Phone: Galaxy Nexus
Application: Titanium Backup
Android: 4.1 -> 4.2.1
ROM: AOKP
Has anyone seen a TiBu issue similar to the one in attached screenshot? Notice the ? as name of application in the 3 backups.
The backup files are fine, and work on the ROM they were created on AOKP 4.1, but they don't work on AOKP 4.2.1. Once I wipe the phone clean and load the new ROM (I've tried several versions of 4.2.1 with the same issue), the backups just don't restore. It says that 'Restore successful for ?' but the application's data becomes corrupted and it fails to update even from the app itself. Most apps FC after such a restore.
I don't know if this has any effect, but the TiBu backups are encrypted, but it is supposed to ask for a password while restoring the data - which it doesn't on the upgrade.
I tried contacting TiBu support but its been more than a week with no response (I'm a TiBu Pro paid user)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im concerned about the upcoming update: Im using MIUI rom and i will swap to MIUI v4 (iCS) as soon as it comes out... but im tired of losing my user data between every rom swap...
I know Titanium Backup should be the way to do this... so, is it safe to backup all the apps and the apps' data and then restore it on ICS? even when the backup was made in a GB rom?
Any alternative way of doing so? What do you usually do / recommend to do?
Thanks!
You can back up and restore the apps no problem, though I would be careful restoring user data. What I do is restore all apps and use sms backup/restore for my texts and Google takes care of my contacts.

Well, I don't really think it should matter if the backup was done in GB and restored in ICS. One thing could happen, is that you may have been using an application that isn't yet compatible with ICS. Other than that, I don't really see why there should be a problem.
Have a good day.
The biggest problem is for the apps settings and games progress and so... with titanium backup, i should backup user apps + data and then restore it in ICS?

To be a 100% sure put the TB folder on your pc and on an external card.
I tried restoring TiBu apps backed up on GB when I flashed an LPQ ROM and TiBu hanged on some of the restores. I had to restart each time it hung on a restore. I tried using batch restore, and restoring individually, both ways it happened on different apps and the same app. It was weird because my SMS logs restored no problem but some of my apps could not. Luckily I had a Nandroid backup so I quickly went back to my daily driver.
Titanium backup likes a phone reboot after first install .
Install open reboot phone less likely to freeze or hang on backup .

i also had over 200 applications, out of which some randomly failed to install on CM9. After failure of restore, i again have to start restoring process in titanium backup from start leaving that applicatoin. Luckily, I dint find any problem in restoring to PURE ICS rom, it just resotred everything like a charm. Some applicatoin (like smartstats) were crashing after restore. I just wiped the data () and then it worked.
I am currently on CheckRom 6 and i want to update to an CM9 or AOKP based Rom. So which part of my backups (Titanium Backup &CMW) can be restored after the update? Nothing? Just apps? Apps & app data? SMS/MMS?
I read that there are Problems with CM9 and Titanium Backup. Does this also apply to AOKP?

You will get all your apps and data, but sms and contacts can somtimes fail restore as there are thr diffrences between diffrent roms.
Also for the CWM i am guessing that you mean nandroid backup, if so you will get all of you that. Check out my sig for a link to moving roms and backing up data.
Thanks. Yes, i meant a nandoid backup but i wanted to restore only the sms/mms via app extractor. But it is not a big deal if it does not work, sms are not that important.
For people who are interested:
My experiences for updating from CheckRom 6 to Resurrection Remix 1.8.1:
-restoring user apps with titanium backup: worked fine, no problems
-restoring sms/mms with SMS Backup & Restore (from Google Play): FC when opening sms app for the first time. Tried Go SMS and it worked fine, all old messages were there. Tried stock app a second time: works too, no more FCs.
Hello!
I have CWM Touch Recovery v6.0.3.1. A couple of hours ago, I made a NANDroid backup before flashin a new ROM. When I attempted to use NANDroid backup manager to restore my apps and data, the app said I had no apps in the backup. Upon reviewing the files CWM created, I discovered that it created several data.ext4.tar files. Is there a way to combine these so I can use the Nandroid backup manager to restore my apps. I've managed to restore call logs, text messages and wifi data but my apps are important too
Thanks in advance for the help ^-^
EDIT: I do realise I could probably use CWM for restoring but I want to restore specific apps and not the data. (I.e the recently updated hotmail app)
Plus, restoring with CWM flashes data that is incompatible with the new ROM.
full back up or partial back up

As far as i know Nandroid backup is used to restore previously backed up ROM+installed applications+app data . If you jus want to back up some application, just use something like "Titanium Backup", it workes great.
:good: If it helped you, Just hit the THANKS :highfive:
Titanium, Backup (TiBu) has an option for extract from nandroid backup in its menu. why dont you try that if u have TiBu installed ..
Thank you but I solved my problen a while ago.

A nandroid backup is used to backup the system,boot,recovery... In case your phone is bricked but if yout want to backup apps just use an application like titanium backup
Dear fellows,
I hope this is a right place to ask my question here. If not please please tell me and head me over to an other thread where this has been discussed.
I've rooted the S4 mini successfully (thanks to arco68). Right after the rooting process and installing ARCO's CWM I backed up the stock 4.4.2 rom in any case. I did a factory reset and flashed CM 11 also successfully and everything was good. After a week I wanted to go back to stock. So I restored the backup I made previously. Everything went out good, but now the whole system is inconsistent and instable. I have problems with the WiFi, SD card problems and so on.
What am I did wrong? Any advise is very welcome
I will flash stock via Odin tomorrow and root it again. But I want to avoid this process in future
Thanks
First, thanks to the AndroWook team for an excellent ROM, easy to install and very well supported on these forums. My install went perfectly from all of the help and instruction that was provided on these forums. My question is less about the ROM and more about how to selectively restore application data from a backup of the previous stock JB ROM. When I installed the TWRP recovery, I did a full backup of my old ROM before installing hairy bean, but I don't know how to grab the data from about 10 applications I have from the old ROM. Is there anyway to selectively restore the data from these apps? Should I even consider doing this? I have my pictures and music and contacts, but not my app data. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Found Titanium backup
Never mind. I've discovered the wonders of titanium backup and it's selective application restore.
I would like to know if someone has installed the latest OMNI 4.4.2 rom for SG2 (2013-12-17) and could restore a WhatsApp backup from SD card without issues.
Thanks in advance,
Roberto.
I'm running Omni latest on S2.
What do you exactly mean by restoring Whatsapp from SD?
Do you mean the app or the messages?
Also how are you trying to restore, by TiBu?
I had tried to restore my sms and whatsapp messages from a previous JB rom on to Omni and TiBu restored only some of the messages and a lot of them were missing.
What kind of issues are you having?

I haven't flash the latest Omni rom yet and I wanted to know if others were able to restore the WhatsApp message history from an SD card. I don't mind not having all messages, just the last few days would be fine. Anyway, I just wanted to know the experience of others regarding restoring a WhatsApp message history from Jelly Bean (4.1.2) into this new rom.
Much appreciated!

I restored whats'app after migrating ICS stock rom --> CM 10.1 from a save made with Titanium Backup. There was no problem, and whatsapp even not asked me about activating my account.
in 2012, I used the autosave feature of whatsapp to restore message history after a nasty and unexpected factory reset on LG P970 : this worked well too ( but I had to reactivate my account )
To be sure to get your messages back : before flashing :
- perform a save of whatsapp with Titanium backup.
- perform an immediate message history save from within whatsapp menu.
after rebooting with new rom : restore app+data from Titanium backup. If this not work, clean whatsapp data from application menu, start whatsapp and choose to restore from backup.
