I've been trying to play video on BBC news website with no success. The loading circle just rotates forever. Funny thing is when I first got my sgs2 it played no problem whatsoever. Also BBC iplayer main website won't let me access it, says my phone not supported. Once again I think I could access it before I upgraded from 2.3.3. Java is enabled in my settings and plugins are allowed. I'm unrooted on stock voda 2.3.5. Anybody else sufferring from this problem?

All working fine here... do u have flash installed OK?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Yeah, running latest version of flash downloaded from market. Using stock browser. Tried uninstalling flash updates, but made no difference. The red ring just keeps whirling round forever and video never plays. All very odd. Every other site I've tried video works fine e.g. sky news, t3, stuff TV, itv news, gadget show. Even BBC one watchlive worked. I guess it must be my settings somehow? But i've no idea what exactly.

Yes, I have the problem as well. It was one of the good things about the S2 that I could watch all the BBC news videos. I guess the BBC have changed something.
I have just tested and it now works OK using Dolphin HD Browser (and you can watch full screen unlike on the stock browser)
Also the videos work on the official BBC news app
I agree, the first thing I checked in shop on demo gs2 was flash playing video on BBC news website. The speed and smoothness really impressed me. Coming from HTC legend ARMv6 where flash was crap, it helped make my decision to buy gs2 final. At least now I know someone else has this issue and shares my disappointment.
Good to know it still works with dolphin hd though. But for me I'd rather stick to stock browser because if hardware acceleration. So the fact it doesn't work anymore is pretty frustrating.:-(

i have solved this problem by using an older version of adobe flash that i still had backed up in titanium backup. but i don't know if thats the best solution since then you won't get the newest versions and security fixes.....
Using titanium backup to roll back flash might be an option. Although i'm pretty sure I would need root. Interestingly I have uninstalled all flash updates back to 10.1 and it made no difference. So maybe flash isn't the problem?

Can you give me a link to try?
I know that the bbc have recently moved over to HTML5 video content.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/22/bbc-moves-towards-html5-for-websites-tells-flash-itll-still-be/
This is probably the issue though I have surfed through the site and it is all working for me.

Interesting article. I presume you want the link to the web page I'm having trouble with? It's just the BBC news front/home page.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/
If I've picked you up wrong let me know.
Also as I stated earlier BBC iplayer (WEBSITE) says my phone isn't supported. Does that also work for you? Thanks for your input
Gs2 on stock uk voda 2.3.5 using stock browser.

Done a search but nothing of relevance came up in these forums.
Just got my phone today and so far just using the stock browser which seems ok but undoubtedly there are better browsers out there, i always used X-Scope on my SGSII but im a bit tired of that now and looking for something else,i hear Chrome for ICS is supposed to be very good, so what browser is everyone using then?
Chrome is not that great on s3 yet, it lags and has touch delays..stock browser is undoubtedly the best browser I have tried . It gets the work done. Only thing I don't like is how you manage tabs . Try dolphin browser, should run as stock but with some enchanced features
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Well the built in browser works really nice, but i personally like
firefox and that you can use addons like adblock and so that i value
a lot personally.
Though I don't currently have the S3 yet, I'll probably use Boat Browser. Easy to use and has been the best I have used for my tastes. It'll be the fist I install when I get my S3.
Dunno where you heard that Chrome 'lags', that's definately not the case. Alright, you don't have Flash. I always thought of it as a huge drawback but I haven't missed it a single time and I've been using Chrome for Android since the very beginning.
It has great tab management, staggering performance and a brilliant look. One of the best things about it is the integration with your desktop Chrome (and all other versions of Chrome you might be using.) Open tabs are synced in real time so let's just say you want to open a link from your phone on your desktop. no more mailing it around, now you can just click on it on your desktop. The bookmark sync is great too. And it's Chrome.

Use Chrome. Also install Flashify. In the rare instance you launch a site that needs flash, just click share, flashify, then select an alternative browser. The page you were browsing is then opened for you.

I didn't hear it, I experienced it. Visit www.aftonbladet.se with both stock browser and chrome. While stock handles the website like any other..chrome gets real messy. The touch response like 1-2 seconds after you started to pan. It's just me?

That site works a treat for me. Or at least, I think it does, I can't read that language, so I can't tell if it's somehow horribly broken something or not

I just froze the s3 stock browser using titanium backup and copied the browser from my s2 cm9 rom into /system/apps. It works brilliantly! Need root though
So far, the stock browser is doing it for me

ICS Browser+ for me. Persistent user agent switch, customisable quick controls, negative colour mode, everything I could possibly need in a mobile browser.

Chrome still sucks for me even after you let it fully load pages . Zoom in and out pinching and panning it just freeze-lags on me all the time . You guys force gpu acceleration?

Stock browser works well here.
Before I used Dolphin, but there's a bug or something. When double tapping to zoom in on an area on the page it always zooms in to the left of the page (instead of the area you double tap)
Do more people experience this bug?
Dolphin Mini - best interface, not a ton of features
Dolphin HD - alright interface, just works
Opera Mobile - most like a PC, best comparability with websites that give trouble, has hardware acceleration, super smooth
Stock - smoothest, least features, and has problems downloading certain types of files, or downloading at all from hosting websites

You "claim" that it doesn't work.
What methods have you tried?

I hate flash - particularly on Windows PC's where we seem to get the flash player update of the week. Yet, I can't quite seem to do without it. Inevitably I'll hit some site where I need it and just saying that I refuse to visit sites that use it won't work for me. I wish it did.
However, with Apple never supporting it on iOS and now support for it on Android going away slowly, I sure hope it dies soon. For now though, I need it.

You can find some methods of reaquiring flash with a pinch zoom comparable version of Dolphin Browser here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846225
Thanks for the suggestions, but I am aware of dolphin and the other suggestions and they are not what I am looking for. How can we fix the JB Rom for the Prime to be like the Tf300 JB Rom so flash works in the stock browser? Not a debate on flash vs html5, just need it to work for one website for a family member who needs it for their internal work site for American Airlines. Again it is working with JB for tf300, just not on Prime with the same flash package and browser.

Not sure why Flash wouldn't be working for you in the stock JB browser. As long as I have Flash 11 installed, my stock browser is rendering flash content fine. Are you certain you have the latest version of Flash installed and that the stock browser is set to always for plugins? Noticed you were looking for a FLASH check box, but you actually need to look for the PLUG-INS setting which is located in "settings" "advanced". Also some flash content doesnt work in the "on demand" mode (for instance flow player)
You can find archived Flash versions here since you can't download from play store anymore.
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
You can install these as long a you have "allow unknown sources" checked in the security settings on the Prime.
I'm on Blackstar VII ROM. I have stock browser Boat and Dolphin. It shows I have flash downloaded from the ROM but the browsers do not recognise it. I used to be able to watch the videos in the webpage (like ESPN) but now the videos have to be downloaded. I was wondering why?
I know adobe stopped flash support and format currently nothing for JB. This ROM is ICS. I did some searching and didn't find much on this topic. I'm just wondering what others are doing.
Thanks foe the time.

It does work but you need to download a browser that will support the flash plugin. Since flash player is no longer supported the browsers on the phone dont support the plugin. Go to the market and download Dolphin browser.
Forgot to add that if you use Dolphin browser you need to go into the settings...web content...and turn flash on.
Firefox works too but it takes up much more space.
thanks will try that.

No Chrome for Android doesn't support flash they have switched to HTML5 since flash ended android support. All the new phones and upcoming phone browsers wont support flash plugin. You need to download a browser from the market that supports flash like Dolphin, Firefox, etc.
