Hey everybody. I wanted to share an application with you people, its not developed by me. This app simply speeds up your GPS lock using the old gps.conf method. Yeah yeah I know this method is old but this was the only app which actually worked for me. I now don't touch AGPS and use my integrated GPS receiver. I am at my relatives place in another town. I flashed a new ROM and tried this app, it reduced my first fix time from 5 minutes (earlier at Gurgaon) to 39 seconds, YES 39 SECONDS! Completely new First Fix in 39 seconds. its an pretty old trick ..... it is like specifying to which area\country\region u live in ... so that the gps locates the device faster (because it knos ur in that region)
use root explorer to edit the file .. or kust downlond frm the play store
Thunder, this line means that you can use root explorer and edit the gps.conf file in system\etc\ directory and add the line given to decrease you GPS fix time. Out specifies which server to use and the satellite then knows that you are in India and it locates you faster.

This will make it much faster for Indians I can get lock in like 5 seconds if net is ok & accuracy of 10m or less even when range is nearly 0 For other countries, Search Google for "Your Country" + NTP Server, and add the servers you get replacing the asia and india servers ive posted here Keep everything else as it is

Do I copy paste the entire thing instead of just one line?
Yup replace the entire gps.conf with that Just make sure that,if you copy it to windows to make edit, you use a Unix Compatible editor

Dude, I believe you are not from India. So you can download the app given in the link in the first post. Then set your continent and region, the app will automatically write the relevant lines to your GPS.Conf and speed up GPS lock. It even backs up your old conf file just in case. The line I specified is only for India. But the app works worldwide

Ya the stock FW. I debloated it as much as I could. I will test it soon. Reduced size from 533 MB to 420 MB. Wanna reduce it further but I have deleted a lot of apps already. I even deleted some useless ringtones. I intend it to be a base to install custom ROM installation and an alternative for FTF.
People like me, whose flashtool doesn't function well on flashmode can use this

I want to add Brains Kernel directly. It is prerooted, so i presume the OS gets rooted already. So could you tell me how to add his Kernel. I have the elf file, now what?
Maybe I could tell people to download the flashable version of his kernel, flash that with CWM, then reboot into recovery and install my kernel-less stock ICS. That way they'll have stock FW with modded kernel. Then they can proceed with custom ROM's. Would that be good ??

Dont flash CSC,amss_phone .That way you could save your radio as well .!!!!
Yes!. I flash the phone. Sorry kara but the rom is still too green. In the first hour, the phone reboot one time and freez two times. It is more fast than the official KD4. Very smooth. Recently freez when i copying my music to the phone.Anyway...the phone run like forrest.I feel sorry return to the previous rom but the phone reboot and freez too much.

OK .But you were too hasty to revert back . **** I wanted to run some tests .Do you have Set CPU .Change governor to Conservative that fixes the reboot cycle.
USB transfer has hitches you say .Hmm very interesting ,but it's a start and we need people to point out bugs .
How you can help : --
1.)Just use this ROM for four hours .
2.)Use SetCPU,Ti backup , and any other busybox based app together .
3.)Shut down the phone and check whether the screen switches off.
4.)Use Link2SD/dta2SD on ext4 partition of SD card

Well the more bugs we find ,the more will be patched . use the SEt CPU on boot to avoid further loops.

aside from bluetooth, ive experienced d phone resetting itself after uninstalling a system app thru ti-b. didnt do that before the switch. the same thing goes when i do a group install using easy installer. you also hve to install setcpu first before running easy installer since the phone will hang and reset if you dont.

I specifically created it for people who know to use Odin.
I can post a tutorial but there are serious legal issues involved in publishing the tutorial without the permit of samsung.
Odin is used as Level 1 repair tool in samsung !!!
You can head to samfirmware.com and they have flash guide specifically for 551.
We cant make a stable version if dont know what makes this version unstable.

On the other hand, system apps would include Market, Bookmark and Messaging apps. I normally remove TW and exchange it with ADW Launcher EX.
Hope we can resolve the bluetooth issue soon. Im still stress testing ur rom. Will upd8 1s I see more. I really like the 667 feature.
What freq did u uas default? It seems a little unstable imho.

667 Mhz since three days . Never crashed and lets be honest .I have a standard 30 app test(I use only 30-40 apps regularly ).If those 30 apps work then the phone seems to work for me.I cant test all 100000 apps on the phone you know !!!
As a matter of fact I just uninstalled Twlauncher and Samsung apps .No hitch noticed !!!

I have a rough idea of what has happened.It is a serious bug ..WIll have to push the release of 0.4 forward .
I'll try to perform a data/cache wipe once I get home and redo my system app settings.

Hello there.
I played around with the bootsound thingy and have made a hopefully nice bootsound for our froyocomb and CyaNoComb installation.
All you need is one of this rom with its appropriate honeycomb-like bootanimation.
And of yourse these CWM-installable packages:
One to install that Bootsound
and one to remove if you don't like.
If you currently have made a dalvik or cache cleanup the sound may not match with the animation, of course.

put this in init.local.rc just add it to the lines that are already there

now your mp3 will begin when boot animation begins

if you want the file "bootsound" somwhere else like in /system/etc just put it there and edit this line in init.local.rc

Meh ^^ nope. That "recommended" version via that init.local.rc one was what I tried first.
Under whatever circumstances this file is not executed/read on bootup. Either this works nor:

says bootsound is established as a service. in this init.local.rc is also another "service called "compcache" and this service is also not listed in

Thus I combine this init.local.rc is not read.
I also tried chenging permissions of that init.local.rc (0,0,755) but this all makes no sense and I stopped going deeper there and used the init.d version that worked
I guess I've to grep the PID of stagefright and then kill it after 21 seconds (the sound runs 20 seconds) ;O. That would be an ugly hack and that's why I am looking for a better solution.
Why dont you guys simply include into ramdisk?, anyway ramdisk gets extracted on each boot
After you guys figure out a elegant solution for this, would be nice to see a version for Slade's CM.

My first hand on ramdisk made me a lucky backup-restore-guy
Well, I'd like to have it "add on like" so changes in ramdisk would more or less mean there is no nice way back if you decide you don't like it.
Well, let's find out why this "init.local.rc" file is not read or which alternative 'persistant' file can be used as init one.

I am working on it.
I have enabled ICS like system wide spellchecker service similar to in CM9.
I have modified system apks (framework.jar and settings.apk) attached with this email; and replace them in its respective location
Steps to update
1) go to task manager and clear memory
2) using root explorer copy and over-write Settings.apk in \system\app folder
3) using root explorer copy framework.jar in \system\framework\ folder
3) Reboot phone
4) go to Settings -> Language and Input -> spelling correction -> Android correction and select it
and all is set
Note: you need to have AOSP ICS keyboard to have this service; you can also install any third party spellchecker service as this feature is enabled in framework
This mod is tested on stock and wanamlite roms.
Please send me framework.jar and settings.apk to enable it on custom rom with modified framework and settings;

Not much code
Actually Samsung has removed Spellchecker Service Classes from framework; and also write a extension/override method to check if spell checked ; It was always returning false.
other change is in Settings.apk where they have removed a XML for Spellcheker setting xml from it.
Rest all code for spellchecker framework was there ; and its very tedious task for Samsung to remove every trace of it so they just make above changes to disable it ; rest spell checker things were present.
I just make changes to that method IsSpellCheckerEnabled() mehtod and returned True from it; with Samsung Code it always return False; and with Google code it checks from setting and return appropriate status;
other change in Settings.apk; I added that missing XML file;
that's it;
I haven't added missing spell checker service files; as it wil need also need a dictionary . however these classes were also available in CM9 keyboard; with dictionary. once framework is enabled it can utilize any of the available spellchecker service.

This empty space is for user dictionary which can do editing of custom words; but this class is not available in Samsung ROM; and I am not getting enough time embed a new class/functionality in it; I will try to do it for next release;
I've been looking for this for a while and I would appreciate if you could modify mine's. I leave them attached.

Wanamlite is already using my mode in his ROMs ; I am not sure about Arabic once;

Please patch it for us
I disabled it on my latest V12, it causes a contacts name completion issue on Email app and maybe on some other apps.
EDIT : @Pawandeep : is there any way to disable it on some fields like browser address bar, search fields with completion enabled.

I am am not sure about 11.9 or 12 release "English" and it was present; even I am using same rom.
anyways I will enable it you you ; have you tied files attached with first post; it was working fine on 11.7 of wanamlite; it should also work with latest rom also as he didnt change much;

To be honest bro i am not sure about using them in my ROM!
My file sizes differ from the one you are including in your post; besides it's a different rom base! It includes arabization even for the menus and everything (not only can read/write like any other ICS rom) so i think it won't work!
If it's a hard job for you man drop it! I'll live without it!

yes we can do that; but you have to modify that particular APK ;
we need to change the input type attributes of text as follows
android:inputType="textNoSuggestions"
and in case of multiline it should be
android:inputType="textMultiLine|textNoSuggestions"
probably in layout xmls or in code

I would really appreciate if you can elaborate a bit on the modification part. I am a normal user and don't know anything about this exercise. But the spell check option is the only reason makes me use CM. Please help.

Reality ROM for the Lumia 710
Reality ROM is based on Nokia firmware 7.10.8858.136[All the OEM apps are intact]
WHY THIS ROM?
I'm sure this question arises to everyone's mind when they see yet another custom rom. Well, I cannot answer that question, simply because each of your requirements from a ROM would be different from mine. I've been using Dynamics ROM so far, the reasons why I chose to build a rom were:
1:The project was closed, which meant no more cab updates to minor changes, tweaks or to add any other custom packages to increase functionality. It really put me off, since if i had to install anything in the future i would have to reinstall a different rom anyway, thought I might as well do it now, before i have alot of personal data accumulated.
2:I loved the Clock Hub at the start, it looked good and I thought it was of great use. However after a few days, I never really used it, i personally felt returning to the start screen from an app just to look at the time/battery level wasn't very feasible considering no fast app switching. And hence resulting in some unneeded battery drain due to frequent tile update.
3:Cache clearer never really seemed to work for me
4:I messed up my Bluetooth drivers installing DFT drivers and my Bluetooth share stopped working lol, tried everything to fix it, at the end, only solution i found was to reflash.
5:So when i thought about reflashing, reinstalling all the apps[especially the homebrew apps] all over again seemed very annoying. [I'll put up a guide, how to quickly get your rom up and running with all apps next]
So to counter all this, I made this ROM for myself, thought i'd share it with people who wanna use it as well.
Features of Reality ROM
It's based on the original firmware with a minimal of changes, added some applications[homebrew] to maximize, functionality without having to compromise on performance. Connectable with Zune without any issues
-Full Unlock v4 by ultrashot
-Cab Updateable [Cab updates are fully supported in this ROM. Any cab updates which are signed by ultrashot,xbmod,Rataplan,MSFT and myself are all supported. So you no longer have to depend only on the ROM creator for cab updates but you can update the rom using any of the other developer's[mentioned above] cab's]
-Added ProgramManager in Settings[Remove any of the apps, pack to xap etc]
-Added XAP Deployer[Deploy XAP's to device]
-Added Search Key Remapping[Added to Settings menu]
-Added WMDC[Access Filesystem, Use WPBackup etc]
-Added WP7 Root Tools[Latest version 1.0]
-Added ScreenCapturer[Take screenshots]
-Added Bazaar[Homebrew Market]
-Added WPHTweaks
-Added Digital Power[View battery percentage next to the battery icon, swipe from top[works even inside most apps]. Configure in the app and restart phone

-Added Folders[Group apps and pin live tile to start screen for quick access to multiple apps]
-Added MPATool[Used to add Artist pictures, beautifies the lock screen when a song is played]
-Added Touch Wake[Use hardware buttons to unlock]

HOW DO I INSTALL AND SET UP EVERYTHING?
1:Backup your application data using WPBackup
-Just backup your App Data only[distributive is unnecessary, preferably backup only your data of games]. Install the rom, install those applications/games and then restore your backup

CAB UPDATES
Cab updates are fully supported in this ROM. Any cab updates which are signed by ultrashot,xbmod,Rataplan,MSFT and myself are all supported. I'll try and post any cab's I create and links to some others here so that you can customize it to your needs
First and foremost, a lot of cab's once applied cannot be removed from your device unless you reflash the ROM, so make sure you want the cab update on your phone before doing it. However some of them will be removable, and feel free to test them out on your ROM.
CAB'S LIST:
To update to the latest version, install cab's 1 and 2 posted below one after the other to fix the live tile issues.
1:WP 7.8 OS UPDATE (7.10.8858.136 - 7.10.8860.142)
2:WP 7.8 OS UPDATE (7.10.8860.142 - 7.10.8862.144)
3:THEMES.CAB[Adds custom backgrounds to your phone, however the number of accent colors on your phone reduces. Its the same as the backgrounds present on Rataplan's ROM v4. THIS CAB CANNOT BE REMOVED]

Please try again, idk why its not working, because its working fine for me here. However I'm uploading it on devhost atm. ~50mins left to for the upload to finish[slow internet :x]. Shall update with the new link soon, stay tuned.

Yes, I just figured it out. there's a problem with mediafire links. Like I said my internet connection is being really slow. I am uploading it on dev host at the moment

so far: everything is working tested some of the tweaks and apps and really good maybe you could include more accent colors? i dont like the nokia blue that much that i dont change it after 1 year
Sure, that would help alot. Can you upload it on dev-host? The unzipped file.
Also I've added 20 accent colors, which is default by WP7.8, didn't really want to make alot of changes as it would only make it more unreliable. However you can always use cab updates to add them yourself, there are plenty available. Lot of them are signed using xbmod, and you can apply those cabs without any problem at all giving you ultimate customization without having to reflash the rom

Like i told you, open the file RealityROM.zip and extract to desktop and you'll get the os-new.nb file which you can then flash using the lumia downloaded.
And thank you for uploading, just finished mine too. Uploaded the single os-new.nb file itself

after downloading the file splitter and joiner program, just open the Uphoria v1.zip.001 with it. It will join both the files.
if any problem to download the program from the website, then do tell me. I will upload the .exe file
now backing up my current system, I will flash by flashtool and try your rom. when tested some time I will write some feedback.

the message "error occured while tethering" was there since i flashed the .89 fw by Tim_Italy....its ws still there even after i flashed the stock fw .54...so i dnt knw wether every1 will get the msg or nt...after that i also changed the SI version and flashed it the clean way (through PCC) but it ws still there...even that had a lot of bloatware...m currently running it on .54 without any prob
jst to inform...this rom ws originally built on .89 so has the build.prob of .89 but i have been running this rom since a week or so on .54 without any issues

My first mpressions on your rom are than i feel inspired with the framework and the themes,he wallpaper choose in all themes are good and brilliant.
My suggestions for next rom are if you can put aroma installer and put elements how cybershot 5.7.2 is really good ( in my old rom ) and update your build.prop with the last JDWalker 1.9 build.prop seems amazing brilliant results. If you can put a choose in aroma for governors, maybe can add more stability and battery friendly ( deppend on own chroose.

No bro im only experience the bug with the turqoise theme but not a problem at all, all the rest ar0e good for me, if you can delete othe apk's( i considered any apks how bloatware ) but dont worry all can delete the undwanted apks haha.
If you can,can add an option in aroma for debloat completly your rom. ( in my choice i delete thoose apk, all related with other keyboards except voice search and the original keyboard xperia, maps, street, talkback, and other i dont remember, i delete apks from / data partition. Your rom now is light and fuctional for me

thanks...and i was about to debloat it but nt every1 would like apps like timescape and all gone, so i thought that i will add an option for it in the v2 of it with aroma...this is just an experimental version to test my ROM...the future version would be much more stable and better

I've managed to get a temp solution bypassing sony ericsson supl server. Goes like this:
Change your gps.conf file, in SUPL_HOST=supl.sonyericsson.com > SUPL_HOST=supl.vodafone.com
and change your cacert.txt file in /etc/suplcert/ by my attachment.
About joining the 2 files, if you use linux, you can join them manually by:
cat FILEONE.001 FILETWO.002 > JOINFILE.ZIP
easy huh?
BTW: just downloaded this ROM, but i'm trying a little more another. In about a week or so I'll post a review here

Turqiouse Theme Fix
1. download the attachment
2. replace it with the BlueTheme.apk in system/vendor/overlay/framework
3. set permissions to RW R R
4. Reboot
"Error occurred during tethering" appears whenever tethering is put on with data off.
So, IMO there's nothing to fix unless you just want the notification to not appear. Tethering works anyway.
