Okay so I have a Xt912 running on ICS and i'm having issues with gsm. Im from Guam and using a Docomo Pacific Micro SIM but not getting any service or anything. Isn't it supposed to work on the global option? Anybody know how to resolve this issue? Oh and I get that "SIM from unknown source" message too. Any help or tips?
Help
Anybody?
"sim is from unknown service" is OK. you can get rid of this message by deleting vzwphoneservice.apk.
xt912 is global phone and working fine with gsm/umts in europe.
have u tried to switch modes in phone settings?

Yes I have tried switching to gsm/ umts and left it for a while but no luck, even tried switching to global and still the same thing. No service at all and its really frustrating! About getting rid of that phone service app, how do I go about that?

try to get new microsim, try new carrier. if nothing, it's a problem with your phone.
to remove apk from /system/app you need to root your phone and install root explorer.

just a quick question, could the reason for not getting any service or signal be that I have the JB US firmware? I'm from Guam btw.

Then what can possibly be the cause? I tried flashing custom roms, reflashing stock jb rom, setting phone to Global mode or gsm/umts and nothing happens. My phone cannot connect to any gsm network.

A second time: just use LTE On/Off. It does the same thing.
As far as I know they didn't remove the menu, the just removed the shortcut through the dialer.
It's still there its *#*#3646#*#* just used it for a bootloop
just download an app "LTE OnOFF - Htc Thunderbolt" it works xD

You can switch between CDMA, LTE, CDMA/LTE, and various GSM bands. For most people (like me!), its not super important...but don't take away my options!

I think you guys are out of luck for the time being because the OTA only seems to download from VZW not over WiFi
Just fly to the US. Visit a Verizon store, and ask kindy too use demo sim to get update.
Ok, just kidding. Many somehow get root explorer and place the otapkg.zip in cache to see if that works

Found it thanks... But sadly not rooted the phone yet maybe I don't want to root the phone I think my only option is to wait for the ruu or travel to the US by the way I tried to get the update by putting the vzw micro sim that came with the phone but still nothin... It's curious that had signal in roaming but no luck anyway my interest for the update is to try the new radios does the update really improves the HSPA performance???

I think u have to erase ur cid than flash jb EU kernel and then EU jb rom, there is tutorial for BMM, search it and read through it, should work the same way like flashing cdma Roms to XT910

Backup your cid and try these stuff..

Flashing an XT910 ROM won't help you.
XT912 is capable of working on same carrier frequencies as XT910 without any modification.
XT912 is the Verizon version which can run on GSM networks outside US.
So if something is wrong on your carrier side, it won't solve,
while if something is wrong on your phone side, if fixable, it can be fixed without flashing a GSM ROM.

What baseband and modem revision are you running?
It sounds like the area that you're in just doesn't have good coverage in the bands that the Verizon GS4 covers. If you have an AWS-capable modem, it might get you better coverage (if T-mobile has AWS, that is.). But in the end, you bought a Verizon phone. Using it on other carriers is always going to be spotty.

Well follow this to the T of you want to root and rom and also read read read as I don't have safe strap and doesn't apply to me. I have the first bootloader is why I don't really have to to much info on it. Also if you don't care maybe just update to the newest and have the newest radios to test. They are better imo.
