Hi everyone,
After small battle with my Prime to get root I finally decided to unlock to get free of stock rom. But I was doing every possible OTA and that was mistake - now I have JB with its bootloader. Now the problem is that I cannot use nvflash as it needs ICS bootloader.
The question is: if it will be possible to enable nvflash on my device in any non-destructable way (I mean I can accept full wipe, but not risk bricking device as I don't have nvflash) soon?
My situation in detail: TF201 unlocked with JB bootloader, TWRP recovery, AndroWook HairyBean v1.51 [4.1.1].

Just curious about the Primeeval Stock Rom
after seeing this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24667031&postcount=18
i was wondering if it is possible to flash this on a Prime that is not Rooted or unlocked?
the thread suggest that you cant have an unlocked Prime, but do i need it to be rooted?
Otherwise is there a way to install CWM without root and without unlocking?
I only ask because after rooting my prime under 9.4.2.15 i realized i had the serial unknown error, so i could not do an OTA update to 9.4.2.21, after a manual update to 9.4.2.21 i now have a serial, but rootkeeper could not restore root, I NOW know that you cant do manual updates and still keep root.

In order to flash a custom ROM onto your Prime, you need the bootloader to be unlocked. You do not need root to do it as there are fastboot methods for both rooted an unrooted Primes.
thanks, although i think they mention on that thread that its a stock rom that wont work on unlocked devices.
i guess you have to be rooted instead.
Hello everyone, just got my tf201. Haven't done anything to it yet, so it's still locked and on ICS 9.4.2.28
Should I just upgrade to official JB OTA or should I go ahead and unlock the bootloader then nvflash to JB rom...?
From reading several threads it seems that some people are trying to update OTA but can't because of unlocked bootloader, and some people are trying to come back to 2.28 in order to gain root...any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks~
If you want to have a safe backup to restore from then you will need to unlock to make an NVFlash backup so that you can always recover your device.
Hi,
I have a TF201 running ICS WW version.
I've been searching for days now trying to understand how you update to JB from ICS without bricking your device as there seems to be various warnings that your bootloader must be the correct version in order to flash the correct rom.
So my version is 2.10. I would have assumed from the numbering that that implies I have a HC bootloader? But I'm currently running ICS.
So, im sorry if this is a rookie question, but how do I update to JB from ICS when my bootloader is this version. Or perhaps more directly, how do I update my bootloader version to the JB version so I can then flash the correct ROM.
On a side note, I seem to have both CWM recovery mode 5.5.0.4 and TWRP v2.3.0.0 installed. Currently however I can only access TWRP by holding down volume down and power which brings me straight to the multiple choice of fastboot, TWRP. cold boot and wipe.
I have installed nvFLASH and backed up my blobs prior to all this - in case something like this happened
Thanks for your time
The easiest way to upgrade to the JB Boot loader is to just flash a rom that has it included such as Androwook 1.3 from the dev forum. Since you have nvflash victory you're safe from about any brick as long as you have your file back ups backed up 3x over

wonderful thank-you! im now happily using HB 1.51 .
That's good, but I'm stuck in the same way and that rom is not available anymore...
Any suggestion or link to that rom?
Help please.
Hey Everyone, this is my first post.
I've got a tf201 rooted with JB onto which I would like to flash TWRP. However, I've been unable to do so because I am unable to unlock the bootloader. After searching, it seems like downgrading to ICS may work to unlock, but this appears to be pretty risky without custom recovery. Is this the case? If so, is there a way to flash recovery without unlocking? If not, is there a relatively safe way to downgrade to ICS without custom recovery?
Any information is welcome!

You cannot downgrade to ICS without nvflash backups and you cannot make nvflash backups unless you are on ICS.
Hi,
I have a few questions regarding rooting my TF201 - Jelly Bean - 4.11 Tablet.
I have found that because I got the JellyBean I can't get access with NVFLASH to take a full memory dump, which is annoying and I probably don't want to downgrade my bootloader to gain that...
I have put off rooting and such because it was £500+ and I saw the article about it getting 4.3 so I could deal with the forced install stuff, but now it seems that was a fake, I want to put on a custom rom with 4.3 once it becomes stable.
I watched the video where you can unlock the device using ASUS' .APK file, I got the file but it says ICS ONLY (is this a lie? Can I use it on my device?)
I gained root by using the motochopper exploit and updated it to use Koush's SuperUser.
I was wanting to use TWRP but seen lots of things about bricking the device, I have had a locked bootloader in the past on my Nexus One and I could install a recovery image, is this the same with this device, or do I definitely need to unlock my tablet to install recovery and then install a custom rom.
Is there anything else I've missed? Is the ICS Downgrade worth the risk in order to get NVFLASH amongst others?
Can I install recovery with a locked bootloader?
Can I unlock my bootloader with the APK?

You can unlock the bootloader with the Asus APK. Ignore the ICS only note.
You must be unlocked to install a custom recovery.

Perfect, thanks for the response!
Keep in mind that you're in the same boat as I am. You received a tablet updated to JellyBean. No nvflash love for us. Be careful. You CAN still brick this tablet with a recovery. I managed to do it with my last one. Do not ever use goomanager with the prime. Ever.

Hold the phone, you can put a custom recovery on a TF201 after it has stock JB? I thought it always bricked it...
