Talk and surf at the same time? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Thinking about buying the note 2 coming from the rezound I like the ability to talk and surf the Internet at the same time. Is this possible with the note 2.

On LTE and wifi, yes.
Otherwise, no.

Not on 3g, thats one of the few things HTC gets right over other manufacturers.

Not entirely. The HTC Droid DNA doesn't have data over 3G during calls either.

Just make sure you have the phone on a lanyard or something or you will lose it in the great big blue

Thats the only thing I miss from the rezound, but not nearly enough to go back. The rezound really was such a disappointment. The rezound was the main reason I didn't go with the DNA, i've just lost all faith in HTC.

Pretty sad that my old Thunderbolt could do this on 3g and my Note2 can not. I never realized how used to it I had become until I have been trying to surf while on the phone lately with my note. At my house 4g is spotty, if I make a call and during that call it switches to 3g, it will not reconnect to the mobile data until I hang up.

I had the 3vo and it is purely a gimmick phone. The Photon is just a nice piece of machinery. If you are still on your 30 days just try it out, you can reset your 30 days 3 times. You won't want to return it.

If buying at Sprint retail, they will only allow 1 exchange (for a different device) you CAN exchange for the same device multiple times (with device issue). Best Buy, I have personally done 3 different devices within that 30 day time frame.
Just tell em "look, I'm gonna be stuck with this phone for the next 2 years...so wanna make sure I'm gonna be happy with it."

I guess coming from a Samsung Epic, my definition of "laggy home screens" is a little different. From my perspective, the Photon is incredibly quick in every instance, including scrolling between home screens.

I'm on my 3rd EVO and it still has the same problems the others had. Screen freezes, green pictures, dark pictures in bright sunlight, piss poor reception which not only makes the phone useless but also kills the battery stupid fast.

You also need to keep in mind that somebody different has used that phone every few minutes and who knows what settings they may have changed. Widgets can also affect any phones' response, so you might want to strip those when you test. I don't have the slightest bit of lag on my phone using blur.

Finally got try try 4G

Was in DC for a few days and holy crap is it fast compared to 3G. Looks like Myrtle Beach is scheduled to get it 5/17 with the Rezound POSSIBLY getting ICS shortly thereafter (???). Could be a good month.

Also yea, I can't believe these 4g speeds even after almost everyone in NYC has a 4g phone

I love 4g. My brother will ask me to do something for him on his 4s. Talk about slow. Takes him 5-10 minutes to download an mp3. I can do it in 20-30 seconds. Watching YouTube videos I run full HD and never stop to buffer. He runs standard definition and has to buffer every 30 seconds or so. I almost bought the 4s, but the screen, processor, and 4g that the rezound has is just no match.

Agreed. My sister has a 4 and she used about a gig of 3G about 2/3 through our billing cycle. Over 3G that is alot of background data because she doesn't use the phone "that much" if you know what I mean. 90% of her use is texting, calling, and light browsing of memes.

Man I miss my note!

So I went from my ATT Note to BB8130 on VZW and found that had just traveled back in time to a time and place where things just werent easy nor connected.
I begged my friends for loaners and got the Droid X again on VZW and still no signal....but atleast is android...I don't feel too bad.
But the screen size, the crispness of that screen, and the Samsung calendar are features I mess greatly.....and I can't believe I'm saying this but the ATT network is what I miss most!
So now trying to switch either back to the Note or a GS3....

I'm not too happy with AT&T's network in my area at the moment. The cell towers can't keep up with all the tourism. A few months ago I could easily get 49Mb/sec down, but now I'm lucky if I get 400Kb/sec, or even a data connection at all. Ugh.

I'm stuck with big red for now as I travel a lot and being in sales, I live on my phone. Switched from AT&T which wasn't anywhere near as reliable. Keep hoping that verizon gets there act together and releases premier android phones like other carriers. Hoping that the One is coming...

I don't understand the appeal of this phone if you already have a DNA. It would be a very minimal upgrade and a slight downgrade in at leastone aaspect (screen). The only thing I am seeing that's better is a slight bump on the CPU clock speed and a better camera. Don't get me wrong. It looks like a super slick phone, just nothing worth purchasing coming from a DNA IMO

Screen downgrade is only opinion really. I think it's a upgrade. Still 1080 and easier to handle... Don't forget ir to control tv. Fm radio. 40% faster cpu. Camera. Better call quality and recordings... Every aspect of the phone was upgraded

Speakers also
Although every aspect was upgraded it's not enough to make me switch. I'm content with my dna on 100% stock. I don't think verizon is just going to dump this phone and stop updating it, but if that's the case then I will just use xda to modify my phone.

Switching to the HTC One (or any smaller phone)

I've been slowly making the switch from my Verizon Note 2 to the HTC One on T-Mobile and I've quickly learned a few things.
1. That initial realization that the Note just can't be compared to any other standard sizes phone. There is no way I could say either the One or the Note is better just because they were designed for two completely different ways of use. But the only thing I'm going to miss from Samsung is the multi-window feature. I'll live without the pen.
2. Removable storage. there was something really convenient about being able to swap SD cards depending on my day. I have a music card and a video card that I would switch out if I was going to work or just vegging on the couch while beaming videos to the tv.
I've seen many times people talking about switching phones and almost immediately coming back to the Note, but there's a more specific switch I had to make in my daily routine to make me not want to come running back. I mean, the One is in no way a small phone, but when set next to the Note, it looks like a 4.3 inch phone. That's where I'm having to make the switch. The fact the my phone needs to be a phone is where the One becomes a better fit for me.
TLDR Peace yall. I'm moving to the HTC One.

Sounded like he was being sarcastic. The rezound took forever to be updated to ics. I had it months before Verizon updated it. I sold the phone before it got that update. Lol I love HTC but the Note owns the One in real world use. But to each their own

I left Verizon in April this year and made that stupid decision to try tmobile again. In fact I too had the HTC one. I loved the phone, so smooth. I just couldn't live with spotty coverage and no signal at my office. I came back to Verizon this month and have the note 2. Everyone tells me that I sound so much clearer and louder than how I sounded on the HTC one. Plus my husband HATED when I was on blue tooth with the HTC one, he said it sounded like I was talking behind a grinder or a blender with rocks in it. Not the case with the note2, very clear. Plus the final straw was not receiving text messages and missing dozens of calls even with a signal. You will be back to Verizon, trust me it's worth every penny!

Two things, both personal opinions:
1. HTC sucks
2. Tmob sucks more than HTC.
The HTC one actually performs very well, just not sure if every HTC one is plagued with poor sound quality with calls. Since I got the note 2 I can't see how I survived with anything smaller. Great screen, love the multi-task feature and the s pen. And yes, t-mobile does suck.
