I rooted my GTab on New Year's Eve. I then installed CM 10.1 (4.2.1) from the 1/1/13 nightly. I have a couple of problems that maybe you can help me with.
1. Google Now doesn't work. I can swipe up from the home button and then Google Now starts up. It paints the screen. I even see two cards show up with the scores of the Lakers and Clippers. Then it immediately closes. Happens every time. I've tried doing a force close and clearing the data. Same result. Is this a known issue in CM 10.1? Or are there solutions to this problem
2. Sound. Specifically via headphone jack. First, let me say, the sound through the speakers is fantastic. Loudest it's ever been on my Tab. However, via the headphone jack it's very low by comparison. I connect a set of powered speakers (2.1) via the headphone jack and I can't get a lot of volume. It's not loud enough to hear while in the shower. While yesterday when I was still on stock ICS it was plenty loud. I've tried a number of settings in the DSP app and I've even installed Volume+ which I also own. Nothing helps the volume. Where do I go next?
google now is known issue, you didnt read all info about cm10.1 before flashing it.

Thanks for the reply. You are correct that I didn't know about the issue. I downloaded CM from GET.CM and there aren't any discussions on that site.
Since there aren't many 4.2 choices for the Tab (I prefer AOKP instead if AOSP) I chose to install CM 10.1. If I could find an AOKP ROM I'd install it in a minute.
Loss of Google Now is not a huge issue as I have it on my phone. However, the earphone sound problem is an issue. If I can't get that fixed I may have to return to ICS.
well i think its only a matter of time that google now will work and sound issue, last nightlies are not for people who search for best stable experience of android. I have nightly20130101 and the only one problem is that 3d games dont work, and I dont know why

Thanks for the reply. I'm not necessarily looking for the most stable version. I've been using nightlies on my GNex phone for almost a year. I've also tried about 10 different ROMS, but that the nature of a Nexus device, there are LOTS of choices.
This was my first jump into a custom ROM for my GTab and the purpose of this thread was to see if I was missing something. I'll load nightlies looking for fixes to my problems going forward.
Is the recommend site to see the change log?
look in the android development on xda there is all info about nightlies, another site is droidbasement.com

My guess is that you flashed gapps from goo inside. There is a known issue using this package causing the Google Now to crash. You'll need to do a full wipe and flash the nightly again with the Wingray gapps I posted in the OP.
As far as sound goes, I need to test with the headphones jack, only been using bluetooth lately since everything I got during christmas was bluetooth related. I did noticed though with bluetooth, sometimes I need to turn the vol down then up and it all of the sudden gets louder.
See if this helps too https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.controlapp&hl=en
Update: just tested with Klipsch S4, sound is great! I am using the voodoo I posted so that might helped.

Guys Im experiencing two major annoying problem which I have no Idea where it came from...
1. Once I Listening to music with headsets if any1 msg me or any notification come up the music will play on Speakers for a second and again come back to headphones.
2. again the time of listening to music while Im browsing or tapping on something the Music volume Increases Suddenly alot for a short time and again comes down.
(for example I open another application while music plays in background, or I only on or off anything like wifi, it cause music volume increase for a second and lower down again)
It really starts to suffer me I have tried many things such as using different Kernels, Flashing Roms, Reset Factories, Using Different Players...
HELP!
Is this happening with regular headphones on or a bluetooth headset of some kind?
I dont think you can do anything about the message alert apart from putting it in silent, but have you tried turning down or off your system volume?
I have this same problem. Like if I'm listening to music and lock the screen, each button i press for my pin it will go louder for that moment i press a number. Then, when i open a program, it goes louder at that point as well. Really strange.
Problem Source
I'm Using SuperRom v2.0 on my i9100G.
Another people experiencing the same problem got told me its the Rom Problem and Must be fixed within the Rom by developer.
I don't have any issued using bluetooth headset. Try upgrading to ICS

So it only happens using SuperRom? I misunderstood your first post and thought you had tried other roms. If that's the case, you definitely need to wait for the rom dev to fix it.
As for ICS, it's almost here. I'm running ICS (AdyScorpiusMIUI) right now and it's running very, very well. But I would wait until something stable is released.

Im not sure its the SuperRom problem or not coz Ive been experiencing the same issue using Juffo Rom.
Yes, MIUI roots are great without any doubt but too bad non of them are supported for i9100G at the moment, only few roms are out for my model. and we cannot install those roms belong to i9100.
I've searched for this problem, found some stuff that is close but I haven't been able to find it exactly.
Speakerphone and built-in microphone work fine.
But when I use my headset (Bose MIE2), the microphone fades in and out when I am on a call. People say it will sound fine and then start to sound "tinny" or like I'm "in a can". Seems like this happens when I stop talking and they speak and the background noise becomes louder to the caller. And it doesn't last. It fades in and out, several times on a call.
This headset worked fine on stock AT&T Gingerbread.
About two months ago, I decided to root my phone for the first time and install a modded ROM. So I flashed CM7. Headphone mic worked fine on CM7.
Bose microphone was also working fine on CM9 - one of the early release candidates.
At that point, flashing became easy so I started on the nightlies (I'm sounding like an addict, aren't I? I feel like one!!!).
Then I found my dream flasher/pusher, Task! I've been on AOKP ROM (currently up to date on the 5.1.2012 release) ever since. Awesome ROM, if you haven't tried it.
Still having the headphone mic issue though.
I've wiped fully several times (yes, I read every post in your thread, Task), trying to clear this up.
I also wondered if the headphones where jacked so I returned them to Bose and the new pair is presenting the same issue.
I have read all about the built-in mic swapping issues with the different kernels.
I've tried NEAK and Siyah and I'm careful to be sure I have the mic swapping versions for AOKP/CM. My phone does not like NEAK at all. Loves Siyah - getting fantastic battery life (14 hours today, 27% screen time and WiFi on all day with 20% battery remaining) and responsive. I'm currently on the latest Siyah ICS [v3.2rc1] with UC 200 to 1000, lulz/vr only. It is also awesome, thanks, Ktoonsez!
I'm wondering if that mic swapping on the phone has anything to do with the mic on the headset.
Also, is there anything else I can check to help troubleshoot this in more detail?
Finally, are there any controls for headphone mics or even microphone settings in ROM Control or anywhere else that can be adjusted?
Thanks for your help in advance!
The NEAK kernel only has one choice for Tasks rom, no need to pick between mic swap.

I'm wishing it was that simple. On NEAK, I've tried the AOSP - still have the issue. My phone freezes too often on that kernel.
On Siyah, I get the mic swap version for AOKP/CM - still having the issue.
The latest Siyah runs like a beast and gets fantastic battery, just has the fading issue.

Hello Folks. Is anyone here familiar with a kernel that has fully functional Bluetooth audio? I have a Jawbone Era headset, & no matter what 4.2.2 ROM/ Kernel combo I flash, I experience the same issue. I can hear the folks on the other end just fine, but they all have trouble hearing me. Flashing back to 4.1 ROMS, resolves this issue for me, but I enjoy & miss the newer features of JB 4.2 ROMS when I do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

same for me
I'm having the same issue but the Bluetooth also causes my phone to slow way down and almost unusable. I did a search and found some others saying they have the same issue but have only seen one "maybe" fix. I tired the fix that included wiping my phone putting it back to stock, doing a factory rest and then reinstalling the rom again. I have tried AOKP, Slimbean, CM10.1, JellyBam, PACman, and SHOstock 3. the only one that I can get to work is the SHOstock 3 but I really like the CM based roms better. anybody have any other ideas on how to fix this right now I am using a 4.1 AOKP because it works just fine. I have also tried different kernels but no matter what my phone with 4.2.2 and Bluetooth just don't get along

I've read that the 4.3 update that may be out soon should have a fix for the low power Bluetooth problems. I say "may" and "should," but there could be a fix on the horizon. I am hoping they can fix it to send metadata so I can see song info on my car stereo.
It appears that the HTC One stock ROMs suffer from the same bluetooth audio distortion that was plaguing the N4 and other AOSP 4.1.x and up ROMs until recently.
Can someone please test some mp3 audio that is:
- Local on their device, bitrate higher than 256kbps
- streaming to a set of good speakers that can reproduce high frequencies well
Play some Led Zeppelin or jazz that has lots of cymbal work, or some vocal music, and listen for distortion on the cymbal crashes or the 's' or 'ch' sounds.
I don't believe it is just me. HTC One Sprint users are reporting the same. I just want to make sure it isn't just them and my unit or something.

I can confirm it does. Had the Nexus 4 and right now I'm using the HTC One (unlocked). Thinking of getting rid of it since my T-Zones does not work with it.

Sigh. 3 steps forward, 4 steps backwards (at least for me). That distortion is terribly grinding on the ears.
CM10.1 will save me! When it is released...
Just FYI, tested with AOSP CM10.1 ROM and the problem is gone. It's definitely a bug that exists in the stock Sense 5 ROM.
I thought I was the only one (no pun) with this issue. It's very annoying. I hope the stock version gets fixed soon.
Anyone with the recent sense updates have any improvement on this front?

Doesn't make a difference. Using the 4.2.2 ROM too. Sorry for the late reply bro.

I have a Sprint HTC One, but the Bluetooth problem is the only reason I keep going back to ViperROM from CM10.1. My Bluetooth (Jawbone ERA) works fine for music and other media sounds, but phone audio is completely messed up. My speech is not getting picked up at all, and the remote party sounds garbled. I also tried disabling the WiFi per your request, but that had zero effect. I went from a 5/27 nightly to 6/19, but the Bluetooth phone audio issue has remained.

I have a T-Mobile HTC One and same deal... had Dirty Unicorns installed and bluetooth music/etc worked great, but phone calls were just a fuzzy, distorted mess. And since I still use my phone for calls (and rely on a headset for work) it was unusable.
Right now I'm rocking a stock rooted ROM since I haven't found a ROM yet that works well enough to be my daily.
Hi everyone!
I've a big problem with my S3 i9300! As you know, Touchwiz ROMs can be appreciated or not for their appearance but one thing is certain: on heavy use or with many apps installed it's a continuous pain to use them. The phone begins to be soooo laggy, to get stuck and so on...
The best solution I always found was to flash Cyano or similar ROMs that give new life to my device. Wonderful, isn't it? Well... it should be like this but... here comes the issue: using Cyano and AOSP ROMs almost 4 times out of 10 calls' audio is VERY DISTORTED... it crackles, buzzes and things like these. it's impossible to understand the interlocutor and he hears my voce in the same way as I hear his one. It's very annoying because it's not an hardware problem... in fact if I flash back to Sammy ROMs it doesn't occur any more! Never! 0 times out of 10! I tried different Cyanos, like official CM11, early unofficial cm12 weekly 6 version, recent blisspop... always the same result!
PLEASE HELP ME, I WANT TO GET BACK MY PHONE SMOOTHNESS! :crying:
Annoyingly I've had this intermittent issue like yourself for years as well. Never found a solution, did you ever find a fix?
Done the usual clean builds, clear cache, change modem etc. Still no fix as you said unless reverting back to official Sammy 4.3 ROMs.
