Do you think we can unlock a t-mobile ameo with this tread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=240784
If it doesn't work can you explain me why. And do you think we can modified this method to unlock the Ameo? If yes how? Thanks
Well, it looks like nobody has tried it on Ameo yet....
I have TMob anyway, so I certainly will not be the first to test it
Hello, do you think I can brick my Ameo if I try this method? Thanks
I am not aware of Brickage from this, but a few people reported odd radio problems or strange sim problems when it didnt work.
The biggest problem would be locking the phone completely from all sims!
I guess its a gamble somebody will have to take, but I dont expect it to work.
HTC have done some major work since the older handsets this was written for.
So do you think I can try this or not? thanks

Are you looking for someone to blame if it breaks your Athena?
If you can afford to buy another unit if you brick yours, then the answer is yes, go ahead and try it.
As Pantaloonie says, Its up to you.
I can say this, I will NOT try it on my Ameo.
Many HTC phones have been bricked during the development of roms and tools on this site, a lot of them have then been recovered by later tools developed to save the early testers from bricked devices while others stayed as hardware donors.
We all owe these pioneers a lot, without people willing to take the jump/plunge/leap whatever we wouldnt have half this stuff.
That doesnt mean you have to be one of them though.
Hi Gurus
Is it safer to apply HardSPL first then SIM unlock or the other way round.
Maybe it doesnt matter.
Whats your view ?
Asif
I did sim unlock first. then I apply hardspl. now flashing different roms. don't know exactly how the process suppose to be but that's what I did and my phone is working like a champ
I did hard spl, then Sim unlocked, not sure if it matters. I had the same query when I unlocked, but wondered if I missed something in the WIKI, so didn't ask due to a good flaming (if you aint done your research you can get crusified in here). Your braver than me lol
@AsifM3100: U need to do the CID/SIM update first; it will load it's own spl and radio. When U have completed the process, then U should install the hardspl before flashing your own radio and or rom.
Sotian
You post made me laugh. However I have made the same observation but couldnt find the answer in the wiki or other posts. Its one of the reasons why I have put off unlocking and flashing for such a long time. So many people who you feel sorry for, cos they have bricked their phones and who are panicking, just get told to do the research. When you are in that state the last thing you need is research. Its such a contrast to the SAP developer network site that I use regularly where evryone is so keen to help (me included).
Having said that its still the best site for us Hermese peeps. I would be in no state to unlock if it wasnt for this site. I just hope nothing goes wrong.

3 thoughts on this:
1. It is scary when the Germans are nicer than us
2. You gotta feel sorry for anyone hanging around in an SAP developer network
3. We aren't so bad when people have done research. It is the "HELP PLZ!!!!! - JUST GOT MY HERMES THIS MORNING AND BRICKED IT!!!!" posts that get people upset. Or the "CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF THERE IS A WM6 ROM AVAILABLE FOR THE 8525 BY CINGULAR????" People who do their research and ask don't get crucified too badly - usually.
Oh, and regarding the question - doesn't really matter, since (as galaxys noted) the unlocker uses it's own SPL called SSPL and overrides whatever SPL you have loaded. However, it is good practice to throw HardSPL on their as the first step, since it protects the Hermes from having it's bootloader borked - and that is a good thing!
Hi todd_gj
There are not that many Germans on the SAP dewv Networks. Its mainly asian probably in Southern India. Most of the software is now developed out there, especially sisnce it costs $10 an hour. I bet most WM5/6 is churned out over there.
But I do take your point. You need to do your reading, but i have found a little extra help goes a long way to making sense of it all.

PLEASE STICKY THIS!
The purpose of this thread is to consolidate all software, roms, and information on the HTC Touch Dual Neon400.
The Neon400 was released as the CDMA version of the Touch Dual in Canada to Bell and Telus exclusively thus far. At this point in time this exact model is ONLY available in canada to Telus Mobility and Bell Mobility clients.
The Neon400 sports some MAJOR changes to previous Neons and the Niki. Inside it actually has more in common with the HTC Touch Diamond than a traditional Touch Dual (Nike). The specs are as follows:
Qualcomm MSM7501A 528mhz Processor (Same as Diamond)
ROM-capacity: 256 MiB (Same as traditional Nikes)
RAM-capacity: 160 MiB (Higher than Nike, Lower than Diamond)
Full GPS Capability
Same GPU / Graphics capability as Diamond (Altho no 3d interface software provided)
Rumored to have Wifi (neither provider has the drivers/wifi enabled if that is the case).
Both Telus and Bell ship the phone with WM 6.1 Pro as an OS.
Because of the limited availablity of the Neon400, and the vastly different specs, and the fact that it has only been available since Sept. 2008. There is next to none (I have yet to find any) software or rom flashes/upgrades available.
This thread serves as a place for the few of us who have Neon400's to test out new ideas, share modding experiences, give, and receive advice.
Few of my questions right off the top:
Will the previously established methods for unlocking Nike's work for this model? (anyone yet tested?)
Are there any TESTED and COMPATIBLE Roms that work on the Neon400 thus far?
Is anyone currently working on the above projects?
Thank you and Welcome Neon400 users! Lets take advantage of the extra horse power in our HTC Nike's and get things rolling!
instead of neon400, how about all neons? i have the neon300, all pretty much the same (of what you can install on it)
I just got my Neon400 a couple weeks back.
Hopefully we can get some ROM's going for this....the battery life is killin' me!

Always use the top search option to find answers : ) Very easy. This is for the Neon
Unfortunately this method doesn't work for the Neon 400. I should know, I tried. The screen turns black and you need the reset the phone.
So,no, the top search option doesn't work here.
yep i bid we should set upsomething like payment for someone who makes a hacked spl for this phone im willing to pay im sick of the bugs i really liked the touch so much sopport but for this one nothing there has to be someone out there that casn do this

You would think it would have to be somebody who has access to the phone. Since nobody else but Canadians can use it, I don't think there's much hope that any of the regular SPL writers would be able to do it.
I hope I'm wrong though. I've tried to PM Olipro asking for help, but to no avail.
We're seeking into this issue. If anyone got an original (shipped) rom for neon400, let me know.
Cya,
Viper BJK
I was able to extract the .raw files from my Telus "Neon", using the Kaiser tutorials, if this helps? I didn't know what to do beyond that...

I'm unsure if one exists. At least, I can't find one on any of the sites (bell.ca, telus.com, pdcphones.com, htc.come etc). I also heard from the Telus salesman that the phone is being discontinued. That's bad for updates. I don't know about Bell.
need HARDspl
if there is one its for the jap version of the neon400 dont know what good that would do
and as for updates htc site would have them if telus would not right it only makes sence
is there a way to extract the rom off my phone ?
neon 400's are also available in Gsm quad band not just cdma.
Im starting to regret that i bought this phone.
DLOAD bootloader still locked after a half of year. No active developer and no interest from the famous DFT team. Shame. What do you think i want a unlocked phone, should i sell my lumia 800 ?

Oh im not joking I dont really see any inprovements in Lumia 800 DLOAD developement I see amazing custom ROMs for unlocked ones but no progress in DLOAD unlocking, quite a pitty
fyi man i dont mean it badly
i agree. And finding a qualcomm one is a *****,found one with 2.3 and eaaarly firmware,it was still DLOAD One nasty thing is we won't get wp8,and probably when devices with wp8 appear, dust will settle on our loved lumia 800

It's not like our devices will stop to working when WP8 is released. Another thing: no one is preventing you from messing around with the bootloader, there is a lot of information in the Dev. thread to get you started on working with the BL. And saying there is no progress in Development and Hacking on the Lumia 800 is just plain wrong...
No,it will not stop working, but there is no development for us with DLOAD bootloader(90% percent if not more)...

How is there no development? Developers will still try to target as much devices as possible. And you call a 103 page thread about the bootloader no development?
yes since nothing has been achieved?103 pages,2 pages, same to me if it doesn't work

What are you referring to by "doesn't" work? The technique there works for every Lumia 710 user and some Lumia 800 users. The thread contains valuable information about the bootloader itself and the filesystem on the phone. By saying that "nothing has been achieved" you are ignoring and offending the hard work of tenths of developers that risked bricking their devices by doing pioneer work. This thread has a great number of explained approaches how different levels of unlocks could be achieved and discusses how the current methods are blocked. Even by reading the last two pages you can see that there is still some movement. But most users just come here and complain without even trying to help to improve the situation.
If a fully unlocked phone is your priority, and the features that comes with it, you've chosen the wrong OS. Don't buy a phone expecting it to be unlockable. Your fault really.
Buy an android if you want a hacked device.
Sent from my Lumia 800 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Im not really talking about OS. Im a .NET developer and i want to experiment with interlop services in developement, also all of the otger devices like HTC Titan are fully unlocked so its a shame that Lumia family stays locked and even if i read whole DEV tread and i know everything about bootloaders in lumias, nothing interesting was achieved in DLOAD territory DEV thread is now filled with speculations but not with the actual progress.
Well, there's an easy solution for $99/yr

Right, never owned a windows mobile in my life, Im an android person, but Ive just bought a nokia lumia 800. The phone is a few months old but its in decent condition for its age. What can i do with this phone OR do to it (without screwing it up). I know the lumia 710 can be jailbroken (hate that terminology, jailbreaking is for ios devices). can the same be acheived with the lumia 800?? I guess i should do a search. Easy to do or a ball ache? Im still going to stick with my htc sensation but its handy to know this stuff and where better place to find the experts than on xda forums :highfive:
Any help and advice will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Edit.................Ive just found what Im looking for thanks

hi nice to see another lumia fan well it goes somthing like this
if your lumia has a qualcomm bootloader your free to install the custom rom in the dev thread on here but as i have found your phone might be on 7.35.0.0 and come up as qualcomm device but if you dont have access to the nand (in windows it would come up as a flash disc) then your pretty much stuck with stock roms and stock apps untill the dload bootloader is cracked. have a read in the dev forum there quite bit of info to get you started

Yes, no better mobile phone operating system in my book. I couldnt turn down the chance of the lumia because it was cheap. And a change is as good as a rest so the saying goes

Tip for when you need the phone to last longer (like weekend visits etc.)
Sync and mobile data is a huge battey drain. Disable mobile data and it the phone will last for days.
My advice is go slow..
With Android, most of the stock google applications like gmail were garbage so you had to go to the marketplace to find better versions.
Also, you have to root Android phones to get rid of crapware installed by carriers.
With WP7 and the Lumia..
Like iPhone, all the stock applications are excellent quality. The Mail program for instance is second to none; I don't even have any supplemental programs to it..
Also, while the Lumia will come with carrier crapware, you have probably already found out you can simply longpress and delete these with out jailbreaking or rooting. I understand this was a rule Microsoft imposed on all carrier programs to create another selling point for WP7..
So the only reason you would need to unlock would be to install homebrew applications, custom roms, or simply dicker around with the phone. All of which are fun to do but unnecessary.
In short, I found with Android (I had a Samsung Vibrant), you HAVE to unlock and Root just to have a good quality system. With WP7, you don't - the phone is good out of the gate and you only need to Root & jailbreak to do some higher level experimenting.
Good luck - hope you enjoy the phone!
What should I do?

Hello,
I have some carrier crapware into my Lumia 800 - it doesn`t let me to use another SIM card but the provider`s (it`s locked on Bouygues Telecom - France) And I was wondering if a NOOB`s guide to interop unlock my phone exists. Thanks.
Android convert
My first visit to the lumia 800 forums and I am in the same boat as the op.
I've been an android fanboy for several years (htc desire, samsung galaxy s, htc sensation, htc one x, acer iconica a500) and have found myself obsessed to the point of addiction. Yesterday, I bit the bullitt, put my one x on e-bay and ordered a network un-locked lumia 800 to be delivered today.
I would like advice on how to unlock the full potential of my device and will be reading this forum very carefully before I do anything risky but, before I start, could somebody possibly advise as to wether there is anything that is important to address before and during my initial set-up?
Hopefully I will not become too obsessed with my new venture and any informed advice would be much appreciated to a windows phone noob
ps Had a windows mobile 6.5 device a few years ago
Ive left the Lumia 800 as it is. I wanted to jailbreak it as I wanted to install a specific gps app, which I have on my androids but do you know what?? Nokia Drive is really really very good imo. Im happy with it as it is. The interface took me some getting used to though but thats just me. I will probably end up jailbreaking it in the end as this is what Im like, but for now, its ace

First few hours on the device and loving it. Couldn't sync google contacts which was really bothering me but did an update whilst searching for a solution and the update had solved the problem!
Would love to 'jailbreak' it (like to mess) but, rightly or wrongly, I am getting the impression that it's not possible on this. Any ideas how to do this? Is it like root access.
It's all very different to android but makes a great change so I think I'll be staying with this little beauty for some time.
