OTG adapter with ps3 controller? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Now that I believe this is supported with JB on our phone has anyone used a ps3 controller to properly play any games like GTA 3? If so is it as simply as plug and play or so you have to go through a setup and tweak it to your needs like the Sixaxis controller app is? Where did you purchase your otg adapter/how much was it? Thanks in advance.

OTG does work on JB, BUT it won't read ps controller with six axis... Tried millions of times. Flash CMX... pair controller... And then flash back to sense or whatever and it will work flawlessly. This is what I do and GTA will automatically read the controller... No need to set a profile or anything

You don't need the cord to connect them if it the dual shock (wireless).
Install sixaxes on the phone and run it. On the bottom it will show the bt address.
on a computer, install the sixaxis connection tool and run it. next, connect the Sony controller to the computer using a mini usb to usb cord. A dialog no will pop up. In the there will be a master #. Below that is an input box. Copy the bt address from the phone into the input box in the pop up on the computer. and submit it.
Now disconnect the controller from the computer. Hit the start button on on the phone. Next hit the connect button on the controller. You should now be paired.

Then buy a GameKlip and rock out games on your phone...
I love my GameKlip.

Didn't know that the evo doesn't recognize the ps3 controller via otg that's crazy. But yea use a computer if no computer flash cmx and sync the ps3 controller with our phone via sixaxis and then flash back to ur preferred sense ROM and done

I never use a cable. Just use the Sixaxis app and my PS3 controller and play wireless. It's 2013, we don't need no freaking wires between our devices!! Lol
PS3 controller with Sixaxis app and HTC Media Link makes my Evo LTE like a PlayStation. HDMI-miniHDMI in place of the Media Link makes my Asus Infinity like a PlayStation. Though I have a PS3 and an XBOX right beside them, it's just fun to do on my mobile devices just because I can, haha.
I use my GameKlip with my Evo when I'm on the go. The GameKlip is awesome!!!

I didn't have a good experience with the Sixaxis app. I spent a while trying to make it flow seamlessly as if it was a ps3 and it never worked right. That's why I'd rather just hopefully hook up the otg adapter to my controller then play with no issues.

Well I got the OTG adapter and no dice with the easy hookup. So your saying that if I flash this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1851912 and then hook my ps3 controller up to my phone it will automatically work? Then I can restore or do I have to flash a fresh new ROM? After a full wipe this won't wipe clean the ps3 controller connectivity? Also I'm currently on MeanBean if I go from JellyBean to CMX then back will I have any problems? I'm S-ON with the latest HBoot and all. Thanks for your help.

Its as simple as this. Have SIX AXIS APP... FLASH CMX... PAIR CONTROLLER. It will stay paired on any Rom because the main Bluetooth address will be set to your phone instead of ps3.

using ps3 controller with s1

Without rooting his xoom I saw a guy using a ps3 controller to play an emulator. He did have to use an otg cable but did not root his device. I tried connecting a mouse successfully but the ps3 didn't work. It does power on though. Any ideas?
Hmmmmmm. Well, the Sony tab runs the same os (3.1+) as the xoom. So, the otg cable should work fine. Though, it is only for a select amount of apps that support controller mapping. Now, connecting via bluetooth will not work. As far as I know, but if you're rooted an app like 'sixaxis' will allow for the dual shock via bluetooth! Now, seeing as this tablet has an ir port... the wii mote could be paired!!! There is an app in the market called 'wiimote'. Its free too!

I picked up an inexpensive PS3 controller too. No luck with the playstation games on the S.

FYI - Wiimote works!

I'm happy to say that wiimote app from the market works perfect with the EVO LTE. This is a completely stock phone and I'm not rooted.
I've been playing the snes emu thru the mhl adapter on my 32" HD TV. The best part about this is that with the new kick stand I can charge the phone while I'm playing

Its both bluetooth and it uses the regular PS3 drivers for compatibility with the PS3 so I dont really see why not I just dont want to drop money on something that wont work.

You'd be better off spending the extra $30 and buy a legit ps3 controller. If it doesn't work, then return it. You can get a used one from gamestop for like $35 or something.
Droidmote an app in the market if you have an old phone (Android) you can use that a controller and the Dev has tons of videos on how to make it work for any game I use my note as controller for my Acer a500 work like a charm plus it only 2 bucks

Just for the score I tried a fake controller from Amazon and it did not work, original Sony worked fine. Wish the games worked in analog with the analog sticks though. I only played Grand theft Auto and it wasn't that great. I understand ICS is supposed to be the key to being able to fully implement analog.
Okay so I went to game stop and asked them if I could test a controller and the six axis app said no device found. I tried a few things and I could not get it to work. I'm highly skeptical now.
I'm on CM9 but that should make no difference.

The Sixaxis work on the Galaxy Note so you must be doing something wrong. Did you install The Sixaxis Pair Tool on your PC and connect your controller to change the Bluetooth address? You cannot just turn them on and pair them you need to change the address from your PC. Here is a video tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTbc2Se5S3A&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Do any Bluetooth controllers work?

I recently found out that wiimotes unfortunately don't work with galaxy players, because of samsung's proprietary Bluetooth stack (I hate how Samsung messes up the best features of android!). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has better success with any other game controllers, particularly ps3 controllers? Or are our players fully incompatible with any game controller?

I have tried the ps3 controller and it works fine just download the sixaxis controller app from the market and the pair tool from their website http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/tool.html
Run the app, look and the little number on the bottom after you push start then copy them down
go to your computer run the pair tool and copy the number from your phone to there and click update
ps3 controller should now be able to connect to your galaxy player
Great! Do you have to use the PC every time you want to use your controller with your galaxy player, or is it a one time step?

Well, the app was just updated to fix the error, so problem solved! One thing I am not certain about is this; I have read that if you buy a brand new ps3 controller, it will need to be paired to a ps3 before you can use it with this app. Now, I don't have a ps3, but could I buy a used ps3 controller that has already been paired to someone's ps3 and would that work?

I doubt it I see no reason that it needs to be paired with the ps3 when you connect a control to a ps3 it only gets the bluetooth address so you can use it with the console.
And beside you'll be changing that anyways with your computer. I doubt you'll need a ps3. I and if I'm wrong return the controller back.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe a new remote has to be activated by a ps3 console or something though, who knows. I'll probably buy a used one anyway, since new ones cost a crazy amount of money, and it sounds like few third-party remotes work.

Ps3 controller won't work

So I bought a generic ps3 controller off eBay and I got it working over blue tooth over my phone but it lags really bad so I decided to connect it with a USB cable to my phone but for some reason it won't detect the controller.... Is there a way to fix this? I want to use the controlled wired to my phone and not over bluetooth

Generic ps3 controllers are known to not work very well with phones. Some do not even work very well with a ps3. I bought 2 for my son at different times. The 1st worked really good, the 2nd is so bad that he will not use it.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2
The genetic part is where it gets tricky, you got lucky that it works on bluetooth at all... idk if you've tried, but you have to have it off before you plug it in, and don't have the Bluetooth service listening for it, sammy's supposed to have it down wired.
Basically don't try to use the Bluetooth app to run it wired, the rom takes care of it if it works at all
