and the canada/intl lgog forums and cant seem to find anything about an aosp with emoji support for mms. i've found a dark themed mms app and was able to flash it but it doesnt support emojis, and the 4.1.2 stock doesnt have it and renames the mms app from lgmms3.apk to messagebin.apk so i cant get other aosp mms apps to work either. anyone have a compatible app flashable or apk that will work on 4.1.2 and give me emojis? i'm really loving the 4.1.2 rom and dont wanna switch to something else at the moment

Try this.
I had a working one, I believe it was this one. (not sure, I had followed an external link for mine, somebody posted it outside of XDA).
Worked fine, but I missed some of the stuff from the LG stock app.
Actually, if you are on JB, try THIS one, it is for JB and has more features.
I haven't used this one, but it is by the same user... so it should work.
