[Q] How to make a game work on android - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I was wondering is it possible to make an online pc game work on android ?
Unfortunately I can't post links but if you search youtube for "Awplanet android" it would be the first video
^ This video was made 3 years ago so this game no longer exist on an android platform because someone made it without the creators permission and sold it for money so it was taken down
Can it be made to work on android again ?

Obviously if it got taken down it would not be smart to make it available again for android, mainly because it is probably going to get taken down again.

and you thought celebrities weren't smart. =P

I don't want to sell it but use it myself

If they don't want their game on android you don't have any business trying to port it to your phone. They own it and are free to do (or not do in this case) whatever they want with it.

I would trade it for SII but for S? No way!!
i change my s8500 for galaxy s.
For ACE?
No. It has got Qualcomm MSM7227 as AP, what almost excludes ability to port Bada in there, at least for me.
It's pretty "easy" (by this I mean less than 100 hours of work) achievable for SGS series.
Wave M?
I think the hardware of the Ace is verry similar to the new Wave M.. Just try it to port when the Wave M has been released.. The Wave M will be the middle class of the Waves, like the Ace of the Galaxy-series. (like the differences between s8500 and i9000)
Thats why I traded my old Wave for a LG Optimus Black. Maybe it has a bit powerless hardware, but it runs a full stable Android and it works like a charm.
So goodbye Bada, I moved into Android.
i like this
people get what they want, this is future, doesnt matter if with bada or not, by sly i remember your posts

well done
I moved because I'll move all my entire devices to Android if its possible. I have an Eken M009s tablet (which I use in the university for downloading ebooks and PDFs) and a pair of Android phones, a ZTE Blade (I recommend it if you want to get a cheap and good Aphone, with its Adreno200 and 512 RAM) and my Optimus Black.
After having an Iphone 2G, a few Symbian's Nokia and a LG KS20 with Windows Mobile, I can't doubt it: Android is the best phone for a technogeek like me

Android isnt a phone its an OS very important for people that dont know that and read this.
We like here to use the right declarations of such things, this would either confuse users that dont know it right.
Wont you need the BADA source code?
The reason why android can be ported (if not completely because there are chip driver issues like modems not working etc) is because its open source...
To port BADA to any device wont you need the source code to work with?
Samsung is holding bada's source code and i dont think they will open source it at all even if it uses some opensource code.
They did pay for the right to use opensource code into a proprietory system.

WOW like i said befor bada os it's an awsome os and bada 2.0 even more awsome then all oses togeter only thing that it is missing is devlepers and apps and APPS
and then the all world will be using bada os and not symbain (yack!!!!!!!!!) or Ios(realy stupid OS and to complacte togeter that it's making it usless) or Android (i like android to but there isn't something special in it)
or windows phone 7 (what the F#$# is that why we need it )
so i thanking you for add support to show samsung that it had to foucse on bada os from the start and not go to other oses
bada os ruls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in the future will be bada os for tablets and PC because it actuly have a linux core
I think he is the only one man in the world, who wants badaOS on his ace So don't make big conclusions.
so now it is over, this is more than only offtopic, leave the guy when he is unhappy with android you all should imagine that he can decide which os he will, and why you all always so putting him down.
i cannot get you all, its near a kindergarden what you make here, ok? we shuld now let this thing behind, otherwize i will make here directly an anti android campagne to show the users what is bad about to use it.
when all are fair i will also stay fair, when this thing goes on wrong direction than we all only can be opponents.
i am trying now to finish this childisch diskussion.
--------------------
in the bada section one person discuess about posting ... between dev topics, and you all here are putting unaccassary thinking which nobody is here interested and so disturbing the devs.

larioteo if ur gunna post in threads that are wrote in english ffs at least make sure it makes sense or just dont bother wtf is the point wasting peoples time writing stuff that makes no sense at all just like anyone who would rather have a ****ty out of date boring BADA fone than a bad boi all singing all dancing wow factor open sorce developers dream machiene android one get a brain cell n use it to learn english or at least to make sure u no wot ur talkin about b4 u post it coz u obviously havnt got a clue if u prefer BADA to android !!!!!!!
The problem its not porting but the complexe off boot and 2 level Os or 3 maybe make's bada verry verry complexe to dissasemble and also to porting we realy need open source then works maybe 6month for realy works, verry verry complexe !!!

[Q] benefit to rooting phone?

I'm trying to convince someone to root there phone and need to know the benefits to rooting. (Every time I try my points aren't good enough.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Samsung galaxy s2
Rom: Jedi knight 6
kernel: Jedi kernel 2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tell them they might as well buy an Apple product if they don't want to root.
But seriously, it has the potential for so much more. Custom mods, faster software, backups.. and more
Custom ROM's.
This is a big one esp. if they have a terrible carrier skin.
Doesn't matter what it is, stock android blows their crap away.

[Q] Need help understanding android

Hello folks, i'm new to this forum and new to the world of smartphones. own a windows phone but have an inquiry about android which i'm sure my genious brothers here will have an answer to. if i buy an android device that has android 2.3 gingerbread and is not upgradeable to version 4.0 ICS, will the apps work fine on the phone. i have the habit of using my phones for atleast 2 years. so if i'm using an android 2.3 version phone for the next 2 years, will the apps work on my phone? like they wont ask for update of the operating system of the phone?
like in Iphone you need to have the last ios to install and use instagram. is the same case with android too?

Google will be phasing out old versions of android, and developers may make the switch to newer android systems as well. Currently, about 60-80% or more of the apps currently can support Gingerbread, since Gingerbread devices make up 50% of android devices in the world. (More info here.) I figure, your phone could probably be supported for another year.
If you are clinging on to a phone for 2 years, get a good one! Most ICS Android devices are not too expensive. If your phone is a popularly branded one (Samsung, HTC, Motorola), and if you are willing to take risks, you might be able to upgrade the firmware in your machine, unofficially though.
Now let me type this out for you....
Every time Google releases a new os they release the platform sdk along with the actual source code.... Next developers download these and start building their apps.... Assume that you are a developer and you set the build sdk to a higher android version say ICS then if your phone is on gb you can't run it so it is at the helms of the developers to decide to support an older platform or not.... And forward compability is possible in android reverse compability may or may not work.... Any doubts post it below I would be happy to respond sir...

What's the budget? There are a bunch of xperias with ics (some even upgradable to jb).
There are plenty cheap stock ICS phones, built by LG and Samsung, such as the Galaxy Ace. Look around for the best value for money.

lulz. bad advice. the galaxy ace came default with froyo, upgradeable to gingerbread, but if anyone buys it now it'll came default with gingerbread.
but definitely not came default with ics and not upgradeable to it either, officially.
i own one previously.
imho ace is not what op is looking for. by todays standard, amv6 phone is a big no-no.

[Q] Can i make my phone work this way? Smoother?

Hi all,
I feel my phone just too laggy, even with good rom like JB or ICS.
My point is, the iphone is so smooth, sorry for the comparison, but i feel a bit disappointed because i thought my phone, with a dual core at 1.5ghz should beat my old iphone 3gs way too much. But now it seems i cannot even run two application that everything start lagging and the responsivness of the phone freeze.. It's just so annoying.. Don't tell me "then take the iphone" because i hate it, infact i bought an android after, i can;t change nothing pratically and they're way too much expensive..
So i read an article how the iphone works. When you are using an app all the resources are used by that app. The other processes and apps get ibernated. So, why android can't work that way, i thought. Is it possible to prioritize to the max the app i'm using right now and ibernate (or freeze, i think they mean the same) the others in the RAM until i switch to that app..
Is it possible?
P.S.
I've already read the article that explains why android will never be as smooth as the iphone, because the ios have a special dedicated process for the graphics so everything is rendered in real time.. i've also read that it's impossible for android because it's too late too change the way android works..
I'm noob on this so please be patient.. Thanks!
There are apps that do this, look out up on Google. You will be fine.

this is the only wave 2 rom still regulary updated. But it's android 4.2.2, and data through network (2g+, 3G, 3G+) don't work in it. (neither do GPS).
You can find a 2.0/2.3 rom for wave 2, but it will be olds roms, and sms, calls, and many other things won't work (if I remember well there weren't even a working battery gauge in it)...
So I guess the best solution if you want android on a wave 2 is this rom.

But the truth is the Android 2.0or2.3 for wave is only surpot wave I,it even didnt have display driver,so you cant see anything on wave II srceen by that old ROMs.And for Wave II,there's only one Android ROM you can use , it's CM-10.1 by volk204.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2400126
