[Q] Lockscreen Location? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I want to port the AOSP 4.1 lockscreen to stock motoblur 4.1 for the DROID RAZR.
I want to know where is the lockscreen located.
What I know is that a part resides in the Framework-res.apk, but is it just there? Or is it splattered in other places of the framework?
Also, I want to know what parts inside of Framework-res.apk are the one that compose the lockscreen please.
Thanks in advance.

You can change that with the app called nova in Google play store

Decompile you're framework, go to the res folder and search for lockscreen, that should find any and all files you're looking for.

[Q] Editing the lockscreen

I'm running Liquid Thunderbread v2.6 right now and using the its lockscreen.
I want to put an image of someone as my wallpaper at the lockscreen but the big digital clock and date covers most of the face.
Does anyone know if a method or a an existing flash file I can use to get rid of that?
I did a bunch of research and tried to edit the xml file myself, but I have no clue how to decompile and recompile back into the framework.
just switch your lockscreen to wallpaper rather than clock lol if you really need to decompile though i use apk manager. not sure which apk contains that file but if you can find it apk manager can decompile and recompile it

Assuming you don't want to deal with all that trouble, cyanogemod and probably some other ASOP roms allow you to change the lock screen wallpaper without hacking the compiled apk files.

Oh, I'm able to change the lockscreen to a wallpaper on want. The problem right now is that the large digital clock and date covers the background image so I want to disable those two items.

I guess if you really want, it's an AOSP rom so I would grab the source if he contributed back his changes to it (or ask him). Then grep through the source and find where the clock is and mod the source and recompile. If that's too much, find someone with the time willing to do it
If he wont give the source, as mentioned, hack the apk or switch to an AOSP rom that doesnt hide their sources like OMFGB or CM7.

I'm going to try the apk manager tonight
I read somewhere about what file the code is in.
All I needed was a way to decompile it and recompile it.
I'd prefer to try things on my own so I can learn instead of relying on others

Home screen + lock screen icons.

Im creating my own rom for the htc flyer and i've removed some apps that had icons on the main homescreen and lock screen, now when I install my rom they are blank spaces.
my question is how do i change the layout of the icons and widgets/lockscreen for people installing my ROM?

If it has any version of sense 3.0 or better you can't. The tools have not been updated yet due to HTC changing the coding
It's not.. 3.0 how do I edit it?

What you need to do is probably different based on what launcher your using. You may want to check out this thread. Somebody lists an XML file that you can edit for Sense and Android Launcher, and I just posted a method to restore ADW.Launcher's icons, widgets, and settings.
I'm not really sure where do go for lockscreen mods, as I have not made any myself yet.

As long as apktool works for the apk in question this should would. I don't really mess with sense, touchwiz, or blur so i have no real idea. By using my knowledge of AOSP then you should open the launcher in question. navigate to
res/xml/
there should be workspace.xml files that you can edit. Then you have to repackage the apk with apktool.
If you have the apk handy as well as the framework-res and com.htc.resources.apk and send them to me I can take a look as well

For the lockscreen you will need m10 tools to decompile the HTC m10 files and edit the layout in Idle lockscreen base apk and fusion apk. Editing HTC Apks are not like editing any other type of apk as it uses the m10 encoded files. Its alot more difficult then normal apks as they dont use the same folder set up

[Q] App Icons?

I want to replace the stock icons with illest theme icons from kgill7.. is there a way with out using a third party launcher to do this? Right now I'm using apex launch with white frost theme for the skin and illest adw icons. It looks nice, the only thing is that apex doesn't change most of the icons even tho its in the theme. So I been snooping with root explorer to see if I can just rename the .png and push it to replace the stock icon. But I've had no luck so far. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Not sure if it's what you're talking about exactly, but I changed the icon of a stock HTC camera apk one time. Used 7zip on a PC. I had a camera apk that had an icon I really liked, but a newer version of camera with stupid icon came out.
Anyhow, I put both apks on desktop. Opened with 7zip. Browsed the pngs til I found the main camera icon. (Think it was called launcher.ic.png) just swapped the PNG into the camera apk that I wanted. Didn't have to sign apk or anything. Just don't extract the apk to browse its files. 7zip lets you browse without extracting.
Not sure if this was the kind of info you were lookin for. Sorry.

I like Nova Launcher becuase of all the various options it allows and it also allows you to change out the icons for virtually any of the aps you add to your desktop - I personally am using ADW icon Pack and a Launcher Pro Icon pak (both work with Nova just fine) Not sure if this is what you were talking about - but I hope it helps -
desktop visualizer will do that for you.. change icons without using a launcher
Thanks I'll look in to that n yea I know how change the icons on the desktop just really want to change the icons in the drawer as well but thanks for all the responses

N yea I thought about looking through the apk to see where the PNG was, but in system/app on the root of my phone. Tried looking, but no luck. :/ guess I'll try to back em up n see if I can just re install.

I have found a way to actually change the icon, unlike desktop visualizer where it only creates a short cut of the app, this app actually modifies the icon to which ever one you choose. It's called ninjamorph. I take no credit found it on another forum just don't remember what forum.

hi! sorry I wrote wrongly.. I forgot a word.. I know where apps are.. I meant where default app ICONS are.. sorry for confusion..
I'm asking this because I would like to replace the exDialer icon (green one) with the default JB telephone one (blue receiver).. but I don't know where I can locate the JB telephone app icon..
I think you may have had the right image, but I believe you may have to decompile then recompile the app properly to do change that. Google should produce results for a guide to do this as I have seen one recently

nova launcher allows me to change apps icons very easily, I have already changed all the apps icons I have in the dock.. so I just need to know where I can find the telephone app icon to be able to use it..

Which one do you want? If I have it I will drop box it for you
To replace images you don't have to decompile just drop them in /res/*whichever folder it goes in* with a store compression value.
Only when you need to edit XML's do you need to decompile and recompile.

Thank you very much
It is the blue telephone app icon you can see in the attachment..
I have it somewhere in the system I'm sure otherwise the app couldn't show it but don't know where i could look..
you forgot the attachment
Sorry.. second from the left, third row.. it is the regular jb telephone app icon.. I don't like all the other telephone icons I have..
just trying to upload it now

mate.. you are epic!!
that's wonderful.. at last.. thanks so much! :good::good::highfive::victory:
You dont need to decompile to change .pngs...just open the .apk with winrar and go to res/drawable-xhdpi and replace what you want to
the other drawable folders arent used in the S3 - they are overwritten by the xhdpi folder
Edit, couldnt type it fast enough...!!
And that should be dropped in appname.apk/res/mipmap-xhdpi or hdpi or mdpi whichever one is for your dpi.

quickpanel settings

how can i install quickpanel settings to my player? I'm currently using generic ginger 1.1 and i love the customizable shortcuts at the top... i did a google search and found an app but it looks like it would only add another bar under the one i already have i think... sorry if this is the wrong place to post this...
just had a thought: could i just bring the framework.apk and systemui.apk over from another rom like chip 1.5 and flash them? or would that leave me with a paper weight??

The quickpanel is implemented in systemui, but because of resources and signing, you'd also lidroid-res framework-res and most of the other system apps. If there's nothing specific you need from genericginger, it'd be much easier to just flash chip. (Not trying to advertise)
And yes the app would just add another bar, which is probably not what you want.
