[Q] Local files spotify trouble - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im running Cm9 on my Galaxy Note.
I'm using Spotify a lot, and finding some troubles with the local files section.
I have imported a lot of local files to my desktop version of Spotiy. And when running stock android you just connect the device to the same wifi network (or cable) and it syncs all the tracks automaticly. But now Spotify does not recognize my device, and half my spotify library is unplayable.
Any suggestions to a fix for this?

[Q] Is anyone streaming from PC to TV?

I've been at this for a while and have yet to find a valid solution. I know now that DLNA might as well not exist and I've been using a subsonic server with the subsonic app on the market to stream movies and such from my PC to my phone. This works great except it can only be done at my home (not at all over the mobile network). My question is are any of you streaming from PC to phone, then to TV via HDMI? Or streaming at all to phone over mobile network? If so please post what you are using because this feature is basically why I got the phone. In a side note I'm not an amateur with android phones and I have gingerblur running. I figure this question is a longshot and I expect only something like a Cyanogen mod or a future update of gingerblur will make this all possible. Any input is much appreciated.

[Q] Output all Audio of Android on PC via Wifi (not DLNA or UPNP Streaming)

Hello there,
Is there an app that can route the audio output of my android smartphone/tablet to my PC? I was googling and searching this forum for this topic quite some time, but all I found was the other way arround. From PC to android is not that urgent for me, since I mounted all my network files with cifs.ko to my phone. Although there seems to be something called Pulseaudio. To be more specific - as mentioned in the title - I am not looking for a dlna/upnp solution, because there are some situations where this is not working, i.e. the audio output of applications like grooveshark.
Of course there are a lot of remotes out there: unified remote, awarremote for winamp, gsremote for grooveshark and so on. They are pretty awesome, but sometimes it is quite cumbersome to switch the remote app all the time.
Let me describe the situation I have in mind. You are listening to an audiobook on your phone with your beloved audiobook app (audible in my case) and come home. Then you activate the WifiAudioApp and it connects to your PC and the audio is now playing on your pc speakers.
I am no developer, but I think something like this would be possible, if someone could fool android to believe that it paired with an bluetooth speaker set. But in fact it is an app, that puts audio over Wifi to a client programm on your PC (certainly only possible on a rooted phone). Don't know if this is possible.
There seems to be a gadget, which offers something in this direction:
http://androidcommunity.com/android-gets-airplay-like-streaming-via-xbounds-20111122/
But I am not that interested in video, just audio.
If anyone has suggestions for me, I would really appreciate them.
Best regards,
Bel.
P.S. I think, this would be a great application. To all developers out there: At least you would have one client, who would pay for an app like this. Certainly, there would be more.
it's a great idea!
i'm also have "robo" smartphone and i love listening to music. i have got some mp3-BoomBox which is connected to my Notebook via 3.5mm.
i can listen to music from Android smartphone on notebook via Bluetooth, but also i know that it is possible via wi-fi!
somebody please help us! without any expensive gadgets like ^^^
sorry for my english
I'm looking for an app/ method that can do this and I have found two ways to do this so far;
Method 1:
- Create a directory on my computer to be used only for music that I want on my device.
- Select this directory only for Winamp computer program to search for content in.
- Set up any playlists, preferences, titles etc on the computer program.
- Sync to Winamp app on my device.
If you configure the app and program to sync anytime the device is using the same wireless network (wireless syncing is a great feature of Winamp that actually works, unlike Kies) you will have the same music collection available on both your phone and computer.
Method 2:
- Use Gmote app to remotely control the media content on your pc (you need the PC download, too).
This method is very primitive and can only play files as they appear and not playlists however this can be remedied by creating a directory containing only the files you want to play.
Best I've found so far.

[Q] How to VPN to PC ?

Hi guys
I want to play files from my home file server through the wireless network on the SGS 2.
How can I do this ? Do I need to VPN in ?
yes i also need something like that to play my films from my pc on to my samsung phone... how do i do this?
I use CIFS and Mount Manager to access all my files. You have to be on the same network though. I never tried using a VPN to access files.
thanks mate but i only have 1 mac adress (because my carrier S*CKS) maybe i can try using hotspot... can you acces them and play them???
Did you try streaming the video? That way you would be able to access videos from anywhere and you would stream from your PC.
It's not an ideal solution but it could work on Android because I used something similar on my tablet once.
no i didnt but will try later after work... i only need it for the videos for the music i use audiogalaxy is freaking brilliant... its the best app for it.. no setup no nothing just install go to the webpage and your running its automatics find all your music on the pc.(for all try this) thanks a bunch
edit sorry last Q what do you use to stream videos
I use a paid remote connection app (Splashtop Remote) because it's fast and I can actually use it to play a video on my computer and watch it on my phone. It's not an ideal solution but it works for me when CIFS doesn't.
There is also this: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...quality-video-android-tversity-nswplayer.html
And this but I don't know if it works over a different network: http://www.appbrain.com/app/vlc-stream-convert/com.gmail.traveldevel.android.vlc.app
Whats the difference between these and using the allshare app?
Ricey
Any more suggestions on this ?
What if i want to transfer my files across from my PC to the phone if I'm not at home ?
Like .apk, photo files etc
yes vpn is necessary to get access your system out side the home....

[Q] Media server problems

Hi,
I have had a look through the forums and cant seem to find any related issues to the current issue i have.
Using the stock player on the S3 i can see my pc's media server but can't connect to it, it gets stuck in an endless cycle of loading, now i have been through my pc in every possible way, my 360, PS3 and Desire S can all connect to the media server without issue, only the S3 can't, however if i enable media server on the S3 it will eventually allow me to connect to it via media player and play songs from my S3 but still not the other way around pc to S3.
If left it will come up with an error about content location not being available.
Having checked firewalls and streaming connections along with anti virus im still unable to get them to play nice and talk to each other properly.
Has anyone else had the same issue or can recommend anything, im running stock firmware unrooted on the S3 and windows 7 x64 on the pc.
Thanks for reading and for any advice given

[Q] Walkman connecting to NAS

Hi there,
I have been using my Sony xperia tablet Z for a few weeks now, but i can't connect to my NAS.
I've been trying to stream music from my NAS to my tablet, either via SMB (Samba) or UPnP.
When i open the walkman app on my tablet it shows my NAS and i am able to connect to the drive.
But after that it just shows a nearly infinite list repeating the 3 folders on my NAS (music, movies & images)
When i try to open the folder Music it tries connecting for a few min. After that it just says there is no content in that folder (which there is).
I have tried connecting to the NAS using other apps like Antek file explorer (with SMB addition) and several UPnP players, most can't find my NAS and those who can can't connect to it.
I have the following NAS: Freecom network drive XS 1.5 TB.
My NAS is set up with 3 accounts, 1 public (no username or password), 1 for me and 1 for my gf (both with custom username and password)
My Sony xperia tablet Z is the 16GB wifi only version, latest firmware.
Any suggestions on where to look for the problem? And even better, how to fix the problem.
Thanks!
I found a temporary work-around.
I can connect XMBA(a media player) to the NAS. From there i can stream my media to my tablet.
Let's hope i can find out how to get rid of this workaround.
Well, for some scenarios (like, for instance, using GoneMad Music Player or PowerAmp with a NAS) it's anyway better to have support for mounting CIFS or NFS file systems so that all apps can access the NAS, thinking it is part of the local file system.
On other devices there exist kernels with CIFS and/or NFS support "baked in" (my old Acer A700 even has NFS in the stock ROM), or at least some dev has compiled CIFS or NFS modules for the devices which can be used via insmod at bootup or via apps like Mount Manager.
Unfortunately at the time there are no such possibilities on the Tablet Z - although I would be very happy if we would get them Devs, are you listening? (Is it perhaps possible to use/port cifs. ko from some other Xperia device?)

I recently found out that XBMC has a android version now (still in beta), but the app connects to my NAS flawlessly.linkylink
I have no clue as to why XBMC works flawlessly while other apps like walkman, antekfileexplorer and UPnPplayer wont work.
I use Esfile explorer

I tried to use Anttek FM its beautiful but SMB really slow(sometimes nothing). EsFM is simpler and fast. Go to Network - LAN - Scan and there is it. Plus I made shortcut to tab Z homescreen so I can connect faster.
