I have a rooted S3 with the stock rom. I am looking for a way to decrease the minimum brightness. I have seen and tried the brightness fix from the Note but that didn't work. I've also tried filters in the app store and those suck. On my evo I had a tweak that decreased/increased the min max levels. Is there anything like this for the s3?
Sounds like you may have already tried it but I am using a great app called screen filter. Does the job perfectly.

JKay Framework has a statusbar toggle that can set the screen brightness to a very low level, perfect for night reading.
Try Vodoo Display Filter.
You can't find a better app than this one to do this job!
Let me know if it's ok .
Screen Filter from the Play Store. 'nuff said.
Just tried screen filter and it works neatly.
So I had the Screen Filter app and while it worked it make everything look really funky and filtered. I didn't like it. Voodoo Display Filter is a much better option I think. The filter is less harsh and works great!
Thanks everyone!

Try Lux from Google Play. It's paid however
"Lux" app from play store.
Best brightness app out there no question.

anyone? .........

As for battery no. The screen is still lighting up the same amount of pixels and same brightness etc... Gaming i doubt u will see a difference. Tell us if u find othwise tho. Hope that helped

Changing screen density isn't the same as changing resolution. Apps choose which icons to show depending on the "screen-density" value reported by the device. So higher density devices will have larger and more detailed icon graphics, etc.
As far as saving battery life, the screen typically uses most battery which varies slightly depending on the brightness setting. One root user found he could save battery by only showing red colours (requires changes to the display driver).
Shrinking the screen like in Note 3 will save energy...anybody found a way how to do this in other phones? application?

Hello All,
I have looked around different forums hoping to find an app or setting info which allows to modify the screen color, contrast and Gamma . I haven't been able to find any .
I have a Vega Tegra2 replica which has high screen brightness ( faded black colors ) and I am running Vegacomb 8.1 on it.
Can any one please tell me if such an app or modification exists?
Many thanks !!
Anyone has any info?
Sorry, don't know anything that can do it. But it's a nice idea.
It would be very helpful for those that have cheaper tablets/phones and want to improve the screen quality and picture.
Im wondering how come no apps is around? Any limitation on Android OS to handle this or harware limiation?

Ok guys we've all read the reviews hyping the camera as one of the best on a phone available right now. There are a plethora of settings within the camera app, whether its exposure value, ISO, effects, etc.
Lets start with some of the settings you guys are using to provide the best quality pics
BTW, I'm no photographer, by any means, just trying to get the most out of this camera. Have at it.....
Anti shake and blink detection really improved my photos
grr.. just waiting for instagram to build a freaking app for the android.

Eliminate delay
My camera has about a .5 second delay between focusing and taking the picture. Can that be eliminated?
shortcuts.. but I don't know why it deletes the shortcuts when I exit the camera app.
Second that .5 delay question, damn near impossible to get action shots.
Vignette seams to work without a delay.
Anyone know how to save your new edited shortcuts? Exiting the Camera app on task manager results in shortcuts being removed/deleted and have to put it on the screen again and again.
It automatically saves for me

I pretty much use all auto, no flash unless i HAVE to, and keep photo rez at the 2.4 wide. So far, so very very good.
ISO at 100. No auto anything except occasional auto focus. I've found the flash on this is far better than my point and shoot. It's a more natural white, and much brighter. Barely touches battery, too.
In fact, try turning on a flashlight app. I can go 3 minutes or more on 1% of my battery. 10% for half an hour isn't bad.
Can you guys aware me on these picture resolutions?
It seems like the 2.4M takes just as good pictures as the 8M does?

If you use GTG's NoNamed rom it will auto-save the camera shortcuts all the time.
(even if you force close the camera app using taskmanager).
If you want everything to work properly, why settle for anything less than the NoNamed rom......

Not going to lie, going from the Galaxy S (Captivate) to this phone, they removed the "Add Me" feature which was pretty epic, but I guess the rest of the settings make up for it. Fyi, Add Me allowed for people to be duplicated among a picture extremely easily, but yeah, that's gone now...

Even lesser will produce as good pictures as the max one. Until you print them out/enlarge them.
Quality-wise, its all about the lenses and the sensor, not max megapixage a camera has, hence why most cells will never compare to POS or better cameras.
So, if you plan on viewing/printing pics on large mediums/high quality/large screen rez, you don't really need a large base image rez.
I like to use spot meter and the exposure compensation....
I usually ttake photos of items up close....

Hi.. I just flashed my GS2 with Super Nexus rom..So far it has impressed me to the core..everything is working properly. Kudos to the developers.
I just have one slight problem with this rom..the colors of all the photos, wallpapers have very very high contrast..it is difficult to look at them..Is there any way to reduce the brightness, contrast of the phone..I tried the default 'adjust brightness', though it reduced the phone brightness, the brightness and contrast of the photos and wallpapers is still very very high..Is there a way to adjust it?
Thanks in advance

I don't know about super nexus but on Samsung based rooms and even usually on AOSP/ AOKP roms there is a setting to change the screen mode. Try changing it to movie which I think is the "dullest"

Hello,
I don't know how many users have realize this trick of reducing the brightness which could possibly reduce battery consumption but here are the steps:
1) Open Settings
2) Open Display
3) White Balance
4) Put all the 3 Primary colours to 255 for minimum brightness. You can play around with other values

Most of us uses the 8GB variant lol. Besides, why download when you can do it straight ahead?
