I think it's useless backup apk files, I can download them from Google play store.

Thank you friend your reply. :thumbup:
Do you have an idea to exclude selected app from backing up?
What do you mean?
You select your apps you want to backup, except you run titanium's script to backup them all...

No you cannot backup app data without backuping the app first. In Titanium Backup the main function is backuping the apk of the apps which cannot be deselected. The selectable options present are only for backuping app cache and external data etc.
But you can recover only the data without the app. So after setting up a new rom, you can install the apps from play store and then recover the app data with titanium backup.

You can use labels to only back up selected apps. So give the apps a label and then run a script saying to only backup apps with this label.

I'd like to flash a new rom, is there any way to backup all my installed apps (including the ones I paid for) so that after I flash the rom, I can get them back? I don't mind if I lose their settings, I just don't want to have to go back to the Market and manually download each one again. Thanks.
you should try appmanager (search the market)
you can back up most your installed app on your SD card
then you just have to re-install all the apk files...
but the best way I found is to use appbrain: it allows you sync all your apps on the appbrain website, and you can create custom lists of apps as backups...
check appbrain website for more details
Astro File manager, it includes an App backup function, and it's free:
search for it on Android Market
OR
Spritesoftware Android Backup, it is ONE U$D only:

Here is a link to Astro:

Titanium Backup.
- It does BATCH backup and restore of all your apps (including the paid ones), along with all their corresponding data and settings...It can even do this in the background (with updates in the notification bar).
The donate version ($4 minimum) gets you Hypershell, which makes everything that TB does about 2x faster (or more).
I've got the Nexus One and between Modaco's Desire ROM updates and CyanogenMod-5 ROM updates, I switch back and forth all the time. TB makes the whole process a heck of a lot easier. HIGHLY recommended.

Thanks, I installed Astro and it backed up most of my apps, but it didn't let me backup a few of them (it said "private" and wouldn't let me check them off to back them up) and it wouldn't backup any of the paid apps. So I might try Titanium Backup instead like Namuna suggested.

Does appbrain let you backup paid apps, and apps you've already installed prior to using appbrain?
You cannot backup private applications. It's a security thing.
I use ASTRO for backing up applications and vCardIO for contacts.

No, and Titanium Backup backs up paid apps, free apps, backs up all of the settings and backs up the market links so when you restore them, you can still get updates.
Best app for the job by far, the free version works great but I highly suggest donating. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.
As for paid apps, they actually are linked to you account so you don't need to back them up, they appear in your downloads list in the market when you sync to your Google account without you doing anything
I'm really embarrassed to ask such a noob question, but my N1 isn't currently rooted. I'd like to root it to have OpenVPN functionality. I work with computers, understand that rooting breaks some of the security and have read several guides.
Anyway, how do I back up? Everywhere I read things like "Use Titanium backup, you must have root access on your phone for this."
What I want to do is to back up my settings, and back up any license keys for apps that I have. (Do I need to do that?)
Also, from what I'd read, its a good idea to backup the pre-installed google apps prior to rooting. How do I do that?
And how about my contacts, sms messages etc?
I have read that Astro was useful for backing up apps. I already had Astro so I backed up all my apps, I'm just not sure if that's the same sort of backup as needed in this case.
It must be a stupid question but I don't see an answer out there.
Thanks.

I said that I'd already backed up my apps with Astro (although I did wonder where the backup had been stored).
Thanks for the Spritesoftware Backup tip though, looks useful.
I've read that the licenses are associated with the google account rather than being files stored on the phone so that should not be a problem.
And I think that the google apps can now be redownloaded but I'll check on that.
Thanks again
U may also use AppMonster Pro - it makes backups for all the software installed, and also when upgrading to a newer version.
you can use "estrong' file explorer ,and it is free
MyBackUp Pro
I use MyBackUp Pro as it two different back up options and allows you to backup to SD or Cloud:
1) Apps; Apps+data --> allows you to backup most of your paid apps too.
2) Data (includes the home screen).
Can tick all to restore all, or you can include individual items.
Then when restoring after a wipe, restore apps first, then Data, so that your home screen restoration works (if you do it the other way the widgets will not load as there isn't an app installed yet).
There used to be a free version which was the full version yet limited to 30 days - check the market.

So does that also include mp3s and documents? I've got a bunch of stuff on my kindle fire, but I don't want to lose some of the music I have. I've backed it up on my computer, but I'm not sure where to get some of the things I use.
Ok, I have finally convinced my wife to let me play with her vibrant. I plan on rooting it tonight but before I put the new ROM on her phone she wants me to try to backup her apps. She does not want to lose all of her data for her current apps. Stock 2.2 is always freezing or messing up on her and she is getting really annoyed!
My question is this, in order for me to move everything over (app and data) is there a step by step guide for Titanium Backup so I can do this properly?
(When I did it to my phone, I screwed up and lost everything on my vibrant and I don't want to do this again.)
I know with MIUI it has a backup feature which is awesome and this is more than likely what I will put on her phone.
Please help!
Thanks in advance
It is pretty simple really. In Titanium just hit batch and backup all apps plus data. You can also choose to save the backup on external micro sdcard just in case.
When I did that last time it wouldn't put everything back I guess I don't understand the process

What exactly did it not restore? Hit menu and batch and you can see what apps you are going to back up. Similarly when you are restoring you can see the list and it also gives you option to restore the app + data or just the apps. Just make sure after making a backup that you have backed up every app that you wanted.
It shows you everything in batch menu screen.

Only one other suggestion I have is do not back up system apps. Restoring system apps + data doesn't work nicely with one ROM to another. Just use backup user apps menu.

That's just it, she don't want to lose the data, that's my problem

If you are going to MIUI, use Titanium Backup sparingly. Do not restore any system (red) apps and do not restore apps offered in the ROM. When I first went to MIUI, I restored my apps one at a time rather than use restore all apps. I didn't have an issue nor did I lose any data. Also, do a nandroid backup and I would backup all the files on the phone to your computer. This way you can move the apps to the system/app folder if things go south. I hope she enjoys MIUI, I do.
How do I move the files to the computer?? What folder is it located in? Do i need to download root explorer for this...I have to completely redo her entire phone and I plan on wiping everything and starting from scratch, I believe somehow someway something was messed up and Miui did not install properly. I want to start her over from scratch like a brand new vibrant off the showroom floor.
Hook your phone up to your PC and pull off the folder called TitaniumBackup and put it on you desktop. Once you "clean" your phone, you can put all that back on your SDcard. Pretty easy really.
titanium backup has a dropbox option now which backs everything up to your dropbox.
and unless she's using google voice, she's going to lost her text messages. similarly with call history. contacts and wifi stuff should be backed up with the google account. so, like the picture posted above, just 'backup all user apps' then after flashing the new rom 'restore all apps with data'.
Backup and restore problem Titanum Backup 8.4.0.2 PRO / Galaxy S9 Plus
Hi
I have used TB 2-3 yrs ago and it wask ok..not many problems.
No I have a problem with all backup jobs I make..all of them not are marked with these smilies but ? ( I guess smilies means OK and no error backup and "?" means some error/missing in backup
And; when I restore a OLD backup With smilies, after the restore the smilies is away/missing and this "?" have apper instead of the smilies, so it seems that TB destroy the old OK backup after it is restored.
Can this error be a fail in options? Something I have to set in options for get it to work?
Hope for answerd ( and hope this quest is posted in correct group. If not, pls tell me
Regards
Rolf
I backed up my current stock rom and flashed cm9 to taste it. That went perfectly.
Then after restoring, I noticed certain apps are broken(?).
Example:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",

}
Any advice to reduce this?
If you guys want to know which CWM versions I used then I am not exactly sure about that.
While backing up from stock rom CWM v5.0.+ and restoring from cm9 , CWM v5.5+
How did you backup and restore exactly? Out of CWM or did you do a nandroid backup/restore?
Nevertheless I recommend using titanium backup... It backups and restores also the data (for example wireless settings and other app & system settings)
Open TB, go settings/restore/restore from internal sd card

That, I think, is good to hear. Some guy on irc said my phone memory might be corrupted. So it's not just my phone.
I guess I should also backup my apps separately.
One more question, I tried backing up an app in tb from gingerbread and while restoring in cm9, it froze. I had to force stop it, but the app did not restore. How to deal with this?

Going from GB to ICS I believe you should be restoring only the app itself, not the data. If the app still won't restore it is probably not compatible with ICS.
Iv'e moved from Note to SGSIII
Backed up all user+data apps on Note,
Copied TB Folder to SGSIII Internal SD Card,
Ran TB (Pro, Purchased) and restored all user apps+data.
60% of the apps didn't restore, TB didn't complain, and if I click them in TB, i have "Uninstall" enabled, but no other keys active.
Something is messed up.

It might be hanging on a specific app. Try restoring one by one and see if you can identify if one particular app is causing the app to hang.

It's not hanging. The progress bar goes all the way to 100%
And I get a notification that Titanium Finished restoring apps.
Also, Tried one by one, no go.
Those that restored normally on the batch restore are already there, those that didn't won't restore one by one either.

It's already on my phone in Settings --> Backup & Reset. I set it up to backup when I first got my phone using HTC account, and I see the last backup dates change to confirm it's doing a daily backups. But I don't see how to restore the last backup?
After Googling this, I think I should be getting an option to restore from backup when I first boot my newly stocked phone, but instead, I get that AT&T Getting Started interface with no option to restore.
