This is my output after comiling cm7 from source:
I replace my zImage and It will not boot?
I just get a black screen..
Is there any way to fix this black screen?
If I delete the .config the build is a success again?
I don't know what is going on here but help would be appropriated..

I am trying to buil a cm7 kernel for my conquer 4g. I already downloaded the cm source from wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Building_Kernel_from_source. Than I added my phones config.gz like it says to do. Than I did
Code:
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=$CCOMPILER oldconfig
and kept on pressing enter for the default settings.
And yes I do have the toolchain files and I did this and its in the correct directory.
Code:
export CCOMPILER=[extraction directory]/bin/arm-eabi-
Than I edited ARCH ?= and CROSS_COMPILE ?= to the correct settings. (arm, directory)
Than I did
Code:
make -j4
and it went good, but it had a couple warnings. Than in the middle of the building it just stops for some reason. Im on ubuntu 10.10 and I already downloaded all the necessary files. When it ended it did not have an error or warning it just stopped. I tried a couple more times with no luck. It has a ARMv7 processor and in build.prop ro.board.platform=msm7k. Any help? Thanks.

Because it's too long for the whole output, it would only be a fraction of the whole. I'll do it again in a bit and try to get the output for you.

Well its either output or guessing. Somewhere the output will have an error, depending on the cores you have the error could be pretty far up and still outputting while its trying to cleanup to kill.
If you are worried about the copy and paste install pastebinit and append it to your make command:
Code:
sudo apt-get install pastebinit
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=$CCOMPILER oldconfig |pastebinit
That will automatically upload the output to paste.ubuntu.com and give you a simple url to paste here.

Which kernel are you trying to compile and with which toolchain?
Enviado desde mi Xperia U mediante Tapatalk
1.Open arch/arm/mach-ux500/include/mach/id.h
2.Goto line no. 68 and change
inline bool cpu_is_u9500(void)
to
bool cpu_is_u9500(void)
That should fix the error.

I have compiled it with LINARO. So it's work
I'm trying to compile the LineageOS kernel source for my device Galaxy S4 (jfltexx).
Kernel: https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_samsung_jflte
Toolchain: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/prebuilts/gcc/linux-x86/arm/arm-eabi-4.8/
System: Xubuntu 17.10 (64 bit) with gcc 7.2.0 and GNU Make 4.1
In order to compile the kernel for my target, I'm using the build script from the kernel repository:
Code:
python build-all.py jf_eur
The compilation usually stops at one point and the log contains the following:
Code:
GEN /home/computer/Desktop/output/all-kernels/jf_eur/Makefile
scripts/kconfig/conf --silentoldconfig Kconfig
drivers/usb/otg/Kconfig:187:warning: leading whitespace ignored
drivers/media/video/msm-jf/Kconfig:114:warning: choice value used outside its choice group

I have been searching the internet, but only found one topic where a user mentioned that 'tracing' caused them this error:
I solved my problem reverting an old patch that disabled tracing, everything is up in my git

Since I'm using the latest kernel sources and the device is still actively supported with complete LineageOS builds, I thought the kernel should probably compile just fine. I also watched some Youtube videos where people compiled kernels the same way I am trying to.
Am I using a wrong toolchain or other programms?
I'm glad for any help, thanks!
