[Q] HTC Evo 3d GSM ROM problems. - HTC EVO 3D

Hey guys, I've searched the forum for a while but haven't quite found an answer to this, so I thought I'd post here. Before I start, I'd like to say, yes I am an experienced flasher and know most of my basic things. I've got a pyramid working perfectly, but this has been giving me many problems.
Basically, I just s-offed my HTC Evo 3D GSM, with an old CID of RO____001(I think), and HBOOT 1.53.
So now here I am, with my unlocked phone, running HBOOT 1.49, with SuperCID. My old ROM was Cool ICS, and I couldn't stand it, so I wanted to change over to stock Jelly bean, preferably AOKP. I've got the latest AOKP ROM, and 4EXT Recovery. I went into recovery and wiped my user data and cache and tried flashing the ROM, and Gapps of course, and then I rebooted, but it booted into Cool ICS again! With this happening, I tried wiping all partitions(including system, no SD card) and then my phone booted into a bright white HTC screen and didn't exit it. Parents are mad that my phone is broken now.
Please help! Much appreciated!

Flash stock and try again

Sounds more like the actual ROM is corrupt.
Redownload the ROM you want to run. Do a full wipe of the phone, including cache. Then transfer over the files. You can use 4EXT to transfer files to the phone via usb storage mode.
Then try flashing the ROM.
If it still doesn't work, try flashing a different ROM.
If that still doesn't work, report back here or feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the reply, DjDom. I'm kind of in a bigger pickle here. My recovery partition won't even work now. This was happening before I formatted all partitions, each time I wiped my data, it wiped the 4EXT app and the recovery partition. Does this mean I need to use the RUU again? And will the RUU re s-on the phone?

Damn if you can't access your recovery then you are in a bit of a trouble.
Maybe your downloaded ROM got corrupted or it didn't complete downloading that's why it's always recommended to check the HASH after you download something.
Good Luck on recovering your device back!

Na, I can still access recovery by simply flashing the .img... The ROM did finish downloading, as the HASH was proper, there's just a problem with recovery actually flashing to system.

Bump.. Come on guys, I really need help.. It won't even load bootloader anymore.

Flash a new recovery with Fastboot USB (I recommend TWRP or 4ext as recovery) Then go onto your recovery an flash the desired ROM.
Goodluck!

If your on 2.3.4 that's your issue.those kernels won't work for it.pull battery.hold power and volume down go into recovery when battery is put back in..
sent from my badass EVO 3D running Kaos Hybrid 4.20 using tapatalk
I did that but when i choose recovery it boots to the htc logo and then keeps rebooting ...
no one knows what i can do ? :/ is there a way to reset the phone without recovery ?
You pulled the battery? Cause if you don't and fastboot is on.its would do that.
sent from my badass EVO 3D running Kaos Hybrid 4.20 using tapatalk
yes i did it just as you said ...
If you still can't get into recovery or the phone continuously bootloops after the battery pull, just run the latest RUU.
What is a RUU and how do i run it ? Do you have a link ? Thanks for the replies.
Have you taken the latest OTA, or have you ran revolutionary on your phone?
yes i have revolutionary on the phone
Go here, download the .exe with the 1.13.651.7, and run it as admin.
thanks, Is it a problem if i'm not on sprint? cause i'm in france and got the gsm version.
Yes, that would be a problem...try this thread and see if your version is listed.
i guess i'll try the "europe" one... if i dont risk to brick my phone by doing so ...
Tried and didn't work wasn't the good one... I hope i will find the good one soon i'll bookmark your link hoping that my version will be upped...
Thank you for your help.
Did you solve the problem?
Hi I just have the same problems like you ... I am in France, and after installing a new kernel, the phone is an a restarting loop.
I can go to the recovery mode (revolutionary) , I have tried to install different kernel and different ROM, but it alwas failed...
Thanks
MikRunny problems
I have a similar problem.
I tried installing MikRunny, (I flashed the boot.img multiple times, and did a full wipe, multiple times), but I keep getting a bootloop.
I fastbooted the boot.img, and I replaced the boot.img in the kernel map in MikRunny.zip.
My phone is (according to recovery) S-OFF, Revolutionary, 1.49 HBOOT, GSM.
That was the problem, the boot.img was not for GSM, but for CDMA.
But yet, I replaced it, and it still doesn't work...

Search Google, Rootzwiki, and XDA for an SD bootable CWM or TWRP recovery image for the phone. Use all terms for the Evo 3D (shooter, 3vo, E3D, and even the HTC model number, which is PG86100). Write it to a microSD with dd in Linux or Win32DiskImager in Windows. After it's done writing, just drop your zips onto the card as you normally would and place it back into the phone. Proceed to recovery as you normally would. Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik cache, and battery stats. Now flash your ROM zip and follow it with your GAPPS zip. Reboot system and pray for the best. If you need any more assistance or help, feel free to PM me. Hope this helps, I know how bricking a phone feels. Just remember that there's no such thing as a permanent brick, unless you hit it with a real brick .

Hey i ran into this problem yesterday flashing this Kernel...i used the flash gui app...what happened was it booted after it flashed....and it stuck in bootloop...i tried reflashing it the regular way just through cwm and it wasnt doing anything...so i did a google search on how to flash kernels on hboot 1.5 this is what i got...http://youtu.be/HclYpo0ZR3s that youtube video shows how to flash the kernel....THE WAY I KNEW HOW TO....but he says at the end there is a backup way to flash kernels..he says its longer but it also works just as good he says that you fastboot flash it via command prompt...so this gave me an idea...he says open up command prompt and prompt it to the folder you have used to unlock the device...unzip the boot.img file from the kernel your using in command prompt youd type fastboot flash boot boot.img....THIS NEXT PART I THOUGHT OF MYSELF. i removed the boot.img from the rom i was using and flashed that first AND FLASHED THE EXACT ROM I REMOVED THE BOOT.IMG FROM TO GET IT ROOTED. Not only did i solve my original kenel problem where my radios were jacked up BUT, i also got this kernel to work, and my synergy rom to work with the kernel, everything works and i was unbricked...I HOPE ANYBODY WHO RUNS INTO THIS PROBLEM DOES THIS AND THEY ARE OK.

Need Help!!!!

My brother tried to install a rom in rom manager. Did not work. He got stuck at the hboot screen. He panicked and tried fixing by flashing the newest ruu. It does the update then when you reboot it gets stuck at the white htc screen for ever. Not sure what he did is even fixable im used to the samsung phone and we just odin back. I have tried to reinstall his cwm and flash the ruu thru there but same result. He was rooted running bamf and he still has s-off even after flashing ruu. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated and to save time hit me up on gtalk @ [email protected]. Thanks fellows.

That would have been to easy...lol. nope sure didnt!
Wow fail on the no backup! I'd try to reboot into recovery, load a new rom on the SD and try to flash that.
What did he use to gain root?
Can you verify he still has s-off?
Bootloader version?

Do a system wipe, cache and dalvik. Then try to reinstall a rom, not the RUU.

I wish more people would stop flashing roms in Rom manager. Reboot to recovery clear data, cache, davlik cache, hell format system while you are at it, wipe it all 3 times for good measure. I have always followed the same steps from day 1 and never any issues with roms other than known bugs. Another thing when something doesn't go right don't just flash with no reguard to your device. If something does not work try to clear everything and reflash again. If that does not work clear everything and flash your backup (yes you should always make a back up) rant over.
If I helped you in any way please use the thank you button

Urgent help needed. Phone's radios do not work and computer unable to access SD card

Hi all,
So it looks like I've ****ed up my phone a bit. I just started the rooting process earlier this week and I went horribly wrong somewhere. The phone is not bricked, but close to it. Here's where I'm at:
Downloaded a couple of ICS ROMs
Unlocked device using HTC Dev
Flashed recovery using recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-shooteru.img
Installed first custom ROM 70_shooter_ice_v_1.0.1_beta_7b225
Shooter ICE ROM worked with wifi and mobile data, but camera didn't work and connecting to a computer resulted in a MTP USB error so I was not able to access SD card from any computer
Booted to recovery and flashed a new ROM LoLic Sense 4.0 v4
Now, SD card doesn't work, wifi doesn't work, mobile data doesn't work; phone is essentially bricked
I do not have any backups of the original ROM and I have been trying to flash using RUUs and PG86IMG.zip but I haven't had any luck
PLEASE HELP! What do I do? How can I recover my phone?
Here is the original device info:
Manufacturer: HTC
Model: EVO 3D X515a
OS Version: Android 2.3.4
Baseband: 10.53.9020.00U_10.13.9020.08_2M

No, but what would I be able to do differently? Currently, I am using an SD card reader to load images/roms onto the SD card to try flashing. I have attempted to flash other ROMs and RUUs, but nothing is restoring the radios or usb function of the phone.
The USB issue you are having is an ICS ROM bug. In order to access your SD from your computer you have to mount through your recovery. I would try to go back to a ROM where your radios worked, such as the first ROM you flashed or to the stock ROM, and try to re-install your radios. BTW are you S-ON or OFF? And are the ROMs you flashed CMDA or GSM? If they were CDMA there's your problem.
Alright, from what I understand your phone will boot but nothing really works?
Try flashing this, it's the Stock rom, but it is rooted.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318942
All you need to do is flash it and boot into it.
IF it works, create a nandroid of it, and then try flashing a different ROM.
If it doesn't work, just post again.
MAKE SURE to wipe the phone completely from Recovery before the install.
Format all sections, and then install. (You don't need to format SD card)
And, by the way, if you need a good rom, try the KingCobra ICS ROM.
If you're S-ON, however, you'll need to use Version 1.5. S-OFF: 1.6+.

Yes, it will work perfectly.
I'm on Rogers too.
I have the exact same phone as you, right down to the HBOOT. So, not to worry as I've used that ROM several times to fix problems.
I know you've probably heard this a dozen times, but I recommend you go S-OFF. It's not very hard and I can help you out if you'd like.

Okay so here's what I did:
1. Turn OFF Fast Boot by going to Settings > Power
2. Turn ON USB Debugging by going to Settings > Applications > Development
3. Connect to your computer using USB Disk Mode
4. Turned off the phone and took out the battery for 10 seconds
5. Re-inserted the battery and booted into recovery
8. Wipe the Cache Partition
9. Wipe the Dalvik Cache
10. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
11. Installed the ROM from the zip file on my sd card
Now when I boot up, it flashes the HTC logo and then the screen just goes black. The home buttons are lit up.

Problem Solved by flashing a new recovery, installing a rom, then flashing the Boot.img.

[Q] Internal storage will not mount and PH98IMG will not load from SD card

I have searched and I've found no answers for this. I picked up my phone today and it was unresponsive. I pulled the battery to restart it, would get to the white HTC screen then nothing. Went to recovery TWRP 2.3.2.3 and was greeted with a long list of "E: unable to..." everything. Can't mount system, emmc, data etc. Cannot restore, cannot install, cannot wipe. PH98IMG.zip does not load from sd card. I am pretty sure it's not a formatting issue.
Am I the proud owner of a brick? Any help is appreciated.
I had this problem, I could only fix it by formatting the SD card in the stock rom. If everything is not working and you can't flash the ruu or get in your ROM, you can try factory reset in the bootloader and try a SD card wipe in the ROM after reset to fix the partition. I have only tested fixing the SD mounting issues with stock ROM SD card wiping
That's my idea. Hope I helped

I was running Wildstang's CM10.1. Had just updated to the 030513 update about 4 hours before the levy broke. It appeared to operate fine after reboot. Even used the phone to make an audio recording.
Also, for full information, I am on the most recent firmware (HBOOT 2.27 and most recent radios) and full S-Off.

Easier said than done for me, but I will try it out when I get home tonight. Thanks.
It concerns me, though, that the Image CRC in HBOOT comes up as all zeros for Boot, System and Data, and they are not mountable under any circumstances apparently. Any idea why that would happen?

[Q] stuck in bootloop

Hi,
I have a very strange problem now (at least for me).
First some facts about the phone: It's unlocked Virgin Mobile phone, S-off, rooted, and has a usable 4ext recovery installed.
I also did some days ago when 4ext was installed a backup before trying anything else.
After that I tried different ROMs and most of them booted fine after flashing, and I used the last 2 days a JB 4.3 ROM until I found problems with the camera and wanted to see how this is for one of the other ROMs I tried before.
But after try to flash another ROM, it was stuck with on the HTC logo (the same ROM I flashed before without any problems, and of course after wiping all internal partitions like always). Also flashing any other ROM didn't help - even restoring the backup from the original ROM didn't solved this. Only using fastboot from the computer to write the boot image changed the hanging on th HTC logo in a boot loop now - and still no usable flashing is possible.
Does anyone has any ideas what the reason for this could be and how it can be solved to have a working phone again?
Thanks!

What hboot?
Try wiping everything, then reboot recovery, wipe everything again

It's hboot 1.50.5050
The hboot was only changed at the beginning after getting s-off. With this hboot all the ROMs I try now were working before.
However, for the original restore maybe this version could be a problem (hboot 1.58 was on the phone before), but should be no reason for the other ROMs to fail.
Try wiping everything, then reboot recovery, wipe everything again
Then try and flash again

Well, this works!
So far I wiped everything but then installed directly the ROM after it without a reboot. No I did like you proposed - wipe, reboot, wipe, flash - and it works again.
Is there a reason why it hasn't worked directly after wiping and needed a reboot between?
If all else fails try ruu through bootloader, you will still have s off

Just in case for the next time:
I can only find RUU for Sprint but not VM - do you have a link to a file for a VM phone?
Thanks a lot for the help!
Glad it worked, don't know why but there must have been an issue with recovery
Here is the pg86img I use for vm.
https://db.tt/eBcYZ7yu
Place on root of your sd and rename pg86img.zip
Reboot to bootloader and accept update
This will give you stock Rom and recovery and hboot...s off stays
So if you want to flash again, all you need to do is flash recovery...no unlocking necessary
