FAQs
+ Q: Whats the difference?
A: Read the disclaimer.
+ Q: Will I get worse performance than the Official CyanogenMod Kernel?
A: It depends on what commits are added. My Kernel only fixes bugs i can fix and which are unsolved and Of course, I will add more features not available in CyanogenMod Official
+ Q: What makes the stock kernel different?
A: You get goodies, and furthermore, better battery life and performance in this project.

updated new build 2 from smando's fix. Smando will be credited and added in all ARM.'s threads on each phone's next build.
Kernel must be smaller than 8mb. And you dont need to wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Also, sorry about that, but since this kernel only fixes bugs, this shouldn't be on Android development and not on original?

Soft-bricking your own phone with the just released kernel and then asking for help sure as hell isn't something worthy of the Original Development forum.
The discussions that went on in the Optimus Black thread seem to be pretty spot on with my first impression of what this is. The Nexus 4 thread already erupted in flames after 3 pages. You're doing blind kernel development on the Optimus 2X too.
Let's keep this short, as this is for you own sake. This reminds me too much of Netchip and problems that resulted from that drama.
You need to stop releasing things, close the current projects, go back into learning proper kernel development, source control, and need to work on that work ethic. Don't do blind development on devices unless you are a master of the platform. Come back once you have advanced on all those topics. Until then, this is just another useless and over-advertised project with fancy key-words.
And before anybody comes with some retort to this post of mine, this is for the sake of the community and all uninformed and un-knowledgeable users. The amount of bad developments on XDA is astounding and as far as I'm concerned I see it as a responsibility to close down on works in at least the device forums I'm active in.

Known Issues
Q/A
Q. Does this use a safe kernel?
A. Yes, at the moment it uses a pure CM kernel.
Q. How do I remove the pointer when using the S-Pen?
You can find info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27930142&postcount=936
Q. Can I use the Thor kernel?
A. Only if you want to break your device.
Android (and the linux kernel that powers it) are open source. If linux and it's kernel were not open source, Android would not exist, or at least as we know it. If the Linux kernel was not protected by the GPL but Android was still open source, most of the development on this forum couldn't happen, including this kernel. Linux is based on openness, and the community participating and improving the code. I am a very strong believer in openness, I personally only work on open-source projects, because that's how things get better, new developers learn, and how great ROM's like AOKP and CM are born. Now, to the Thor kernel. The Thor kernel is not open-source. The GPL states that source must be provided upon request whenever a binary is distributed (the zip you flash for Thor is the binary). This isn't a suggestion, it's the law. The developer of the Thor kernel decided that he was too good, and would blatantly ignore the law. Even though his work would not be possible without the GPL in place, because there would be no Samsung kernel source for him to base his kernel off of. Also, you take his word that his kernel is safe. Nobody can confirm that without source. For all you know, his kernel could be collecting information on you (carrier IQ anyone?) Note: I am not saying that that is what is happening. I am however saying, that you do not know it isn't. Other kernels have peer review, other developers can see what's happening on open-source kernels. That is also why you do not see his work on XDA, because we require source to be posted. /rant
Q. Where can I find the latest builds and their md5's?
A. All of the N7000 files will be posted here, old and new.
Thanks.

Nice work! Pure Kang coming back to the Note is good news.
The CM9 kernel is not very good battery wise. Are there plans to support other kernels like Speedmod or Franco?

nice, one more good developer for note
The kernel is stock CM9 at the moment. Last I checked neither speedmod nor franco were designed for AOSP ROM's, so no support for them yet. If that gets changed in the future, I will look at it.

Liquid was already using a leaked ICS kernel, so using franco's was just swapping the zImage.
In true fashion they should not work.

Most likely auto rotate will not work, and maybe wifi. Also you might face some force closes.
EDIT: in rare occasion it might not boot, so keep a flashable stock zip of this ROM in your sd card
Hi,
do we need to wipe data from CM9 ?
What I loved about AOKP vs CM9 was the lockscreen options to display calendar and weather but it seems that it's been merged in CM9 now so what are the + ?
thanks !

Hi,
Are you tired of your current ROM that has limited features? Are looking for one that you want to customize by yourself? Well here's the ROM for you. Have a minute to read and hopefully you'll be encouraged to test it.
This is The GN0M3 Project. This ROM has no customizations whatsoever. You will be the one to customize this, It's a fast clean stock ROM with under the hood speed enhancements and some personal tweaks. You would need to install GApps for both builds. With this ROM, you will have a Fast, Clean, Stock experience.
Why did I say "You'll be the one to customize it?"
Well, It's because I already integrated the Xposed framework into the ROM settings. And If you're going to ask me "Why no customizations and why with the Xposed framework only?" It's because some of the famous features of some Custom ROMs are already in one of the Xposed Modules, you just need to find them.
Anyways, this ROM will stay stock and only speed enhancements will be implemented, and also I will just focus on stability and such. The customizations you would want will be in one of the Xposed Modules. I'll just give you a stock, clean, snappy ROM and it's up to you to customize it.
Off topic is welcome in this thread as long as you RESPECT each other.
In a nut shell: "This is the do it yourself customization ROM"
To know more about Xposed Framework. Go here: CLICK ME!!! or HERE!!!
For people wondering whats the story behind this ROM is, here's a brief explanation:
I built this ROM based on Google's concept of Android of letting end users customize Android as the way that they want to. And yes we all did a lot of that since Custom ROM's appeared in different ways. But, some of them only have limited features that other end users doesn't really use them. So that brought up the idea to make a ROM that incorporates Google's concept of putting the customization into the end users hands. So in a nut shell this ROM will give you the ability to customize it whatever you want to do with it, and thanks to the Xposed Framework app, it is possible now. But of course not all features of other custom ROM's are already in some xposed modules, but as development grows it's not impossible to have them in some modules. Well, that's about it, hope people would now understand why I built this for the community.
Cheers and Happy Customizing!

Sm 4.9 toolchain
For People who wants to work on their ROM to build it with SM 4.9, I'll be uploading all my file changes to my git. There's a lot so you really need patience with this. For CM 10.2 you can check @IAmTheOneTheyCallNeo's Git to get the commits for SM Toolchain to work. I got the Idea from there and modified some to make it work on AOSP. Went through trial and errors but its part of it. Anyways, just check out my git.
How to get Toolchain
Sabermod 4.9 Toolchain
Code:
mkdir arm-linux-androideabi-4.9
cd arm-linux-androideabi-4.9
git clone https://github.com/SaberMod/android_prebuilts_gcc_linux-x86_arm_sabermod-arm-linux-androideabi-4.9
Then after cloning, copy the directory to your $ source/prebuilts/gcc/linux-x86/arm/ Folder, Then after that the modifications and patching begins.

Is there some sort of thread that compiles alll these different version names in order of release? I've looked around but all these JLS, JSS etc. are confusing.
Also, wasn't the previous Gn0m3 version on JSS15R? Anything different with these updates and with SM 4.9.0?

I updated it to JLS36G since it's the newer revision, and this current build is built with the SM 4.9 Toolchain, the previous one is GCC 4.8, SM Toolchain has a lot of tweaks and patches that make it perform better. JLS36G is pure AOSP and JWR66Y is a modified stock version for people who does'nt want the deadlocks. Don't have time to merge both builds yet since I had a lot of time making SM 4.9 to work(A lot of patches to be applied). Hope that answers your question

my favorite ROM from N4!!! excited
Substantially is the base AOSP from which the CarbonDev Team will construct its ROM.
You'll find Superuser, Performance Tool, Theme management, Dev Tools and something little else.
Donwloading, will post report as soon as it's installed.
Edit : ok, seems like ROM is not rooted and no included gapps. Everything is fluent, maybe more than stock. No new functionnality, just CM profiles.

oh yea NOW we're cookin with gas. Anybody know how long until we start getting official nightlies? I think im gonna struggle between this and OmniROM for a bit...
Which features have been ported to 4.4?/ what's missing

Nice to see new ROM coming out, just a question, CM profiles are (or will be) implemented?

Flash SuperSU to get root. Typically, ROMs don't include gapps especially ROMs that are <200MB. Flash PA gapps or whatever corresponding 4.4 gapps, I personally prefer Banks gapps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012857 (you get gmail, google maps etc on play store). No unnecessary gapps bloatware like including QuickOffice/Google earth/google drive/google music/etc.
It was also mentioned in OP about gapps, but yeah thanks for the reporting. This will be my main ROM once it has a decent number of additions that we'd all expect from Carbon.

aragog53 did mention that there aren't any new features except CM Profiles. I personally haven't flashed it but I see in the zip that there is Theme Chooser support. For the most part, its most likely just a barebones AOSP with minor features.
Thanks but this doesn't boot. How much did you test it before posting it?

Actually it does have root baked in. You can change the setting in dev mode. EDIT: you are right root is built in but doesn't seem to work. it also has...
Advance Power Menu
Performance CPU/Custom Kernel Control
Theme Engine
Expandable Sound
Pulse notification light ( I dont think this is stock could be wrong)
And profiles
I'm sure more will come, thanks op

Doesn't boot for me with Faux 002 beta 4. I actually got it to boot once but had endless com.android.phone force closes and am wiping to try again.
Attempted boot three times, once after wipe with flash of kernel, once after wipe with no kernel flash, and once with kernel flash after a successful boot.

Multiple force closes after flashing Franco's latest test .img as well. Suppose I will try Elemental at this point, nothing to lose.

Cherry pick list
* CyanogenMod's latest merges: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/q/status:merged+branch:cm-12.0,n,z
* CyanogenMod's Github: http://github.com/cyanogenmod
This is a kang of CM12 with cherry picks from CyanogenMod’s Gerrit Instance, compiled by a group of volunteers that enjoy learning about and building CyanogenMod and Android in general. All credit goes to cyanogen, #teamdouche and the coders who submit to Gerrit. Thank you to @RyanMacG for providing Euroskank hosting.
These builds are bleeding-edge, most comparable to a nightly build, and are not meant for inexperienced users. Things will be broken and crash from time to time, you need to accept that this isn't stable by any means before flashing. Nandroid as often as possible.
How to post useful, informative bug reports:
Sometimes dev's actually check out our threads, or sometimes we have a good relationship with a dev or two. These bleeding-edge builds will have issues, and having good information on what's broken is great feedback before a feature is merged. Here are some good bug reporting tips:
* No bug reports while using custom kernels or add-ons:
CyangenMod's own bug reporting tool does not accept bug reports from people using non-stock kernels for a reason, so why should we? CM can merge changes to their kernel causing custom kernels to break things until they catch up. Therefore, please do not post any bug reports while using a custom kernel or add-on such as Xposed Framework. Post your issues with custom kernels in their own respective threads as they are the ones who need to play catch up. Any bug report posted in this thread should be while running CM's stock framework and kernel, as this prevents unnecessary clutter.
* Gapps are not a CM issue:
CyanogenMod is built to run without the assistance of Google's proprietary apps (gapps). Having issues with your Google account and syncing is a gapps issue, not a CM issue. Please do not post about any gapps related issues, just wipe data and try a different gapps package.
* Posting about the same bug every build:
Beating a dead horse with "bug X still isn't fixed" posts just adds unnecessary clutter and provides no help into actually fixing the issue. Some bugs take days to squash, some take weeks. Please don't report the same bug every time a build is uploaded.
* Logs:
Provide logcats when applicable. Use a service like Pastebin and put a link to the log in the post. Please do not post logs directly to the forum.
If these requests are too demanding, there's good news! CyanogenMod is open source, so please feel free to download the source code, compile your own builds volunteering your time and resources, then start a thread and run it however you see fit. All we simply ask is that people post good, reliable information that can be passed on to a developer that can actually do something with it, making CM a better product for everyone involved.

I'm assuming this will work on Sprint. If not there's a fix in both flashable zip form and a commit devs can use to get it working.

I don't understand what the problem is with sprint. The nexus 5 is an unlocked phone. But why are we having issues with some ROMs? is it APN related?

Yeah on AOSP based Roms, there's an extra commit that the devs need to include to get data to work on Sprint. I'm guessing in a couple weeks this won't be an issue as most of if not all Roms will have the fix included.

Make sure you are doing wipe BEFORE and not AFTER the flash (Wipe, flash, boot. NOT wipe, flash, wipe, boot). Check to make sure your IMEI is in place. If it is, confirm your APN settings. If it's not, that's a different story.

Hello everyone, after long studying both kernel and ROMs, I've decided to start building a ROM of my own.
Download
It is recommended to use F2FS.
Recovery - Wipe - advanced wipe - Select internal card - FS options - Check F2FS and swipe.
Remember that you'll loose everything on your internal memory.
Partition configuration i recomend for best speed:
cache --> F2FS
Internal Data -->F2FS
System --> EXT4
Features:
Updated SQL to 3.22.0
New Kernel
Proguard 6.0
F2FS ready for data and cache
ColorOs Blobs (much better quality) -Coming soon
latest webp
root
Compiled with device specific clang and gcc.
More coming soon
I'm a very practical user, and my aim will be to get a very fluid stable system, at the same time with speed and battery, keeping most stock possible with the optimizations which will improve for real our experience.
Thanks
What works for now:
Everything

Big thanks to @RobbieL811 for the patience and help he provided to create these builds.
Thanks also for the experience i won with @ak @savoca @Lord Boeffla @ZaneZam by discussing and learning about the kernel. Big thanks to @dorimanx. Thank you @franciscofranco for commits to improve kernel!
As you might know, all credits go to CyanogenMod Team.

Frequently asked questions:
You problably wondering why i say is CAF+Google+CM. It's in fact very easy... and i have seen many threads which mislead the interpertation. Google provides AOSP+ kernel patches for the nexus devices which are for our chipset.
Qualcom provides CAF changes which is over linux kernel changes and google changes. (in other words kernel is linux based and frameworks/art/bionic are based on the google stuff which is also based on linux)
We still have CM changes.
So basically how it works? i'll simplify
We use Google as base which includes CAF changes and CM changes... and with this ROM... jgcaap changes
Flashing instructions:
1) Firmware (I'll keep updated always when necessary.)
2) ROM
3) Slim Gapps (don't flash any other)
4) Let me know how it go.
Notes:
1) keep new modem which is on the op, also compatible with oxygen modem (I'll upload)
2) flash rom after rebooting recovery
3) kernel development will be 4.03 and upward.
So why Add CAF on some roms at tittle?
Basically is linux kernel with CAF changes without google or CM changes on kernel (and kernel only)
But let me add you some knowledge here. What you call CAF is in fact Oxygen OS kernel. In other words, what Devs which have on title CAF which is related to 3.4.0 kernel is in fact linux+CAF+Oxygen OS.
Oxygen OS changes is only compatible with blobs which are from oxygen OS, and we do not use it. So because of that, the rom problably won't boot in case you flash a "CAF" kernel
Why some Devs use the called CAF and some CM source?
Depends on preference. I prefer CM because i believe is the best not only on performance but also never had issues with it. But there might be different experiences regarding the phone you have since we all have different batches. There are devs which believe that compability issues might be related to some CM commits. As also, there are devs which think the other way around.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What changes have you made between versions?
A: All changes made are the same as CyanogenMod ROM which can be found here: http://www.cmxlog.com/13/bacon/ and all manual changes will be also stated on 2nd post.
You can also check on Settings --> About where is all the changes .
Q: What is LZ4?
A: Read here about the project: https://github.com/Cyan4973/lz4
Q: Was latest build used LZ4?
A: This is still under testing and I'm working on it. It'll be on the test folder.
Q: What is the test folder?
A: Unstable, and test builds where I seek to study a new configuration to enhance user experience.
Q: Why don't you always share change logs?
A: Limited time. Sorry about it.
Q: I'm confused. I have no clue which build is the latest!
A: You can always download again!
Q: Your site have ads why?
A: Need help on extra wealth to survive. Leave some clicks while you visit is only nice.
Q: I want more from the rom!
A: Me too!
Q: Why you sometimes ignore users?
A: I never ignore, just don't have time to answer all. Please help one another and also use search button. I think you prefer me learning to bring something nice than post all the time right? hehe
Q: I have so many questions to ask you!
A: I can provide many answers! Just ask!
Q: Can I PM you?
A: Only when is urgent!
Q: How to report bugs?
A: Our bugs are CM bugs. Report on JIRA: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org
Q: Are you CyanogenMod maintainer?
A: No, just an user which wants to have better builds possible. But would be nice to see CM adding me to the contributions list.
Q: Which Firmware do you use?
A: Download here: http://download.jgcaap.xyz/files/oneplusone/firmware/ as I'll provide the firmware there.
Q: Why Slim gaaps? Open Gaaps are so much cool!
A: Open Gaaps has provided many unstable issues which makes the phone unusable until a clean format. Slim gaaps have shown to be better on that.
Q: Why some buttons of UKM don't work?
A: Need time to improve that..
Q: I want an update app to auto update roms. To lazy to check the thread!
A: I understand, for now is not feasible to do it as I need time to analyse and understand best solution as I update tool-chains regularly and also is not my priority. Remember time is limited for me.
Q: Why picture is upside down?
A: Ask the app developer to fix it as it mounts incorrectly.
Q: But upside down is from stock app you have on rom?
A: You problably changed kernel. Either use stock or a version which supports the find7 blobs.
Q: Why does the Rom charge slow ? Please add quick charge feature!
A: Quick Charge is not available for our device, what is available is the option to lower or increase the mAh input of the charger, which will lead to a slower or faster charging process. This has been lowered to save the battery lifetime, because if you heat to much the battery the acids start to become basic and loose it's capacity to store electricity. But you still have the option to change this by flashing UKM (which is available on the server) and by installing synapse. Here is another thing I like to avoid:
http://www.phonearena.com/news/OnePlus-One-bursts-into-flames-while-charging-in-India_id84509
Q: Why not overclock?
A: Two reasons. One it damages the device. Second makes it heat, and if you read the answer before this question, you'll understand easily that it'll stress battery and make it loose its battery lifetime faster. as also it'll degrade the inboard components faster. Remember your phone is not a toy and there can be other damages done.
Q: Are you responsible for any damages we take?
A: Everything is tested, and I use it daily. If you have any damages you can only contact the company OnePlus to see if the warranty covers it. I am not responsible for any damages you have with your device.
Q: Can you add a bunch of features to kernel ? I want 20 schedulers!
A: Kernel has to be small. So i'll only add the necessary.
Q: Can you compile with O3? Or Just Archi? I heard is super cool.
A: Already was on that path and quickly learned that the force of the light is the way. May the force be with you.
