Hello everybody. I have a hard time searching for the stock FTF's and kernels all over the place. So here is a list with stock FTF's and kernels and also ROM's which are complete packages (can be flashed over anything). It may be incomplete so I may have to update, but here it is.
None of these FTF's or ROM's are my work. I'm just making it easier to access them. I would be uploading a stock flashable zip shortly, but later. Tadaaa!!!!

You can use a 6.1.1.C.1.0 Kernel.
Try the BrainsKernel
It must be on 1st or 2nd page of Xperia U Android Development
@neectron- that thread isn't updated by GEKTHEBOSS. I thought that I would take over his listing job and give him free time to develop more ROM's and Mods. I love his Mods
As there is already one of these threads available we don't need another. If you wish to continue updating the one that GEKTHEBOSS has started you can ask him if you can and if he wants you to take over his post. If he says yes then get him to ask a mod to transfer ownership of the thread to you that way we're not duplicating threads here in Development.
Thanks

Folks, I am not a modder but I have been using MODs for quite sometime. This forum is intended for all newbies out there waiting for their questions to be answered from how-tos to why-nots. Please feel to raise your questions, I will try to answer all your questions.
Ok. First question.
Why do we need another thread for Q&A, when we already have STICKY thread in THIS section, with similar name, and even if we don't, this entire section is for Q&A's
Ok den i have a question can you suggest me best ics rom for neo v with locked bootloader & stock kernel.
But everything should be working there should be any bug.and that rom should be fast and tweaked.

Mayank,
Shardul Seth's ICS ROM is good to start with. I have tested all his previous versions and the current version too. The instructions are on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1603919
He uses a slightly modded Stock Kernel which is smooth and has enough governors on it. If you are stuck in one of the insturctions, I can help you with that.

Reyearthlings,
It's a terrific ROM. It has it's own limits. krabappel2548 has added new Jellybeans addons in this MOD. If you have used ICS KA2x.x before, this would be a cake walk. I would suggest you to give it a try.

Madfysh,
I am no where near your experience at XDA. If you this is not worth it, I would delete the thread right away.
Thread closed, as it's A) A duplicate, and B) kind of redundant given we have a whole Q/A section.
MIUI4 ROM Support for LiveView
I loved the MIUIv4 rom !!!
Its damn Awesome !!!!!
But I couldn't get my LiveView to work in it(Not Completely).
I am able to pair with it but not able to get notifications (like an incoming call, missed call, or even read an SMS).
I used the one that comes with the AROMA installer.
Any ideas to get it to work ?
Hi,
As .587 build is officially available for MiniPro, please start using MiniPro as base for ALL MDPI ROM's or please create ROMs for MiniPro using official ROM as base. Also it would be great if someone can provide a rooted MiniPro kernel. I also request kernel developers of Rage, KernelPanic, Mesa to provide us a kernel based on official MiniPro kernel for all the MiniPros around the world.,

Every ROM base like .587,.431 etc. are basically the same with only the device specific features being implemented for a specific device by sony. Otherwise, any device's base firmware can be used by ripping out the proprietary files for the device and adding the other device files by any other means.
For the kernel, the source is same for ALL the devices that got the .587 firmware. Nothing device specific.

Thanks for your suggestion, but I don't add things like that into my lists because they're easy enough to find. However, I add things like custom ROMs because people can easily get confused between them
Maybe I will in the future, but not right now

You can add Custom ICS kernel (not stock anymore) + CWM Touch v5.5.0.4 Full-Working-Stable
I still have no idea why these post is not in your index? There is 2 links: first link is rom and seccond link is recovery... you can just add recovery (its stable and full working release including mass storage mode working(internal/extenal), some tools specially created for Xperia devices...etc - V8) if you not like rom! If you allready opened "things colection thread", why you don't colect everything for Xperia Go?

I've added the custom ICS kernel.
It's not that I don't like it (I don't have this phone to be able to use it), it's just because it appeared to be just the stock ROM.

I just made to this try and make it easier for those who have the device, but it's likely that I'm gonna miss some things.
If you could possibly provide links, then I'll be able to get this more complete as quick as possible.
Thanks!

Hello & First of all 'HI' to all the members of XDA-Forum!!
I have been visiting this forum recently since i got my XU.
I want your help in flashing the JellyBAM ROM on my XU coz am still a newbie in flashing stuffs. I have certain queries which when answered will result whether I should flash it or stay with my Stock ROM.
So first of all, details about my XU:
Model - ST25i
Firmware - Stock ICS with some minor customizations & CWM v 5 installed.
Bootloader Status - Locked
Now questions,
1) Will JellyBAM require unlocked Bootloader?
2) If yes for above question, then which data will actually get wiped during the Bootloader unlocking process? My User & System apps + Data have been backedup using Titanium Backup and are in the Internal 4GB memory. Will they also get deleted?
3) What else should be taken care of?
4) And lastly, Instructions to flash JellyBAM.
Plz do answer the questions, you need not write long detailed explanations as I have enough knowledge related to these stuffs.
Thank you very much!!
Thers no JB for xperia U.
As of right now, JellyBAM rom is not working. The original developer based it on a CM10 base but unfortuntately, he didnt notice that the branch was not booting. So till CM10 gets fixed by FXP, I dont see any likelihood of Jellybam working
Jellybean doesn't work yet on xperia u.
Don't try jellybam because it won't boot.

I don't have any experience in Development of ROM's so I really don't know but I know one thing i.e. it takes hard work to compile 3 ROM's (AOKP + Paranoid + CM) into one and make a powerful ROM.
I know that and by no means am I disrespecting the developer. His rom is by all means a really good one but I am talking about the Xperia U version. He copied over his modified files onto a non-working CM10 base. Thats the issue here.
I understand that my previous post does seem disrespectful of the original Dev but it wasnt intended. I assumed that you didnt understand my previous reply so I simplified it as simple as I could although I admit I ought to have phrased differently
Sorry if it seemed disrespectful to you or the Dev. No disrespect was intended.

I would say, try the ROMs which have active development or try the one's after reading user comments, screenshots etc. to get an idea about the ROM. You should decide yourself, which ROM to use.
Sorry
That's right. You shouldn't ask for ROM recommendations, as its against forum rules.
If u want a fully stable rom there's no option fr ics currently; but stock jb v4 by devswift1 has only led bar and front cam bug i tried its really good!
Sent from my ST25i using xda premium
It's easy. Take the first one you'll find and try it.
We cannot give you a real recommendation, because beauty, speed and stability are subjective sizes.
For general: Stock based (not ported) roms have normally less hardware related bugs. But they are based usually not on newest developments (i've not seen a sony based bean 4.2 rom for xu today).
Conclusion: you have to find "the best rom" yourself
Thumb through Xperia U Android Development. It's there waiting for you
