Hello
Is it possible to add 2 numbers in whatsapp within same device ?
it is possible in iphone , what about android ?!
It's not possible. WhatsApp only works with the current phone number. It's clearly mentioned in the WhatsApp FAQ that it only works with one number on one device. So how can it work with two numbers on the iPhone? I'm afraid your information is wrong.
http://www.whatsapp.com/faq/en/general/21009863
If you really want to use WhatsApp with both your numbers, download BlueStacks app player to your computer, install WhatsApp in it, and assign your secondary phone number to it. So this way you can have WhatsApp on your phone assigned to the primary number, and on the computer with the secondary number. BlueStacks is an Android app emulator.

I'm afraid YOU are all wrong. It is fully possible on an iPhone even on the iPhone 5.
With a jailbroken phone you just take the original .ipa file and change the bundle identifier name to Whatapp2 in the info.plist file.
It works properly and notifications are pushed according to which ever whatsapp application is assigned to what number.
I would also like to have this feature since i have dual sim. One for work and one for personal contacts.

I would love to have access to the info you're asking to get PMd about. I mean, if we all got this greedy and gave solutions though PM this forum would be kinda useless.
So in iPhone it works if you change the bundle name, so I assume it also works if you change the app name or something in the AndroidManifest.xml file?
PM is a boon service given by xda

THIS NO MORE THREADS WILL GET SPAMMED AND ALSO IT WILL BE EASY FOR THE VIEWERS TO DIRECTLY GET ON POINT.

yes it is possible. you need to install titanium backup and make 2 profiles in titanium backup. Then go to backups/.... and search whatsapp. there is a option use multiple profiles. select that and you can use 1 number a profile
^ thanks, that worked!!! Can u tell me where data is saved for both diff profile, how to backup both data and restore later....
Thanks again man !!!!!
So here's a big question: is it possible to use WhatsApp on 2 phones - 1 iPhone, 1 Android? I understand about Titanium Backup, but that would make it work for 2 Android devices, right?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hrmm...this didn't work for me. i changed the identifier name on the plist to whatsapp2, rebooted teh device, and now whatsapp won't even load, let alone allow me to install a 2nd version. where'd i go wrong?
i modified the file on my phone via ifile in the app directory
There is an App to handle multiple numbers for whatsapp. Check it out on another thread in XDA.

Pinger!
Use pinger.com/tfw to activate your other device's WhatsApp. Worked fine for me.

You didn't load it properly.
Grab a copy of whatsapp from your itunes local file location.
Copy and paste it to your desktop.
Change the plist identifier name to whatsapp2 and save it accordingly with the ifile manager.
Then drag the plist file back into that copy of whatsapp you made on your desktop.
Use ifunbox to install the app from the desktop that you have just edited.
Now whatsapp will not reboot as it will use the same signature you used to download the app. It is closing cause you are trying to load a cracked version.
Titanium back up pro is working well for 2 whats app account in multiuser profile.

The ROMkitchen now offers theft protection in ROM
Thanks to Charles Warner, who answered our call for a coding volunteer, we now have an advanced theft protection system. It's called IIWPO, which stands for Interesting Interactions With the Previous Owner.
Simply go to the ROMkitchen and create a ROM with the theft protection feature turned on. Enter your name as you will enter it in the 'Owner Information', and a GSM number of a friend that you want to send the messages to.
Then when someone steals your phone, they probably want to either change the name of the owner, or cold boot the phone altogether. Either way, the device detects that the owner name doesn't contain your name at the next wakeup, and sends one or more SMS messages to the number you set. In the best case, the new 'owner' provided address and all other relevant information. If he/she didn't, at least you have the new phone number of your phone.
How it works:
Registry settings:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\XDA-developers\IIWPO]
Owner: set to owner name device is tied too (this is the master check, won't send a sms if user changed to this one)
LastOwner: set to owner name device is tied too (this one changes as the user name changes, simply to detect changes)
ReportNumber: set to phone number to report changes too.
Files:
IIWPO_main.exe goes in \windows
IIWPO_startup.exe goes in \windows\startup
it sends one of two text messages if the owner details are changed, if they are set to "nothing", then it sends :-
"Name not set, will pick up details if user changes name again"
if the name is filled in it sends :-
"Name : <user name> (<company name>), email : <email address>, phone : <phone number>" this string is guaranteed less than 160 characters.
if the Address will fit in the same text message, it is appeneded as ",Add : <address>", otherwise a seperate text message containing the address is sent.
what if they were to cold boot it? wouldnt that erase the s.w? or is it in the rom?
also what if they put a sim in with no cred?
lmk cheers
gaz
If you read the article carefully, you would know... It's directly on the first line: "The ROMkitchen now offers theft protection in ROM" 8)
If they put in a SIM with no credit, no SMS will be sent, I think...

By other words - when the Thief buys a new credit
This is amazing. Well done once again!!!
I have one additional suggestion. Please see http://www.psiloc.com/?id=prod&nrp=53 for a cool application running on Symbian. If one has access to similar APIs on the XDA to get cell info it would be trivial to include location data in the SMS message sent when the device is stolen. This way it could be actually possible to locate it.
And a question, when the SMS is sent by this hidden process does it still generate Message Sent baloons? It would be good if it did not. Thanks for all your efforts.

We don't yet have an easy way to get the location data without doing really weird things. (ROM 3.19.x GER has it, but it's not easily transplanted to other ROMs). Work is in progress though...

It doesn't. You get to be the first to tell the new 'owner' about the feature.

I am a little confused about how this works. I went to jeffs kitchen, cooked a rom with the anti theft featur, but it didnt ask any questions of me. I have now flashed the rom to the XDA, am I missing something?

Try setting the owner name to something other than your own name you set in the kitchen, make the device go to standby, wake it up again, and see if your friend gets the SMS.
I maybe didnt read in the kitchen all the details, I wasnt asked for my owner details there, when the kitchen gets rebuilt I will make a return visit.
Theft Protection
All this assumes of course that the thief hasn't heard about XDA-Developers and the means to flash ROMs

Yep. IIWPO builds on the assumption there are significantly more people that do not know about its existence than people that do. It builds on SBO: Security By Obscurity, which is usually not a very good concept for security design. But it is adequate in this circumstance, given that it's very hard to build something which would be secure against a knowing attacker without modifying the hardware or messing with bootloader and OS in such a way that the attacker cannot load a new OS. But then the attacker could just use JTAG. And even if he she could not: given the cheap supply of units with broken screens which are incredibly expensive to fix, the screen is by far the most valuable part.
Ive cooked a 4.00.05 Rom with this feature.
Ive checked and confirm that the following are installed:
\Windows\IIWPO_main.exe
\Windows\IIWPO_startup.exe
\Windows\StartUp\IIWPO_startup.exe
And In The Registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\XDA-developers\IIWPO\
LastOwner MY Name
Owner My Name
ReportNumber Friend's Mobile No.
To test:
I changed the owner name in Settings\Owner Information to a different name and then
>>Try setting the owner name to something other than your own name you set in the kitchen, make the device go to standby, wake it up again, and see if your friend gets the SMS.

is there something which could be done to get it up again?? I really love this feature...

but now it doesnt send none at all i changed it to my name then i decided um i want to try it out to see if it works so i put in noddy and pressed ok but no text :| so i restarted the xda and it still didnt send no text so i just put it back to normal and left it at that :\

it performs its checks on wakeup, I am unsure if soft-reset (what I figure you mean by restarted) would trigger the check. Change your name to noddy, turn it off, and turn it back on again.
I've had my device running at least a month now without hard reset, and just changed name to noddy, turned it off, and back on again, and it sent the relevant text message.
If you are sure it isn't working email me at [email protected] and we'll find out what the problem is.

Hi all.... i have just moved from blackberry to the samsung glaxy s3....
I have a few questions regarding the contacts and the phone dialer....
1- is it somehow possible to customise the contacts view so that i can see the company name under the na.e of the contact without actually opening the contact..... this was a default thing on my blackberry n was extremely useful... i want the same to happen on android also.
2- in the phone application also i want to see the company name of the contact under the contact name.
3- i also want to see the company name in the call screen (incoming calls and outgoing calls)......
I have looked for an answer to this in these forums, google n lots of other places. I even rooted my phone to edit the contacts and the phone app, but since i have negligie knowledge of programming, was unsuccessful in that too....
Developers, can u please help me in this.....

hello guys
i made mistake and use textra for two year, well it was a better app than stock android 4.3 sms app,but yesterday i noticed new messaging app from Cyanogenmod 12.1 on my xperia sp is great! and then i noticed because i,m a flashoholic and play around with so much rom, i never backuped my messaging storage apart from textra,so then i backed up my messaging storage with SMS Backup & Restore app until i find i dont have my older ( 60000+) message from textra! so yea had a small search and find out textra sms is the only sms app that use its own database! [email protected]$#%^&%#%& !! and there is no way to get it on stock or any other sms app beside convert messaging.db from textra database.
i find this : https://github.com/sync-oz/convert-textra-db-to-xml
but i cant figure it out how to do it in windows 10 and i,m not expert on this kind of method
can you get me right and more specific Instructions from link above? or can you make a simple app with script that read textra database and convert it to xml?
can anybody save me from textra?
Nobody? Just a tip to how to do it?

If you didn't make a backup before making your mod then its probably gone.

To be honest restoring sms data is asking to corrupt the dB which can lead to sms app not working properly

I wouldn't know where to start with that even if I needed to.
I agree that trying that would probably just lead to more issues because you are crossing apps and crossing operating systems and the operating systems are different versions. Usually, an operating system doesn't like files that were saved or generated in another operating system and android versions don't like files from other android versions. Depending on the data that is from other systems, that system kind of "tags" it so that it knows that it was the one that created it and where it was saved to, that can cause issues due to partitioning differences between android versions.
Are the messages that important?

I have to agree. When I asked textra about it they stated that it was encrypted so only their app could read it.

I know what you saying, but textra app make me use its own app like forever, and thats not what i want! And database of textra is seprate from any system function, and if we convert it to xml it just can be readable for stock sms app in every other rom,
Just look at the app to know it better

Yeah, I'm sure its easily readable in a text editor, there is a difference in reading a .txt file in a text editor and viewing an actual text message.
But bringing those texts to a different app to view them is another story.
If you could convert as easily as you seem to think then why haven't you done it yet. You keep posting links that you think will make it possible but they aren't working for you yet, are they? Hmm...I wonder why? Maybe because it can't be done the way you are trying?
If you want your messages restored then try to do it with the Textra app....you know....where they actually came from to begin with...the app that is already capable of reading them? Do it the way its guaranteed to work instead of trying something that could potentially corrupt your device AND possibly corrupt the messages you are trying to recover, if you corrupt them in the attempt then they'll be gone for good and you will have wasted your time. I'm just saying go with what already works.
The second link in your post above me has numerous posts from users that keep saying that textra messages are tied to textra and can't be imported. The developer of Textra even states that it doesn't work. I'm sure the guy that created the app would know infinitely more about it than you do.
Give it up, you aren't gonna get those messages in a different text app. It just isn't going to work. You are not the first to have tried it.
Just take it as a lesson learned and move on, just keep this as a reminder to backup what you want to keep before flashing over it. Use SMS backup to backup/restore your Textra messages.

So i done it, i searched alot(almost 1 week),read alot and at the end i learned to do it,i converted textra database to xml,and restored it to android stock messaging app and deleted textra app for ever. I just want to say next time try to help somebody, don't disappoint them, and do not say anything unless you know it all because nobody here on xda ask for wrong direction! Soon i will make a complete tutorial and post it in gerenal section.
Please do. I'm sure lot of people will be interested including me as I'm gonna try Textra for the first time. Before switching from stock messaging, I wanted to know if I can roll back easily and I ended up here and here : Textra... Beware!, and the confirmation from the developper here : How to get textra messages to appear in stock sms?. It seems it's not so easy by design.
So definetely I'll be interested in your tutorial.

I wouldn't hold your breath. I think he is full of bunk, personally. You don't come in here saying "I DID IT!" without a hint of how you did it, then say "I'll post how soon".
If he gave general steps, then someone could work with that. How hard would it be to type 3 or 4 more sentences? I'll believe it when I see it, which I'm not sure I will.
almost makes makes me want to download it to see for myself.

It is an xposed module capable of spoofing some of the identities of an Android device.
Customise the identities to your own choices!
Download Free version : http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.intplus.freehijack
Download Premium version : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intplus.hijackid
https://youtu.be/8k9OgoB0Ay8
Below are the supported identities :
- Android Id
- Serial Number
- IMEI
- MAC address
- Device build number
- Kernel version string
Another interesting option available is, ability to randomize the identity for different processes.
It just hijacks the identities on the fly. Hence the original valules are not modified.
Once the app is disabled, get back all the original ids.
How to use!
You need to have an android device which is rooted and has Xposed framework installed.
Open Hijack Suite and enter custom values for the identities.
Press save.
Goto Xposed installer app.
Enable 'Hijack suite'
Reboot the device.
View the customized values being replaced at places where they are tried to fetch.(Check using different apps.)
Observe the behaviour of the app under test by changing the id values.

Hey man, great idea!
Would it be possible to also spoof the kernel version string?

Hi,
Glad you liked it.
I think it should be possible too. Let me learn a little bit on that...
Thanks!
Brilliant
So this is like xprivacy or PMP?

Hi Antieco,
Checked these 2 apps. They are wonderful apps for personal privacy management.
I just imagined Hijack Suite as a security testing tool and developed it.
Concentrated on spoofing the device identities to apps instead of preventing access to them.
Yes, it can be treated like xprivacy or PMP.
But when you approach mine as a privacy tool, I think xprivacy and PMP are doing much better.
Also they have a lot of other features.

Does the app makes a backup from original IMEI, MAC address, Device build number, and is it restorable.
Some reports from other similar apps that they couldnt restore default data

It sounds like a good feature, I should add.
As of now, you can revert back to original identities by disabling this module within xposed installer app.
Note : You will need a reboot once, after the module is disabled.
I could have really used this module last year for a little project I did. I wound up decompling an APK to do what I wanted. I'd suggest adding phone number as another ID value. Would be very valuable in my opinion.

Don't wanna be rude, but is there any way to get the premium version for free? I'm kinda limited. But I can offer my services as an app tester.

A short question:
When you go to Turkey and use a Turkish SIM card, your phone will be blocked after 6 or 7 weeks. They do that so that you can't import phones.
Only way to use it again is to activate the IMEI somewhere, but you need a Turkish passport and pay money to do so.
Since I'm often going to Turkey I always have to search for other smartphone (taking one from my family or friends).
May it be possible that they can't block the phone when using the app? Or is it only useful for installed apps?
I have a very old Nokia phone which is active, I may be able to use the IMEI of it.
bought pro version, didn't change anything on my phone n910c with stock ROM Android M and H Vitamin Kernel

Hi,
It will spoof the IMEI number to other apps only or the programs that take OS help to get the identity.
Network providers will be able to collect original number using their own channel.

I got a Samsung j7 phone I want to backup. Not interested on passing the information to a new phone but I want to have every call log and text currently in it. I want to pass it to my Windows 10 PC and be able to view and read the info on the PC. Looking for an open source or free software to be able to make this without any spyware or malicious ware on it. Thanks in Advance!

I could be wrong, but, I don't think any such thing exists and I don't think it can even be done the way you want it.

Yes, absolutely, there are options for backing up data, I wasn't saying that backing up or restoring that data couldn't be done.
The part about using something that will let you backup to PC and be able to read the internal content while on PC is what I was replying to.

Search for wondershare mobilego version 7+ or 8+ install with the crack tool. Though the software have been discontinued but is very useful. It will do your work for you. The crack tool attach to is not harmful only when you get it from right source.

Thanks for the info, even if it is discontinued. It is ilegal right? Still looking for options
Android stores text messages and call logs in SQLite databases.
You can pull them by means of ADB to your PC and there view them by means of a SQLite reader. For example call logs are located here:
/data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db
