Hello, I have an HTC Amaze 4g running stock rom and on ics. I am trying to flash the faux kernel but when I try to flash it using 4EXT it starts the process then says
(Status 7)
Installation Aborted.
I dont know why it wont flash and have looked for help everywhere but they all say the same thing. Can someone help me? Also after I flashed the kernel the first time, my wifi stopped working does that have anything to do with it?
First thing to check is, are you S-ON? If so, is smart flash enabled?

I am s-off currently, and smart flash is enabled
Hmmm... I would try re downloading the kernel and seeing if it could have been a bad one before. Other than that someone more knowledgeable will have to help you. Sorry I wasn't more help.

I think I figured out the problem, when I redownloaded the ics kernel from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359951
not all the files where being downloaded to my computer, I am missing the flash.bat file and I think others. Do you know where else I can find this ics kernel with all the files.
http://faux.androidro.ms/ruby/ics/
Here you go.

Yeah Its still giving me the samething, when I open the file winRar tells me unexpected end of archieve
Only files I see are
folders-
kernel
Meta-Inf
Modules
system
What am I missing?
If the download from faux's page doesn't work I don't know what to tell you. It'll take someone with more knowledge than me to help you. Sorry

Uninstall any download managers and download accelerators you may have and try downloading it again. Also try using a different browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome

i don't think you need smart flash if your phone is s-off.. smart flash is for flashing the kernel without s-off.. disable smart flash and try again

Long story short: I soft bricked and went back to stock.
Rooted phone.
Then on rom manager I pressed flash clockwork.
Then selected vibrant. That's where the problem is.
It says error occured when downloading and that's it.
I'm stuck on stock how can I make this work or will it work if someone gives me their update.zip?
Also if that works can someone give me their update.zip?
This is the first time I've had this problem and I haven't heard any similar problems so that's why I'm asking.
Thanks in advance.
Delete update.zip, Uninstall/reinstall cwm and try again on wifi

oh... thanks master, your my favorite user here.
a Developer with so much time.... i love you.
If you are on honeycomb you are free to flash recovery via Rom manager.
If you are on gb I am working on a compatible recovery right now. Once I get it done you will be able to use the features in Rom manager but not flash recovery via Rom manager
confirmed working with Honeycomb htcdev unlocked hboot 1.14.
whats the difference from this one compared to the older one most of us currently run?

any hope on porting a touch based recovery? I think all tabs should have a touch based recovery since the lack of HW buttons
Guessing this still does not allow to use the internal memory for anything?

That is next on my list. I'm hoping to get with doomlord for the touchscreen stuff as the flyer/evo view uses nonstandard calls.

I removed the update zip. It doesn't actually replace recovery. Only soft boots it. Use img file via fastboot

is there anything special we gotta do if we already have the older version? Or can we just use the fastboot command and boom?

Updated OP
I just rooted my view last night.. I flashed recovery once, enough to put the SU file on SD card to root. But since then, I've tried to do a backup (through ROM manager) and the white HTC screen pops up and doesn't go away. So then I tried to do it manually through hboot and when I choose recovery it does the same thing .. what do you think might be the problem? I'm very new to this so I'm hoping it is something simple that I missed... Please help
Here is the HTC Locations app from the international One X I believe, everything seems to work, I didnt try buying any of the premium services though. Footprints is part of Locations, for those looking for that. Flash in recovery...

Works great, thank you! Widget works awesome as well

Thanks. I understand I might be posting in the wrong session, but this is the only thread on XDA that shares HTC Locations. I flashed TWRP Recovery on my device, then when I tried installing Locations-signed,zip, I got error message saying "No md5 file found". If you have solutions to this, I will be greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

There is a setting (I forget exact wording) to ignore md5 check. Set that and you ~ should~ be good to go. You will still see the same message during flash, but it should continue without issue

Been doing that for every question all day, you need to post all your questions in one thread and for every new question post it right in the old thread.
Yes, you can use Rom manager. I use it and I use clockwork recovery. I personally don't care for the other recoveries.

Here's a little tip about rom manager and flashing a recovery through it that many fail to realize until it's too late, lucky for me I got a heads up a while back when I was on the T989, once you flash a recovery via rom manager, you can only boot into that recovery using rom manager, therefore your phone has to boot to be able to use recovery, now, let's say you end up in a bootloop, how are YOU gonna get into recovery to fix your phone? Think about that, we don't have a CWM recovery.img at the moment for you to flash manually if you prefer CWM, but by all means, do as you please, we all have personal preferences and for someone that isn't s-off and isn't too comfortable with the ways of adb, etc as yet, I'd advise the simplest things for now.
Before 4ext was posted and I was on my g2 I used cwm(like everyone else). you were able to boot into recovery same as 4ext. Some had issues but I never did. Is something on this device preventing it from functioning like it did in g2?

Actually for me, once I flash cwm from rom manager, it stayed on my phone. Happened with my nexus 1,s, galaxy s2, and now this phone,..so I guess for some it sticks and others or may not. I say just try it and change if you want to

Not sure what you are talking about. I can get into recovery without going through Rom manager. Through Rom manager was how I got clockwork. I my phone doesn't need to boot to get into recoveryive used it on 4 phones with no problems..

Hi,
I have a Samsung Tab 2 10.1, whose WiFi would try turning ON but then push back to OFF on its own in 2-3 seconds.
Would flashing the module zip help for my problem? If so, could you please instruct on how that is done. I'm a new bee at it.
Thank you,
