I saw a website where sense 4 has been ported to the galaxy S II... it was in the beta stage... Does anyone know if it's a successful rom yet? Or if its been dropped or what? Just curious.

This has been tried many times and always ends with most things not working due to needing closed sourced HTC drivers and lib files. Without them this will never come to a full 100% working rom.

That sucks :/ my friend wanted an HTC phone because of the clock and she had all these crappy imitation widgets so I eventually found this project but then when looking on here I found nothing about it I'm thinking about buying a back up phone... I have the HTC One XL and like how light the Samsung phones are! And when the screens break the are very small cracks and don't really bother anything.... Maybe ill see you guys in these forums more often one day thank you everyone for all of your help

i upgraded from a droid x to the Rezound after speaking with some verizon reps about the Nexus and i am glad i went with it. Defiantly a lot more involved in terms of unlocking/rooting and flashing ROMS compared to the Droid X(IMO anyway) but it's a great phone with great hardware.

With Jelly Bean and all of its great features which makes it pretty much the fastest Android platform ever, owners of recent hardware are wondering just*when will the latest Google platform be released for their phones. In case of the*Samsung*Galaxy*S III, rumor has it that Samsung is already allegedly finished the refresh and should be pushing it out in August or September. The*Samsung*Galaxy*S*II, while not a fresh hardware, is still a very popular Android phone (and one of the two most popular Samsung phones). Same report claims that Samsung has started testing the Android 4.1 update on the Samsung Galaxy S II. While there is no further information out there (nor official) we’re left wondering; there SGSIII update is certain (the only question is when) while the SGSII refresh will definitely be a nice touch for the millions of owners out there.

Yeah but we don't really need ATT. As long as Sammy is working on the international version and releases source, we can get it together for the i777. Still, its up to Samsung at this point.

This is the update I was told about by tech support when I kept complaining about SIM card problems to Verizon after I borked (voice service, sms/mms suddenly stopped working while lte worked fine) my launch day device. I had insurance through a kiosk store so in order to avoid a refurb with 2.04 installed I plunked down $75 deductible for a brand new rootable replacement (so glad I did!). I literally had to physically damage it in order to do so even though the only thing wrong was no voice service. Anyway... The sales rep at the kiosk told me Sense5 (Android 4.2) is expected soon as well in another OTA update, but I wonder why they wouldn't have just put these updates together? Something does smell a bit fishy here.
I haven't had any SIM errors with my replacement so I'll steer around this one for now... How does Sense5 (4.2) sound for the DNA with an official release? Newt's port is pretty impressive but an official version might just smooth things out even more. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but why would VZW update the DNA if a newer device like the One is around the corner using Sense5? Wouldn't it make more "sense" to hold off on the 4.2 update to make us all want new phones? I heard they weren't going to carry it but who knows?

Because it's 1000x easier to make a update to fix 1 specific thing and have it approved by verizon then it is to essentially rewrite everyrhing and have months of back and forth between Verizon and HTC.

I'm beginning to lose hope that the bootloader is going to be unlocked. Not because the devs here aren't fantastic - they are undoubtedly incredible. But based on my prior experiences with locked phones, this one seems to be unusually challenging. So what do folks think the odds are at this point?

I am not totally sure, but I felt the CM team was indicating something in the way Google was implementing security and the code that really allows things to be done without the intrusion of root. I am not a developer and likely never would acquire the skills to be more than a guinea pig for them (don't mind) and I learned a lot from folks here especially with my HTC One DE which was a rockin device. I just wished AT&T service was better in my area and I could live with it. Some day I will likely try them again but I just can't do it right now. The big reason I did was to get unlocked phones, but given the sheer lack of LTE for US on the international phones its clear the OEM's are NOT making global phones on LTE today. It could be 10 years before we truly see global LTE phones.
Personalty, It's not about CM to me, I wasn't full access to my phone, if I have HTC I was S-OFF, if this phone I was the boot loader unlock.
Things take time and money, check the bounty, who knows for all I know they have a boot loader unlock and are waiting for it to hit $10G or some other number.
It's hard to say really. But I hope that Verizon still allows their HTC phone to at least get HTC -Dev unlock to allow custom recovery and ROM-Ming, and as for Samsung, if a Dev. edition is the only option, I will buy the phone for at Verizon (whatever one I can sell for the most on Swappa), sell it, make about enough money to buy the Dev. edition at only $200 after selling the device.
Just some ranting, sorry.
I was browsing xda and ran across quite a few devices that have ubuntu touch os in development/working on their devices! I forgot how gorgeous it looked when the developer preview came out, I was truly looking forward to a working daily driver, back when I have the vzw Samsung galaxy S3. Never happend... I was wondering, does anyone plan on working inv something like this? Is there something for the G3 already? (I Google searched, xda searched, to no avail) I would love to see this on our device! We have a big community and I know people would jump on board to get this on there phones.
Id love to see that as well! Hopefully someone pick it up!

Oh haha
Verizon (and others) and Samsung are hurting themselves by locking down the device hard which is killing developer interest so I seriously doubt it. And the developer version is unsubsidized and hard to find.
Same thing as the S3. Once Verizon locked it developers started to drop like flys...
