Trying to go back to CM10 from CM10.1 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I updated my tablet to CM 10.1 Nightly from CM 10 through the Cyanogenmod Updater. After playing around with 10.1 for a little, I decided it was too buggy for me, so I went back to the updater and downloaded the CM 10 update again. Now, when it reboots, it wont get past the Cyanogenmod screen. What do I need to do to get back to CM 10?
Thank you

Full Wipe, you shouldn't go back to previous without wiping or you "bootloop". You need to Wipe Data/Cache; Cache; and Dalvik Cache and then reinstall CM10 and gapps.

Yeah I realized that, did a full wipe.
I unfortunately never set up titanium backup. How exactly does it work? like what does it back up exactly?

It allows you to backup your data apps (system apps too but I do not recommend backing system apps cause it can cause A LOT of issues if data of the system app is restored). When you have the data apps backed up, you can restore the app with the data associated (e.g. game saves).

does it automatically restore all of the apps I had, and their locations on my homescreens so I dont have to download them all again and set up my home pages again?

You can restore all your backed up data apps in batch. You could also backup your launcher and restore Data Only. It will place your apps on teh screens again but not widgets.

[Q] Titanium Backups Batch function not working

I have always used ROM Manager to do everything, but seeing that might not be the best way to do things..I have been having some other problems with restoring, and talked about it on another forum, but can't post the link here yet.
So, my nightlys said it is time to upgrade, so I am going to completely back everything up with TB, and fire it all up to dropbox. All of my system settings are 100% the way I want them... I also clicked the beta migration option in the preferences, hoping that would help me.
Step 1 - Backup all user apps + system Data
Step 2 - Sync to Dropbox
Step 3 - Boot into Clockwork Mod Recovery, and do everything manually, not through ROM Manager
Step 4 - Clear cache and Dalvik
Step 5 - Run zip from SD Card
This time, it seemed like everything went as planned. When I started the phone back up, all the apps were in the same spot, and wallpaper was the same. Although, the first time, when the screen timed out, I couldn't turn it back on. Pulled the battery, and all is working fine now.
Step 6- went into TB and did a batch restore of all apps and data, but only clicked the green items. From reading somewhere else, it is only wise to do the green items, not the red, so that is what I did. Then reboot for all to take effect.
This is where I am confused. None of my data is restored. For example, I use K-9 Mail, and the settings aren't restored by the batch. But, if I go to that app, and hit the restore data, then it restores it fine. So, for me to do all my apps, the batch function isn't working, I have to go through and do 15-20 apps manually.
So, what am I doing wrong here? Why isn't the batch operation working properly for me?
Edit - Something else I noticed that didn't restore properly was any of my ring tones. Not a huge deal, but I thought might be worth mentioning in this dilemma.
So I assume you are on CM7 as you refer to nightlies.
You say that you wipe cache/dalvick cache and install. Then when you reboot all your apps are in the right place?
Then why on earth would you want restore your apps on top of the existing apps with TB? Maybe that is causing the problem. AFAIK upgrading with a nightly shouldn't touch your installed apps.
Did you check the app settings before restoring with TB?
As for the ringtones, I always had that problem when using CM7, just got used to fixing them after installing each nightly.
Hope this helps.
What version of TB are you using? I was having a similar problem doing restores on v3.9.0.1 and was having problems doing batch recovery with my SGS2. The status bar would come up but wouldn't successfully finish. I then upgraded to 4.0.0.0 and everything seems to work.. might give that a try if you're using an older version.

Yes, sorry, I am running CM7, but using the nighties.
As far as the apps, that's why I think I am doing something wrong. Last time was the first time everything was there, every other update, it was like I was starting off with a new phone. No app, no data, nothing. A brand new fresh start.
I will try it again in a few minutes and hope for the best..
Thanks for helping out with this one..

I am currently using the Pro, 4.0.2. It just seems that I have to refresh all the data for each app by themselves, but all at once won't work.
Upgrading my nightly now, so keeping my fingers crossed that it will work.

[Q] Alpha 3 -> XRON

Does anyone know how to make the transition from Alpha 3 to XRON? I already have Alpha 3 working and installed some apps.
Do we need to uninstall Alpha 3 or we can update to XRON directly? If its direct, what happens to the apps, games and data that exists in Alpha 3 that I installed from the Market. Would be wiped and I have to redo them all over again?
Thanks for your help.

Never done this before eh?
The only time that you wont lose your apps and previous settings is if you install over an existing installation, and that is a pretty rare occurrence. XRON requires a factory wipe before installation.
Just boot into CWM Recovery and flash the zip and do a factory wipe.
If you left the defaults alone when you installed CM7 originally, your apps will be backed up.

Thanks Krunk_Kracker for your response. Sorry haven't done that.
Flash the zip and do a factory wipe? Didn't understand that.
Also when you say apps will be backed up that will be when we do a NANDROID backup but was hoping if we can flash XRON over Alpha 3 and still have my existing games retain the level/scores or some of my apps have the logins saved etc.
It looks like it won't and I have to wipe Alpha 3 and do XRON and start installing the apps all over again.

Contrary to popular teaching I have never done a factory wipe through all the CM versions and then all the XRON versions as well!
TP runs stable and solid with Regpon being the only "fix" applied to maintain WiFi.
I love this device!
PS I do a dalvic wipe and partion wipe.
Use Mybackuproot its a free app in the Market. It will backup all your current apps+data like saved games, call logs, text msgs etc...
Run it to save a backup to SD card, clean install XRON, go to the market to install MybackupRoot again, and then load up your backup from SD card. Has work great for me in the past on my ANdroid phones when trying out different Roms.

[Q] Slim Bean 4.1.2 i9300 issues

Hi,
I just updated my ROM to the Slim Bean ROM for JB on my S3 (4.1.2) but I am having quite a few issues. Can anyone guide me to a solution to my problem?
1. My system from time to time keeps stalling for about 15 seconds. This normally happens when im browsing the net, but also happens when I'm using other apps at times.
2. NFC doesn't get enabled. I see the option to enable NFC but when I tick the enable box it fades out and I am not able to select the option again. More importantly it does not allow me to use NFC. I am trying to write profiles on on a few NFC tags but it says that NFC is not enabled and it does not write or read any of the tags.
3. Many of the Samsung apps are not showing. S Memo and S calendar being the notable apps I am missing. I tried installing apks. It installs them but the app never appears in my app list.
I think so far these are the only ones that I am facing. Any solutions?
Regards,
Fahad.
a) what was your installation procedure?
b) you won't get Samsung apps on Slim, it is an aosp Rom.....Samsung apps need the touchwiz framework.

a) as it was stated on the slim bean website. I downloaded the files from there and flashed the ROM as per the instructions on their website.
b) Noted. Thanks.

Yes. I did a full wipe and format system and wipe cache as the website's instructions said.
Before i upgraded to SB i had used Titatnium Backup to backup all my apps. Post flashing SB on my S3 I restored all apps using Titanium Backup.

[Q] Apps missing after restore

Hi, I've searched this forum well, but didn't find anything to answer my problem.
For a few months, I was hapilly using stable release of 10.1.3 for my i9100G without any serious troubles. Today I decided to try 10.2 Nightly (10-27-2013), so I backed up my ROM with CWM, in phone's settings selected the freshly downloaded upgrade and new rom got installed. However, I decided to go back to stable 10.1.3, therefore I wanted to restore my back up, which went alright, except most of apps previously installed are not present in my phone anymore - google play doesn't know about them, they are not listed in Apps in Settings. When I connect my phone with PC via Airdroid, it shows the complete list of apps including the disappeard ones, but thats all it can do. Please, advice me, how can I restore my apps with their data back. Thanks, David:cyclops:

did you do a full data wipe before downgrading?
Try a full wipe(data, cache, dalvik) then downgrade
U will get all your apps working
Its basically due to the conflicts between the entirely different versions of the roms
Gud luck mate

[Q] Apps Crashing/Black Screens

I installed V1 of barepop on sunday and everything was working perfect. Today I remembered that I had some memos in quick memos that I needed, so I restored my backup (I think it was ZV4), exported the memos, and then restored the backup of Barepop that I made right before. However, now most of my apps crash or don't open. For example, when i open instagram it stays open but when i begin to scroll it FCs. And when i check the app info, it says that it has 100MB of cache. I tried doing a clean install again, but I get the same problems. Most of my apps crash or don't open. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it a problem with the modem or conflicting data with KK and L?
Did you wipe:
Dalvik Cache
System
Data
Cache
All of these?
If you didn't wipe data from a past rom it can really mess things up. Try wiping those four partitions and then restore your backup.

Yeah. I tried again right now just in case, and I run into the same problems. Could it be a problem with me not switching modems when I restored the zv4 backup?

Maybe. The modern isn't backwards
compatible. When you go back to zv4/6 you should flash the modem also. And maybe the rpm,tz partitions. Not sure on that yet.
It almost sounds like your internal SD for corrupt. You might have to format it. Backup your files first though.

Okay I wiped internal and installed barepop v1, and now i have no softkeys at the bottom of the screen and the status bar does not show up either.
I Installed V.2 and I get the same results
I was able to install CM12 with no issues. I don't if this helps narrow down the problem
Use the flashtool and go back to zv4 and reroot and then do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/help/fix-missing-wifi-calling-zv4-t2842102
It should fix everything
