Been working fine on CM9 since Beta 1. Good to know it's working on CM10 if I decide to upgrade. Thanks!

I tried loading one of the nightlies onto my cm9 touchpad awhile back and it crashed at startup. I suppose now that I'm on cm10 I'll give it another shot.

Too bad HW decoding is not working yet. HD playback is choppy unless you use an external player (which does seem work pretty well, no go with SMB shares though).

It's actually working quite well on my TP. I've paired it with my desktop running PS3 Media Server and it's streaming the stuff with less choppiness than my PS3! Quite impressed.

Install the NEON version of both apps.
Set MX Player Decoder to use hardware decoder. Turn on both local and network options.
Do a test of MX Player before installing XBMC.

CM7 and Moonsoon's Vulkano

Well I am on my third Gingerbread rom (6th overall rom) and I finally have gotten the Vulkano to stream in all situations. Last night I downloaded CM7's nightly build 58 and flashed my G-Tablet. Installation was very smooth using clockworkmod and all 128 apps were restored using Titanium back with no problems. I had wiped and formated just about everything I could before doing the installation. After that I went to the market and downloaded the Vulkano player and at last sucess. I was able to stream from the vulkano both locally and over the internet. I realize some other people have had sucess using Corwins rom (CM7 based), and that was going to be next if this did not work. I had previously tried G-Harmony with no sucess, and then Vegan Tab GB with limited succes. The strange thing with Vegan Tab was it would stream over the internet however it would not stream when I was home locally. Watching the bandwidth I was getting at home the software player seemed to choke everytime it was over 1 mb/sec. When I was out of the house and connected over the internet it worked fine at speeds anywhere from 300-900k. This leads me to believe the hardware accelleration that is now included in CM7 is working with this app allowing it to run over my local network. Another thing that I have struggled with is getting recorded shows downloaded to my G-Tab. Well I still can not get it to work with any rom and the vulkano player but I have a work around for now. By down loading the videos using UPNPdownloader (avlalable in the market for free) you can then watch the recordings using MOBOPlayer or Rockplayer. Now for even better news when Rockplayers asks if you want to use hardware decoding and you answer yes the videos run close to flawlessly. On the other two GB roms it obviously would not work using the hardware decoding. They did run on the roms using the software decoding but they would stutter even at the lowest recorded resolutons. When playing high quality recordings they would be unwatchable due to the delay in video processing in which the sound which was a full 3-5 seconds ahead of the picture. This would make all sense since the Vulkano records in the H.264 video format and if I am not mistaken that is the portion of hardware accelleration that is working. Well I hope this helps someone else.
Lastly I do miss the Vegan Tab interface, the VT Launcher was very smooth and the rom was much more tablet oriented. I can not wait until gojimi includes this in his rom since the rom is CM7 based if I am not mistaken. Please excuse any typos and good luck.

Interesting. I have a vulkano, and am running vegantab with pershoot's latest overclocked kernel - I have not gotten around to getting it set up, but under that other OS (er, iOS?) I would pull over 2Mbit/sec (more like 3) for local HD content, and 1.5+ for remote (yay for comcast HSI) - I should test it out. I'll let you know what I see tomorrow!

Sounds good I am interested to see what happens. I am currently streaming between 1.6 and 2.0 mb/secs locally using the wireless router Verizion put in when I got Fios. My iphone streams locally between 300k - 600k usually.

VeganGinger just gives me a black screen and spinning "buffering" with the Vulkano inside the home. Meh. Not so good!
For the record, Vulkano (Monsoon) refuses to support G Tab and Android 2.2 at all. I'm now in a legal war with these clowns. be careful on CM7 as you may still encounter buffering quite often and screen lockups.
Vulkano issues on CM7 for Evo
I have the Vulkano player working flawlessly on my Nook Color running CM7.1 RC1
However, I cannot for the life of me get it working CM7 and my Evo 4G. Tried the stable and testing builds. I'm still debating if I really want to move to a nighly, but I might just do it to see if it works and restore back to 7.1 RC1.
BTW, I'm so happy they finally have a root process for the Evo 4G on Gingerbread!

Hello,
I am trying to make if possible the android vulkano application to work with 4.4.2 or Lollipop and stream while the screen is off.
This was possible with my 2.3.7. But with newer devices seems impossible. I am digging up some old vulkano posts incase somebody figured this out.
Thank you very much.

[Q] What's the most stable Froyo ROM?

I currently have 'VEGAn-TAB ROM BETA 5.1 FINAL' installed as of yesterday and it's already crashed while I was watching a video. I know Gingerbread doesn't have video acceleration so I would like to avoid that if possible.
They're all pretty darn stable. And they're all listed at my site.

It may not be the rom that caused this...what video player was being used? what file format was the video in? when did you select if you were given the option of hard coding or soft coding? Where there are plethora of apps running in the background? What exactly was the "crash, forced reboot, lock up, video/audio distortion? Did the video file play properly on another device, ie your computer?
There are many players out there, some work well, some work kinda "eh." Some can't handle some video formats, some can play them, but not properly. Some vieo formats require decoding, hard or soft (I like hard when speaking of ice cream, but software decoding ususally works for my videos).
I'm using BC (the 1.2 version of VEGAn 5.1.1), and rockplayer to play video. I've been thinking of trying moboplayer, since it seems to have received rave reviews on this and other forums. I've been able to play .avi files with software decoding. MP4 files play fine, but the quality isn't as good..they're made for mobile devices with really tiny screens.
When I rip or download a movie, I almost ALWAYS make sure that it runs fine on my Acer netbook (same screen size) to get a general idea of what I can expect on the G-Tab.
in a nutshell, your issue may not be the rom at all...VEGAn 5.1.1 is probably one of, if not THEE most stable 1.1 based rom out there.

Hulu on the GTab

Is anyone currently able to watch Hulu either on the website or through the Hulu Plus app?
If so, what Rom are you using and what version of Flash?
I can get to the website and start the video but so far after it plays the first commercial the video will stop, the audio will play but the video freezes
OR
It will play until it gets to a commercial, it will play the commercial and ten never resume playing
OR
it wont even make it past the first commercial, it will play the ad but will then stop playing and get stuck on a black image...
Ive tried CM7, Flashback, Vegantab Ginger Edition (couple different versions) as well as multiple versions of Flash...
Having the same issues. 1.1bl, Vegan Ginger 7.1, Vgeezyflash.API 11.0
Having issues too.
Using the Flashback 10.0 alpha (Honeycomb 3.1) rom and can't get hulu or most flash items to load right/
If I click around and end up hitting play I'll get sound on hulu, but that's all.
I think it has something to do with later flash versions using Hardware Acceleration and the gtab not supporting it or something.
I've tried the stock browser, Dolphin for Pad, Dolphin HD and Opera Mobile/mini all with the user agents set to Desktop.
I've tried flash from these locations:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9476506&postcount=26
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077914
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076612
I always get the same result.
The websites I use to test are, newgrounds, hulu and a google search for "fart soundboard".
On Hulu I only get sound, on newgrounds flash items are just a blank spot and the fart soundboard will make noise if i click on it but I can't see any of the buttons I'm pressing.
I've read other posts of people saying the have got hulu to work but they fail to mention where the got the flash apk.
Get the PlayOn Mobile app and stream it as well as many others right from your pc to anywhere your connected to wifi, been using it awhile now and until we can stream directly from the site, this is a GREAT alternative

Thanks for the tip!
Update:
Using Opera Mobile 11.1 (with the user agent set to "desktop" in its settings, from this post and the latest version of Flash Player 11 from the Android Market get's flash based websites like newgrounds.com and my flash based eTextbooks to work correctly! So that's a decent enough work-around for my issues.
Hulu.com works better than with any other browser but still won't actually play videos.

How to get video playing from DNLA uPnP server ?

Recently installed CM9 RC on my SGS2.
I've got MX Player+Codecs installed but can't get video to play over BubbleuPnP or VPlayer.
Music plays from the server fine but video just puts it into a "loading" loop.
Network is working fine and the Samsung Allshare app works perfectly in my Galaxy Note.
Any tips to get this working would be greatly appreciated.
In fact, after further investigation it seems there is just generally poor video performance on cm9. I've also tried paranoid android which I believe is based on cm9 and the video was poor on that too.
Is this normal?
Actually, I've tried a few different ROMs now not all based on CM9 and they've all had poor video performance with no ability to stream from my NAS.
I'll be gutted to have to go back to the Samsung ROM because aesthetically the vanilla ICS ROMs are preferable to me but if the Samsung ROMs perform better then so be it.
:-(

XBMC on the ATP

So now we have an XBMC .apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772433
Has anyone else tried it? It works well for me. It works well with my TV via HDMI
edit
I'm running andowook with _motley's latest kernel.
I get very low volume, even if I go into sound and bump it up.
35 minutes into the movie, the app stopped for no reason.
docking and undocking seem to close the app
I haven't got green flickers yet, but I get the green flickers in openelec all the time, so thats not android specific.
For me it the audio on it is crap and sometimes the whole app flickers rapidly.
Maybe I need to reboot...

I have tried it, mainly streaming video from my Serviio server and it works like a charm. What an amazing app. And it can only get better,
Definitely reboot. About the 3rd time I fired it up after installing some add ons it began running like a charm. The first time you use it there may be a very long start and turn off period. That's ok.
The XBMC interface is running smoothly on my TP.
When i try to stream (WiFI) a X264 movie with DTS over SMB it stutters like mad.
I hope this is because of network speed. I'll try to play the same movie over USB, i hope this works better.
But overall, it's its nice to see XBMC on my Prime

Oh yeah, isn't it software decoding only? For now anyway

As far as I can tell, software only.
Installed the icefilms repo and watched full episode of Eureka. it took a restart of xbmc b4 it worked though. I am ging to try t compile this for my google tv. If it compiles i'm throwing my appletv through a window.

It is software only. I have always used it as a content streamer though, not much as a local player.
I wonder if this can and will support HDMI CEC.
I gave it ago on my Prime running the stock rom, i was quite impressed with how well it worked.
I could map my SMB network shares on my Windows Home Server perfectly and XBMC would stream anything SD fine, 720p MKV played some what ok with random frame drops / jerkiness every couple of seconds, 1080p video was very jerky and not really any watchable.
Plugins such as the BBC iPlayer worked (sometimes buggy), YouTube and Ted Talks also worked very well.
Video overview of my experience here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmttML0LNm4
Very impressed so far, a big well done and thanks to the XBMC team :good:

It does the flicker part on my TFP only if I go to the "Settings" option. Other thatn that it works.
I tested MP4, AVI and MKV formats yersterday. It lags with the MKV playback.
I am also getting alot of background flicker in xbmc. Then sometimes the screen goes black. Going to try a reboot to see if it goes away.

I may be wrong but I believe that these versions of XBMC don't support hardware acceleration just yet. I haven't been on top of the development of this app but that tidbit was enough for me to wait for the final release.
github is here: https://github.com/xbmc/android/commits/android-rebase-8/
There are two builds AFAIK
zefie's: http://files.persona.cc/zefie/files/cell/androidapk/xbmc-unofficial/?C=M&O=D&S=&P=
and the one on miniland: https://www.miniand.com/forums/forums/1/topics/136
and no hardware acceleration.

I had the same issue... It's because somehow it doesn't work when your volume isn't at anything but 100%. If it's set to the loudest it can be, the sound works fine.
It's not dead yet. Plenty of ROM development going on in the dev section.
Sent on the mobile device (there might be more mistakes).
XBMC 12 Frodo
Has anyone tried XBMC 12 Frodo RC3 on ATP? I have a TF201. I'm a long time user of XMBC since the original Xbox, and the app looks great. I'm very happy to see this. But unfortunately, with this version, the videos lag quite a bit and I get absolutely no audio. I've tried changing the audio out options and playing music/video with no luck. I did not yet try pushing the video/music out through HDMI yet, but not really much point yet.
Anyone else trying have experience with this?
