Take it back to store. This should NOT happen unless they have sold you a DX piece which has defects or the battery has defects. Go back!!

I don't see how a slow phone is covered by warranty.
You should do a factory reset.

May be you should install task managing applications from play store. Try this "Advanced Task Killer"

Task managers are bad for the device, never use them.

Problem with phone restarting =/

Starting like 2 months ago my x10 began freezing for about 3 seconds, while making a loud humming noise, and after following this 3 second period will shut itself off and restart. It has been getting gradually worse, usually only happens while playing games, installing apps, watching videos etc.... I have flashed multiple different ROMS, have tried reinstalling 2.1 again with SEUS with no avail. I have called SE and if I ship it in won't have my phone for 3 weeks....dont want that. Any suggestions please help!!
Did you get your phone from the carrier? If so, they might be able to replace it for you right there in front of you. They did that for me and I was for ATT. But mine was under warranty.
That's if you want to replace it.

sounds like a hardware problem to me
actually i had the exact problem when i was using Jerpelea's CM7.0.3 J020c K010
and it froze with a humming sound for about 2 seconds then reboot. This has only happened to me once and that was when the battery was very low and i was using it very heavily.
How do you use the phone??
Because i think this is due to too much things running at the same time and the phone not being able to cope with it, in other words the phone OS not responding
Also how many times has it happened to you????
Do you use the phone heavily???
after being on the phone for about 5 minutes, playing a game for about 15-20 or watching videos for 15 minutes the phone will restart almost everytime. It has done it on 2.2 i just installed yesterday, on eminence 2.1 ROM, and on 2.1 Generic, and also the regular firmware updated bu SEUS, so i don't think it is firmware, probably hardware i guess =/

I had to go to the repair center of ATT to get my phone which there are like five in the country, but what makes me wonder is why ATT doesn't have a record of you buying the phone. Did you get it from somewhere else or from a friend?

I had a broken iphone before, we didnt want to sign a new contract so we just bought the phone outright at the store, and I also purchased the insurance incase something like this happened. It kind of irritates me that they don't have record of that either.
hey next time the phone reboots, take the battery out and give it a smell. Does it smell like burning?? If so means the motherboard is burnt

Man, that's a bummer. If you could go bring this issue up to the high end part of customer service and win that would be nice and get a new phone since its still under warranty. Wish I could help you out. I know what a broken phone is like. Mine fried itself and that didn't make my day. I hope someone here can find a solution for you or your phone gets replaced.

This is literally the stock setting of your phone and will not likely help you at all. Does the phone feel hot when this happens? If so its a faulty board and it will need to be replaced. If you purchased insurance and pay for it on your bill they will fix it. I have had AT&T replace a phone I didn't even have insurance for because I had insurance on another of the same phone. They are usually very good with those things and it gets taken care of relatively quickly.

Yeah it feels hot when it restarts. Once in a while I have to take the battery out and let it cool for it to come back on.
It sounds extremely likely that your motherboard is knackered. You can use the phone until a ‘trip’ temperature is reached when the phone will reboot and you can’t use it until it has cooled down. This happened to me. I installed battery monitor widget and set the refresh option to the minimum time to see what temperature mine rebooted at. For me it was 38 degrees C. As I did not have a warranty either I put my phone back to stock and sent it off to a recycling site and got the full value. I also have become extremely disillusioned with SE and will not by another phone from them. Mind you looking at their range it has, imho, been left behind by HTC, Samsung, Moto and even LG.
Same problem here like dnerve.Never flashed my phone or something like that , I only used SEUS.For half a month i think the phone is getting worse and worse. No offence but from my side it's the terrible investment in my life.I answer the phone , talking for 22 seconds bzzzzzzzzzzzz restart.I listen to a song for 30 sec to 1 min bzzzzzzzzzzzzz restart.I make 2-3 pictures bzzzzzzzzzzzzz restart.I put it to charge for 10 min bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz closes(doesn't restart , rarely). From my opinion this phone doesn't make it's money. When i bought it almost a year ago i payed around 544 euro from Wien , Austria. When you pay that amount of money , you have some expectations from it.I can't believe that there so many problems with a phone that is so expensive.

[Q]My s2 powered off it self

the phone powered off it self until i pressed the power button to turn on again. i noticed this often happened when i put in my pocket for a while. but when i put it on table over night it didn't happen.
roms that i tried that had the same problem:
batista 3.7++
lightening 3+,6+
cognition 1.4+
apps that i tried uninstalled but no avail:
-setcpu
-daemon control(batista rom)
-juice defender
is it due to motherboard issue? appreciate your advice. thanks.

thanks, yes, i in fact wiped all and even install stock rom before any mod roms. and i also changed few kernels(stock, nipo, CF..)but still the same..
now trying to use kh4 stock rom and see..
So the this issue s only occurring when the phone is in your pocket and never when out of your pocket.
this happens to my Phone as well.. its kinda random...
sometimes when am listening to music and sometimes when its just on standby
for example it just restarted which reminded me to search for this error...
few days ago it was on standby and had shut itself down and the battery was completely drained after 5 hours without anything on.

yes, found it only happens when putting in my pocket. when charging over night or putting on my work desk, it didn't happen.
and yes, it happened few times when it turned off it self, it lost about 10% to 20% battery in just few minutes... the phone was warm when it happened. that was why i took out to check and found it already powered off..

I would try a stock ROM for a week, just to be safe (no apps/tweaks/kernel, etc., really stock). I'm pretty sure a recent stock ROM will not give you issues, I would not worry about the hardware.

thanks for your advice, will try stock rom then
Ya, do that... just to see what is going on.
More on the technical side, the screen needs minimum 500Mhz to get out of Sleep Mode. Some custom Rom's use a low voltage or "underclock" feature that reduces the power consumption but also the number of CPU steps. That is what makes your phone crash and reboot randomly.
Once you put the stock ROM, do a sdcard wipe (if you use one), just to be safe. It should take several hours, so do it over the night. Personally I would not use an external sdcard during the one week test, just be sure.
You could also have a RAM (hardware) issue, ya. But 99% of the time is related to software. Bad memory degrades fast so you will see your random reboots pop at a faster frequency. If you did all the above and still experience random reboots, run adb logcat to see what is going on at that specific moment. If you get error codes like:
Code:
code 1 (SEGV_MAPERR), fault addr 00000000
you are dealing with bad memory unfortunately and need to service your phone.

I also heard that some people had bad battery contacts on their S2. Clean them with some audio head tape cleaner and cotton swabs, than make sure the contacts are proper... it should eliminate this possibility. In a way, it makes sense since you move a lot with your phone in your pocket.
Edit: I just clicked on Thank You button for your OP, instead of Quote.

is there a guide on how to install Stock ROM back on? cant find any...
how can i root my sgs2...?
it also happened to my phone. so i brought it back to the store where i purchased it and told them that it was shutting down randomly when i put it in my pocket. after 15 days of waiting i called them for follow up because they told me it will take 7-10 working days. they told me that the phone never shut down in the service center. what can i do about it? i don't know how to flash or root. this is my first android phone.
I have finally found a solution... installed XXKH3 FW stock, not rooted yet, and installed an application from the android market called Load Monitor
Code:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.landak.loadmon
and enabled only Add Notifications, only notify high load, autostart and only screen on... seems to do the job, no battery drainage and most of all NO SOD (Sleep Of Death) or restarts anymore
If you still have problems try checkin wake lock from the options of the app...
Hope it helps

The phone did not rebooted in their store because they did not move it, you have a bad battery contact that can be fixed easy.

For freezing and crashing, I would say update your phone.. My 2.3.3 version crashed alot and after the update to 2.3.4, It never crashed. The phone starting crashing again after updating to 2.3.5. I am not sure though but it's how my phone was.
About the gps thing, had same experience so I contacted Samsung. They said that first make sure that Google Navigation is available in your area. Since I am in GCC, it was not available. They told me to get a third party app for navigation and then turn on the GPS and stood still under clear sky for about 15 minutes. It will take 15 minutes for the initial setup only. Once it's locked, it will start working in seconds when you lunch the app with GPS on. The GPS will reset back if not used for long period and you have to do the setup again.

[Q] Exchanging defective Note tomorrow - What is the best way to restore?

Hi all,
I have a defective Note (charger/battery acting up). I want to exchange it tomorrow.
Currently, I have installed apps, emails, etc on the phone. What is the best way for me to restore it to defaults (factory settings) without connecting to the computer?
I've been looking around the settings option and I can't find anything.
Will I have to use Odin to restore?
This phone has never been rooted or anything like that.
Thanks!

Oh damn.. sorry to hear that. I actually rooted it right now just for testing it. Unfortunately, I was unable to UNroot .. but I've uninstalled Superuser which I think I'll be safe when it will be replaced.
This note works perfectly in terms of speed and those stuff. It is just the charger + battery. I probably think its connected. First the charger, when you plug in the wall, it won't charge. You have to unplug-replug for about 10 times and it will charge. With regards to battery. It does not even last 8 hours (7 hours idle - 1 hours of LIGHT use). You can use it 1.5 hours straight of light use before it asks you to replug it to the wall. So yeah .. its either Charger or Battery.
Wish me luck
i may be having the same issue

Several problems with Xperia Sola

Hello,
1. Thank you very much for being so helpful
2. I am very new to Android, so please refer me to the definition of the word you used if it has some sort of special Android meaning (even rooting, since I'm not 100% sure I understood what it means)
3. My problems are as follows:
A. The battery runs out really fast. is there a way to: 1. Stop applications who came with the phone from starting and restarting automatically after I close them without me using them? 2. make the battery last longer? (not talking about closing Wi-Fi when not using and stuff like that)
B. The sound is really weak when I try to hear music with headphones. I saw someone recommending using AC!DAudio but that requires rooting. I am afraid to do that since I don't understand anything about it and since in Sola, rooting requires unlocking bootloader and Sony stated on their site that it will remove responsibility. Is there any way to increase the audio without rooting? or a way to "install" AC!DAudio without rooting?
C. I saw online that it is possible to find you're phone if the GPS is on. I tryed leaving it on, and without using my device at all the battery lost 25% after only an hour an a half. Is there anyway to leave the GPS on without wasting that much battery? or a recommend way to find my phone that takes less battery?
D. Charging takes a really long time. Is there any way to change that?
Phone is as it came from the box. Didn't update or change anything (besides allowing unknown sources for applications and installing several applications).
I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong place or broke any rules, please tell me if I did since I wouldn't know since I'm new here,
Thank you all very much again,
opeller
Hi, i dont know why you got so many problems (some of them strange like loosing 25 % of the battery), but:
1. You can do a hard reset to refresh the device, may be something is torturing it. That will remove a program, which can cause this battery behavior.
2. Stopping applications is a no no, because it can cause the phone to work slow and waste more battery. Android is made that way, to have images of some app in its memory to start apps faster.
3. The other thing in my mind is if you battery is wrong, you can try a service center too. They can measure the capacity and tell if its ok.

first, thank you for you're replay
1. how do I do that? does it involve any risks? (I don't mind loosing applications I have on the phone, I can just redownload them. nothing else I need there except for the phone list which is on the sim card )
2. are you sure? since I saw some on the runnig applications list that I didn't need. for example, I finished watching a video and MXplayer, which I used to watch it, was still there. I didn't need it until the next day. It took some ram (maybe it was like 30 but with a device who has 512 and always has at least half of it used for system stuff, it is quiet a lot) so I closed it so it wouldn't slow down my phone down an wouldn't take some of the battery. Is closing stuff from the running applications list really is bad? can it harm anything? are my reasons not ok?
3. That is an option too. I do hope it isn't since this device is only 2 weeks old. Is this not a problem all Sola users face?
thank you again,

1. No risk mate, hard reset is an option in the phone, it erases apps and returns the phone in new condition, like when it was bought. I think it is in restore&back ups, look in this menu personal data/erase. Click on it and on the next screen you must tick erase again and voila.
2. Using the RAM is not bad mate, dont worry. In the past i had a task killer and the phone was not better.
3. Many users who upgraded to ICS facing something like this - battery lasts less than in Gingerbread, nut what you mentioned above "25 % in hour and a half" - its strange imo mate.

3. This happend only today, when I left the GPS on. The phone was also very hot when I cheked and saw it lost 25% after an hour and a half, but I was in a cool place. Today was the first time it happend. I'll see if it happens again tomorrow, when I'll leave the GPS off.
4. I see that you use Sola two. How did you get around the low volume when hearing music problem?
BTW I saw people complaining that the volume is low when talking on the phone. I do not hace this problem. Talking on the phone is just fine, but when hearing music the volume is very low.

I flashed custom roms, thats it.
I'm in this position too, I've tried everything trying to fix the battery drain and am definitely going to buy a new phone in the new year. In the meantime, has anyone found anything to help? I've done all the usual things, minimum brightness, remove many internet apps, use power management, airplane mode at night, reinstall latest upgrade...
Also, I want to raise the volume throughout the phone also, I've tried a few custom ROMS and found *NO* difference whatsoever...
