S-off with HBOOT 1.49.0018 - HTC EVO 3D

My Device is with HBOOT 1.49.0018 unlocked through HTC Dev, with 4EXT recovery and rooted LeeDrOiD_3D_V5.4-Final-GB. I want to make S-Off because ICS roms are not working (after flashing the rom and rebooting the device nothing happens). If i want to use the Revolutionary Tool i have to downgrade the HBoot to 1.49.0008, the other way is the wire trick, which I think I could not do because the device is unlocked through HTC Dev.
My question is do I have any options except downgrading the HBOOT and if not - which method would be better for me. Is it safe to downgrade or something can go wrong?
Thank you in advance!

I personally would recommend the downgrade method. Flashmaniac's tool worked flawlessly for me. You can also do the wire trick, unlocking with htcdev doesnt make a difference. As always when you are flashing something on your phone theres a risk of things going wrong. Just read through the post and get to know what you are about to do before attempting it.
If you are attempting the downgrade method do make sure you have one of the CID's in the list

[Q] restoring stock

Quick question, I achieved s-off the old fashion way by downgrading the bootloader, not revolutionary and I now have to flash the phone to unrooted stock and make sure it can receive OTA's.
I don't really care if the old s-off bootloader stays I'm on the 1.48.2000 bootloader with S-OFF
It seems to me that since the whole point of S-OFF is that it will now flash anything I can simply flash a stock RUU and be done with it, or will it cause issues.
I read in this thread that you could
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310014
But it's in the section for if you achieved s-off the revolutionary way.
Any thoughts? thanks.

[Q] Get bootloader unlocked and I already have S-OFF

Hey! A while ago I rooted my phone using the revolutionary method. Later I reverted back to stock and locked the bootloader. However the S-OFF remained. A few minutes ago I had 1.53 HBOOT and ICS stock. But now I got HBOOT 1.49.0007 and I wanna use revolutionary tool to unlock bootloader yet again. But now it gives me an error saying, "Failed to get root! "
Is there another way to get rooted WITHOUT using the HTC method since I already got S-OFF and 1.49.0007 HBOOT? I don't feel comfortable using HTC's method....

I think the "Failed to get root!" message is because HTC patched the tacoroot exploit in the ICS builds that was being used for temp root with the GB builds.
Why do you want to unlock the bootloader? If you want to run the additional fastboot commands you should be able to just flash the JBear version of the current bootloader, or does that cause problems on the GSM model?

Since you are S-OFF you can flash whatever bootloader you want. I don't know revolutionary method, I was using jbear to get S-OFF. After S-OFF i flashed RUU and I was on stock 1.53.007 locked bootloader with S-OFF and i couldn't root my phone. I've flashed hboot from this site:
http://unlimited.io/jbhboots.htm
There you have 2 versions of GSM Evo 3d hboots. After that you can do everything with your phone. Good luck!

I contacted unlimited.io's support in the IRC and downloaded the ICS HBOOT - 1.53.5353 and flashed that. Now it seemes to work!
Anyway, thanks for your answer! If they wouldn't have responded then you would have been my savior!
Okay, problem number two.... I have flashed CWM now and I installed Super User inside recovery mode but I don't get root access? I downloaded the signed package from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991929
Any ideas?
I have tried to repair premissions after the install of Super User. I have also updates Super User from Market after Install due to force close after the fresh install from CWM

Follow method B (steps 1 to 14 if you want to be on rooted stock) and it should be ok. If I remember correctly, there is a 4ext recovery to download, maybe try this one. Good luck!

Tried downgrading hboot to 1.49.0007

Ok, so i wanted to downgrade my hboot so i can get s-off using revolutionary's method.
I followed exactly the same steps listed on this website http://htcevohacks.com/htc-evo-3d-hacks/how-to-downgrade-to-hboot-1-49-0007-on-htc-evo-3d-gsm/ (You might already know this guy) and it didn't went really good to be honest..
It didn't downgrade my hboot and atm my phone is Relocked and i have no clue how to unlock it as it was before. Because of that i can't exit out of bootloader nor go to recovery.
Looking forward to your suggestions (My device was rooted and unlocked before i did this and i had hboot 1.53.0007)
Thats actually flashmaniacs tool which doesnt downgrade 1.53 hboot. your only option is to do the wire trick. follow the steps on this thread:

[Q] Error 131 on RUU Flash after HBOOT Downgrade

I recently bought my new Evo 3D from eBay. As far as I can tell, it is in perfect shape. I was hoping to flash it to Page Plus and was dismayed when I realized how impossible the rooting process looked. I began with downgrading my 1.58 HBOOT to 1.40. Now I am attempting to flash the 1.13 RUU so I can finally move on in this process, but every time I attempt to flash it (or any other RUU), I get the error, "Error [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR." Now most fastboot commands do not work, and my phone bootloops with the stock ROM. Any idea how to fix it?
I used the juopunut bear wire trick for s-off so excuse me if I'm a little ignorant here with the downgrade method. Once you are down to hboot 1.40 (which sounds like you were successful with) can't you use the revolutionary s-off tool?
Once s-off you can easily run any ruu but I guess I don't understand why you need to downgrade even further to s-off, when revolutionary (I thought) works with hboot 1.40 and 1.30

As I understand I can't use Revolutionary without booting into Android (since it needs ADB), which is currently impossible because of the bootloop.
I should also point out that HTCDev unlock fails for me. On hboot 1.58 the fastboot commands are successful, but I am never presented with the unlock dialog on the phone. On hboot 1.4 most fastboot commands fail. Also, I can easily restore to stock by flashing a PG86IMG which includes hboot 1.58.

So far, in every case I've seen, running the latest RUU has solved the bootloader unlock issue for people. I would run the 1.58 RUU and see if you can unlock the bootloader. Then go from there.
Or as I saw mentioned in the other thread, use the PG86IMG version of the RUU or extract it yourself from the exe. Flashing through the bootloader does not perform a cid check.

So far, I have yet to have any success despite flashing many RUUs. I took a break for quite a while, but decided I may try again. I am downloading now the 2.08 RUU, which one thread suggested.

If I remember correctly, the HTCDev unlock doesnt work for the earlier bootloaders. It says so on the very first page when its walking you through the steps. I could be wrong but you may wanna keep that in mind

Confusing result after RUU

In an effort to upgrade bootloader and software to be compatible with cm11.. I used vipeRUU to go from 1.12 bootloader to 2.09 bootloader with the 3.17.651.471 software, whats confusing me is bootloader still says ..Unlocked ..and S-off after running ruu ..bootloader has changed and so has the software... (i was Previously s-off via Lazy panda).. i was under the impression that this would un root and lock bootloader again.. i know that i now have lost root i know how to check that .. question is , is bootloader locked now as well?..tried rumrunner and moonshine to no avail, to get S-OFF .. and it needs to be unlocked for those exploits to work.. any ideas?
It will lock your bootloader and return the phone S-on if you chose those options in the menu when you first ran VipeRUU. If you're still S-off, then all you need to do is unlock the bootloader again unless it's showing unlocked. An easier route than what you chose would have been to update your Hboot to the Rumrunner Hboot, which takes less than a minute to do. You'll still need to update your firmware, since VipeRUU is a version behind what's currently out there. If you're S-on now, you'll need to unlock the bootloader and run Moonshine.
