few days ago, my tablet experiences system ui failure/error and right then today my tablet immediately restarts itself after entering the home screen. so im guessing that its not a bootloop right since i can see the lockscreen and stuffs but it just restarts immediately repeating the whole process until forever. any form of directions or suggestions is greatly appreciated. btw i still havent tried doing adb pull and stuffs. so please go easy on me

I have only come across this issue while editing the build.prop! You might need to re-install your firmware or maybe a factory reset will fix it.
This did happen to me twice before, looks like that something is interfering with the System UI and the System Server causing the device to crash, I managed to get out of that loop with a force power off.
Unfortunately the bug is so bad that the wallpaper gets reset to the default Sony wallpaper.
So how to break the System UI and System Server loop bug?, press and hold the power button.
I have found alot of errors with the OS which can be interesting or just plain bad.

Yeah this happens to me too. I leave it and come back to it shut down and it won't turn on at all. Using a paper clip to reset it got it back. Luckily this only happened once to mine.
I have the case same to u, final I need sent back to factory to re flash the rom

Hey this happened to me too. It was caused by an app which i had recently installed. Do not get impatient. Leave the tablet for a few minutes after the boot sequence has completed. Let the startup applications initialize. Then uninstall a few apps u have installed just before this problem started. I did it using android assistant. And my problem was solved.

Did it again kind of yesterday when I was not touching it, the system service crashed to the boot animation causing a longer or never ending boot so I had to force it to power off. :/

I'm having a weird problem where my 3G toggle widget has become invisible and I can't remove it from the home screen. It happened last night and it showed back up after I rebooted. I left it like that but it disappeared again, I've tried rebooting a few times but it is still not showing up
This is very annoying because now there is one empty space on my homescreen I can't do anything with!? I've tried googling for solutions but havent found anything useful?
Anyone got any ideas?
Have you tried setting it to 3g only, then rebooting? Maybe it disappears if you're on 4g?

Nope didnt work. I 'm using the international Razr anyway so no 4G.
I tried installing an app called Elixir because apparently it lets you delete 'Zombie Widgets' but thats not helping either, it doesnt seem to detect that there is anything wrong.
I had the same problem amongst others, black splotches on the screen, the only way i found to remedy this was a factory reset, got on my nerves so ive sent it back, another problem i had was the screen would freeze when plugged in, their sending me a new one now.

I'm tempted to do a factory reset because I've been looking for a solution for hours with nothing working. I've also noticed that the screen becomes unresponsive during charge. Not completely frozen but every action takes a few tries

No need to factory reset!
Just reset the launcher!

Brilliant that worked! Have to set up my home screens again but I can live with that.
Still contemplating sending the phone back because its not charging off usb cable and when charging off the mains screen is unresponsive and erratic. Seems to be common issues as far as my googling can tell?

This issue is caused by thr stock launcher. I have a widget that does not work at all on stock launcher and works perfdctly fine with lpp and go ex.
On lpp the world clock doesn't work and on gomex favourite contacts don't work.
P.S. I have no idea what kind of solution is taking the phone back, an obsession in the US.
I never got a reboot prior to the update, after the update it reboots constantly. This is not as much as a boot loop.
It boots up and stays up on the lock screen. I unlock it and after a few mins of use the thing locks up, freezes and then does a quick reboot. I feel like its an app or setting that is not agreeing with ICS. I have a weird feeling it is gmail, since it seems to lock up around accessing gmail.
anyone else have this issue? any tips other than wiping and having to start everything all over again?
Sounds like a factory reset is in order....

Hi there!
I have the following problem with my S3 (bualf1 austrian vodafone branding )
The screen stays on after the charger is plugged and the screen turns on after charging is complete!
I've done a factory reset and the problem has seemed to solved, but yesterday the problem has occured again!
I've really tried everything (every option, enabling / disabling everything, uninstalling apps, ...)
When shutting the phone down, the screen reacts as supposed (turns off while charging )
Any suggestion for me?

same problem as mine, occured only once. my workaround is by manually lock the phone (press power button). what kernel you use?
Are you absolutely sure this is not linked to a software you have installed?
There are certain titles that allow you to leave the screen on whilst being charged. Look carefully, it could be quite obscure.
As you said, it cleared when you did a Factory Reset but has now returned ~ thus indicating a recently installed App has resumed the screen on operation.
In reference to the phone coming on when fully charged, that is normal but the most likely reason it is not going back off again is due to whatever App setting you have that is then telling the phone once the screen is on keep it on.

Stock kernel, stock (austrian branded) firmware!
Manually locking works for me, but when den charging is finished the phone's display turns (and stays) on - that is my problem!

Thats the same thinkings i have, but i didn't managed to find out, what app this could be...
the strange thing is, it works as intended when no power source is plugged (screen turns off after 30 seconds), it just doesn't turn off while charging
no idea anyone?

I'm afraid without knowing which Apps you have installed it would be difficult to find the culprit.
If it were me I would do the following:-
1. Factory Reset again only this time do it from Recovery ~ [The recovery mode in Samsung Galaxy S III can be entered by pressing the Volume Up Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button]
2. From the options provided select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system. You now have a completely cleared system so the next stage is important.....
3. Just install the settings, nothing more and certainly don't let Google Play reinstall your Apps.
4. Connect your power cable and see if once the S3 is charged the screen comes ON to notify you it is charged BUT THE SCREEN THEN TURNS OFF after a brief period. If it does then you at least will know under the basic setup your phone is fine. Now another slow but probably most important bit........
5. Start installing your Apps (say ten at a time) and then reboot your phone when all ten are installed and again start charging the phone.
At this stage we want to see what happens after charging is complete. If all is fine you then know what Apps are installed don't effect the screen ON problem, so continue installing another ten Apps and again reboot the phone and apply the charger to see if once charged the screen turns ON then OFF.
Continue repeating this procedure until you notice after a charge the screen this time does not turn OFF.
6. Right..... you now know the problem is being caused by one of the last ten Apps you installed. So, uninstall each App in turn (making sure you reboot each and every time you uninstall) and again recharge. This should eventually lead to one individual App that has caused the problem (the remaining Apps you uninstalled from the last ten can now be re-installed).
7. Investigate that App thoroughly to see if it alters anything on your phone that is causing the problem. Also name the App so we can look at it too.
It's a slow process granted but it's the only way you are going to find out what is causing the issue.
Basically, if it's happening from a fresh Factory Reset (via Recovery using the methods I mentioned above) then it's an issue directly with the phone.
If all is well then it's an issue with an individual App.
Good Hunting......
Same thing happened to me today and i never noticed it happen before..
Went to plug the phone in and the screen was on so i figured "Oh it will turn off after 15 seconds like usual" came back 5 minutes later still on.... uhh okay, so i hit the power button the screen went off.. I went to the restroom came back.. SCREEN BACK ON AGAIN? hmmm dubya tee eff? Turned it off again with the power button.. This time it stayed off..
Stock firmware latest upgraded 2 days after the 4th of the july.
Which firmware do you have?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Well, that's what i've done:
1.) factory reset
2.) reinstall all settings and mailaccounts
3.) reboot and see if it still works
4.) install and configure 5 apps
5.) reboot and see if it still works
6.) repeat steps 4. und 5. as long as all apps are reinstalled and reconfigured
and so, finally the guilty app was found!
EXTENDED CONTROLS causes the problem, that the screen stays on when a charger is plugged!
Tested it on all 4 own mobiles, all of them are working as normal again!!!
THANKS BEARD!!!
Screen wakes up intermittently. Specifically when an operation is done and the phone goes to sleep it intermittently wakes up for a couple of annoying times, then it goes normal, and out of nowhere it starts to wake up. I am on stock ROM and Kernel. Please shed some light on this.
Boot your phone in safe mode and check if the proplem persists. Maybe some app wakes your phone.

How to goto the Safe mode in Samsung Galaxy S3*(all other Samsung Android phones should work in the same fashion)
Switch off your phone completely switch it on using power button once you see Samsung Logo on screen start hitting the left capacitive touch button i.e. Menu button.
You will see your device will boot in Safe mode and Safe mode will be watermarked on the left bottom of the screen. None of your downloaded application will be available in application menu.
How to get out of Safe mode in Galaxy S3Simple reboot the device.

Okay, here is my conclusion after a day and a half observation:
By curiosity I restarted the phone using power button. Since then that phenomena started to occur. Woke up whenever went to sleep for a couple of annoying times then a break and then a few more wake-up within next 7 to 15 minutes. The following morning I decided to restart the phone again using the power button and since then till now No Intermittent waking up.
It may or may not sound funny but I think the restarting-the-phone-using-power-button had caused that problem in my case. My precious is now absolutely fine since yesterday provided that during this entire happening I did not install any new application or make a tweak in settings.
Same here.I'm experiencing the same problems with the screen just waking up on it own.I thought it something to do with still being connected to the inherent.but turned out it wasn't.plus I've restarted the phone loads and it still happens every now again.........
So if any one could help or no the course.many thanks

same here.. in other topic i was suggested to remove live wallpaper.. i'll try that but i don't know yet if that's the problem..
I noticed that his happens when I turned of my phone screen and immediately place my phone on some NFC enabled cards. Seems that the phone is trying to read it and turned the screen on. Not sure if this is the case for you.
I though of that but i turned my nfc off and checked for any possible sources of nfc chips.. but it was not the case..
Anyone found a solution to this problem? i made a quick google search and i found some people having the same problem but no "solution" :crying::crying:
Is the problem gone in safe mode?

This problem is usually caused by a rogue app for me I had two such apps, one of them was the checkfus app and cloud music downloader app the problem only stopped when I uninstalled the apps.

You could try AirPush Detector from market to detect this type of malware apps.

this actually was for my gf phone and it seams to be working now after uninstalling a live wallpaper..
strangely enough my htc one x started doing the same last night.. as i didn't installed anything new in the last couple of days i was surprised but then i remembered that i had just rebooted my phone.. so it had to be something that was started during this reboot.. so uninstalled the most recent 3 apps, kept the same but, after another reboot, it stopped.. (i had alreday rebooted a few times after having the problem and before uninstalling those apps and it kept happening)
Android 4.3 wake up bug
My phone just started doing this wonderful bug. My phone dropped from 98% battery to 70% within an hour because of waking up every few minutes.
I tried booting in "Safe Mode" and that seemed to work as per this thread. When I rebooted in normal mode, the problem returned. I then clear my RAM using the Task Manager. So far after about an hour it seems to have fixed the problem.
Clearing the RAM seemed to fix the problem until I unlocked the phone. Now I have to clear the RAM every single time I want to lock the phone. I now HATE this phone. Thanks Verizon!
My One freezes on me and completely locks up from time to time, mostly when using the browser. It seems that it has been happening more and more frequently. When it happens, I have to keep jamming the home button to get out of it. I always reboot right after it happens hoping to clear it up but sometimes it happens again within an hour or so. It happened on my first One too but I thought it might have had something to do with the ROM I flashed. I'm stock rooted on this one and it is still happening. Does this happen to anyone else?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I haven't had the phone completely freeze, but have noticed the stock browser will hang up. I am however, able to just press the home button, then enter recent apps menu to close the browser.
Sorry to not have the same exact problem, but that has been my experience thus far. I'm sure it's just a small bug.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Weird things happen on mine while I have flash player active... I have no problems with enable flash player unchecked in the menu. I only activate it when I really need it which is rare anyway. The browser doesn't need to be restarted after activating it, it just refreshes the page so it not really inconvenient to leave it off until I need it.
Mostly some rogue app.. Just give a list of apps you have and we (users without randoom reboots or hangs) will point out the apps which we have not installed so that you can narrow down to the issue-causing app
I'm having a similar problem
My htc one crashes & reboots a few and even sometimes several times a day. Once in awhile I'll even have to boot from recovery mode as the phone has trouble restarting. It also starts do a bunch of screen captures as a restarting message appears. I've done a factory restart and still experiencing the same problem. I love this phone but am getting so frustrated. Bought my girlfriend the same phone she has never experienced this issue. I think it is either a problem with an app I have installed or possibly an overheating issue (I work outside in the sun, my phone gets pretty warm in my pocket). I'm close to doing a warranty exchange, just hoping its an app problem.
Sounds like an app to me. My last phone did that when an app would crash.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Maybe it's some applications conflicting with one another. Or a bad app.
I am stock. No root. I got my htc one before the official launch and it has not froze up or did random reboots. Knock of wood.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
I don't think it's an app. I've deleted a whole bunch and froze others and it still happens to me all the time. I have nothing on my One that isn't on my One X and the One X has never frozen on me, EVER. One thing I've noticed is it only happens when using data- stock browser, Chrome, and Pulse news. It doesn't happen any other time. I drove from Colorado to Kansas yesterday and it must have frozen up on me 10-15 times during the entire 8 hour trip. It's getting really frustrating. When I have time I am going to nandroid and wipe and see if it happens on a bare phone, but my money is on that it will.
