I recently got a driod razr for some reason it will not let me set the allow all devices and when I connect to the internet on my computer while tethering as a Mobile Hotspot it tells me that there is limited access. If anyone has any tips let me know thanks so much
Is your RAZR rooted? If so there are plenty of functional apps in the market.

wifi tether help
Hi guys,
Im trying to help a friend, He has the Verizon Samsung Fascinate, the phone is rooted, has super user. I Dl'd and installed the Android wifi tether 2.07apk from the google dev site. started up the app. started tether without issue, looked on my Toshiba Thrive Tablet, found the android tether wifi, tried to connect and message pops up on my tablet stating something about adhoc is not supported.
I have a Droid Incredible running Nil's sense 3.5 rom and have the same android tether app, I can start up tethering, turn tethering on, connect and surf the web on my tablet, with no mention of the adhoc compatibility thing.
Im not up on Samsung devices, I have always had HTC phones. So im not sure if this a Samsung issue or what.
I compared his tether app settings to mine and both are the same.
Im at a loss here and could really use some advice about how to fix the issue.
I thought these phones natively support USB tethering. Can anyone comment on their experience with it?
My RAZR Maxx is on order, and I'll test it when I get it.
USB tether is supported on my GSM XT910. No idea about the CDMA Razr Maxx.
I have the app on my cdma verizon phone but havent used it yet.
Works well on my GSM XT910, (SEAOP) stock.
Ummm how do you use it?
plug it in and there's a menu or something?
Plugin the phone
Menu - Settings - wireless & Network. - Tethering & Hotspot - USB Tethering
The network will appears if needed drivers are installed.

And then the computer uses the internet conection of the razr.. but the other way round seems to be only possible with a lot of working around. Isn't that really possible without software and stuff?
I use PDAnet on my phone all the time. It's very easy to use and you don't have to be rooted to use it either. Also try Easy Tether.

The point is that USB tether is included, so why use an app?
I think Verizon cdma makes u pay for tethering
Pdanet works good...i paid for it back in the day...then some super cool devs starting making it work for free...yay....no more apps

I'd need reverse tethering too. I'd need a solution without wifi but cable and without installing software on the pc connected (cause at work I have no permission to do that) and without root. Can anyone help?

Wow, sounds like someone wants to skirt the filters to watch pr0n at work! j/k
My apologies if this is the wrong area to post. I'm not sure where else to look but Google has not helpful. I have a Droid Razr running rooted 2.3.6 verizon version 6.12.173. I rooted using motofail, quick and simple root. Issue is I cant use wifi tether. I've tried 3 different programs and when I try to connect my computers to the wifi, I'm unable to pull an ip, on my ipad, a friends iphone, my mac book, my win 7 laptop and my win 7 desktop with a wireless usb adapter. Same on all 3 programs, using authentication or not. Good ole 169 ip.. cant get out. HOWEVER if I connect my ipad via bluetooth to my Razr I can surf. Not using the Bluetooth option in the wifi tether apps, but tuning on bluetooth on my phone and my ipad, pairing then connecting and then I'm able to surf. I mean thats cool and all, but its slow, real slow, extremely slow. How can I get my wifi tether to work? Any suggestions? Thanks
Go to droidrazrroot.com there is how to video that is perfect.

I also have a RAZR XT912 that I would like to enable WiFi tethering on. I assume I will have to root it. I'm on Verizon in the U.S. I'm reading through the RAZR forums now.
I use FoxFi for wifi tethering on my Razr MAXX. It is in the play market. I am rooted on stock ICS ROM but FoxFi says you don't need root.

I just installed Wireless Tether for Root Users [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=android.tether and it works great. Seems pretty fast even on 3G.
I rooted with the DroidRazrRoot.com_ICS.zip kit and that went smooth as well. You have to remember to install the Motorola drivers for the phone first and that was mostly waiting. This was on windows 7.
replaced my droid razr through assurion i have unlimited data and had my old device rooted and set up to do wireless tether.
its a 98.72.16 xt912 running 4.1.2 with 3.0.8 kernel
i rooted the phone tried market apps as well as apks for wireless tether and trev-e s mod with no luck
i romed the phone to artmod4.3 and tried more apks and apps no luck so
went back to square one un rooted re rooted with droid razr utility (thanks again mattlgroff )
tried apks and market versions they say they are working but do not emit any signal no wifi is given with any apps other than my basic easy tether usb.
i used root checker and verified the new root. im not sure what to try next i need to get my wireless tether back asap and have been looking into threads and other forums to see if anyone has insight or advice on any other approach to take ( free options preferably ).
let me knowif ya have any tips thanks for browsing
